I have a 3TB drive attached via SATA, with independent PSU. Despite my best efforts I cannot get it to be recognized as anything more than 801GB/746GiB. This drive works in another machine fine. I tried a low-level wipe (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M), as well as creating new GPT partition tables. hdparm -I does correctly report info, but `cat /sys/class/block/sda/queue/physical_block_size` reports block size at 512. Any thoughts? Device Details: Orange Pi+ 2 Armbian Debian 3.4 image Linux XX 3.4.113-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT armv7l GNU/Linux WD 3TB Green (WD30EZRX) OS installed on eMMC on…

Hi orange pi +2e with Distribution: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS Kernel version: Linux 3.4.113-sun8i armv7l rpimonitor installed with sudo armbianmonitor -r I use Rpimonitor to control temperature, upgradable packages and cpu frequency, nice tool ! Unfortunately it looks that rpimonitor has access to my external external hard drives, so no spin off . I change rpimonitor config files sudo nano /etc/rpimonitor/data.conf #include=/etc/rpimonitor/template/sdcard.conf and sudo nano /etc/rpimonitor/template/Allwinner_H3_Extended_Mainline.conf #dynamic.7.name=externaltemp #dynamic.7.source=/tmp/externaltemp #dynamic.7.regexp=(.*) #dynamic.…

I'm currently running ARMBIAN 5.31 Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.11.5-sunxi on my Cubietruck, which otherwise works fine as a headless data and media server. Hi, I'm trying to use bluetooth with the Mainline 4.11.9-sun8i armbian kernel (I also tried 4.11.7-sun8i). I activated ttyS3 (uart3) in armbianEnv.txt: verbosity=1 logo=disabled console=serial overlay_prefix=sun8i-h3 rootdev=UUID=59c35982-ddad-4bf0-8b72-a8974bfe88a6 rootfstype=ext4 overlays=uart3 spi-spidev param_uart3_rtscts=1 param_spidev_spi_bus=0 Unfortunately hciconfig -a does not find any device. Hi all, I'm new here. Since I bought my OPi One I didn't try any of the official images, but only armbian legacy kernel. The first OPi one I thought it was broken, no led on the board only the eth ones, nothing happend on the screen (homemade power cable with 1.4 plug and a xiaomi ac power adapter 5V 2A almost correctly given, tested with a multimeter). The image was burned on a 4gb kingston micro sd card with etcher formatted with sd formatter. So I bought another one, and I have the same identical issue. So, I started to study and I found out that I could connect to the OPi through SSH. So it what I tried to do all the night. Again image burned with e…

Hi all, I recently purchased an orange pi after developing on the raspberry pi (just for convenience). I got it mainly because the integrated memory could be a real asset both because SD are faulty when making lots of memory accesses and emmc can provide a nice layer of code protection when giving the board to somebody else. I set-up everything without issue and I used the nand-sata-install to move everything to emmc...it worked like a charm. I then placed all my proprietary code on emmc and executed without issues. Problem is, I can obviously still insert an SD card and then mount the emmc and access my code since the SD is booted before the emmc.…

Good time of day fellows. How can I mount SD card to transfer data into when Armbian 3.35 Ubuntu 16.04 started from flash? Cant see SD card nor mount it. Installed USBmount and it works with USB flashes on OTG port but no with SD card. Thanks to anyone for advice. Additional info: NanoPi Air 32Gb eMMC http://sprunge.us/OLNS

Hi, Firstly my thanks to the team for an outstanding job on ARMbian. I'm relatively new to this particular flavour, using it on my Orange Pi H2+ board with a few different builds under my belt now. Recently I have been having some troubles getting Pi-hole to work on the little Orange Pi board. Twice I have had it up and running perfectly, with full DNS and DHCP control of my home network, accommodating about 10 devices. However after about 6 - 12 hours of operation, they ceased to function. First time around I was not home to witness it, but when I returned later, the Allwinner chip was running pretty warm (around 60 degrees C core temp) and non-responsive, even to s…

