Is it a way to reduce the amount of reserved memory on sunxi64 devices? Trying to remove all useless for my case features (video/audio/wireless) to free up memory/resources for other tasks. The amount of total (413M) vs real (512M) memory is quite low: # grep -e Mem -e Cma /proc/meminfo MemTotal: 422416 kB MemFree: 49620 kB MemAvailable: 314396 kB CmaTotal: 0 kB CmaFree: 0 kB # dmesg | grep Memory: [ 0.000000] Memory: 407924K/524288K available (14144K kernel code, 1456K rwdata, 8700K rodata, 3072K init, 521K bss, 116364K reserved, 0K cma-reserved) # grep extraargs /boot/armbianEnv.txt extraar…

I have a question, does anyone know a method to start in the Opi Lite system the I2S audio interface and in particular I mean the module: PCM5102 / PCM5102a On my old OrangePi Lite board, sound and audio in the configuration as mentioned above really work great ... but unfortunately the Armbian system that I use is no longer supported. This is the Ubuntu version (xenial) and kernel: 3.4.113-sun8i, I managed to update some programs important to me, e.g. mpd / mpc but not to the latest versions. I also have another version of OrangePI 3 LTS and I know that on this model it is rather impossible to start I2S + PCM5102 so I used a good sound card under USB and it is OK. Ho…

Good morning, I have a NanoPi Neo Core that I want to use to generate a PWM wave. As far as I understand, the pin for this is PA5, which is shared with UART. However, by using the corresponding overlay, the UART would be disabled, and PWM would be enabled. Is that correct? What would be the next steps to verify that this is correct and to generate the PWM wave? Is there a specific command to do this? Thanks for your help, and best regards!

Good evening! Thats my first post, I have for a year a Orangepi 3 LTS that I used for my kid, he looks that never switch off the unit by software and use the switch all the time, so suddenly the unit dont boot anymore, the SD card partition table was corrupt, so I mounted a new OS in another SD but does not boot, the green light is not coming anymore. So I connected a TTL to USB Serial device for debugging and it shows the following information: U-Boot SPL 2021,10-orangepi (Sep 06 2022 - 18:22:23 +0800) PMU: AXP806 DRAM: 2048 MiB Trying to boot from MMC2 NOTICE: NOTICE NOTICE NOTICE: INFOS NOTICE NOTICE: INFO: INFO: INFO? Im using Orange Pi PC+ with Debian 12 minimal image. I tryed to install/compile ovpn-dco-v2 as of standard deb (openvpn-dco-dkms) as well as of git (https://github.com/OpenVPN/ovpn-dco). In bouth cases compilation prcess itself was finished successfully but resulting driver ovpn-dco-v2.ko didn't work. In the first case, the driver caused a kernel error. In the second case, after "modprobe ovpn-dco-v2" , openvpn stuck somewhere in the middle and lsmod has hung down, blocking the console. Before installing the driver package i did: apt install build-essential kmod debhelper devscripts linux-headers-current-sunxi And as i thought everything went fine. …

One of the Bananapi-m1+ GPIO pins is connected to an LED that I need to illuminate as quickly as possible after power-on. Using an older Fedora Linux release, it turns on in 3 seconds. Using a recent Armbian build, it takes 45 seconds. I've tried many ways using services with early "After=" targets, to access /sys/class/gpio/* interfaces more quickly, and this improved it by 5 seconds, but it's still too long. So I tried adding a device tree overlay to set the default value in the pin controller. I am confident the DT overlay is getting read and parsed properly, based on seeing artifacts in debugging streams, but still, no LED illumination. Anybody got any ideas on …

I switched armbian repo to stable via armbian-config 24.11.2. The first thing it did, judging by /var/log/apt/history.log, was purging linux-image*: Start-Date: 2025-01-04 22:47:25 Commandline: apt-get -o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=5 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=6 -y purge linux-image* Requested-By: user (1000) Purge: linux-image-current-sunxi64:arm64 (24.11.1) End-Date: 2025-01-04 22:47:27 Then it proceeded to purge and reinstall dtb and armbian-firmware, but not linux-image: Start-Date: 2025-01-04 22:48:34 Commandline: apt-get -o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=5 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=6 -y purge linux-dtb* Requested-By: user (1000) Purge: linux-dtb-cu…

