Device: Orange Pi 5B OS: Armbian 23.5.0-trunk.135 Bookworm Pipewire devices listed using pactl list sources only lists a single input device, which I think corresponds to the headphone jack input device. There should be 2 input devices, one for the onboard MIC and one for the headphone mic. When trying to test the onboard mic with arecord -l the audio is completely silent which indicates that the only device enumerated by arecord actually corresponds to the headphone MIC Unforunately, I don't recall if the original OrangePi OS had both mic options listed or not, but I can check if necessary. Has anyone previously teste…

If someone of you likes karaoke I highly can recommend running UltraStar Deluxe (OpenSource SingStar clone) on the Rock Pi 4. https://github.com/UltraStar-Deluxe/USDX I‘ve used the Focal gnome desktop 5.10 image and built UltraStar Deluxe as described. Performance is very good!!! Even with 1080p videos I can‘t see a difference compared to my desktop pc. With the original wireless PS3 SingStar microphones this is a pretty nice and portable setup.

Hello, I have been trying to interface with a MCP2518FD CAN controller using a RockPi 4b and have been encountering some issues. The specifications in which I want the CANbus to operate are as such: Baud: 250kb/s FD: OFF Other details: Oscillator: 40MHz SPI Bus: SPI1 (see below) The RockPi pins that are being used are the following (based on the standard pinout of the RockPi 4B https://wiki.radxa.com/Rock4/hardware/gpio) Pin #19 SPI1_TXD -> MOSI Pin #21 SPI1_RXD -> MISO Pin #23 SPI1_CLK -> SCK Pin #22 GPIO4_D5 -> INT Pin #24 SPI1_CSn -> CS I have tri…

The binaries supplied with the ArmBian release for the Rock Pi 4 work great. However, when I try to build my own from Mainline sources, I see lots of booting issues. Do you use Rockchip provided binaries, or are they built from scratch? Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi, I am trying to disable UAS mode on attached USB HDs (I have quite a good amount of those) to avoid quite common issues. However, it seems that the usb_storage.quirks string is limited to 127 chars! dmesg shows: usb_storage.quirks: string doesn't fit in 127 chars I do not really see the point of limiting the string length to 127 chars..a bit more would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm trying to enable i2c3 on my orange pi 5b, according to the user manual, i2c is disabled on the 26 header pins by default, and to enable them, you need to edit the /boot/orangepiEnv.txt file, however, my orange pi doesn't have that file. I tried creating a new file and copying the required instructions, then restarted linux, but it still didn't work. Has anyone encountered a similar issue or does anyone know how to resolve this?

I see the latest images for the Rock64 are marked as desktop. I am looking for a lightweight server only version. I still have an older server version that I downloaded a while ago, specifically 5.59. If I install 5.59, can I do and apt-get update/apt-get upgrade to get to the latest version? Any issues with that approach? Thanks!

Hi All, here is a quick howto for flashing a Nanopi M4 V2 I did this using a Linux box and a USB TTL serial cable) 1) Download an image from https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-m4-v2/ 2) Start a terminal 3) cd to the folder containing your download 4) Unzip your download to extract the *.img file 5) Connect an sdcard or eMMC to your pc ( I used a transcend adapter ) 6) Run lsblk to identify your device, in my case it returned /dev/sdc 7) Run mount to ensure it is not mounted and unmount it if necessary ( umount /dev/sdc or umount /dev/sdc1 ) 8) Run dd if =NameOfYourImage.img of=/dev/sdc status=progress 9) When completed …

Hello. I'm trying to get the PWM2 and 3 to work on RockPi E. I made a custom dts to enable PWM2, loaded using armbian-add-overlay: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "rockchip,rk3328"; fragment@0 { target = <0xffffffff>; __overlay__ { status = "okay"; }; }; __fixups__ { pwm2 = "/fragment@0:target:0"; }; }; But the kernel doesn't boot: Any idea? I already tried to enable uart1 using custom dtbo and it works without problem. I'm testing on Ubuntu Noble Minimal/IoT v24.8.3 for Rockpi E running Armbian Linux 6.6.51-current-rockchip64 …