Hi, First of all sorry for my bad English. I am trying play video on my OrangePi Zero2+ H3 and 7inch waveshare touch screen. I couldn't get the touch screen work with Armbian 5.38 - 3.xx kernel. (I downloaded the Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y from website. In this version, mpv plays video with hardware acceleration) Then I updated to Armbian 5.44 - 4.xx kernel (I downloaded the Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y from website.) then 7inch touch screen started to work but this time no hardware acceleration. It works "mpv vid.mp4" with dropped frames and very high CPU usage. But it gives error when I try to start video with "mpv --vo=…

Hello, it seems like there are no dts files to add support for i2s. How hard would it be to complete this task? The documentation from h6 references support for i2s, and the same in the user manual from Xunlog : http://dl.sumnic.com/download/OrangePi-One-Plus.pdf Edit:After some reading, i2s is not working for now and there's no proper driver yet. Thanks to martinayotte, SPI is working.

I'm trying to replicate a flash drive using an ISO file. My system is running the latest Ubuntu next kernel. Here is how I am mounting an ISO: # Mount sudo modprobe g_mass_storage file=/home/pi/mini.iso # Remove sudo rmmod g_mass_storage Here are the two types of results I get from three different images. (Ubuntu net install, Need for speed 2 iso, custom made iso) It's definitely being detected. However it's appearing as either empty partitions or unallocated.

Hi, I would like to use wiringPi for my NanoPi Neo Air, but after installing wiring P, I only get unable to determine board revision as output from gpio readall. I tried this approaches already: Could someone please explain me how to build wiring P for NanoPi Neo Air so that it is working? On NanoPi Neo Plus 2, I did not have to change anything when installing wiringNP under Armbian.

Can we switch a 64 bit image from downloads section to 32 bit kernel, repos and apps? I want a 32 bit (armhf) build server, but can see 64 bit OS images only. Do I need to build my custom armbian image? Are there command line examples for build script that produces armhf image instead of aarch64? I prefer H6 SoC instead of H3 because H6 is two times faster than H3, but the price of H6-based boards is very similar to H3-based boards. Thanks in advance

I used armbianmonitor -r on my OPi Zero just like I did previously on OPi One. On OPi One everything is working fine. On my zero it doesn't display all the information for CPU. Hello, I've got some problems with a Cubietruck. First thing to state is that the com-port apparently has died. It was connected via a USB-converter 3,3v and worked flawlessly for a long time. I replaced it with a new one but no go. In the beginning no problem, I could use SSH. Second thing is that the hard disk became erroneous. I bought a bigger model but no boot. I thought that the UUID-entry in /etc/fstab caused this and changed it via tune2fs to the old one, but still no boot. Thus I could no longer use SSH! And I cannot mount the old harddisk, it's to erroneous! Third thing is that I tried with a new image, and the cubie seems to fina…

Hello, I'm trying to set up the video streaming on Banana Pi M2. I tried all of the available images, but I can't find the image where the kernel includes ov5640.ko and sunxi_csi0(1).ko modules. The instruction on banana-pi.org said that I only need to load these two modules, but they are not included in images... The only image, where the ov5640 works is the Android 4.4 from banana-pi.org, but it is not fast enough. Do you have any experiences with that, or suggestions about how to run this? Kind regards, CottonEye_Joe

Hi! I'm new to Armbian and I have a problem with Internal Ethernet device on my Orange Pi One. Hi All, Armbian boots fine from SDcard but when I run nand-sata-install the script complains that it has no target. A #ls /dev/mmcblk* shows /dev/mmcblk0 and /dev/mmcblk0P1 When mounted, just to see, the mmcblk0P1 partition contains the usual linux directories, so I suppose this partition is definitely the SDcard No EMMC device is present. Could this be due to me performing, yesterday a: dd if=/mnt/ArchLinux_Minimal.img of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=4M ? I did this because I read somewhere that booting up from SDCARD followed by a dd worked in some cases. Note I originally wanted to run Arch, but since there is apparently no support at orangepi.org, after…

I am using Orange Pi Zero Plus(http://www.orangepi.org/OrangePiZeroPlus/), but there's no armbian for it. I download armbian for Orange Pi PC2(here) and it works! However, PC2 does not have on-board wifi, so my zero plus cannot find a wlan device. The onboard wifi of zero plus is Realtek RTL8189FTV, and the driver source seems to be this I compile it on my orange pi and add "modprobe mac80211" before "insmod", it is loaded but there is still no wlan0 device So what should I do to enable wifi?