I am attempting to boot my BPI-M2U. It will start the boot, but it does not get to the login prompt. Instead, it resets and starts the boot process over. I am using a 3A Power Supply rated for Pi's. I've tested with other power supplies. One of the BPI images does boot and run. The SD card is untested but works for the other OS. In case it was the SD card, I flashed the Armbian image to the eMMC and attempted to boot off that. I am using the Armbian_23.05.0-trunk_Bananapim2ultra_bookworm_current_6.1.24 image. While the exact spot it dies might change by a few lines, the following is about where it gets. I can build Armbian images f…

Good afternoon. I don't know how to solve a small problem. There is Orange Pi Lite. It runs its own program. The program uses spi-dev and display. You need to compile drivers for the network card. And then a problem arose. I cannot install linux-headers-current-sunxi on a working distribution (the latest one available on the website Armbian_23.02.2 5.15.93 ). And if you set “Community maintained”, then it is impossible to enable spi-dev and the display (Arbian-Config is missing in the repository) How to solve this problem?

Hello, since the build for OrangePi Plus 2 is only community maintained (and there is a warning during installation that this build is not suitable for production), I though of using some generic image or a image for a similar board with standard support. Is it a good Idea? Which image should I choose? Thanks for help, Skalistan P.S. there is no tag for "OrangePi Plus 2", so I used the tag for "OrangePi Plus 2E" since it is required to add a tag.

Normally when you have installed a XFCE-Desktop image for the Pinebook A64 you could set the display brigthness with the following pkexec command to a readable higher level - like I did in the past (possible brightness values are 1-10 - on startup this is only set to 2): pkexec /usr/sbin/xfpm-power-backlight-helper --set-brightness 8 read-out command for the current value: pkexec /usr/sbin/xfpm-power-backlight-helper --get-brightness but on standard CLI-install pkexec and xfpm-power-backlight-helper are missing, so to use this command-line (in /etc/rc.local) you have to install these 2 packages: sudo apt install xfce4-powe…

Hi, I'm trying to get Bluetooth working on a Cubietruck running 6.6 kernels including the latest Armbian release. What I'm finding is that a Cubietruck can discover other Cubietrucks but nothing else. Other devices (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Nvidia, Rockpi, and various phones) can discover each other but not the Cubietrucks. I have three Cubietrucks here and testing with the old 4.99 Bluetooth software or the current 5.55 release shows no difference. But if I run a Cubietruck with the ancient 3.4 kernel it can detect other devices but not the Cubietrucks running the 6.6 kernels. I'm using the same Wi-Fi firmware and BT .hcd file in all cases. So it's like the Cubietru…

Hi, I think I'm right in saying that this board once had standard support? I noticed it is now community support and the download page lists that there might be Wi-Fi issues. I have this link for previous builds: https://armbian.hosthatch.com/archive/orangepizero/archive/ Is there a way of knowing when standard support stopped and community support started etc? Thanks!

Hi everyone, I'm new to Orange Pi Zero 2w and Armbian. I'm trying to use the image on the zero2w. Installing on the SD fits and works so far. Unfortunately, there is no image on the screen via the HDMI port. Could it be due to the image? The old OrangePi image with the 5.x kernel works so far. Do you have an idea? Best regards

Hello First, sorry for my English Second, the problem... I have an Orange PI Zero 3, 4gb I install the OS without any problem, the image I use is the following: "Armbian_23.08.0-trunk_Orangepizero3_bookworm_current_6.1.31-1GB-2GB.img" I configure the network with the program "nmtui", everything is fine. I enter through ssh since the screen is not detected through HDMI, I do an apt update and then apt upgrade... everything seems correct, until I do a reboot... my Orange Pi does not start anymore. I am interested in installing openmediavault, that is why I resort to a debian image. What is the problem? I am not using the correct image? I need your help

