Hi All, I would appreciate if someone can guide me on how to change the I2C speed? I'm using a OPI PC+ and the default speed is 400Khz when using the "IOCTL" method and would like to change to the standard 100Khz speed. Thank you

  2. Hi, I read the docs but could not find out what to download to get a headless server. Getting Started says: "mainline: headless server, light desktop operations" In mainline there are 2 downloads for server (Debian, Ubuntu) and one for desktop (Ubuntu). I do not need a desktop, thus I do not want to waste space, RAM and CPU on anything related to it. May I ask, what to download or if there is no headless version what to do to remove the desktop-features alltogether? Thank you very much. Stephan

Hi there, I recently purchased a NanoPi NEO Air from FriendlyElec with a CAM500B module. It works alright with the mjpg-streamer and their provided Ubuntu Core. I built an Arabian 5.27 Nano Pi Air Debian Jessie image with the default kernel and the device is no longer found. I've forced the load of ov5640 and vfe_v4l2 in /etc/modules, but /dev/video0 isn't appearing. The kernel log has this in it when the module is loaded: [ 116.519650] [OV5640@lex]init_sensor - frame_rate: 0, max_win_size: 11 If I boot back to Ubuntu Core via SD, the camera is back.

Hi there I wanted to ask if anybody got HDMI-CEC to work with their Orange Pi Lite. The data sheet says its supported, but I can't get it to work with Armbian. What I tried till now is installing cec-utils with all dependencies and running "cec-client -l", hoping it would work out-of-the-box: root@orangepilite:~# cec-client -l Found devices: NONE Tried different cables and HDMI Ports. CEC is enabled in the TV (Samsung). After a bit of googling (and trying some stuff applying to the RPi) I am now thinking that maybe the kernel hasn't got CEC support compiled in...? root@orangepilite:~# uname -a Linux orangepilite 3.4.112-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Sun Oct 23 16:…

  6. Apologies if this is documented/reported somewhere else, but I can't see anything on a quick forum search. I received two Orange Pi Zeros this morning, and eagerly downloaded the Orange Pi Zero flavour of Armbian (Xenial Legacy) and loaded it up on a good 8GB microSD. I then started using it, updating it, and suddenly realised that it only had a 1.4GB partition when it failed to finish updating due to insufficient space. I thought since I'd had some issues logging into it that I might have interrupted the first boot resize, so I re-imaged it, and loaded it up, left if five minutes, and then logged. No cigar... says it is still 1.4GB (1.4GB size, 1.2GB used, 2…

  7. Hello, I managed to run OPi as a media player using OpenELEC (works charmingly fast - much much better than on RasPi), bun on Armbian (legacy kernel - 3.4.113) something went not too good Firsty, I burn desktop Xenial image onto SD card, dropped into Orange, and everything worked fine besides sound via HDMI - even locally played MP3 files were stuttering, not mentioning Youtube in Chromium - CPU usage was in range of 30-40 percent. Sound in TV speakers were annoying- one second of music, long pause, repeated until I press stop button. So I gave up with Xenial, write a Jessie server image (also legacy kernel), installed XFCE with all recommende…

Hi to All, I found this project extremely useful and start customization process in the following directions: customize packet set for deploying into A20-Olinuxino-Lime2-4GB based server box use read only Root FS on NAND and SD with overlayfs and USB automount capability fully configurable by scripts in userpatches and up-gradable by web interface only completely none interactive (no tty1, ttyS0, ssh etc.) and controllable via web interface only Armbian project usage is a must in later maintenance so the customization has to be done by userpatches only. Final project has to be ready for automated builds. On the first step while trying to remove changing root pass…

  11. Hello guys, I read a lot but did not find the answer I'm trying to Turn ON / Turn OFF my Orange pi lite HDMI output like with my raspberry pi (with the help of /opt/vc/bin/tvservice -o ... etc) But I'm not able to find a similar command to do it. I only found some tips to do it at start-up only My goal is, after some times, turn OFF HDMI output (via python script) to force my monitor to switch into sleep mode. Do you have any ideas ? 13. Hello, I've just switched from bananian to armbian (as many others here as I've seen), and successfully finished migrating everything. I use the Banana as a little home server, NAS, sane/cups printer sharer and home cloud. I want to use docker on it, but I'm finding some difficulties to make it run. I'm currently on 4.9.12-sunxi. I've tried installing docker from the ubuntu repo but it doesn't seem to work. I've seen some topics about building a custom kernel for this, is this necessary? Did someone managed to make docker run? Thanks.

Both DC-in and battery input seem to be short-circuited, but I cannot find the exact position. Power via USB-OTG works (successful boot). 23. Hi, I have a question regarding the new Banana Pi (A20) boot script created in Armbian 5.25. Many months ago I switched my roots from the SDCard to the sata disk using the sata-nand-install script, after that I used to switch between SD and HDD and vice versa, mostly for maintenance operations on the HDD (sometime the system gets corrupted and I have to restore the HDD partition with e2fsck from the SD). Until Armbian 5.20 I used to edit the boot.cmd file pointing to the desired root device, recompile the boot.scr and then the system were loaded from the desired partition. Hi All, Sorry if this has been asked before, I haven't been able to find the answer yet. I wish to configure my OrangePi's (Lite and PC+) such that they power on automatically whenever the power is restored after a power outage without needing to press the power button. I'm not sure where we could configure this as the OrangePi's don't seem to have a bios like a Desktop PC. Dave.