Hi, my overlays=w1-gpio spi-spidev are not working anymore since I upgraded from 4.14.84-sunxi to 4.19.13-sunxi (Banana Pi with armbian 5.70). Regarding the 1-wire protocol cat /sys/bus/w1/devices/*/w1_slave responds "No such file or directory" since the upgrade. Also regarding the spi overlay # ls /dev/spi* should result in /dev/spidev0.0 whereas kernel 4.19 says "cannot access /dev/spi*: No such file or directory". All was working fine with the 4.14 kernel. thanks in advance

Good day, We use NanoPi Neo Core in voice information systems. We found a problem with the implementation of Dynamic Audio Power Management for Portable Devices in H3. Our program plays voice files using the standard call of the operating system - "aplay". Before starting the reproduction of each file the voltage is discharged and restored at the output of the DAC. This leads to a loud click on the output of the audio system. Setting pmdown_time = -1 does not save the situation. Can you help in solving this problem? P.S. This problem appeared in version 4 of the kernel.

http://www.fsfla.org/ikiwiki/selibre/linux-libre/ I expect this is the software. Free software is software you may use, share, modify and redistribute. To my knowledge orange pi one has an armv7 cpu. There is an armv7 libre linux kernel, which to some extend supports mali gpus. I want to test the libre linux kernel on an orange pi one computer, to get to know how well a Mali 400 MP2 runs on free software. Maybe it can give a streak of how well the pinephone's …

Hi all, Firstly, I want to say that I'm new to Armbian and embedded Linux. I have tried searching the solution for my problem on various sites but I haven't had any luck. I am using a Nano Pi Duo 2 (H3) board with Armbian Buster to communicate with another device through UART1 (TX1, RX1). I am able to communicate at 115200 bps with no problem. However, I need the baud rate to be at least 230400 bps (ideally 921600) for my application. I'm using WiringNP library. When I changed to those baud rates and performed a simple feedback test (shorting TX/RX), I can receive the data. But when I connect it to another device, the communication does not funct…

Hi, I want to use a gpio in CON12 to wakeup orange pi 3. But I can not figure it out. I am using armbian 5.4.43. I have done some researh about this question. It seems I should choose pin on PL or PM ports. But according the schmatic, lots of them have been used as other usages: PIN DEFINE CFG PL0 PMU-SCK 3 PL1 PMU-SDA 3 PL2 RECOVERY …

Hello. For some reason, UART1 does not work for transmission, only for reception. The transmitter pin itself is definitely working, I checked by switching this pin to output mode, and then switching it to a high/low logical level, everything works properly, the level on the Pin changes. How I check the UART itself: I installed picocom, shorted the TX and RX pins, and I’m trying to see what I’m sending. For UART2 this method works as it should, but UART1 only works for reception. I realized this when I opened the TX and RX, and was able to receive incoming data sent through the USB-UART converter.

Hi After reading this: "No audio driver, IR, NAND, BT, HW video, I2C and SPI untested on 4.0 or higher" i'm not sure which kernel version should i choose. Is that "no audio driver" means that there is no HDMI audio, or no any audio including jack audio? Both kernels support the "Allwinner Security System cryptographic accelerator"? As i'm using CB2 as a headless java application server, samba fileserver, dlna server and music player daemon server, i need only jack audio from these, and of course the hw cryptographic support.