Some of you may be interested to not only store your data on Helios64 but to also run other services on it - such as home automation. One of the popular platforms for home automation in Europe - and in Germany in particular - is "Homematic". They opened up their ecosystem some time ago and allow others to implement their own components (some excellent examples from Jérôme are here). As of yesterday - with the latest commit - it is possible to run a virtualised "ccu3" base station for that platform, called pivccu, with support for a detached antenna module (RPI-RF-MOD) coupled to Helios64 (and Armbian 20.11 kernel 5.9.10) through a tcp/ip network using a dedic…

my Helios64 Board is now so unstable -- it on its own isn't worth putting in more of my time... but the rest of the NAS system "seems" fine -- so is there anything I can replace the logic board with ?? are there any "working" boards to be purchased anywhere? I've looked all over and the board "seems" close to the tinkerboard but I don't think it is one. I believe that it was a custom build. anyone else just try to replace the board and move on? Hello, thank you for your new image work. However, although I wrote to write your image to emmc or sd card, the device does not respond at all. The previous version Armbian_23.11.1_Panther-x2_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz works normally on my panther device. The new version and minimal iot version do not boot at all. I kindly request your information about Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.25_Panther-x2_bookworm_current_6.6.47_minimal .img.xz.

I have a rock 5c headless server running debian minimal with kernel 6.12.20. It runs fine for my use case, but the fan runs at full speed by default. I can manually set different fan speeds in /sys/devices/platform/pwm-fan/hwmon/hwmon2/pwm1 I have selected 'fanctrl' in armbian-config, but this does not reduce the default speed of the fan. I noticed that there are some recent patches published here and here, I assume these patches are there to deal with the fan control deficiency? Could these patches either a) be applied to the rock 5c dts file that comes with the armbian image or b) perhaps it is better to create a user defined ove…

Downloaded Armbian_community_25.2.0-trunk.110_Tinkerboard-2_bookworm_current_6.6.63_minimal.img.xz from GitHub. Burned with Balena. Filesystem is different from what I'm expecting. But it's Rockchip so I don't know what to expect. I'm used to Asus Tinker 2 Bullseye's 8 or 9 partitions. Plug it in. Doesn't boot. I'm able to see the root fs so I know it's there. What am I doing wrong?

I have a suggestion for the moderators: Please move the Rockchip 3399 subforum from development to Bug Tracker if its ok! Most of the boards listed there: Nanopi Neo4, M4, NanoPC T4, Rock64PRO, Rock Pi4 are now marked as supported on the Armbian download page. I read a comment from @Igor sometime ago (not able to locate right now) that the only thing holding back the sub forum transfer was a lack of moderator action. Thanks.

I have the Rock64 4G Version with emmc module Since the latest Kernel Update two weeks ago on friday the board does not boot up anymore. (I was on Stretch initially and updated regularly since.) Even with a newly flashed sd card and without emmc module the board will not but into armbian. I managed to boot into raspbian buster 5.91 once, but after rebooting it, it failed again and stayed that way. until now I have tried the latest 3 images. The Kernel is now 4.4182 and is unchanged whatever I do. with any armbian on an sd card i am getting: Failed to start armbian zram config - failed to start journal service Failed to flush Journal to Persi…

Hi, I try to get my NanoPC-T4 a second life. Therefore I want to (re-) install Armbian but I'm stuck Andi don't know why. I uses USBFlasher to flash the minimal Armbian on it (tried compressed and uncompressed) but the green blinking light indicates me, that he found no bootable device. I tried different images as well. Also differen SD cards, even DietPi image, always the same. The only thing which runs instant is one of the eflasher Images of FriendlyARM. I also tried to change the image that the eflasher writes to the eMMC (by copy the uncompressed .img file to the SD card and renamed it to armbian.raw and changed the config file as the wiki said)…

I finally have openZFS loading as a module with modprobe (still need to test that it's actually working correctly, but so far so good...) I'm using the Armbian Lunar CI rolling release since there is a working Linux-Header for this kernel https://imola.armbian.com/beta/pool/main/l/linux-headers-midstream-rockchip-rk3588/ After that, I essentially followed the instructions for building openZFS, but some minor changes to the META file for license and max kernel version. I want to say thank you to all the Armbian team members for making such an amazing platform for SBCs. All my boards run Armbian. here was the config command …

While a friend of mine was developing my Rockchip rv 1126 device, we lost access as a result of a wrong operation. The device is powered on. the red light on the back is on, but we cannot access the device we have previously identified from the ip's. When I try the usb port on the device, I get a device not recognized warning in ubuntu 22.04 and windows10. Can anyone help me to reinstall the operating system or access the device? Thank you.

