  2. Filed this as armbian/build#10551 and was (reasonably) pointed here instead, since it's a kernel-code observation rather than a build-framework bug. Posting for the record — this is a question about the code, not a bug report. Where: drivers/gpu/drm/rockchip/rockchip_drm_vop2.c — identical across Rockchip BSP 6.1, ubuntu-rockchip, and Armbian rk35xx-vendor-6.1 (carried unpatched). rk3568_vop2_cfg_done() waits for the layer-select latch to take effect when it changes: old_layer_sel_val = vop2_readl(vop2, layer_sel_offset); cfg_layer_sel_val = vop2->regsbak[layer_sel_offset >> 2]; ... vop2_writel(vop2, 0, val); /* Make sure the layer sel is take…

  4. I tried the latest 6.8 kernel edge on my Rock 5A and noticed the CSI camera interface doesnt exist. Is there any plan or time schedule to fix that? I saw it's marked "TODO" on https://gitlab.collabora.com/hardware-enablement/rockchip-3588/notes-for-rockchip-3588/-/blob/main/mainline-status.md . So in 6.9 perhaps? (A LOT of other stuff works remarkably well though, great work!)

  5. I'm trying to get wifi working with the new wifi chip on the official image 23.5 but it seems to be missing the dtb for the Orange Pi 5b. Does anyone mind posting that file? I did follow the steps to extract that file from an official image but I can't trace the source anymore. Also any update on the availability of the 23.5 images in the apt? I just switched my release to nightly but it still shows 23.02 Thanks Erik

  6. I am trying to get a RPi camera (imx219) working on a RockPI 4C. I have been piecing together DTS files from various places trying to make sense of it, and I noticed that the rkisp kernel module isn't compiled on the Rockchip64 kernels. Is there a reason for this or am I missing something? Looking at the kernel menuconfig, only one of its dependencies isn't compiled: `V4L_PLATFORM_DRIVERS=n`.

  7. Hello All, Preface: First time posting, I am not an experienced software developer but have designed a working SBC around the RV1126. I have had some success recently getting video out of an IMX258 camera connected to the RV1126 but I am experiencing a strange issue where the camera feed has a green hue. (see attached picture). I have tried to change variables within the kernel - IMX258.c and many other places to change the auto white balance with no success but have recently come across this thread which may provide better results: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=17067 I do not have the RKISP2_tuner.exe in the camera_engine_rkaiq …

Hi, I've installed Armbian Jammy on a Rock 3A. It seemed to run very stable, (much more so than the Rock 64) however the first IMPORTENT issue I've found is that the system appears to freeze when Chromium is launched as well as VSCodium. That is to say I loose mouse and keyboard control, so I can't tell what else may be effected. There may be others, still checking. Any help appreciated.

  9. I have a ROCK 3A that reaches Maskrom/recovery but will not boot any Radxa or Armbian SD image and produces no useful UART output. UART is configured per Radxa docs at 1500000 8N1 on the debug header, and the exact same adapter/host/settings work on another ROCK 3A. There is no eMMC and no NVMe installed. I also tried resetting/loading SPI via Maskrom using rkdeveloptool db rk356x_spl_loader_ddr1056_v1.12.109_no_check_todly.bin, then loading Radxa’s rock-3a-spi-image-gef9f6b1caad.img. Hello, I ran sudo apt update / suodo apt upgrade on my Rock 3C this morning. I did notice that the kernel was upgraded but rebooted. It transpires that the kernel was upgraded to a completely new version (6.12.9) from 6.6.63 (or 62 I believe).

I have a Rock 4 SE with Armbian Linux 6.12.13-current-rockchip64 (bookworm) for Rockpi 4B (because there is not a special version for SE it re-commanded to use 4B). And I try to use the CSI port to connect a Camera Raspberry Pi V2.1. And I does not work, I have tried to add different value to the overlay in /boot/armbianEnv.txt like overlays=rockchip-csi csi or imx219 with a reboot each time, but it doesn't seem to work. Looking around, it seems like there is a lot of issue with csi camera and rock 4 with armbian (and sometime other os). But none seems to have…

Hi people! I'm trying to use Armbian 23.8.1 CLI with the Rock 4 SE board without success. I write the eMMC in the classic way: xzcat Armbian_23.8.1_Rockpi-4b_bookworm_current_6.1.50.img.xz | sudo dd of=/dev/sdb bs=4M status=progress; sync but nothing seems to happens, i have only the green led on, the blue led is not blinking and the display says "no hdmi signal". No problems with the image from radxa. Do you have any idea what's going wrong?