Having my Orange Pi One now for two weeks. I've compiled a new kernel with the great compile tool of Armbian. I tried the 3.4.112 on Pi One and 3.4.113 on Pi Zero. Both have the same problem which is that no unicast packets are flowing into the macvlan device when I run tcpdump on it. The device was created like this: ip link add link eth0 address 1E:74:C0:DC:BB:01 vlan mtu 1500 type macvlan I can see inbound broadcast and multicast packets though. Outbound packets also seem fine. I can see arp request and ICMP request (if set static arp entry on PI) from the other end. Does anybody have any clue what it could it?

I feel like I have been here before..... I'm trying to get Netatalk working on my OrangePiOne and OrangePiPC. No luck again I have build a custom kernel with only appletalk extra as a module ( appletalk.ko) and used the then created package: linux-image-dev-sun8i_5.24_armhf.deb to install this over an image of the beta images site for an orangepizero. Armbian_5.24.161226_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_4.9.0.img The OrangePi boots perfect and I see the new kernel active: Linux orangepizero 4.9.0macippi-sun8i-g21ddf78-dirty #2 SMP Fri Jan 6 20:08:41 UTC 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux Installed Netatalk after this and it is running fine...only no appletalk or AFP…

Hello ! I have a pcduino 3 with 4gb nand memory. I tried to install armbian server 5.25 with Kernel Legacy 3.4.113. The SDcard boot works well but when i try to boot from nand just after nand-sata-install, nothing happens. I tried to install LXDE 14 nand from official pcduino repositories and boot works so the memrory is not corrupted. Thanks in advance ! Guillaume UPDATE : I found this solution to my problem. Hello, I've been using an OrangePi PC with legacy distribution for a long time as a mini-server, it worked Ok except for some seemingly random freeze. I'm using it with an unsupported monitor size (1600x1200), so I had a modded version, and I never updated the system files to avoid having to recompile. I'd like to update Armbian to the mainline kernel version, but I want to keep all my settings/additions/installed programs, so I'd prefer to NOT do a complete re-install. Is there a way to do an upgrade without losing everything?? If not, how can I keep track of all the modifications currently installed so I can re-install them? TIA

Hi there, i just wanted to report my experience with Igor Pecovnik's debian 4.1.2 image - especially since he says that I2C is untested with Kernel 4.0 and above. I have a PCTV DVB-C/T2 USB Stick (Triplestick 292e) and could make it work with my Cubietruck. I had to use Igor's compile script from the project website in my ubuntu virtual machine on Windows 7 to get the kernel sources and compile the kernel with the required options (the offered SD-Card image lacks support for I2C Multiplexing). To use this stick, you have to compile the kernel with I2C Multiplexing built in, and build the i2c mux modules for the chipset (I compiled all i2c_mux drivers as modules si…

Hi Just got my first Orange Pi Zero today. Everything looking good, with the exception, if I run iperf tests between this and a linux host, the Orange Pi Zero will reboot without any error messages. I changed my power supply to a wall plug which can support 2.4amp easily, also tried to tune down the frequency to 900Mhz max, 4 cores, turned off HDMI/GPU, USB. DRAM is at minimum, 408 I think. Temperature remains at 55 to 58C Still once a while during heavy network, the board will reboot. The image i used is the legacy image posted on orange pi zero, Armbian_5.24_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie_3.4.113 Thanks Jerry

As a newbie struggling for a month trying to find resources to set a static IP for Wifi DHCP and to get my PC to directly communicate to my OPZ via ethernet so I can be mobile... I am ecstatic to stumble across this solution, and had to share. Basically all you need to do is add a few bits of info to the /etc/network/interfaces file that is first made to setup wifi on the OPZ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zGRAPguaSQ). Here is the modified /etc/network/interfaces file contents that worked for me, in blue: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 allow-hotplug eth0 iface eth0 inet static #last wor…

I just flashed https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Ubuntu_bionic_next.7z and it doesn't appear to detect the onboard wifi. ip a only shows lo and eth0. I'm going to try the expansion board with Ethernet onboard and see what shows up. OK, just tried this on a adapter board with Ethernet and now there's an eth0 and Wired Connection 1. It appears the eth0 is really the wifi adapter, but nmtui treats it like an Ethernet connection. Same issue with https://dl.armbian.com/nanopiduo/Debian_stretch_next.7z Wifi not detected, but eth0 is detected instead of wlan0.