I seem to have hit another problem with my Helios64. It seems that overnight, HDs 4 and 5 disappeared and no longer seem to be powered. I've disconnected all the other drives and tried it with just 4, and it seems to be a power problem as the drive activity light seems to light up for a short while, but not at full prightness. Also I note that SATA 4 and 5 are on a separate power line to the other 3. Anyone seen this before? Is it fixable?

Hi, I wanted to try this build so I cant test HW (using the legacy kernel). But, is impossible to make Rock64 boot correctly, having random kernel crashes, It does boot with the 5.10.x kernel version and work just fine, but I need the Legacy one so I can test HW. I can only attach a photo since there is nothing I can do since the OS is halt. Any ideas? Thanks.

On Rock64, I use youtube-dl CLI app.to download the video (720p) during my off-peak bandwidth time, and watch with MPV or VLC later in fullscreen (1920x1080). It plays OK, but this drives the temperature up to 89-92 ! This is a monitor of the results: http://davekimble.net/problem.video.replay.txt . I think the dropped frames are because of 25 fps v 60 fps of the monitor. I know it is a lot of work, but any ideas for reducing the workload welcome. Anybody else get this?

Hi everyone, Two Questions: 1) I have two Orange Pi 3 LTS boards at home. I installed AdGuard Home on one, serving as DHCP (I'll call it OP1), and on the other, I left a Docker with other apps (qbittorrent, omv6, samba, etc. - I'll call it OP2). Both are installed via SD card. But if there's a power outage, OP1 works normally again after, without any problems. But OP2, on the other hand, has experienced data corruption several times. Does anyone know why OP1 works fine and OP2 runs the risk of having to reinstall the system in such a case? 2) If I used a board with EMMC memory and unified all the system…

I don't expect an answer at this point but FYI, the eMMC on a Rock5a and latest image does not work properly. It mounts and as soon as you start writing, errors occurs and the FS (ext4) is remounted RO. It happens whether I mount and write manually or I use the armbian-config to transfer the system on the eMMC. Using the Debian distro of radxa, I can write as much as I want on the eMMC w/o errors, so it does not seem to be a failed module, rather something in the armbian kernel. 2023-10-10T17:05:03.106367-07:00 rock-5a kernel: [62335.087809] Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0p1, logical block 648585 2023-10-10T17:05:04.109720-07:00 rock-5a kernel: [62336.091…

I was in the middle of assessing which new firmware to use on a set of OrangePi 5 Max, since the future of Joshua Riek's one is uncertain, and after installing the corresponding Armbian release I was welcomed with a notorious message warning me not to use it in production. Since Armbian seems to be the most popular distribution I wanted to double check before moving on to the next.

Hello everyone, I recently completed the installation on my OrangePi 3B, and while everything went smoothly during the process, I am currently facing an issue with the audio output. No sound is coming through the HDMI connection. No sound is coming through the 3.5mm audio jack either. I haven't added any images because there are no error messages, just no sound at all. Has anyone else encountered this problem or found a solution? I'd appreciate any tips or guidance on how to resolve this.

Hi all! I'm having strange issue with Rock64. I downloaded latest Armbian 5.88 with 4.4.180 kernel. Hi. I am going to be crazy with this bad SBC (it is not the RsbPi killer!!). Armbian recognize Bluetooth and the PCIe M.2 drive but not the mDP, that I want because the HDMI one is not well soldered. I need the NVME disk too. But I am writing because in the Radxa forum they said that there is a patch to solve this mDP issue. They told me that it is simple to solve!!! But I did not understand what I can do with these codes. I send the link that they gave to me. Thanks for the help. Patch_github

Good day, I have recently purchased an Orange Pi 5 Pro and want to use Armbian on it. Armbian (Debian 13 Trixie) does not boot and gives a initramfs error. I have read on erasing the SPI flash memory, but have a few questions. Will erasing the SPI flash memory affect the booting of other operating systems. Is it safe to erase the SPI flash memory? What is the issue around Armbian not booting because of the SPI flash memory? How exactly would I safely erase the SPI flash memory? Thank You

hi, I am running newest armbian for NEO3. I've noticed that when I issue poweroff command armbian shuts down correctly, but the CPU (with heatsink) remains hot. I left my board for 2 days in poweroff state and it remained 'warm' all the time. Is there something that can be done to put CPU to sleep before shutting down system (or some low power state) ?

