  1. I configured the on board wifi access point on my Orange Pi Lite, (WPA / WPA2 encrypted, hostapd, dnsmasq). Everything was fine. I could power the board, connect to its wi-fi and ssh into it. Just a day ago I connected to the board with ssh, just to test that it was working and closed the connection immediately. So I know that it should be working and that all the configs are good. But now I keep on getting Connection Timed Out error, tested under Arch Linux and Mac (as the connecting clients). Under arch linux my card finds the wi-fi, finds its bssid and gets to sending an "ASSOCIATING" request which gets a Timeout response. It does not seem to be a hardwa…

  3. Hi! I thought, I might save some energy by using a Sinovoip Banana Pi M2+EDU (it is like the M2+ but no WiFi and no display (EDIT: I mean 8 GB EMMC) and 512MiB DRAM) instead of an Atom N270. Here at armbian.com/download I only found "legacy" 3.4 images, which work nicely... I wonder, if it is a good idea to stick somelhing into public internet with a 3.4 kernel... So I tried to install lhe latest archlinuxarm kernel tar ball with a git clone of u-boot (using Sinovoip_BPI_M2_plus_defconfig) and it boots nicely, but: 1. There is no eth0 (so it is much safer from the public inet, than I like) and 2. there is no cpufreq (so it gets quite warm and i can't eve…

I got an OrangePi Pc, and I see that Mali GPU frequency has been rolled back to 252 Mhz, or at least the kernel is saying so in dmesg. I took a look into the changelog, the frequency has been increased to nominal 600 Mhz in armbian v5.15, but now I installed a fresh 5.20, upgraded to latest packages and I see that kernel initializes the GPU at 252 Mhz. I found no traces of this rollback in the changelog. As I'm currently testing the SBC as a desktop replacement, I'm guessing if the increased gpu frequency could be of any benefit to the interface snappiness.

I've been playing around with my orange pi pc for a while now, not really wanting to spend much time on it (family, children, work, you know the story) or dig into details, and did not find any PnP distro that was 100% satisfactory (always something missing, unstable,...), until I gave a try to armbian. Apart from a weird kernel panic at the end of every shutdown, everytying is running smoothly so far. I'm now in the process of installing OctoPrint to drive my 3D printer and I am facing a problem with python virtualenv. Basically trying to execute…

  15. First sorry for starting a similar thread here and in [1]. I try to read a DS18B20, which does not work with Armbian, DietPi, and Friendlyarm's Ubuntu. This morning, my idea was to slow down the CPU - and it worked. In detail: By running some useless cpu consuming python scripts, reading the DS18B20 works fine. As soon as i stop them, reading the sensor immediately fails. So there might be some timing issues in the implementations of w1-gpio and w1-gpio-board. Are there any hints how i can get these issues fixed? Thanks! Thomas [1] http://www.friendlyarm.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=393

I have had a look at the FEX file and these seem to be mapped correctly to UARTS's port 1 & 2 so I would expect these to be mapped to /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/ttyS2 but this does not seem to be the case. If I try to connect to these UARTs using screen I simply get the message: - root@orangepizero:~# screen /dev/ttyS1 9600 [screen is terminating] I have tried searching these forums and Google but have not really found anything - any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. 27. So I'm pretty new at using serial ports in linux so not even sure if this is the right place. I'm playing around with MIDI using the serial ports on the Orange PiLite - it uses the baud rate of 31250 to achieve this you use setserial to get the base_baud (which it reports as 1500000) and you divide by the speed you want to get the divisor i.e. 1500000/31250 = 48 this becomes >setserial /dev/ttyS1 divisor 48 speed_cust So now when you use 38400 as your baud speed it actually becomes 31250.... ...in theory after some fiddling I found the divsor is actually 50 as 48 gives you weird results which would suggest that the base_baud is actually 1562…

  40. I used the wrong power adapter this morning on one of my OPI PC... what could go wrong? So far, I noticed that the poor U5 - SY8008B regulator overheated and blew. From the schematics, this seems to be connected to "AVCC" (the H3's PLL and the TV out). U11 isn't outputting anything, but chip select is off. Since this is the USB host, I'm not too surprised. Is it worth trying to reflow a new regulator on ? Wondering...

I think the problem is with allwinner audiocodec because when I use usb sound card everything works as expected ( them same sound levels in mpd and mplayer ). Is there any trick to solve this?

