Hello, download page for odroid M1 states: I have two questions: - Does that mean that the system will be installed on SD or eMMC? or does that meant booting on SD is just for startup to launch system stored on NVMe (or any other storage)? - Is there a plan for booting from M.2 NVMe M-Key PCIe3.0 2-Lane in the future? Thanks Julien

When using the "boot from SD install to NVMe" option of armbian-config it offered the option to format the NVMe drive with btrfs. When I selected that option, it briefly flashed an error about the partition being too small (even though I had created a 120GB partition). The actual problem appears to have been that btrfs-progs was not installed. After installing that package and rerunning armbian-config it was possible to btrfs format and install successfully. I suggest the error message could be improved. Armbian_22.11.1_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_5.15.80_minimal.img.xz

Would anyone be able to help me out with instructions for installing armbian to the EMMC of my Rock Pi N10? I've had Ubuntu installed using the OTG tool and also Armbian running off an SD card, but as soon as I run armbian-install and reboot the device doesn't come back up. Not sure what I'm doing wrong or the correct steps to troubleshoot.

I just saw the post how to get kodi working with a legacy kernel. I want to get ffmpeg working in a docker (specifically for frigate). Do i also need to install the legacy kernel on my machine and do the same steps and only then get the ffmpeg installed in the docker or can anyone help me how to start with this.

Rockchip has released bsp kernel 5.10 for rk356x and rk3588. Since multimedia support is not fully supported by mainline kernel, a legacy kernel would be good if you want h264/hevc hardware decode. To make kodi support hardware decoding, you need: 1, ffmpeg supporting rkmpp. I've packaged it in my ppa: https://launchpad.net/~liujianfeng1994/+archive/ubuntu/rockchip-multimedia, which is based on the patch from https://github.com/JeffyCN/FFmpeg/. 2, kodi built with gles render system, which is also in my ppa 3, a gpu driver supporting gles. For rk356x you can use mainline panfrost driver. For rk3588 you can use panfork-mesa from my ppa: https://launchpad…

I am trying to provision QEmu/KVM to run a Kubernetes cluster based on Ubuntu Cloud Image instances. I am using the latest release of Armbian on 16GB Rock 5B. Release kernel. I tried to install Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Rockpi-4b_bullseye_current_5.15.76_minimal.img.xz from https://github.com/radxa-build/rock-pi-4b/releases/tag/20221101-0235 After first reboot main partition goes readonly. Checking disk show free cluster records mismatch. It is not SD-card issue, because Ubuntu Server on same SD-card working perfectly.

I installed tvheadend on Armbian 22.08 Jammy and Bullseye using the 5.15 kernel. Tvheadend runs fine for a while and then freezes and disconnects filling the log file with the following message: rock64 kernel : au0828: recv_control_msg() Failed receiving control message, error -71. At first I thought it was a problem with Jammy, but I still had the same problem on Bullseye. So I switched to the legacy kernel 4.4.213-rockchip64 and I do not have the problem. I am using a Rock64 Ver. 2 with usb dvb tuner for tvheadend and it is stable running Bullseye with kernel 4.4.213. I am not sure what changed between these kernel ve…

Have an OPi 4B with installed Armbian (Armbian_21.05.1_Orangepi4_buster_legacy_4.4.213_xfce_desktop.img from here) which is working perfectly. HUGE thanks for that. So i wanted to try images with mainline kernel and found that none of XFCE desktop images from the archive can correctly output HDMI signal for my screen, maximum i could achive was compressed and flickering image using method from docs (editing /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/40-monitor.conf). by default there are no modes in /sys/class/drm/card0-HDMI-A-1/modes in mainline images and in legacy one there are two: 1280x800p60 and 1280x800p57. EDID is there in both images. And if i set resolution via /…

Hi, community! I wish you have a nice day! Started investigating why do I have problems trying to hear something from headphones. So, I believe there is something about HDMI audio codec related to panfrost, attached you will find info about. I guess this will be useful to catch bugs. I'm 73 years old, started on computers on NCR Century 100 as field engineer. From those years to now, a long development has brought to life.... Cheers, and many thanks to you! dmesg112222.txt armbianmonitor112122.txt

Hello, i am pretty new to arm embedded. I have a Rock64 V3.0 2019-0626 So I downloaded Armbian 22.08 Jammy XFCE from https://www.armbian.com/rock64/ and copied it on a 265GB SanDisk Extreme microsd XC 1 V30 A2 using Balena Etcher. Boot process did work, but startxfc4 did not work. The system just went on a blackscreen, but i could still switch to another terminal with alt+f1 ... Best regards, Bo

I downloaded the latest Armbian 22.08 image for the NanoPi M4V2 (https://armbian.chi.auroradev.org/dl/nanopim4v2/archive/Armbian_22.08.8_Nanopim4v2_jammy_current_5.15.75.img.xz), flashed it to an sd card and tried to boot my NanoPi M4 (non-V2 board). It crashes every time with the attached log. I have tried 4 different power supplies, so I don't think that's the issue. I tried the Bullseye CLI image and it fails in the same way. The Sid server image works fine. Any ideas? Thanks, Ben

