  1. Kia ora. I am aware that the external USB ports on the Helios are able to deliver up to 900mA per port. I am wondering whether it is possible to find a power source inside the Helios64 that would be able to deliver, say, 2.5A at 5v? Maybe somewhere quite soon after the 12v power in...? 🤔 Jon

  2. I accidentally ripped off a capacitor from the back of the Helios64. This missing capacitor is right below the SATA connector. I searched for the schematic of the board without any success. Does anyone happen to know the value and size of this capacitor?

  3. Started by jimt,

When using the "boot from SD install to NVMe" option of armbian-config it offered the option to format the NVMe drive with btrfs. When I selected that option, it briefly flashed an error about the partition being too small (even though I had created a 120GB partition). The actual problem appears to have been that btrfs-progs was not installed. After installing that package and rerunning armbian-config it was possible to btrfs format and install successfully. I suggest the error message could be improved. Armbian_22.11.1_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_5.15.80_minimal.img.xz

  6. Hello, I'm currently having trouble getting Kodi to run smoothly on my RADXA RockPi 5B. Despite having set up Kodi multiple times before, I'm facing some challenges this time around. Here's what I've done so far: Installed the Armbian_community_24.5.0-trunk.168_Rock-5b_jammy_vendor_6.1.43_gnome_desktop.img.xz image onto a micro SD card for my RockPi 5B. Followed the instructions provided on the Armbian website for the RockPi 5B (https://www.armbian.com/rock-5b/). While Armbian boots up fine and I can start Kodi, I encounter a few issues: - The screen resolution is initially incorrect when Kodi starts up. To fix this, I have to navi…

  11. The initial installation went fine from the flashed image on SD card, and still works fine. However, after using armbian-config to attempt to transfer the OS and bootloader to the eMMC card, nothing actually changes. It says it formats the card and then goes through the process of transferring the files, or at least it looks like it does. But when I reboot it it's still running on the SD card and no files appear to have been transferred to the eMMC. fstab lists the UUID of the SD card and not the eMMC at all; this is also true of the bootenv section of armbian-config. One thing I did notice is that there are some new directories under /mnt : '/mnt/nand-sata-in…

The OS is stored in the emmc of the pi, and everything boots fine unless i insert the sd card in the designated sd card slot. At first, i had OS arch in that sd card, and when i first plugged it in the pi, the sd card OS booted. 14. Hello everyone: I own an Orange Pi 5B 16GB. Today I updated from Armbian 24.2.1 to 24.5.1 stable. This new release includes the 6.1 kernel. When I issue the apt upgrade command I correctly get updated to 24.5.1 version but I am still in kernel 5.10. So, in order to be at kernel 6.1, I use armbian-config. 19. Hello: I am tyring to build the latest version of moonlight-qt (6.0.0). Up until now, I succeded by removing the disable-libdrm and disable-wayland to enable hardware acceleration and use H264, H265 and AV1 all of them through hardware acceleration. 21. About a year ago, I installed the OpenMediaVault image for CM3588-NAS from here: https://www.armbian.com/nanopc-cm3588-nas/ The image is debian-bookworm, which has since become oldstable, while trixie is the new stable. Is it possible to upgrade the distribution and move to trixie packages, even though there are no trixie images for CM3588-NAS? 22. Last night we lost power to the whole house, I had to manually start the NAS and when I tried to access my data there was nothing but empty shares. After checking OpenMediaVault Web UI and checking around, the file system status shows as "missing" and there is nothing under RAID Management and all the disks show properly under Storage > Disks. The NAS is set up as a Raid 6 on ext4 with five 12 TB drives. For starters, I wonder why the internal battery did not graciously shut down Helios64 as to avoid this from happening given that power outages are a rather common issue. Then, how do I get my file system back? After browsing some for…

Greetings, I can't seem to find any documentation on how to access the only PWM port on the Nano M4 which happens to reside on the 2nd set of pins. It's listed as GPIO2 and the PWM pin is pin 23 which they label as GPIO_C6/PWM1(3V). SInce any documentation I find on GPIO has to do with the 40 pin port, how can I program the PWM using wiringPI-Python? I wonder why Nano chose to disregard the other PWM pins that other Raspberry Pi type boards retained like the Asus Tinkerboard. Or am I missing something? If so, can someone enlighten me as to how to access PWM on the Nano M4. Preferably using Python 3.

Hey there, for quite a while I was using my Station P1 aka T-Firefly ROC-RK3399-PC-PLUS (with a nice case welded around) as crude NAS and wanted to do something new. However for unknown reason I cannot boot from microSD. I am used to that the Armbian boot loader should switch to microSD when detected so other OS can be used. Does not work though. It always starts booting from SPI which is fine in theory and then jumps to eMMC which boots fine. With SD inside it does the same. If I remove the eMMC module u-boot stucks to PXE which obviously fails and then drops to U-Boot shell. I played with that shell for a while including recovery…

