  1. Hey folks, So here's the setup I have: I have an Orange Pi 4B running the Orange Pi 4 image and kernel 5.6.17-rockchip64. I have an Orange Pi 4 running the Orange Pi RK3399 image and kernel 5.4.26-rockchip64 (cause when I got it, the Orange Pi 4 images weren't out yet). The OPi4 is running just fine. I imagine that I'm running the wrong DTB and that not all the hardware is working properly -- but the hardware I need is working just fine. The OPi4B is another story. It'll boot just fine, and it'll run just fine for days/weeks on end -- as long as I don't put it under any sort of heavy CPU load. But if I start running anythi…

  3. This overlays settings worked well until I have compiled my own .dtbo file and call it with overlay=..xyz... , after that all yet working overlays stopped working, even if I removed them. The boot process now skips this overlay settings. After examination, I have found file "/boot/boot.scr" and "/boot/dtb-5.4.44-rockchip64/rockchip/overlay/rockchip-fixup.scr" had some garbage characters at beginning. I didn't change anything, neither I did open them before, those files simply got garbage. After deleting the garbage chars, it won't boot anymore. Before I had tried also spi-spidev and spi-nor

Picked up a P1 Pro the other day. Used the P1 installer, and it boots fine. However WiFi and m.2 dont work ( no m.2 makes it useless for me.. WiFi, i can use a dongle ) so i assume the device tree needs changed. Still a newbie at this, so unsure how i can find or extract the tree from somewhere else. They do have a couple of official builds of other OS, but not real sure how to get it from there, if you even can. Lots of googling for a tree has come up empty.

Hello, thank you for your new image work. However, although I wrote to write your image to emmc or sd card, the device does not respond at all. The previous version Armbian_23.11.1_Panther-x2_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz works normally on my panther device. The new version and minimal iot version do not boot at all. I kindly request your information about Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.25_Panther-x2_bookworm_current_6.6.47_minimal .img.xz.

  12. About a year ago, I installed the OpenMediaVault image for CM3588-NAS from here: https://www.armbian.com/nanopc-cm3588-nas/ The image is debian-bookworm, which has since become oldstable, while trixie is the new stable. Is it possible to upgrade the distribution and move to trixie packages, even though there are no trixie images for CM3588-NAS? 14. Hi community, I am experiencing an issue reinstalling Armbian on my Helios64. I tried all methods including booting from an SD card, flashing the image onto the eMMC directly but every time I boot, I get kernel panic (flashing status light). I also can't connect to the USB via TTY to diagnose the issue. My macbook keeps detecting the /dev/tty.usbserial-DT03OEIM and the next second it is gone. I wanted to install the original Buster image but I cannot find it anymore in any of the archives. It's kind of disappointing because what's the purpose of an archive then if not hold on to an image for a few years. My current theories…

My understanding of device trees is superficial I have not had good success. I have read the kernels DT docs many times. 20. I have noticed that the NanoPi M4V2 has an OPP table which causes the device to overclock; the table is suitable for an RK3399K SoC, but the M4V2 has a standard RK3399 SoC with maximum speeds of 1.42GHz for the A53 cores and 1.80GHz for the A72 cores (despite FriendlyArm themselves citing the K speeds in marketing material, which is incorrect). I believe that this may also be causing stability issues with my unit, however I will be performing additional testing (I cannot find where it is getting the "extended" OPP tables from, so I am limiting it via cpufreq-set and testing for stability.) Does anyone have any insight or ideas?

  29. I have the newest Armbian 28.08.0-trunk image running on a NanoPi R6C with a 4TB NVMe SSD. The NanoPi is only connected to power and 1G ethernet via the 1G WAN port. When using the machine as NAS with Samba and a Windows client connected there is a strange problem when receiving large files. The files are stored on the NVMe SSD with ~450MB/s read/write via PCIe 2.1x1. When transmitting files from the NanoPi to a SMB client the 1G ethernet is maxed out but when receiving files the connection drops down to ~60 MB/s every few seconds. This instantly gets fixed when using the 2.5G LAN port instead of the 1G WAN port. On that po…

  55. Hello All, I recently bought Orange Pi RK3399 and had some problems with it. At this moment I've solved most of them, but still no luck with such an old OS like Ubuntu Server 16.04 or Debian 9 which were provided by the manufacturer (images to flash). What I am thinking now is to move this board to Armbian. Will it work? How should I in this case organize the partitions on eMMC and where to load kernel and rootfs? I don't see this board in supported ones.

Hello, i'm experiencing random reboots on my RockPi 4b. I firstly recognoized this when my Squid Proxy Server was not working anymore because it had no permissions to its var/log/squid directory. What i saw (lsblk) that /var/log/ is only of a size of 50mb. Will that be the cause for the reboots? Does the system crash when the logs are full? My System is a Rock Pi 4b with 32gb emmc storage. Hi, I'm very pleased with my Helios 64, but since I updated to Armbian 20.11.6 (from 20.08.11 or 21, not really sure) it reboots at random times: it can run fine for over two weeks and reboot twice in 36 hours, always when idling. It's running OMV as well a multiple Docker containers: PiHole, Wireguard, Nginx, Transmission, restic-server and n8n. Is it a common issue? What fixes do you recommend? What should I look for to diagnose the issue? Thank you. Edit: forgot to mention that I'm using SnapRAID and mergerFS, as well as NFS shares.