  31. I realize there have been a few topics on this, but it seems to me that this was considered fixed. When using 5.23 with a 4.8 kernel, the MAC address was stable. After upgrading to 5.25, the MAC address was still the same as before. However after an outage, the two boards running 5.25 came up with a new MAC address (two boards still running 5.23 came up with the same MAC address). Then the MAC address seems to change every boot. The problem is that the FiOS router (an ActionTec) I have remembers both the machine name and the MAC address (it nicely creates a DNS entry). If the same name appears with a different MAC address, it ignores the name from DHCP and cre…

  36. Have not been able to confirm if it is possible for the Orange Pi Zero to act as a virtual mass storage device. I would like to be able to plug this into a device and have that device treat the Pi Zero as a USB drive, and write to the on board SD as such. I believe this requires USB on the go so that the device can be USB slave. Any input on the topic is appreciated. I know the Raspberry Pi Zero W supports this, but I think i will have better luck with the wireless having an external antenna on the Orange Pi Zero.

I want to use an ESP-12F to add wireless to my NanoPi Neo, but I don't think the Neo has broken out all the connections I'd need. Hackaday desctibes how to interface a Raspberry Pi B+ to an ESP-12F (https://hackaday.io/project/8678/instructions), but the Neo seems to lack some of the required pins. I like this idea since I've liked the performance and ability of every esp8266 system I've used. Their wifi network is solid, and they're low cost. Is this a lost cause or is it possible? Or perhaps this is a dumb idea? I'm not sure how well it'll perform vs a usb wifi modules, but the idea has captured my imagination.

But when I want to boot it there is only still green light (steady all time). OPI not giving any boot information on screen. This issue is not caused by SD card becasue I tried two (which one is recommended): Kingston 32GB (class 10) and Samsung EVO+ 32GB. Has anyone had similar experience or have any idea how to solve this?

  48. I am using the latest Armbian version with a legacy kernel on my M2+ board. The Armbian forum has already been a great source of help. Now I am facing a new issue: - for my setup the IPv6 NAT netfilter module is required, which was introduced in Kernel 3.7 So in my understanding I have two options: a) backport the kernel module(s) to the legacy Kernel by customizing the armbian build process switch to the mainline Kernel The mainline kernel for H3 boards seems to lack support for Gigabit ethernet and in general still remains no recommended for potential overheating problems? Thus, I guess I have to get working on the Kernel module backports. Do yo…

  49. Hello, I'm using Armbian Xenial with ethernet on my local network. SSH and PostgreSQL seem to disconnect a lot. This is really frustrating with sshfs when I try to work with files on the Orange Pi Zero as a file server.. I tried setting a keepalive every second and that doesn't help either. I don't see anything in the logs that hints to anything. I have not attempted to use wifi. I did just notice the timezone was wrong, so I'll see tomorrow if that has something to do with it.

  52. Hi guys, I bought the orange zero and then I realized how poor wifi. I had some wifi modules from old tablets at home, they are rlt8188eu. After I joined the orange, there was another problem. Wifi driver could not be initialized, because I knew that these modules can operate on orange pc out of box, I began to research the problem. Cause I am linux ZERO, it took me longer time, but I finally found soulution. Problem was in fex file for orange zero, wifi_usbc_type = it´s without parameter, after I added some parameter ( "5" from working orange pc fex), wifi work like a charm. I´m not sure if it´s purpose, or bug, so I write you....

  53. Hello, My project for Orange Pi Lite will be used in a car. To make the installation easy for everyone I would like to supply it from car lighter socket. Of course, this solution is not perfect (frequent insert/pull the plug by the user, current decays etc.). I mean problems with switching off without shutdown. I also mean how uSD will stand it. For now, I thing to attach an 18650 cell with booster/charger which will work as a "buffer" to keep current when the lighter socket is off. But I am afraid that it can keep power only for 1-2 hour. Is there a possibility to check the power level of the connected cell and shut down the system when the power is low? P…

  54. Hi everyone, I was doing speed tests on the XR819 and started looking at the driver code. My this looks very similar to the cw1200 driver already in mainline Linux. I started modifying the cw1200 driver to try and get it to work with the XR819. Apart from someone renaming functions and adding a bunch of important junk for XR819, the drivers are quite similar. I've modified the cw1200 driver up to the point that it's loading the boot_cw1x60.bin ( boot_xr819.bin ) file, but for some reason the bootloader is returning an error instead of success. I don't think it's possible to diagnose this without the datasheet from ST. Clearl…

I believe that it detaches from wifi and go into freeze. I have already ruled out power supply problems and overheating. Someone can help me?My image is: Armbian_5.25_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial. Received a batch of OPi PCs and one is not booting. In serial console I get only: U-Boot SPL 2016.09 (Oct 15 2016 - 14:20:45) DRAM: 1024 MiB Trying to boot from MMC1 And that's all. What's wrong with it? SD card and PSU verified working with another OPi devices.