I have recently been trying to get my spi ili9341 working under kernel 6.6, having gotten it working previously. I checked to ensure there were no changes in the overlay required by the newer kernel. I confirmed that the pins were configured correctly and that the ILI9341 DRM module had loaded.. Despite this I was met with a white screen. Think I must have missed something I swapped out my SD card for another using an image based on kernel 5.15.88, where I was able to recieve a display. Looking back over the dmesg log, I noticed a slight difference in behaviour with the older kernel. firstly we can clearly see that the SPI driver is requesting to use gpio 34 as…

I built Armbian Edge from source (bookworm, server, no gui) and have no video via HDMI. Being a new build, networking is not set up and so I cannot SSH in to troubleshoot. I reverted to a stable Armbian build on another SD, upgraded that kernel to Edge, and lost video output. This one already has networking set up, I can SSH in, but I don't know what to look for in order to get my monitor working. Goal being, figure out what needs changed, and change it in the build process for a new image. I appreciate any pointers.

Hi, I got my OPiZ3 2GB model last week, but it seems to detect as 4GB sometimes. At first, I thought I got lucky and the seller shipped the 4GB model, but I realized it crashes under load when it do. and I have to restart multiple times to get it right. The issue shows up in htop and free, where it reports double the memory and swap. I’m using the Minimal/IOT image with Armbian Linux v6.6. Here's the output from armbianmonitor -u: https://paste.next.armbian.com/iguzunaved The MemTotal value switches between 4GB and 2GB. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!

Hi. I'm running Armbian Distro Debian 12 Minimal/IOT with Gnome GUI on an Orange Pi Zero3 2gb and 4gb models. I installed XRDP Xorg to be able to access from Windows 10. Hello, sorry for the dumb questions incoming, thanks for your time. Lately I spent a lot of time searching for a working image to run Kodi with wifi/ethernet/bluetooh on this board. Does anybody managed to play videos on Kodi on this SBC ? If yes, what armbian image should I choose for this purpose ? Do I have to build the image myself ? Not even sure if this SBC can be used as a linux media player. Any tip/link/guide/wiki on how to successfully install kodi/har…

I’ve been running Armbian from an SSD for a while using this guide: https://jamesachambers.com/orange-pi-zero-2-usb-ssd-boot-guide/ Recently, after running apt update && apt full-upgrade, the following issues have occurred: 1. Wi-Fi adapter is no longer detected. 2. CPU utilization exceeds 80% when accessing the Gnome launcher or starting GUI apps (e.g., a web browser, even without opening a webpage). 3. The system becomes laggy and nearly unusable, noticeable when moving the mouse. Are there recent changes to Armbian that affect SSD booting? Is there a workaround for these issues?

I've had an Orange Pi 3 LTS for a couple of months now. I bought it for use as a home theater tv box. I thought I'd use the official orange pi ubuntu release, but it turned out to be really outdated and broken. So I have been trying to get Armbian to work. After a lot of troubleshooting and time spent reading docs and forums, I can't get the thing to play video properly. It plays but is terrible quality and stutters constantly. I've determined that panfrost is working. In orangepi-config, under Hardware, it says the GPU is enabled. But when I run glmark2 I get a score of 100 or less no matter what I do. I've tried old builds of armbian for the pi 3 lts and the…

Hello guys, i'm trying to connect that ili9341 display with my m2 zero but it wont work. My armbian Version: Armbian_23-02-0-trunk_Bananapim2zero_lunar_edge_6.1.11_xfce_desktop The display has a pinout that matches with the raspberry pi, so also the banana pi m2 zero would do the job, since it has the same pinout like the raspberry pi has. It uses 26 pins to connect to the banana pi m2 zero gpio output pins. 3 buttons and a touch panel are available but i only want to use the lcd for now. Has anyone had any success with running a current/semi current OS and the NAS/RTC Enclosure/Hat from FriendlyElec. I was never impressed with the NAS/OpenMediaVault image that shipped with the board/hat. I have attempted to strip OMV out of the device and move the device forward with some success. The the Kernel is stuck at v4.14.52. But I would prefer to load a clean current OS and potentially use the correct overlays to enable the extra USB Ports, USB to SATA Bridge and RTC features. Question is does anyone have any information/guide to use a current version of Armbian/Community and the correct overlay file(s) to allow the the JMicron USB to SATA interface and …