  16. Hi, i just received my Rock 4 Se and a 32GB eMMC module today, and i'm currently not sure if the Image is incompatible, or if my storage modules are broken. I tried emmc standalone and SD for boot with nvme (from an dell notebook) for rootfs When i use the emmc, the filesystem goes into read only as soon as i do some apt upgrade. On reboot i often end up in initramfs nd have to fsck. I could gether some dmesg output: After this trace i get a lot of I/O Errors: Im not sure if this is an os or an emmc module issue. I have erased the SPI flash completely and install the correct spi_loader. It also boots properly with Radxa debian image. 24. As per the title: Using the image Armbian_22.11.2_Rock-5b_bullseye_legacy_5.10.110 Formatting an nvme ssd partition as BTRFS and running the armbian-install utility, install using SPI to boot, targeting ththe btrfs partition, and selecting BTRFS in the prompt results in a failure to boot. Reformatting that same partition as EXT4 and rerunning armbian-install (and making no changes to the data loaded to /de/mtdblock0) targeting the EXT4 partition, and the device boots using the SPI loader.

Hi, I've installed Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome (Release date: Feb 18, 2023). Mostly it works well, including the instructions on the download page to enable 3D acceleration. However, my video is output to a TV through HDMI, and there is no audio. There are four "Analog Output - Built In Audio" options in the sound settings, I have tried all four and none of them make any sound. I have also tried to change all five options in the configuration tab of PulseAudio volume control. All are labelled "Built-in Audio" and there are no options in any of them other than "Stereo Output", "Stereo Input", "Stereo Output + Stereo Input" and "Off". I don't know if this is related, but…

HDMI worked randomly, maybe every 10th...15th boot lead to a working system, or rather to a visible HDMI-connection. But now switching on-off does not help at all. 2. Quite often one can get the board booting to the point where it asks for the password, and after clicking ok, it switches the screen off, and won't return. So the telly says that "no signal". 3. 49. I loaded both the Raxda Debian OS and the Armbian OS on the Rock Pi 4A+ (4GB RAM / 32GB eMMC) integrated eMMC chip and both boot fine. I then ran the Phoronix pts/scikit-learn benchmark and got a big discrepancy in performance: https://openbenchmarking.org/result/2112285-NE-2112281NE08 The Raxda Debian OS (noted as rockpi4a+raxdadebian in the benchmark) performs basically the same as the Rock Pi 4A version (noted as rockpi4-rk3399 running Armbian), as expected. The Armbian OS (tested multiple times as rockpi4a-emmc, rockpi4a+, rockpi4a+governor, and rockpi4a+armbian) all perform terribly. Thoughts?

Earlier I had Debian and Ubuntu provided by Radxa and recently speed has gone from 115 MB/s to ~12 MB/s. I moved to Armbian which is currently available for download. Before any updates I had 115 MB/s transfer speed. When I updated to Armbian 20.08.11 Focal with Linux 5.8.15-rockchip64 the speed has go down to ~15 MB/s. The bigger change that happened was kernel upgrade. I exclude problems like: PSU (it is over enough), home network (nothing has changed) and SSD speed (checked - 330 MB/s). Hi All! I've recently moved to Armbian (Debian buster server) on my Rock Pi 4B - from Ubuntu provided by Radxa (some way failed upgrade). However system is booting from eMMC which has Radxa kernel and then directly to Armbian file system on SSD connected via USB 3.0. Great is that Armbian is working with Radxa kernel, which I want to change to 5.8.14-rockchip64. My question is how should I prepare /boot folder on eMMC (which is FAT file system) to boot Armbian kernel? Is there any other way (reformat eMMC for ext4@32768 sector for /boot folder) to achieve this? Thanks.

When using the "boot from SD install to NVMe" option of armbian-config it offered the option to format the NVMe drive with btrfs. When I selected that option, it briefly flashed an error about the partition being too small (even though I had created a 120GB partition). The actual problem appears to have been that btrfs-progs was not installed. After installing that package and rerunning armbian-config it was possible to btrfs format and install successfully. Also I tried this in armbianEnv.txt: root@rock64:~# cat /boot/armbianEnv.txt verbosity=1 overlay_prefix=rockchip rootdev=UUID=48ad169b-7620-4c84-89fa-6c9a0fcde766 rootfstype=ext4 ethaddr=a7:71:b0:90:17:1f usbstoragequirks=0x2537:0x1066:u,0x2537:0x1068:u But mac stays the same. I've plugged usb ethernet just to avoid conflict on same network, but how can I change the MAC of eth0 ?

  86. How do you control which PHY the Rock64 is going to use? Android 9 is available for Rock64 now, https://github.com/a9rock64/manifests But it is configured to use the internal PHY and I need to change it over to the external one. Is this controlled in the DTS or someplace else? It is running on this kernel: https://github.com/rockchip-linux/kernel

Hi all! I'm having strange issue with Rock64. I downloaded latest Armbian 5.88 with 4.4.180 kernel. Installation and boot are ok, but when I try to do apt-get install lvm2 Package installs, configures and... update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.4.180-rockchip64 update-initramfs: Converting to u-boot format Then I do root@rock64:~# sudo reboot And I'm getting a boot loop... Same effect, if I move system to SSD. At first I thought it was issue with ssd transferred system... But it clearly reproduced on freshly written with uSD only boot. I've dumped armbianmonitor output (ju…

  89. Hello, Each time I'm booting the Rock64, it starts on Jan, 21 of 2016 but the filesystem has a superblock on Jan,28 of 2018, so in the future. It's inconsistant and the filesystem is checking each time and I'm waiting a few seconds. How can I avoid this trouble ? Here is the screen shot of logs through the tty/usb console. I'm booting from the spi flash and a sd-card with Ubuntu 18.04.1.