It's just plain Orange Pi 3B board with default factory config booted from SD card. As you can see most apps can't be started, they just fail silently. If started from terminal they log some exceptions. OS is completely unusable. Hardware is functional and it works well with the default Orange Pi images. Here is the demo video:

Brand new out of box, the wireless works fine on the orange android os. I then downloaded the orange os aarch64 image and installed. It was the latest. Wireless did not work, but after a couple lines of code/commands it did. I had to add a line to the orangepienv.txt file that was dealing with overlays. After that and a reboot it worked fine. BUT it is seriously boxed in. That is, because of lack of aarch64 support I could not download what I needed...so I tried debian which worked ok, but had issues with processing streaming video over 480p...anything higher I was having screen stutter and ripping plus their was artifacts everywhere. Finally I settled on Armbian,…

Hi team, This is not exactly Armbian related, however I hope to find some help here, also it can be useful for someone else in custom board development (my case). For testing I have Olimex RK3328-SOM-EVB and RK3318 TV box boards. They both behave the same way. As summary I'm trying to boot Linux using the Bootrom and USB OTG only, in other words without any external boot NVM attached. To archive this I build U-Boot SPL (u-boot-spl.bin), which support SDP protocol via USB OTG. For SDP file transfer I'm using imx_usb tool. The binaries used in the process are: rk3328_uboot_v1.19.250.bin - consists of u-boot-tpl.bi…

I ran the 5.8/5.9 kernel for weeks without any issues (no RAM unstability, no crash, no ethernet issue). Now I reinstalled the thing and came back to a 4.4 kernel to have USB-C support. The thing is… Once every hours, the 1GBps Ethernet disconnects. Once connected through serial port, I can check the port status and it's shown as `Unknown`. I can `ip link set down eth0; ip link set up eth0` to set it back up. Am I the only one with this issue ? Is it well known on 4.4 and solved on 5.9 ?

It can boot up (button light is red and there is feedback in keyboard), but no output on hdmi. As nothing can be seen on screen, cannot proceed anymore. I would like someone try this build and see if they can success. Thank you.

Servus! I'm running an "old" Helios64, still with debian buster and kernel 5.9.14-rockchip64 ... pretty much the same installation, as I had setup the Helios64 years ago. So far it is running great, with no real issues. I have ZFS running on it, with 3 disks. Today I decided to upgrade to something new - and installed Armbian 25.5.1 / Nobel - with kernel "6.12.32-current-rockchip64". Helios64 boots up and everything seems to work fine. I was able to import my ZFS pool and it was accessible - however, when I do heavy i/o, e.g. md5sum on a big file, I get a lot of these errors: Jun 08 20:06:36 helios64 kernel: ata2.00: failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED J…

I have a ROCK64 4GB Rev. 2. When I flash armbian to a SD card the board will boot fine and I can do basically anything for example apt-get update / upgrade. The board runs fine and stable for several hours. But as soon as I reboot the board, the board will stop booting. There is no HDMI output and no ping response. Even after disconnecting power for several hours. Right now there is no way for me to get it to boot again except for flashing the fresh image to the SD-card. I‘ve tried several SD-cards. I am using the original 5 V 3 A PSU. There is nothing connected to the board except for ethernet and power. Anyone got an …

Hello. So, really sorry to hear that Team Kobol are disbanding. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to put the Helios64 together. I am really pleased with my Helios64, and am grateful for being able to get hold of one of these. Thank you! 🙏 What with one thing an another, I never got hold of a UPS battery; the battery couldn't be shipped with the original shipment, due to restrictions on shipping Li-Ion batteries; and then the additional postage costs for sending the battery seperately were prohibitive for Team Kobol, which I completely understand, so I chose not to pay the extra for the battery. However, it would be really useful for me to build…

I don't know if it's of any use. Just noticed this issue of reboot not working on Buster legacy. Seems to be hdmi related. When I pull out hdmi for a few seconds then it does start booting. I remember this used to be the same on bionic mainline. Don't know why it's here now. I'm on NanoPi M4V2.