Hello guys and gals Can anyone help me what information to add in boot.cmd file to make it bootable from SSD on SATA port? I found some examples but they are from 2014 and the information in my boot.cmd file looks slightly different from what is posted in the past. I'm using the latest Buster Server image with 4.19 kernel. By the way is it a good idea to enable TRIM for the SSD? I saw some options in YouTube how to enable TRIM, but just want to ask for opinion of people with SSD drives, who already managed to boot from SATA with SSD. setenv load_addr "0x44000000" setenv overlay_error "false" # default values setenv verbosity "1"…

Hi! I have banana pro, 5.15.93-sunxi #23.02.2 (bullseye), and use internal wifi adapter as a wifi client. The medium btw my client and ap is instable, there are frequent rate changes (6Mbps...54Mbps), so in order to get rid of it I need to set mandatory wifi rate no more than 6 Mbps. I had tried iwconfig wlan0 rate 6M - I got "Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported." . 2. I want to understand the feasibility of installing Armbain on a board that is currently Tina Linux. The board has an Allwinner R528 processor and an emmc . The kernel that Debian usually provides (for x86/64) is a debblobed kernel, with no proprietary pieces. Is that the case with these ima…

hi all I'm the owner of a Cubieboard1 (A10) running Armbian 5.31 Debian Jessie, kernel 4.11.5 (recently upgraded) I'm not quite sure when it happened (normally it stays up&running continuously), but recently I needed to reboot it and it simply shuts down, with no subsequent boot I've tried multiple times, upgraded the kernel, tried both via GUI and trough cli,.... no way: it simply stops, and I need to push the power on button I've not been able to find any glimpdr on the logs Obiouvsly it is quite annoying, especially for remote management Do you have any idea on the possible causes, troubleshooting etc…

Hi everyone. I have an Orange Pi Zero. 1. I installed legacy kernel to my SD card (downloaded from https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero/ ) 2. I made updates & upgrades. Afterwards, I downloaded WiringOP-Zero from https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero 3. Now here comes to problematic part. I checked my files as ls -aol /dev/spi* and could see spidev0.0 and spidev1.0. Then I wrote a test program for my SPI pins (MOSI-MISO-CLK), I can compile the program but whenever I try to use spidev1.0 I get this error below : Unable to open SPI device: No such file or directory …

Hello, The NanoPi Neo 2 has an H5 SoC. When I look at the Linux mainlining effort chart at Sunxi, I see that Ethernet support for the H5 only came in the 4.15 kernel. But the kernel in the Armbian downloads for the NanoPi Neo 2 only have the 4.14.y kernel. So can one expect the GbE to work, on a NanoPi Neo 2, with the current Armbian (Bionic or Stretch)? Maybe you already backport the 4.15 Ethernet-related code (for the H5) into that 4.14.y kernel?

Hello, I installed last Bionic on a Orange Pi PC+. It's on EMMC. (it used to have an old Armbian Ubuntu with 3.x kernel before) Common settings (background image, GTK theme, icons, panel) are there on logout but are not saved on reboot. I saved a text file in the home user folder, it's OK. With another common user I face the same problem, with the root account settings are saved. My Linux knowledge is average, I really don't know what's wrong. Thank you Mathieu

Hello, I have a NanoPi Neo Plus 2 I used to run Ubuntu Core on it but i wanted to switch out as i had less storage space available 4.7gb out of 8 and other issues as it was also out of date. I installed Armbian first on SD then on eMMC but the problem i am facing is that only 479mb of ram is available. Now in the first post on this board by Stanislav Sinyagin on July 18, 2017 it was stated that only 512 mb of ram was available but later on i saw posts of people with the whole 1Gb of ram being used. Due to the limited ram i get compilation problems among other things i am using this board headless as a server. i flashed all versions for download multiple times along with t…
