Hi, I'm using a xenial system with Kernel 4.9.11-sunxi on LIME2 (actually it's an Olimex A20-SOM with external RTL8211 PHY) and trying to prevent the ethernet from coming up on boot. When turning the system on, the ethernet interface will assign a random MAC address; later on my script sets a proper MAC from an assigned range. Until then the eth0 interface must stay down to prevent the network from being spammed with bogous messages. This is because the ethernet interface chooses a random MAC address when the system boots up; later on a script sets the proper MAC address from an assigned range (along with IP and route configuration); The link must stay down un…

Hello together, I'm trying to connect an LVDS panel to my BananPro and would like to switching power on/of and backlight on/off throw a GPIO pin. So, first of all, I've added some lines to my DTS file (in &pio section). This is for backlight driver (PH12 is connected to CON2 pin 7): bl_en_pins_a: bl_en@0 { allwinner, pins = "PH12"; allwinner, function = "gpio_out"; allwinner, drive = <SUN4I_PINCTRL_10_MA>; allwinner, pull = <SUN4I_PINCTRL_PULL_DOWN>; }; And this is for enable pin of voltage regulator (PH7 is connected to CON2 pin 6): lcd_power_pins_a: lcd_power@0 { allwinner, pins…

Hello everyone, First of all, I'm sorry for my English. I'll do my best. Currently armbian is installed in the mmc (although I tried the same test with a sd memory). Now, with lscpu I can see that only cpu0 is enabled; 1-3 are off. When I try: sudo echo '1' | Sudo tee / sys / devices / system / cpu / cpu1 / online to activate cpu1, shell replies with: online: Permission denied I'm looking for options on root permissions or sysfs mount options; For now, I can not find a solution. Thanks in advance for your help.

Had some free time to toy around with Orange Pi Zero Used a image "Armbian_5.26_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.10.0.img" build with 'compile.sh BRANCH=dev BOARD=orangepizero KERNEL_ONLY=no PROGRESS_DISPLAY=plain RELEASE=xenial BUILD_DESKTOP=no' - which should not do anything special ? 1) First steps - run upgrades and normal tweaking (changed hostname, disabled ipv6, changed ntp, changed time-zone, generated correct locale) 2) Ensure that WLAN0 is working as client - using 'nmtui' created a new connection to my desktop WLAN router - disabled auto connect from eth0 - reboot with serial connection - run example speedtest-cli to see that the driver do wo…

Hi, I have probably trivial question related to GPIO on Orange Pi Zero. So - I have a switch there connected ot 3.3V and then to GPIO (pin 12 on Zero). What I want to do is just to read GPIO state. When button pressed it goes to high state - normally. On RaspberryPi and Odroid C1 that works fine just using basic code with wiringpi2 or eventually wiringpi. So I tried the same on Zero compiling wiring for H3/H2. My code is basic in Python: import time import wiringpi import pyA20 as GPIO cykl = 1 wiringpi.wiringPiSetupGpio #or wiringPiSetup() wiringpi.pinMode(1,0) while cykl == 1 : do_call = wiringpi.digitalRead(1) if do_call: print 'pressed' time.s…

What is the max current that the Orange Pi Plus (or other boards) can output for USB devices? Assume there is a high quality 3A power supply. For example, on Raspberry Pi it is documented here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/help/faqs/#powerReqs Note that the output amount is configurable on RPi (you must manually enable 1.2A output) - is there anything similar for OPi? Here is what needs to be changed in the boot config on an Rpi to change the power from 6mA to 1.2A: http://elinux.org/RPiconfig#USB_Power Thank you!