Hello, I am new to this forum and struggling with some stuff on the Tinkerboard S R2.0. I use the CLI-version of Armbian Jammy of 23 october 2022. I have to activate several features. I think two of them might relate to 'missing firmware'. 1. Activating a AccessPoint: during the installation of raspAP I get a set of error on 'missing firmware'. 2. Installing a modem: not a single USB-device gets recognized by lsusb. I am stuck at the very beginning. lsusb is working on the xfce but we want a leaner system. I tried the latest TinkerOS but I require a more updated version of python (3.10) and I also would like to stick t…

Picked up a P1 Pro the other day. Used the P1 installer, and it boots fine. However WiFi and m.2 dont work ( no m.2 makes it useless for me.. WiFi, i can use a dongle ) so i assume the device tree needs changed. Still a newbie at this, so unsure how i can find or extract the tree from somewhere else. They do have a couple of official builds of other OS, but not real sure how to get it from there, if you even can. Lots of googling for a tree has come up empty.

By pure accident, I discovered that Ctrl-Alt-F1 while the P2 is booting brings up more options on mine that allows the deletion of firmware and clearing of emmc. I have not done it but the menus are there.

I'm trying to get this rockpro64 board to boot off of pxe/nfs. I'm able to get it to boot into armbian and to the point where it asks for the new root password. But something happens on the device where the network gets disabled which stops the NFS connectivity and the rest of the system with it. All traffic stops on the device and it becomes unreachable. NFS traffic stops, it no longer responds to pings, etc. It's not entirely frozen, for example it prints kernel messages to console if the ethernet is pulled. And after a few minutes the nfs connection times out and it starts printing this over and over. It always happens about 75 seconds…

Hi guys. I've been working with the 4.19 kernel before on M2. I upgraded to the kernel version 5.18 today. I found that I can't find the registered udc device anymore. This is auto-registered on the 4.19 kernel and you can find it under /sys/class/udc. root@station-m2:/boot# ls /sys/class/udc fcc00000.dwc3 I would like to ask how to enable the udc device on the 5.18 kernel. Thank you.

Howdy With a p2 that already had ubuntu installed on the ssd using the firefly technique, it seemed time to upgrade using to armbian. Installing the new uboot went fine. It is not clear how to confirm it. The command did not error. However using the jammy 22.08 images, the uuid does not appear to be on the SD card. At this time I do not have a serial cable. However the image shows sum of the situation. Any help appreciated including advice on rj45 to serial cable. Thanks.

Is there a method to boot with BSP kernel (the 4.4 kernel supplied by Rockchip/Radxa) on an existing install (jammy) to compare power usage to mainline kernel (5.15.y current or even 5.19.y rolling)? I tried using the switch kernel support in armbian-config, but the linux-image-legacy-rockchip64 4.4.213-rockchip64 just hung during early boot and had to recover to linux-image-current-rockchip64 5.15.69 . P.S. This is related to my question on the Radxa forums about reducing Rock Pi 4 B+ power usage.

Dear all I have a question concerning the Tinker Board video playback function. Until now I used some raspberry PIs 3b to create a simple system that video playbacks in loop after booting for my video installations. Now as the raspberries are not in stock at the moment but i need very urgently another working system, i saw that i can buy the tinker board 2.0 for a reasonable price. However, I'm not a programming specialist and was happy when I got the raspberry to run, I couldn't found anything about the tinker board and specially about a video loop function. I imagine that it is possible, just wondering how complicated it is. Can someone tell me …

System logs: http://ix.io/4bd2 I have been using Armbian OS with Rock Pi 4B. The problem with Rock Pi 4B is that it doesn't have a power-on/off button. So, for closed systems with no keyboard/UI, there is no way to shutdown/start the system properly. Only option is to disconnect the power cable, which has corrupted my OS few times(by the way didn't happen on Debian). I implemented shutdown function through MRAA library and by attaching a button to 40-pin GPIO header. But with this approach, system can go to sleep, but cannot wake-up through button because my software is not running. As I have understood, the best approach to have a proper button f…

I planned to upgrade and skip current 5.18 (EOL) with edge 5.19 or just use LTS 5.15. Offcial images 5.19/edge (e.g. Armbian_22.08.1_Nanopct4_sid_edge_5.19.5.img.xz) won't boot at all, maybe a short uboot screen. Using uboot v22.04 like other rk3399 boards did not fix it. SInce the nanopct4.conf is boardfamily=media but also works with rockchip64 (which was changed some time ago), building with boardfamily=rockchip64 current 5.15 or edge 5.19 works fine, the cli builds boot as expected. Maybe a general question, which bordfamily fits now best to nanopct4. I remember exactly problems which were fixed bei 150balbes maintainer when pul…