I'm experiencing a lot of issues on 5.10.x and thought a dedicated thread would make sense. I've posted some reports in other threads too. Note that 5.9.x is much more stable for me, but not without problems. I'm also experiencing what I can only refer to as boot stalls, i.e. nothing happens. Occasionally when these stalls happen there is a rcu: INFO: rcu_preempt detected stalls on CPUs/tasks trace printed. This happens on both 5.9 and 5.10. Looking at where it stalls it seems to be around the time the hardware optimizations are applied and/or graphics modules are loaded. I have currently blocked the graphics modules from loading and have moved hardware optimi…

I'm setting up a NanoPC T4 as a network server running OpenMediaVault. I wasn't sure where to post this and I thought I'd start here. I'm replacing an existing BananaPi and I have it and the T4 up at the same time. I've used the BananaPi to stream video files to Raspberry Pi clients running Kodi. The BananaPi has been working well with an older version of Linux and OpenMediaVault. What's happening is video served from the T4 starts playing well but then stops shortly after playback has started. The same video file works well on the BananaPi. I've tried placing the file on an NVMe M.2 drive as well as USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connected hard disks. I've tried …

Hi, I have started to work on a Nanopi Neo3 Plus image (rk3528-based, similar to Nanopi Zero2), announced early March 2026. Created a new .csc file, used the Nanopi Zero2 as a template. Built it with the vendor version. Built it with the vendor kernel., but added the "dt" directory with the rk3528-nanopi-rev02.dts to be "automatically" added to the dts directory and Makefile. The base console version seems to work ok when I generate a bookworm image. As I currently only need u-boot, kernel and dtb's to build my own OS (Volumio, volumio.org), it works for me. Of course, I would like to contribute my work (and support it?), but how do I …

Everything worked - with one caveat: there is a delay between keystrokes and output. Typing locally is fine, the problem manifests itself during an inbound SSH connection or when using a remote control app for Kodi on Android mobile. I have a M4V2, and want to build a mini NAS with OpenMediaVault 5 under Armbian (OMV5 can only run under Armbiam/Debian, but not in Ubuntu) The M4V2 has a SATA hat, and it can support up to 4 hard drives (2.5 inches size), so the SATA hat is powered separately, and I guess this is why this hat always gets overheat. There is a 12V fan interface (2pin) on this SATA hat, just right biside the power button. And I found that there are already some solution in this forum, all kinds of scripts, can drive the Fan according to the CPU's temperature, or even SSD/HDD's temperature, this are so amazing. And then when I tried these scr…

I apologize in advance if I wrote to the wrong branch. Dear community, a question about OrangePi 5B (board without SPI-flash!). There is only an eMMC on the device. The computer is successfully running on the OS from the Orangepi website, recorded both on the SD card (Baleno Ether) and with eMMC (MaskROM+RKdevtool). At the same time, I see the devices themselves and their partitions, SD card and/or eMMC. The Armbian OS for OrangePi 5/5B/5 Plus (CLI or GUI) written to the SD card loads and works, BUT disk commands DO NOT SEE eMMC, only SD card partitions. In Armbian-config, there is only the Insatall/Update bootloader on SD/eMMC item, which does not change anything. If …

Good morning gentlemen, I have just discovered that one of the cores on my RockPi4B is faulty and often causes segfaults and crashes, I can disable the suspect core by issuing the following command $ sudo echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online However, this is fine if the machine has booted, but i want to disable the faulty core as early on in the boot process as possible. Is it possible to disable the core in the uboot environment, or could someone offer me some advice as to the best time to disable the core? Thanks, Leon.

Hey, Has anyone managed to capture image from this camera? `media-ctl -p` shows this device, that mentions the camera name: - entity 63: m00_b_imx415 3-001a (1 pad, 1 link) type V4L2 subdev subtype Sensor flags 0 device node name /dev/v4l-subdev2 pad0: Source [fmt:SGBRG10_1X10/3864x2192@10000/300000 field:none crop.bounds:(12,16)/3840x2160] -> "rockchip-csi2-dphy0":0 [ENABLED] But that's it. No luck with libcamera nor v4l2-ctl. The `rock-5ab-camera-imx415` layer enabled.

I am currently on Armbian 22.05.0-trunk with bleeding edge Linux 6.1.11-rockchip64 according to the main boot page in terminal I was in the process of converting an elegoo neptune 4 into a non-neptune version of klipper followed a guide that used a script was on the last step which was to do a system update...and upon reboot, I have no ethernet devices all I see is loopback what do I do to get my hardware ethernet interfaces back? this device does not have a removable SD card, but it does have a serial port... so everything must be done thru command line armbian monoitor.txt
