Hi We've made a patch for the current a64 megous 5.10 kernel which enables writing to the 2K SID/Efuse security area of the A64/R18 processor. Our initial investigations have found that the A64 doesn't seem to match the tables found in the SID Register Guide, however we've proceeded to perform various write tests and are presenting our results here for anyone that may found it useful in further development. There shouldn't be any issues using the same patch in the 5.14 kernel, as the driver code is still the same. The patch won't be pushed upstream, and is for dev purposes only, as the original intend of the driver is to be read-only. (This is EFUSE area …

Hello All, I am working on a freelance testing project and I want to know which model is better for testing in the process and concept point of view between agile and waterfall. Yesterday when i search for difference between them I found this reference and as I know Agile method uses an incremental development approach, the phases of design, production, testing, and other project management may appear several times as well as testing is frequently done in conjunction with the development phase in Agile model to maintain consistent quality. but not an idea about waterfall. Can anyone know which model is useful in testing? and what technique the waterfall model used?

Java Periphery is a high performance library for GPIO, LED, PWM, SPI, I2C, MMIO and Serial peripheral I/O interface access in userspace Linux. Rather than try to build this from scratch I used c-periphery and HawtJNI to generate the JNI wrappers. This saves a lot of hand coding and allows for easier synchronization with c-periphery changes moving forward. I believe this is the only userspace IO library that supports the new JDK 17 LTS (and still supports JDK 11). I had to fork HawtJNI to make it work with JDK 17. The only caveat is that ARM32 supports JDK 11. For some reason I cannot find a JDK 17 for ARM32 or information on why is was not supported. The insta…

As previously recommended by @NicoD I have been trying to download Vivaldi browser for my Allwinner Tanix TX6 TV Box (arm64 architecture) However, the official stable version seems to provide armhf (ARM 32-bit) build only. After some digging, it appears Vivaldi does provide a snapshot build (think of it like trunk / daily build) for arm64 architecture. It can be found here: https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/snapshots/ Just select "Snapshot" under the "Desktop" section, and you will always have the latest Vivaldi snapshot build to download and install. Both armhf and arm64 builds are available for your selectio…

  23. Hi all, my first post here. Just a short question - is it possible to configure static IP address before the first boot by editing some configuration file in boot partition? I had to SSH to Orange Pi PC after installing Armbian_21.05.1_Orangepipc_buster_current_5.10.34.img in the network where there isn't DHCP and I set up the static IP address by connecting the SBC to the monitor and running nmtui. The N2 boots eMMC before SD card, so what I did was to flash the SD card with an armbian distro and get it up and running. the SD card always shows up on mmcblk0 and the eMMC on mmcblk1. So it boots from SD when it can't find a bootloader on the eMMC. I can flash any image easily with dd if=image of=/dev/mmcblk1 and just do a reboot, and it will boot the eMMC. Whenever I want to test another image, i can just do dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=1M count=1 to make the eMMC unbootable, causing it to start on the SD image on the next reboot. A very …

  60. I run Armbian on a SanDisk 64GB micro SD card -- using it on Asus TB. Most of the SD card is free space and while I want to keep Armbian as is for the TB, I want to create a multi-OS folder for music and photos. I.e. to use on Android phone, Win PC, Linux Mint computer, etc. Are there any Armbian drawbacks to creating/having such a folder? If not, should I use Armbian to create the empty folder (henceforth, it will be filled with files from multiple devices)? Is there a "best" location to create this generic folder within the Ambian OS card--i.e., as a sub-folder of a default Armbian directory?

Currently all the homelab and k8s nerds are just using RPI4s because they have a header for POE support. We know there are better options. We had pitched this to orange pi but weren't receptive. To monitor and restart boards, we could use the FOSS Android app RasPi Check. However, Armbian needs to reply to all requests from the app (with a valid or dummy value). I looked into it a while back. Perhaps there are more people interested in it from the Armbian community. Let me know if you want to work on this too.

I just wired my attic to my office with cat 6 cable and my house is wired with cat5e, More than likely the cameras will be plugged directly into the SBC from the attic via PoE. My question is which SBC would be able to handle hardware H265 decoding using 4K cameras at 30 fps? That's about 27 Mbps per camera times 4 cameras. iperf test from my attic showed 961 Mbps using ODroid XU4. So my questions are: Which SBC can handle H265 hardware decoding of four 4K cameras? I have two possibilities: One is to use the already integrated UART, or use a USB - I2C converter. Using the UART I would communicate the NANOPI with a 328P microcontroller, and from there I would collect the RTC information (with i2c between 328P and RTC), in addition to sending the frequent information to the 328P to keep the watchdog active. Using the I2C, the RTC would be connected to the I2C BUS and I would do the direct query via NANOPI R1, as well as send the frequent information via I2C …