  91. Hi everyone, Big fan of debian based distro's. Have six Rock64's and looking for a newer kernel (4.9+) with default Ubuntu modules list. 3 have eMMC cards and 3 using the Pine64 USB->SATA adapter with SSD drives. I have powered usb hub, y cables, etc but am using USB2 without powered hub because it's reliable as is and USB3 boot with any distro power injection seems unreliable. Not too concerned about throughput. Ayufan's release bionic-minimal-rock64-0.7.11-1075-arm64.img.xz with 4.4 is very stable on these. However Ayufan's mainline kernels after 4.4 are stripped right back. I spent a couple days compiling kernels with Ayufa…

  92. I'm considering buying a Rock64 4GB to use a Docker server running media apps (plex, sonarr, radarr, jackett, smb, etc). I already have a 64GB SD card available for this system, probably overkill, but I have it. I noticed another post saying the SD card performance is not what it could be. I'd like to hear from other have a similar setup to what I'm thinking about. Does it perform well enough for what you're using it for? What are you using it for? What kind of samba through put do you get on the USB2 and USB3 (perhaps with the USB3->SATA adapter) Thanks.

  94. I'm trying to get a Rock64 board working with a wifi USB dongle, sold as RTL8188 and which is in fact a 8188eu. I use the latest armbian-buster as downloaded a few days ago. The dongle appears in dmesg when plugged in, but no module is loaded. I can manually load the 8188eu module and get no errors, but no wifi interface appears. Ifconfig, iwconfig and nmtui don't see anything they could use for wlan. I have installed the firmware-realtek package as well, it made no difference. I can get the module 8188eu autoloaded at boot, but that doesn't change the non-availability of a wlan interface. Any help appreciated. I have posted the armbianmonitor -u output in the…

  95. Running latest Jammy image and trying to attach USB to SATA 3 SSD. I tried two different USB 3 to SATA adapters and they both show up in lsusb: Bus 005 Device 002: ID 2109:0711 VIA Labs, Inc. VL711 SATA 6Gb/s bridge sudo fdisk -l doesn't show drive, but I can plug into my desktop and it mounts disk. Could be related to https://github.com/MichaIng/DietPi/issues/5378

  96. Just got a rock64 board and tried the armbian testing image. Is ethernet working out-of-the-box with this image? My ethernet isn't working. Also the normal password didn't work (root / 1234). Would be nice to have some infos about that.

  97. Hi, Is it possible to boot from SSD? How it should be partitioned? Can I use any arbitrary partition for rootfs? Should I follow the procedure from this thread ? It assumes I should write the armbian image to a whole drive instead of partition, right? Well, I actually tried some way... First, I've tried to just run some utility from ambian-config that transfers rootfs to a partition. Device did not boot after this (with SD card ejected). Then I've flashed the ayufan's u-boot-flash-spi-rock64.img.xz. This also fails (boot log is attached) but the log looks promising. BTW, I'm experimenting with Ubuntu 18.04 image built by myself …

I'm building a portable battery powered NAS because syncing and having everything multiple times on all my Android devices sucks. I took my old Banana Pi connected a SSD to the SATA port and made it a access point (no Samba yet installed). Booting from the 16GB SanDisk Ultra A1 is 27 seconds. Moving everything to the SSD in armbian config is also 27 seconds (no difference?) I know the Banana has not the fastest SATA and NIC and that USB 3 on the Rock64 is faster. But i don't copy tons of gigabyte to the device everyday and for streaming over the WiFi stick it's fast enough. I'm interested on the boot time of the Rock64 (e…

I've got a 5A power so should not be a problem.

  100. Hello, I've followed the steps on the Rock64 Armbian download page to enable overclock on my Rock64 running Armbian Xenial 5.60 (rock64 4.4.124-rk3328), yet I can't seem to increase the CPU clock frequency. I've also checked the Documentation-> Fine Tuning page where the same steps are listed. Steps: sed -i "s/MAX_SPEED=.*/MAX_SPEED=1510000/" /etc/default/cpufrequtils systemctl restart cpufrequtils I've checked the CPU frequency now and it looks like it's stuck at the default value. Shouldn't the new CPU frequency now be listed as 1.51GHz by the below commands ? rock64:~$ cpufreq-info -c 0 cpufrequt…