Hey, I was wondering if anyone came across the board layout files. If eagle cad files were available that would be great! I'm assuming that they dont exist.. Or has someone designed a hat or shield for the OPi0? I want to design one and was hoping someone else beat me to it. If not i'll just have to measure it out and make it. I dont want to reinvent the wheel so that would be cool Thanks

Hello, today I try to recompile armbian and produce some image which can be fited into nor flash. I would like to fit uboot, dtb and kernel into Winbond W25Q128FVSSIG and rootfs into sdcard. So I found some instruction in which I need to modify first kernel and dts (ref. http://linux-sunxi.org/Xunlong_Orange_Pi_Zerochapter SPI NOR flash). For Armbian it is quit difficult, when I issue ./compile.sh than everything regarding to Uboot is cleared. First what I need to do is modify sun8i-h3-orangepi-one.dts with following content &spi0 { status = "okay"; flash: m25p80@0 { #address-cells = <1>; #size-cells = <1>; …

I've had success with Armbian runing on Orange Pi One and pcDuino2. I'm using the legacy kernels on these boards. Today I've got a pcDuino3B - similar to pcDuino3 except it has GB ethernet from the pcDuino3 nano. I tried legacy kernels for both the 3 and the 3 nano. I see high cpu load ~35% from one of the kworker processes. Then I tried the mainline kernels from the 3 and the 3 nano. No cpu load problems but the GbE does not appear to be configured in the 3 image. 3 nano works on both ethernet and wifi so I'm wondering whether to stick with this one and see if there are any other differences. I don't have a build environment set up and no experience with kernel debug…

Hello everyone, I have an Orange Pi Lite and I have a problem when I try to shut down the system, I receive stack errors. I've recorded a video to see if it detects what the problem is, I'm new to armbian and linux in general. Except for a bug that occurs in the partition several times (on two different microsd cards), I do not know what the problem might be, I read that it could be a kernel bug, but I'm not sure. I put the video link to see if anyone can help me, it is slowed down so it can be read. If I do not try to turn it off, everything works fine, but when I try to turn it off, it gives the errors and restarts as seen in the video. Thanks in advance. …

I am running ubuntu xenial (legacy version) on my orangepi zero 256Mb version and using it as a web server with light torrenting. The SoC temperature reading in armbianmonitor reaches above 80C easily. When i log in via ssh after boot the temperature reads usually 60-65 C and normal operations easily cross 70C. This is my first SBC so I am not sure if this is normal? Can anyone tell me if these temperature readings are notmal or do i need heatsink to cool down my system? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm fairly new to SBCs and Linux and try to get RS485 working on a NanoPi NEO running Armbian (Legacy 3.4.113). I build a custom shield for the NanoPi Neo with a MAX3485 taht is connected to the UART2 (TX,RX,RTS) but so far only transmission works. This is because the RTS pin which I planned to use for toggling the direction pins is always high. I tried to use ioctrl to have it been toggled automatically, but had no success so far. I'm tried to figure out whats the problem and I believe that the configuration of the UART2 does not include the RTS signal: cat /proc/tty/driver/uart |head -8 serinfo:1.0 driver revision: 0: uart:SUNXI mmio:0x01C28000 irq:…

Hey there So I was planning on using the OPZero on a robot that I had already made, which took use of SPIdev, and it was doing calls to the spidev driver in C. Now I noticed that the OPZero has 2 SPI channels, one for the NOR flash (Which isnt populated) on the back and another that goes to the GPIO headers on the device. Now I ran my script, and turns out that /dev/spidev0.0 is actually writing SPI commands to the rear SPI channel. This is apparenly SPI0 according to the schematics. Now following the schematics again, I want to access SPI1, which currently does not exist as a spidev file. I tried "modprobe spidev" to bring up the extra interface, but sadl…

I would like to remove "everything" from the installation, which I don’t need, with the goal to minimize the footprint. I tried to remove some of them, like… ubuntustudio-videoubuntustudio-photography ubuntustudio-graphics mail-server ubuntu-gnome-desktop ... I can imagine to remove all CD installation and images as well... …but my problem is that if I for example remove “ubuntu-gnome-desktopâ€, the OPI Zero is not answering on ssh request any more. Hello, Recently I bought my first orange pi one and I downloaded the xenial desktop specifically so that I could have an xserver preinstalled to what I wanted to transform into an access point. I had followed instructions to rebuild the orange pi with the dev packages that are found on its download page, and it worked the first time, allowing me to continue with my work. Long story short I ended up re-imaging the sd card and now I can't get the dev version to work again. It won't boot once I install the packages. I am wondering if somet…

