  1. Folks, I've flashed a 16GB eMMC 5.0 card with Armbian and it's booted up on a Rev 2 Odroid C2, but it only gets as far as the attached picture shows. I've left it overnight to see if it gets any better and it's still stalled. The blue LED ("disk" activity) is a steady 2-beat heartbeat which to me sounds like it's stuck trying to seek whatever happens next. I wanted to leave it overnight and also post here before attempting to fix via rebooting, then re-flashing if I have to. Anyone see this before? Sorry this is my first go at Armbian and it's on a brand new device - I come from the mx6 world.

  3. Hey, I am not able to compile a .ko kernel module : below the error. I think it's fair to say that it may happen on many boards. I guess you supposed that before I had to get the linux-headers on. which required to tune the build config and include the headers during the build for that specific meson64 release at least. Saying that after rebuilding all I am stuck again on the vdso as i can't build a .ko easily. I think many people but i let the team taken the decision may be stuck at one point on linux-headers or to compile a .ko module. I would recommend to have DEFAULT parameter YES for the linux-headers as well as all that would be required…

  8. I'm running Armbian from a emmc 16GB card. When I use the web browser the mouse constantly flickers, is there any way to get this to stop? Is there a graphics driver I should have enabled? When I select Additional Hardware Drivers none show up, so maybe there isnt a GPU accelerated driver available. Also switching between desktops feels sluggish. Maybe Im expecting too much performance from a $50 SBC. Thanks for your help & time in making this distribution. Im just looking to make the best user experience possible.

Hi! I downloaded 'Armbian_5.20_Odroidc1_Debian_jessie_3.10.103.7z' today, put it on a SD card and successfully booted and 'ssh'ed in it. The board - an old C1 - is running fine. Now I want to install fail2ban and mc, but with the original 'sources.list' for apt there's no way to to that via apt-get. Will I run into difficulties if I change the 'sources.list' to the normal Debian ones and make my installations, updates and upgrades from there? Frank

Hello. I tested Armbian Jessie with Odroid C1+ and encountered several issues, would like to know if they're known or if I've done something wrong. 1) Odroid C1+ gets no display if not booting into X11. Framebuffer text console is not present at all. This makes it impossible to do any kind of configuration if not connecting via SSH. 2) If connecting via SSH, updating the system and rebooting, it doesn't seem to boot anymore. The machine is not available for ping, and I can no longer connect to do any further configuration. 3) Issuing "reboot" over SSH seems not to reboot the board, instead power needs to be cycled manually. I'm tried server and desk…

  19. Greetings. I'm running a headless cluster of Odroid C2's (eMMC) using the latest Armbian buster minimal image with kernel 4.19.69-meson64. I'm encountering an issue where it takes a long time for SSH connection to be accepted (initially up to 30 min consistently). I get a connection refused. The issue seems to be due to the entropy pool becoming depleted during the early boot process which blocks SSH from starting while it refills the pool. The problem seems to be known and documented well here: https://daniel-lange.com/archives/152-Openssh-taking-minutes-to-become-available,-booting-takes-half-an-hour-...-because-your-server-waits-for-a…

I'm running the HDMI output through a HDMI->VGA adapter, which is then fed into my KVM along with the mouse and keyboard. The monitor is capable of 1920x1200, and it all works fine except for the cursor not being visible. I've tried various escape codes, etc. Nano never displays a cursor. When I log in via SSH the cursor is plainly visible. I'm trying to configure the WiFi, which doesn't seem to want to work if the ethernet is connected, so I'm stuck at the tty terminal. 59. I am having an issue playing 24 bit files on my audio system. I am feeding from an Odroid C2 running Armbian Ubuntu to a Schiit Yggrasil DAC, via USB. The problem is that while all 16 bit files play perfectly, all 24 bit files play with crackles and pops and are unlistenable. I am trying to figure out where the incompatibility lies in the USB interface between the units - is it a Linux issue (I've tried other distributions with the same results) or is it something in the hardware? Any thoughts on the issue would be most appreciated.

  63. TL;DR: the following is a simple summary of the issue: Amlogic SoCs contain an own embedded microcontroller (Cortex-M3) used for controlling power and clocks A proprietary and closed source firmware is loaded on the M3 at boot. This stuff is contained in the bl30.bin blob we have to include This firmware controls the real clockspeeds, ignores what the cpufreq framework running in the Linux kernel wants and even reports back bogus clockspeeds (the kernel wants to set 1512 MHz, the M3 ignores this and sets 1416 MHz instead but the code returns faked 1512 MHz) Various tests showed that this is not related to thermal protection but just to $some…

I only test on my OdroidC2 so this find may affect more. As repeatedly mentioned, the C2 has usb detect issues. For us, a main culprit not discussed yet is the default kernel config. Having both: CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED=Y CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=Y For USB1.1, these should be one or the other, never both. Mainline has: CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=Y and CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED is not set. For the OdroidC2, CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=N is proper. As it has no OHCI and USB2 handles that for us. Forcing the USB power on state has helped workaround this issue, by keeping the driver tied to the device in the kernel.