This feels really awkward, since I already asked about this problem in another part of the forum, but the bug reporting system says that bugs should be reported by posting in this section of the forum. Hi there ... Not sure if anyone has an idea here, but I have the following topic: I have a helios64, equipped with 3 2.5" disk drives, running Debian 10 with Kernel 5.10.43. Usually the system runs stable ... even for days (24/7). But every now and then the disks "fail" - which means, during normal operation suddenly the disk turn of, linux reports "sata link down" ... and the disks are off. As if they were removed. If I reboot I usually here only some "klicks" ... I assume the disks try to spin up, but fail due to not enough power (?). To recover from that situation, I usually disconnect power (incl. the internal UPS) ... try a few times, and …

Hello, I have been using Armbian OS on Rock Pi 4B. Full system is on NVME, not using SD card, and there is no eMMC chip on the board. During usage, I needed to shut it down improperly: by removing power cable, not through sudo shutdown now In the end I have following message during boot: Also, here is contents of dev folder: I was wondering if it is possible to fix this error. If not, I will reinstall with new image. Just spent much time on setting the environment, don't want to redo this all I would appreciate any help.

Hi, i'm trying to compile an u-boot for my Rock-PI 4B. I wanted to apply a userpatch, that disables the uart debug console in u-boot. Hi, i'm currently trying to disable the serial console on port 2 on my Rockchip based Rockpi 4B (based on rk3399). I already found the following forum thread, that describes in brief, that i basically have to recompile my own armbian image. But still I'm missing some information. I have read the docs in docs.armbian.com and watched the YouTube video on how to build an armbian image. So far, i was able to setup a VM for building an image on my workstation. I also had a successful compile run yesterday, that created some output in my output folder. Now, I'd like to apply a patch, that changes the serial debugging console during boot from port 2 to port 4. …

Hi, Have the r2s for some time and it worked well in the beginning. But then it started to freeze randomly. The logs do not have any error in it. Initially I thought it could be the interface drive problem, changed the interface and still freezes. When the r2s is frozen, serial port won't respond. Keeping serial connection and restarting the r2s, boot messages show normally. When I keep the serial connected, r2s do not freeze (tried for more than a week). Found this other post, not sure if this is the same problem as it does boot, but seems related. mUSB serial connection rarely works. Have to boot some times until it works. Although I am an exp…

I get no audio devices in Gnome/Jammy userland on an Armbian 5.18 kernel. From the console, alsamixer has controls for Analog RK809, but no Playback Mux for the speaker (mini jack) and changing the card Default to HDMI reports "This Sound Device Does Not Have Any Controls". The Gnome/Ubuntu audio applet has only a dummy device. Thanks!

Hi all, I have a nanopi m4 with following installation - Armbian_22.05.4_Nanopim4v2_jammy_current_5.15.48_xfce_desktop. I am looking for someone who has retroarch installed on armbian and fully working, and what the key steps are. Im asking because: 1) I tried installing by command line, which installs retroarch to a location with no cores. An issue with rk3399 cores is that there are none to download and must be built seperately (Is there a way to update a file so that cores can be downloaded through the application?) 2) In an attempt to build retroarch + cores, i downloaded and built libretro, which took probab…

(Note: this is crossposted from an ATS issue, since I think it might be quicker to get answers here. Will post on one thread when I get answers that work in the other) Have installed ats on my Rock64, running Armbian 22.05 Jammy with kernel version 5.10.63, and am having trouble getting the fan to spin. The fan I'm using is the one that comes with this case, and it spins when I connect it to a battery. The first version of Armbian images for Station M3 rk3588s (rk3588s-roc-pc) is available. the launch is very simple - download, unpack, burn to an SD card, connect to the device and turn on the power. The system starts automatically. At the first launch, perform the initial setup in the same way as all Armbian-enabled devices. https://disk.yandex.ru/d/-zSW21XKN0pfIA

Hey everyone, i bought a Rock 3A to get an alternative to Raspberri pi. The armbian was the system which is closest to the raspberrian and i'm glad that it works so well. But Videos 720p, 1080p mp4 play horrible bad. When i use the included videoplayer or install vlc and start a video it is laggy and slow and not useable. Is there any additional driver i have to install? Do i have to choose a different encoder? Or is the Rock 3A not capeable of playing Videos? Thank you and best regards.

Since Linux 5.15, the USB3 port on ROCK64 does not work anymore with Armbian. The following kernel errors are shown: usb 5-1: USB disconnect, device number 2 [...] usb usb5-port1: Cannot enable. Maybe the USB cable is bad? This has been reported by multiple users with multiple drives and cables, also disabling UAS does not help. lsusb shows the drive/device, but lsblk does not. I know the ROCK64 is not currently supported by Armbian/has no maintainer, so I'm not expecting anything, just posting this as information and probably someone with more insights into the rockchip64 kernel build has an idea or workaround.

Hey guys, looks like there's no support for board serial number in latest images for Station M2. Serial number on rk356x is coming from otp memory, so: 1) there are no bindings for `otp` and `cpuinfo` devices in .dts, like here 2) there are no kernel driver to extract data from otp memory, like here I'm ready to contribute, but not sure what's the future plan for those.