  62. Hi, I was trying to load below Armbian images into NanoPi M4 (just M4, neither M4B nor M4V2). 63. During installing Helios64 with the latest image I experienced several times that the system did not come up. Now that it is fully installed with OMV enabled, I sometimes do a reboot, and the system does not come up. Unfortunately I cannot see anything on the console level (on MacOS). After pressing the reboot button (around one or two times) the system comes up as nothing happened ever. What can I do to have the system reboot in a stable manner? Since it will sit in the basement soon, I don't want to run down every time I see that it does not reboot properly.

  64. I don't know if it's of any use. Just noticed this issue of reboot not working on Buster legacy. Seems to be hdmi related. When I pull out hdmi for a few seconds then it does start booting. 66. Has anyone here tested the Rock64 successfully with an u-boot version which is not the one from ayufan? I did not have much luck with the rk3328 default config and mainline u-boot when I tried it a while back. The same is true when I tried to use the board config from ayufan with mainline u-boot. The version by ayufan is working in principle but also is rather dated as far as I know and therefore does not support some newer features. Anyone knows if the version from ayufan will be bumped or has a working config for a more recent u-boot version?

  67. Hi!, I am playing around with customizing my boot script (to install later my custom distro), and I am fighting with the Recovery. I took a long time to understand I have to press the recovery button during a "long time", then release it very quickly to get the UMS mode and not falling into the Maskrom mode. Indeed, when U-Boot detects the recovery button keypress, it proposes UMS, then very shortly after the Maskrom mode. Is it possible to configure U-Boot to wait longer on the UMS mode, let's say 5 seconds, and after that delay switch to Maskrom mode as latest failover? First Rockchip RK3399 based board from Orangepi maker - under development, not much news except what can be scrapped from pictures. Chip: http://rockchip.wikidot.com/rk3399

  94. I have a suggestion for the moderators: Please move the Rockchip 3399 subforum from development to Bug Tracker if its ok! Most of the boards listed there: Nanopi Neo4, M4, NanoPC T4, Rock64PRO, Rock Pi4 are now marked as supported on the Armbian download page. I read a comment from @Igor sometime ago (not able to locate right now) that the only thing holding back the sub forum transfer was a lack of moderator action. Thanks.

Hi all, currently i'm working on upcoming Helios64 board. For RK3399 board there are 2 families, what are the differences between them? I've been following discussion on github and this forum for few months but still unsure which family i should use.

  96. After bootup I get # systemd-analyze Bootup is not yet finished. Please try again later. # systemctl list-jobs JOB UNIT TYPE STATE 142 systemd-update-utmp-runlevel.service start waiting 114 rk3399-bluetooth.service start running 1 multi-user.target start waiting If I stop rk3399-bluetooth.service everything completes and list-jobs is clean, but then bluetooth stops working. I've tried a few things in the rk3399-bluetooth unit file but so far I've not been able to find a way to make systemd happy and finish cleanly. By the way, in the service file i…

  97. Started by GBEM,

I'm curious to experiment with LLMs on an RK3566 TV Box. I managed to build a working Debian disto for it, but wasn't able to locate any NPU support in the kernel configuration. Anyone know how to build such a kernel for the RK3566, with support for the inbuilt NPU, or preferably, how to add build a NPU kernel module that can be linked-in? Any hints, suggestion or links greatly appreciated. GBEM 👽

  98. Hello, I am trying to enable Panfrost GPU acceleration on a new Armsom Sige5 board running the latest edge kernel (6.1.115), but glxinfo -B still shows llvmpipe. I have been troubleshooting this for some time and have discovered that the kernel module (panfrost.ko) loads correctly with modprobe, but it is not binding to the GPU hardware on boot. I believe I have found the reason why. A recent commit to the Armbian build system (https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/836def3d11699537e6289dedfbc766c2050d422d) changes the method for enabling Panfrost. It removes the panfrost overlay and adds KERNEL_TARGET_CONFIG="panfrost-all" instead. It…

RK3576 nanopi M5 cannot start Waydrod I am trying to use Waydrod on the nanopi M5, and I am starting it up CONFIG_ANDROID_BINDER_IPC=y CONFIG_ANDROID_BINDERFS=y CONFIG_ANDROID_BINDER_DEVICES="binder,hwbinder,vndbinder" However, during the actual startup of Waydrod, there was a continuous black screen crash and restart. The following is the error log: nano@nanopi-m5:$ waydroid show-full-ui [13:55:56] Introspect error on :1.103:/ContainerManager: dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. 100. Hi there!!! LTNS. Not pretending to ask for a solution. Just curious, what am I doing wrong, after a decade with Armbian. ;) A new Chinese board with RK3567, quite similar to kickPi. Boots up to "INFO: BL31: Initializing BL32" then hangs. Changing DTB in armbianEnv.txt does nothing, same is for verbosity. I guess there's some pre-DTB in uboot, as I recall, this is common with RK chips. And it seems to not match my hardware. Any reasonable way to fix, before i rebuild the whole image? Thanks in advance!