I'm currently running ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.9.7-sunxi on my CT. On my last apt-get upgrade I noticed this line reoccurring in log: > dpkg: warning: unable to delete old directory '/usr/src/linux-headers-4.8.4-sunxi': Directory not empty Accordingly there are serveral older versions of 'linux-headers-4.8.x-sunxi' in /usr/src. Should/Can these be deleted mannually and, if so, why can't the upgrade procedure do this in the first place? On searching this forum, I found several log clips posted containing the same warning messages, however, without any response as to how these could be avoided. Secondly, I ran across these lines upon entering the upg…

when i triaing change monitor in NANO PI M1 from HDMI to DVI ( H3disp 1080p ), then i cannot start system in a DVI monitor. After changed HDMI monitor is also blocked. Then you have to delete into another computer in sd card your scirpt bin file and rename script.bin.back to script.bin to return to HDMI monitor. DVI does not work at all . maybe it is producer error not software.

Hi everyone, I have an orange pi pc+ (also a orange pi one) and i'm trying to use one of them as a wifi-wifi router. I've been able to do it work several times, with different wifi dongles, armbian versions (both debian and ubuntu legacy and mainline) but I always get low wifi speed in the AP interface. The problem is that the AP network through the orange pi always gives me around 30-10% of the full internet connection. That is, if my connection gives me 1.5mb/s, the client interface at orange pi gives around 1.5mb/s but at the AP interface is only 200-500 kb/s. I'm going to show here the last configuration I've tried. I would like to achieve a "decent" wifi…

The old 0.14.0 version doesn't work well with subtitles, ending up with subtitles drawing on top of each others, when the text is moving fast. Is there any build I could download and install? Or some other workaround? Edit: Kodi draws the subtitles correctly, but it has pretty awful screen tearing. Using black bloxes instead of just some outline on the subtitles does work, but it's not an acceptable fix to me. So, it would be great it was possible to use whatever kodi uses to draw the subtitles, but then use mpv to draw the video.

Hey Guys, IM finally trying to make use of my OPi0 and Im planning on creating a daughterboard/hat/shield similar to the expansion board they sell, but with only the bits i need. One thing i'm wondering is if its possible to feed the power (5v) via the pins on the expansion board and not using the OTG input. Im trying to keep it as clean as possible and dont want to have the OTG connection for power. Is the regulator only on the OTG? Last I checked, my power supply gives out a steady 5.3v feed @5amps (driving some power hungry pixels). In regards to sound. With every upgrade I struggle with a "changed to default" login welcome message and have to do my modifications again. Therefore I would like to explain my changes and hope you can integrate them in the default version...: Your welcome message prints the $BOARD_NAME as ASCII art. Probably you have dozens of boards and can distinguish them in this way. So after login-in you directly see which board it is. I have only one type of "boards" (Cubietruck) and distinguish them by their hostname. So I have to replace "$BOARD_NAME" with "$(hostname -s)" in /etc/update-motd.d/10-header to identify my boards. What do you think about a change in that direction?

