Hi Guys, I just did a new custom Armbian build ./compile.sh BOARD=orangepi5-plus BRANCH=vendor RELEASE=noble KERNEL_ONLY=yes KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no. The image is Armbian-unofficial_25.11.0-trunk_Orangepi5-plus_noble_vendor_6.1.115_cinnamon_desktop and when I installed it on orangepi I see it is not supporting Panfrost/Mail: glxinfo | grep -E "OpenGL renderer|OpenGL version" OpenGL renderer string: llvmpipe (LLVM 20.1.2, 128 bits) OpenGL version string: 4.5 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 25.0.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.2 but for older image Old_Armbian-unofficial_25.08.0-trunk_Orangepi5-plus_noble_vendor_6.1.115_cinnamon_desktop All was well glxinfo | grep -E "OpenGL rend…

I have installed fresh Armbian IOT community image for Orangepi 5 Max on my Opi5Ultra. Generally works fine, but connected camera (OV13850) not properly works. Via gst-launch I got dark images. Only flashlight or lamp can see on image. In original Orangepi 5 Ultra OS image this issue can be fixed by disabling docker and containerd services and sockets. But Armbian system has not any docker or contanerd services. Can you help me fix this issue? I am going try other cameras - OV9281 and IMX415 and I not have overlays for it. Can somebody publish .dtbo files for those cameras?

Hello, I need to develop a new camera driver. I've already done a big part, but now I've faced with issue: [ 92.374493] rkisp rkisp-vir0: link validation failed for 'rockchip-csi2-dphy0':1 -> 'rkisp-csi-subdev':0, error -32 I know, that basically right, as dhy0 has sink pad, and my subdev has only source pad. But I don't know how to change the sides, or avoid it to link in such order. I've already spent a lot of time on this and still no luck. Do you have any ideas on how to avoid it linking in such order?

Hello, I installed Armbian 22.05.3 Jammy on a Rock Pi 4A+. Unfortunately 3 out of 4 USB ports do not work; only the USB 3.0 OTG port works. I tried using the Debian Buster download from Radxa, and all four ports work. Any suggestion on how to fix this with Armbian?

My audio volume was very very low, and very annoyingly I had to boost to 200% 300% which had the problem that the volume buttons were not working properly. You just cant see anything above 100% unless you go into the control panel. Now when it comes to audio I'm the village idiot, but I found a proper solution I think. After some experimentation I found that the module "module-cli-protocol-unix" ( #20 in my case) can be amplified with pactl set-sink-input-volume 20 10db Now YMMV depending on your attached hardware, so change the 10db to whatever suits your situation. After that I made it permanent by adding it to the /etc/pulse/default…

Greetings, Here's a quick and very dirty way to use the NVMe disk for the whole system, except the boot files and kernels which will be read from the SDCard. This method is UNSUPPORTED. Meaning that if you follow this procedure and your system broke, catched fire and start attacking you in your sleep, it's on you ! The reason I keep booting on the SDCard are : This makes boot issues easier to deal with since all the files are more easily accessible. It's easy to quickly read a SDCard from a PC using a SDCard reader USB dongle bought from the local store. Meanwhile mounting a NVMe<->USB readers are no…

Hi all, I have a nanopi m4 with following installation - Armbian_22.05.4_Nanopim4v2_jammy_current_5.15.48_xfce_desktop. I am looking for someone who has retroarch installed on armbian and fully working, and what the key steps are. Im asking because: 1) I tried installing by command line, which installs retroarch to a location with no cores. An issue with rk3399 cores is that there are none to download and must be built seperately (Is there a way to update a file so that cores can be downloaded through the application?) 2) In an attempt to build retroarch + cores, i downloaded and built libretro, which took probab…

Hello, I have had a nanopc-t4 and a few others for a long time now. I have tried to create a working dtb for it a few different times. My understanding of device trees is superficial I have not had good success. I have read the kernels DT docs many times. I can of course run an ancient 4.19 kernel but I would much rather be at the edge. Currently I've got armbian 22, but no edp. I can boot Friendly's lubuntu and then the edp works. Although it is edp or hdmi not both. I must unplug the edp to get the hdmi port to work. Which is really undesirable. If I remember, it can only enable 2 of its 3 hdmi ports at a time, so that is likely a simple DT c…