It seems the networking in Armbian 5.59 is messed up. It creates a eth0 adapter (disabled) and Wired network 1 adapter. You can delete these in nmtui, but they always return. I had the same issue with NanoPi Duo using mainline Stable. I can get it to work a bit using armbian-config, removing all interfaces and configuring IP, but it gets screwed up again. I cannot trust to run 5.59 headless because I have no way to get into the SBC without hooking video back up.

When booting from eMMC card, the uSD clot is "dead", card insertation is not recognized anymore, it can't be used. Michael

  84. hi, i recently created a game that i would like to install over 905x3 tv box, i would like to protect it from copy. is there a way to encrypt the whole ROM without the need of any external hardware or password to be entered each reboot ? tv box launch directly into the game and every possible way to interact with linux is disabled (keyboard, usb, lan) and i only need to encrypt the ROM to make the game more resistent in some extent to copy. i read about encrypted bootloader but i'm not sure if that is what i need. can i only encrypt the game bin with a key that is protected inside the 905x3 ? (beside cpuid as it seem easy to reverse). …

  86. I cannot find the serial number with Armbian 23.02.2 on ODroid C4. On ODroid C2 with Armbian 22.11.2 and older versions it was readable on /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/serial-number. This does not exist anymore on C4. I do not know if it depends on Armbian version or board type.

Hi, I want to change the resolution to a custom setting. In order to do this I changed the /boot/boot.ini file to custombuilt and include the relevant modeline for my display. When I start the odroid, it crashes. I then tried to just use setenv display_autodetect "true" and no preset selected, it also crashes. Perhaps I misunderstand auto_detect, but when I set the custombuilt option with the right modeline, it still won't work.. any ideas?

Hi I'm wondering why chromium is missing from the ODroid C2 image when taking the non-desktop image and then adding the necessary packages to get a minimal X working? Planning to just build it from source, but wondering why it was missing from the core armbian distro? Is there a reason?

  90. hi all . i think sd card is much shorter life time and restricted size ( 64G ~ 128G and big size is too expensive ). so as server , i like to use hard disk as root . for this purpose , nand-sata-install.sh is excellent ( but too complex for me to understand ) . i use nand-sata-install.sh on odroid-c2 armbian . and on working armbian , i run next script . ( the timing to attach sdb is about 10~15 second later after armbian booting ) . sda1 is cloned to sdb1 . clone-rsync-2-HDD-delete.bat ntpd -s date echo '--------------------' umount /mb1 mount /dev/sdb1 /mb1 df echo '--------------------' read X echo $X cd /mb1 mkdir -p bin etc home lib …

  91. Hello, A GPS module ublox is connected to a odroid c2 board on GPIOX.12 and GPIOX.13 for the RX and TX and GPIOX.10 for the PPS. The board is running the stable kernel 4.19.42-meson64 from Armbian based on Debian stretch which was dist-upgraded to Debian buster. I am trying to get the /dev/pps0 entry using GPIOX.10 to finish the chrony setup but I cannot find the correct syntax in the DTS file. Any pointer or idea ? I try either of the gpios line below, none of them seems to be correct. pps { gpios = "< 0x1e 0x66 0x0 >"; #gpios = "<&gpiox 10 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>"; #gpios = "< 0x66 >"; assert-fall…

Hi, after a very successful deployment last year we will start a new sub sea C2 deployment next year (next to the old installation, in Northern Pacific, down at 2600m). Things work out nicely, but now we reached a state where some help from experts is welcome. I need to include some changes into the filesystem generated by Armbian build system, and hope someone can give me a hint on how to do it best way: - include some packages into the image (list available) - add some files to /etc/udev/rules.d/ - add some lines to /etc/rc.local - have a preinstalled user plus home directory (optional) Any help is appr…

  93. I am using: Armbian_5.14_Odroidc2_Debian_jessie_3.14.71 I am a bit stumped....if I run with 3 network interfaces, everything is fine. If I add a fourth interface...the system locks up...even if the 3rd and 4th interface have no ip address. They just need to be live! I have tried 4 drastically different interfaces in case the device driver can't handle it. Anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?? THank you!

I am trying to connect a PPS source to an ODROID-C2 board using GPIO. I am running Armbian 19.11.3 Buster, with kernel 5.3.11-meson64. I downloaded the Armbian kernel source for this kernel, added the following to meson-gxbb-odroidc2.dts, and compiled and installed it: pps { compatible = "pps-gpio"; gpios = <&gpio GPIOY_3 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; status = "okay"; interrupt-parent = <&gpio_intc>; interrupts = <26 IRQ_TYPE_LEVEL_LOW>; }; When I boot and load the pps-gpio module, I get the following error: pps-gpio pps: failed to map GPIO to IRQ: -6 pps-gpio: probe of pps failed with error -22 …

  98. Hi, On an Odroid C2, I used to read IP camera stream with ffmpeg without HW decoding, as it was not available yet. After reading many threads on this forum, regarding hw decoding through ffmpeg, I decided to give a try....but without any success. First of all, I tried to decode the Sintel.2010.720p.mkv file, and it worked well. This is the command I used: ffmpeg -c:v h264_v4l2m2m -i Sintel.2010.720p.mkv -an -vf fps=1 -f image2 -strftime 1 "/dev/shm/cam1_%S.jpg" (This takes a snapshot every second from the video file) And I got this output: [h264_v4l2m2m @ 0xaaaab68e84f0] driver 'meson-vdec' on card 'Amlogic Video Deco…