I want to understand the feasibility of installing Armbain on a board that is currently Tina Linux. The board has an Allwinner R528 processor and an emmc . The R528 is not a well known Allwinner processor but it is essentially a D1 with two Arm-a7 processors instead of a RISCV processor. It also is a essentially the same processor as a T113-s3 but in a different physical package. I see the mangopi-mq and the nehza have the D1, but I'm not sure it helps. I have a full dts file (3000+ lines) for this board. But what I am failing to get a grasp of is: Given that I that I have a complete dts file, what is the work flow to get Armbian…

I'm missing something essential. I have NanoPi Neo v1.4 with Armbian 23.5 Jammy CLI (Linux nanopineo 6.1.30-sunxi). My display is Nokia5110 LCD or PCD8544 With spi-spidev DT I can successfully via `spidev0.0` with `spi-tools`. I.e. I confirm that spi is working. Now, I studied about DTO and fbtft driver, found that it supports pcd8544. I wrote this kind of DTO and added it to `armbianEnv.txt` /* * Device: LCD5110 (nokia5110) 1.6"(84x48px) SPI display Module PCD8544 * Module Connector * SDI(MOSI) <- PC0 * SCK <- PC2 * CS <- PC3 * RESET <- PA1 * DC/RS <- PA3 * LED <- PA2 */ /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "all…

I suddenly have a need to test Linux 6.11 or greater, because there's a needed improvement in the panel-mipi-dbi-spi driver (thread keyword ili9488) User "The Going" has kindly advised me to try his Armbian branch with Linux 6.12, so I am here sharing results as I test it with my Orange Pi Zero 3. Initial instructions: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/35635-armbian-242-is-broken-on-orange-pi-pc2/#findComment-207980 At first try, I decided to NOT follow this step: armbian/build> egrep '^-' patch/kernel/archive/sunxi-6.12/series.conf (finds all the excluded patches) Well, I continued. Recently I tried to connect CAN bus adapter to my Orange Pi 3 LTS board and it happened that there is not so much information about it, it is outdated or related to other boards. So, after I spent a few days in trials and errors below is my recipe. 1. Connect a CAN interface board. Orange Pi pins are not 5V tolerant, so I decided to use a dedicated 2-channel board from Waveshare: https://www.waveshare.com/2-ch-can-hat.htm (only one channel for the start). You can modify a cheap board from AliExpress though; there are instructions in the Internet. I used the PL10 pin of Orange Pi 3 LTS board as INT pin. Actually first I tried to use the PD21 pin but it seems that…

I had to freeze my device on Kernel 6.1.92 & Bullseye to remain operational. Now trying to update/upgrade to Kernel 6.6.nn I run into following probs: 1) Using Armbian-config defreeze and subsequently switch to kernel 6.6.nn works OK 4me, but subsequent apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104. Armbian-config has changed significantly w/ No other Kernel available. 2) Using Armbian-config defreeze, only and going directly to apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104 as well and from Bullseye back to Buster! Its a mess! Will this eventually be corrected and when? RGDS

Hello! I could find quite a bit of information about the analog video output for OrangePi Zero 2W on Armbian under Ubuntu. On Android TV-OUT works. Are there any plans to add this feature to Armbian? It is very critical for me. If no one plans to do this now, then I would be extremely grateful for advice from experts on how to port / modify existing drivers, perhaps take something from the AndroidTV 12 code, where the video output works? I am a developer, but I have not previously dealt with driver development for Linux, but if I understand in which direction to act, then using ChatGPT sooner or later I should be able to cope. I would be very grateful for any he…

Hello! I've downloaded the current images for BananaPi M1 offered in the site, as "Community Maintained" builds, but none of them is capable of producing video output from HDMI nor composite video. Both the Ubuntu jammy and Debian12 versions lose the video output as soon as the kernel starts to load, after the u-boot screen. I tried the desktop and server images, without any luck. With the older 5.x kernel, the ubuntu-jammy image that I've downloaded before loads fine. I know it's an old board, but it still gives me some amusement time tinkering with it and playing retro games. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Thanks!