Hello, i am a "newbee" , just got yesterday my orange pi and did not get it working..... after hours i managed but it is strange ( i think ) the orange does NOT start with NO monitor cable attached..... it does does NOT start with a hdmi-dvi converter.... ( that i found on the web ). The ONLY way i get it started is : 1 - HDMI cable attached to a HDMI monitor AND 2 - Power button pushed AND 3 - then as last one plugin the power cable.... is that normal ?. i doubt it , that is why i ask... also then I have armbian working, super, no problem. but when hitting the restart button in Armbian the orange Pi plus 2e s…

Like whaaaaaa... Okay, so long and frustrating story short, I have been having inexplicable stability issues on my Banana Pro. I have blamed the SD card, the power supply, the micro USB cable, but none of those leads seemed to actually lead anywhere. I connected up a Fluke multimeter to the SATA power output, set to peak min mode, to see if I get any undervolting... Nope, no problem there. I ran stress tests on my sd card on my computer - it was PERFECT. I was completely stumped... Until, after getting an Anker charging cable, and having a really good run with the new Armbian release - the system had been working for an hour without glitches, apt-get worked, I hav…

Hi, I used to run a RPi3 as a VPN and DNS-Server (PiHole) and it worked like a charm. Since the RPI3 is a bit oversized for this work I bought a NanoPi Neo 512MB and installed armbian Ubuntu 4.9.x, but I have some issues with it: - eth0 is only connected by 100/half duplex. I can set it manually to full duplex with autoneg off, but after a few secondes it falls back to 10(!) half duplex. with autoneg on it comes back to 100 half duplex (the amber led is off; cable and switch are ok) - the MAC-Adress is changing every reboot. I have to fix it manually - I can set up Pihole to use the Nanopi as a DNS-Server and it works well in the LAN, until I connect over openVP…

I have problem with transmission-deamon on my CubieA20. It not starting listening on boot. Only after service restart. Met same problem on Raspberry-3 but it cured by enabling "boot to wait until a network connection is established" option. I checked the raspi-config and taken same measures on my A20 ("ExecStart=/sbin/dhcpcd -q -w" etc). Not succeeded! Anyone have alternate methods? There's some more applications that not starting on boot if connection not active, Blynk-client for ex. PS: I use legacy kernel on 5.25 Armbian. UPD: Problem resolved by editing /etc/network/interfaces.

I just ordered a couple of Orange Pi Zero systems to use in small IoT projects. Reading the forum I see the wireless for Orange Pi Zero might have issues. But some of the posts wanted to use it as an AP. That's not my case, I'll test them when they get here, but just how bad is it? I will not have a heavy load, but I would like something stable. When push comes to shove should I plan on using an Ethernet cable rather than the wifi?

Thanks for your effort on this project. Much appreciated. I was able to follow this tutorial (10 minutes, 24 seconds in) on the Debian image to get the TV out working. I'm building scripts to modify the networking between a number of modes - super helpful to get a console access when I break something and lose all networking access. Is there support for this on the Ubuntu side? The simple "add 'tv' to the bottom of "/etc/modules" doesn't do anything. Please advise. Thanks!

After receiving several Orange Pi Zeros and a Pi+2E, I have been experiment on different ways to connect them using the g_ether and usbnet modules, and configuring the Zero OTG port as slave (mode 2). My last attempt was to use the Pi+2E as a data concentrator, connecting three different OPIZ on the independent USB channels, creating ethernet over USB links ... this have been my week's nightmare. By now these are my findings (could change with more information at hand). 1) The Pi+2E enables 4 different usb ports. The usb0 is the OTG microUSB port, and the usb1, usb2 and usb3 are the other exposed type A USB ports. 2) The usb0 has a particular MAC Address and…

Hi I need to set static IP in eth0 and wlan0 in my OPi Zero using ARMBIAN Jessie. Googling around, I read a lot of controversial options, like edit /etc/network/interfaces and use nmtui, but, I couldn't set BOTH eth0 and wlan0 to a static IP. If I do it for eth0, wlan0 doesn't work and vice-versa. One guy said that after Debian Jessie version (https://nebulousthinking.wordpress.com/2016/02/25/setting-a-static-ip-for-raspbian-jessie-in-2016/), some things changed to set up static IP. Now, from Jessie, we need to edit /etc/ dhcpcd.conf, but, where is it ( dhcpcd.conf )? Can someone instruct me about how to set static IP, please? Sergio