Hi guys, I tried to disable console output on uart0 using this guide https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Fine-Tuning/#how-to-toggle-boot-output But I still get boot output on uart0. Problem is, that I'm using uart0 for a java application. Java application crashes a few seconds after starting. I got the hint, that I should disable console output on this port, to make it working. See here: http://pi4j.com/example/serial.html I think that's the problem, because if I unplug my serial device from uart0, java app doesn't crash. I'm using Banana Pi. Kernel is Verison 4.8.12. Armbian is Jessie 5.24 with desktop. How can I disable the output? Yours, Martin

  54. I just tried my Orange Pi PC with a Samsung TV connected via the HDMI port. I'm able to log in to the desktop OK, but when screen updates happen (e.g. when I scroll around in the web browser) the display goes black momentarily, then comes back after a fraction of a second. This seems to be worse for some applications (e.g. the web browser) than others (e.g. terminal), and so far I haven't seen it while not running X. Also, playing videos (with mpv) does not cause it. I'm running this image with no customisations: http://image.armbian.com/Armbian_5.20_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z Any ideas how to fix this?

  59. I bought an Orange Pi PC "Set 9" that came with ribbon camera module (total 20 eur) to compare with Raspberry 3. After finally getting it to take a picture using fswebcam I find the images very low quality. Most passable without any extra lighting is 640x480. 800x600 and 1600x1200 produce nearly black images. Using Raspberry 3 with similarly priced chinese camera produce much better images with lower lighting. Am I missing something or is the camera quality this bad in comparison? I usually expect OK results from "chinese clones" but this is really. The best image I could get was: sudo fswebcam -r 640x480 --fps 25 -p YUV420P cam.jpg

Hi specialists, I'm trying to understand how the axp209 on Banana Pi works with the A20. In the Banana Pi schematics I see, that they are connected with only four lines. Two lines are used for I²C (TWSI), one is from axp209 PWROK to RESET# of A20 and another one is connected from axp209 IRQ and GPIO2 to NMI# of A20. When system is off and I press my Power Button (K1) on the Pi, the system is booting. System is running and I long press the Power Button, System shuts down. But can anyone say whats happening? What does axp209 do with IRQ, GPIO2 and PWROK pins? Wich way does the A20 recognize, that it has to shutdown? Yours Martin

hi, I have an OPI pc with armbian (legacy kernel), plan to set it as NAS. due to it has 4 USB ports without internal hub, so I decide to connect 3 USB HDD to it, and create a LVM+RAID5. but unfortunately, OPI pc can only recognize 2 USB HDD(any 2 of these 3 USB hdd), at any USB ports, the 3rd USB HDD can be found by lsusb but stops at "spinning up...." no /dev/sdc. but if I insert an USB disk, (with 2 USB HDD already inserted), it can be recognized and /dev/sdc is created. I guess whether there is a power supply issue. can this be fixed by USB HDD with additional power supply? is that right?

Only got it yesterday (took like a month after arriving in the country [AU]). Did nand-sata-install, successful and rebooted - and now running Armbian off eMMC - runs sweet. Really impressed so far - VASTLY better experience than Pine64 (I'm looking for a desktop experience on Arm - for no other reason than "because it's there"). Got Chromium browser working - synergy KVM and Plan…

  95. I tried the 3.4.112 on Pi One and 3.4.113 on Pi Zero. Both have the same problem which is that no unicast packets are flowing into the macvlan device when I run tcpdump on it. The device was created like this: ip link add link eth0 address 1E:74:C0:DC:BB:01 vlan mtu 1500 type macvlan I can see inbound broadcast and multicast packets though. Outbound packets also seem fine. I can see arp request and ICMP request (if set static arp entry on PI) from the other end. Does anybody have any clue what it could it?

  96. Hi, In my OPi PC, the image "Armbian_5.20_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112" resolves .local hosts well, e.g. ` ping rpi1.local ` but the image "Armbian_5.20_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop" does not, it gives 'ping: unknown host rpi1.local', and it's quite odd, because an ` avahi-resolve -n rpi1.local ` works... uname -a Linux orangepipc 3.4.112-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Sun Oct 23 16:06:55 CEST 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux Any ideas? Thank you

  97. I'd love to backup my X2 before I start to mess it up just to have a restore point somewhere at the start. Is it possible with a live linux and dd if / of?

  98. I bough an Orange Pi PC set 9 which came with a camera ( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Orange-Pi-PC-set-9-Pi-PC-and-Camera-with-wide-angle-lens-not-for-raspberry/32662572137.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.dIEdek ) After setting up armbian running etc. how do I do something with the camera (ie to see it works)? I have used raspberry and there I just type "raspistill -d" and a demo pops up. How do I do something like that? After browsing around I found that "modprobe gc2035" is along those lines but I only get "command not found". Doing a linux find does not find "modprobe". I reckon I have to install something else but what?

Hi I want to use SPI0 with cubietruck. SPI2 works. However I failed with SPI0. What needs to be done (in script.fex, kernel, etc) to get it work?

  100. I'm trying to build an A2DP server from either OPi Lite or Zero (whichever seems easier). As neither board has BT built-in I'm planning on using some cheap USB BT dongle. Web stores are filled with dongles, but info about their compatibility with Linux (and especially Armbian's legacy kernel) is not that readily available. Has anyone found a dongle that "just works" with OPi Lite or Zero? If yes, care to share e.g. Ali Express link or similar?