I believe that ethernet adaptor is not working properly because there's only one led blinking and its unable to receive ip address. I have tried to configure it with yaml files and manually with networkd and with static ip. I also tried to run dhcp on that interface and it received random ip outside of my network. Had no luck with network-manager either, it threw an error "ip configuration could not be reserved" With desktop image ethernet worked with no problem. So maybe there's a driver issue?

Hi you all. I'm trying for a couple of day now to solve an annoying problem with the USB and some Bananapi M2 zeros. I have two cluster-hats with 4 Bananapi M2 zeros as nodes. The cluster hat presents itself as a USB gadget (USB ethernet interface) to the nodes allowing networking between the controller and the nodes. The nodes work fine with kernel 5.9.8, the modules identify the hat as a network interface and everything works as expected. My trouble is that I'm creating new images for the nodes (bananapi m2 zero) from here, the nodes boots, but it seems like the OTG port is not behaving as expected. Followed instructions from these posts:…

Hello, I have a fully working customized Armbian on OrangePi PC Plus. There are two partitions, one for the rootfs, second mounted as /home I want to convert the root partition to squashfs, and use the squashfs file to boot from. I already converted the root partition to squashfs file, I can mount squashfs file, and the contents are correct. I even tried to mount it via fstab and it works. I searched everywhere, obviosly not enough, but I cannot find a way to boot directly from the squashfs file. The idea is to have only squashfs file and rw partition for /home Please, can somebody help me, or point me to the right instructions ?

I built an image for the `orangepi-z-2w` via `./compile.sh build BOARD=orangepizero2w BRANCH=current BUILD_DESKTOP=no BUILD_MINIMAL=no KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no RELEASE=bookworm`. The wifi connects (shows as active), however, I am unable to get on the internet (pinging results in `network is unreachable`, also can't ping the device itself). Am I building wrong? Thanks! Some notes: - I've been using `Armbian_24.2.6_Orangepizero2w_bookworm_current_6.6.28.img.xz` in the past (downloaded from armbian.com), and the wifi works just fine.

I have an ap in banana pi whose ip is 192.168.4.1. And eth0 on banana pi whose static ip is 192.168.144.100. I would like to connect device A from banana pi's ap and also it can ping to the eth0. So far I had tried: sudo iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE sudo iptables -A FORWARD -i wlan0 -o eth0 -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT sudo iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -o wlan0 -j ACCEPT

How to install Home Assistant Supervised on Armbian 23.02 Jammy (plus minus, but quite installed on the previous release of Armbian, this is based on Debian 10) Performed exclusively without a graphical interface, from the console. Works stably on Orange Pi Lite , including a connected Bluetooth dongle via USB and sensors to it. 1. The first installation of Armbian and the subsequent creation of a user and passwords, the next is required to install all updates via sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade -y . Then you need to install the Firmware update through the armbian-config ->System utility as in the screenshot. Скрытый текст …

Hi - is there anywhere a working guide to create a Wifi Access Point with this board ? I have tried the official debian ISO from orange pi and doing so with create_ap is very easy. I'd like to use armbian instead but using the "Minimal / IOT image with Armbian Linux v6.6" (bookworm) all I get is hell: I installed network-manager and armbian-config then used the later to try the hotspot configuration but then (several freezes and reboots after) it complains that "Unit hostapd.service is masked" and when I solve that, then dnsmasq fails and I see no helpful error message. I even tried connecting to a wifi network first before trying hot…

Hello, I've got some problems with a Cubietruck. First thing to state is that the com-port apparently has died. It was connected via a USB-converter 3,3v and worked flawlessly for a long time. I replaced it with a new one but no go. In the beginning no problem, I could use SSH. Second thing is that the hard disk became erroneous. I bought a bigger model but no boot. I thought that the UUID-entry in /etc/fstab caused this and changed it via tune2fs to the old one, but still no boot. Thus I could no longer use SSH! And I cannot mount the old harddisk, it's to erroneous! Third thing is that I tried with a new image, and the cubie seems to fina…