However, has anyone considered and/or attempted to get the OTG capability working in a current/mainline kernel? I have a couple different projects where I need to have OTG working so I can have the RockPi 4 be a USB device (e.g. mass storage, ethernet, etc.). For the time being this means I can only use the legacy kernels, but I am hoping that might change in the future. I've a set of Orange Pi 5 Max boards, all of them mounting fast NVME units. My plan was to use micro SD card to host the OS, but delegate all intensive writing (log, tmp) to a special partition on the NVME unit which will be used for OS and Application data (both for performance, and to extend the lifetime of the SD card). That way I can flash the OS disk as needed without worrying about flashing the data disk with it. I've seen that Armbian uses zram by default, but I'd like to keep the entire RAM available for the applications that will be running in the boards (NVME should be fast enough to not notice a massive impact vs using the RAM). 48. Good evening, I have a Rock64/4G board and just downloaded and installed the Armbian_5.42_Rock64_Debian_stretch_default_4.4.124_desktop.7z to the SD card. After the reboot I saw X11 login interface and everything was great. After that I installed the latest packages with an apt update and then apt upgrade and restarted. Now I only see "rock64 login:" on the screen. The Xorg.0.log I have attached looks actually quite good. Xorg.0.log

Hi, I've installed Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome (Release date: Feb 18, 2023). Mostly it works well, including the instructions on the download page to enable 3D acceleration. However, my video is output to a TV through HDMI, and there is no audio. There are four "Analog Output - Built In Audio" options in the sound settings, I have tried all four and none of them make any sound. I have also tried to change all five options in the configuration tab of PulseAudio volume control. All are labelled "Built-in Audio" and there are no options in any of them other than "Stereo Output", "Stereo Input", "Stereo Output + Stereo Input" and "Off". I don't know if this is related, but…

  52. Hello everyone! I will teach you how to install WiringOP on Armbian. It's not the most practical method, but it works. First, we download the repository from the original website. $ apt-get update $ apt-get install -y git $ git clone https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/wiringOP.git Then, we proceed to look for the name of our board that is associated with Armbian. $ cat /etc/armbian-release | grep "BOARD=" | awk -F'=' '{print $2}' The previous command will give us the name of the board, which is the following: root@armbian:~# cat /etc/armbian-release | grep "BOARD=" | awk -F'=' '{print $2}' orangepi-r1plus-lts Now, we pro…

  53. Hello all. I've made a video about the Rock64. I've tried different distro's, but Armbian was the best for me. The only problems I've found was that Synaptic Package Manager didn't work. It crashes when I press the search button. And sometimes surfing was extremely slow. Otherwise it did fix all the problems I've had with the other distro's I've tried. Thank you for all the great work. Now I've started my research with the Orange Pi +2, and again Armbian is the best choice. Greetings, NicoD Here is my video.

  57. I have been trying to run the bookworm minimal image for the Radxa Rock 2F with poor results. Wifi stops working after an "armbian-upgrade" and after apt upgrade. Doing an nmcli -p r results in WIFI-HW missing response. It seems to me that after the upgrade, something is wrong with the aic8800 driver module. The reason I noticed is that on the downloads page for the rockpi4 it is still showing 22.11 as the current images because that page is showing the 4c info, with links provided to the other variants. The fact that it still showed 22.11 caught my eye.

After shelving my Rock 64 I dusted it off and downloaded the latest desktop image with Ubuntu Focal. The latest OS has video artifacts that the older OS did not. I can only describe the issue as "scan lines," but they are random black bars that appear through out the entire screen (as if WiFi is interrupting the signal only there's no WiFi on the device). I would like to know the best way to bisect the issue as I'm fully capable of cloning the repo, building the image, loading the image and testing it out but if there are pointers to simplify the process I'd love to hear. Hoping to give back since this is a community supported board. Thanks.

  96. I solved this for myself and created an account so I could post it here. I saw a few posts going back years which said either this can't be done on an Orange Pi 5 or they had no replies. The problem: I wanted to boot my system from the EMMC but leave my large capacity SD card plugged in for extra storage. The script in armbian-config worked as expected. However, leaving the SD card inserted caused the board to continue to boot from it. Wiping the SD prevented the board from booting at all. I could eject the SD card, boot from the EMMC and then re-insert the SD card to use it as storage, but that's annoying. The solution: I noticed …

  97. Hello, As stated recently I had setup a Rock5B with Jammy/Mutimedia and had issues with a 2160P / 3840 x 2160 screen. Initially bootup would show a flickering screen. Adding the custom resolutions via cvt/xrandr and setting line in boot env: "exrtaargs-video=HDMI-A-1:3840x2160@60" fixed that issue However the initial login screen and logout screen resulted in a vibrant flickering background . This was on a Sceptre 50" TV and other perihperials would normally work fine. This took a while to figure out because I was confusing my active desktop provider and Gdm was being used: https://askubuntu.com/questions/91…

Hi, I'm using Armbian Bookworm for my Orangepi 4 LTS (RK3399). In the setting section (Armbian-config), I did enable SPI, however after rebooting, there is no spidev in the /dev/ directory. I hope you can help me. Also I need usart2B, I know its pins are available in this board but I don't see any related configuration or options.

Hi all, a new RK3399 board appeared, it is called RockPi4 I have two of these beasts here already, and they works nicely - I like the small details about it (nice eMMC fixture, all heat plates on the bottom side for simple cooling, and an M.2 PICe slot for my second network card Do you see any chance to get Armbian working on that beast, and if so, what can *I* do (with my limited experience in kernel programming)? Debian is working on it already, in case you need more specific information please let me know. Any help is appreciated. So far, Michael

Hi all, has anyone here got a camera to work on the M4 running Linux - I know they work with Android but what a waste of a board putting Android on it