Hi, I need to use callback function in Python3 on my NanoPi M4 but I can't, so it is very nice if anyone can help me with this issue. So far I've tried the function with wiringpi as shown command bellow but this doesn't work at all, that generates some errors and after that my command in /usr/bin/ doesn't work .... I can use other functions in wirignpi so guess something is wrong with only this function... Hi all, I've been running the official Orange Pi 1.0.2 Jammy image (grabbed from their drive) since 2023, and I just realized I'm stuck on a 5.10.110 kernel with no real update path. Joshua-Riek/ubuntu-rockchip looked like a great alternative, but it's archived now, so Armbian is my default plan. I've browsed a bunch of threads here about eMMC installs on the 5B being finicky, so before I dive in I'd rather ask around first. Questions: Which Armbian image/branch/version do you run day to day on a 5B, and would you recommend it for a server? Is there a complete, up-to-date install guide for eMMC on the 5B specifically? Do I need t…

I've been struggling to get interrupt to work on my 5b with a water flow sensor. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Here's what I've tried and validated so far: Hardware: The flow sensor signal wire is connected to wiringpi pin 2, which is physical pin 7, gpio pin 54 I've put in a pull-down resistor between the gpio pin and GND I've confirmed with a multi-meter that the signal line has a voltage of 0 when the sensor isn't spinning. I've confirmed that "gpio read 2" shows the pin as 0 in that state I've confirmed that the signal line voltage peaks to around 1.5 vdc when the …

If anyone is still interested, I have a Helios 64 that I assembled, looked at, but never got around to using for more than a couple hours. I am now working on Bionic Desktop for Orange Pi rk3399. I want to do something similar to what have been done on Raspberry. i.e to use hdmi ddc as i2c (i2c over hmdi) http://blog.koalo.de/2013/11/i2c-over-hdmi.html I could run i2cdump, ic2get and i2cwrite without any problem but I can't find the i2c device for hdmi ddc of my OrangePi rk3399. Dear Community, This might only be with the NanoPI-r6c images, but the SHASUM contains a temporary path which you don't have an thus fails. Since we cannot change the SHASUM because then the ASC would fail, I have a temporary workaround: sed 's,/.*/,,' armbian.img.sha | sha256sum -c In a script you could either 1. CD into the directory of the image 2. Run the SHASUM there 3. Use $OLDPWD to return or correct the SHASUM inline: sha256sum /path/to/file | sed 's,/.*/,,' > armbian.img.sha Dantes

Hello, I had a NanoPi M4v2 running 5.10.63 (buster) for a while without issue. Both I2C and SPI were working perfectly fine and the system was stable. Today apt updated the kernel to 5.15.25 and it broke multiple things, the first issue was that the network wasn't working properly, yellow light but not green one / no IP requested from the local DHCP server. System logs: http://ix.io/4bd2 I have been using Armbian OS with Rock Pi 4B. The problem with Rock Pi 4B is that it doesn't have a power-on/off button. So, for closed systems with no keyboard/UI, there is no way to shutdown/start the system properly. Only option is to disconnect the power cable, which has corrupted my OS few times(by the way didn't happen on Debian). I implemented shutdown function through MRAA library and by attaching a button to 40-pin GPIO header. But with this approach, system can go to sleep, but cannot wake-up through button because my software is not running. As I have understood, the best approach to have a proper button f…

Hello, I have a problem with my OrangePi 4, if I connect it with the operating system already installed at the factory (Android 8), I can get my USB keyboard and mouse connected to work normally. However, whenever I try a new image, be it Debian, Armbian or another version of Ubuntu, I can only get the mouse to work, the keyboard never works and I get stuck in the login screen where I can't write even the username and password. Can someone help me?

Hi there, I wanted to share with everyone here the final product - a gaming handheld we've designed from scratch in Solidworks. I've been working on this with a fellow Armbian contributor @GinKage for quite some time (probably over a year now... time really does fly) who has helped me learn a lot on the software side, which I wasn't really familiar with before I reached out to him. Despite it's shortcomings, I'm really happy with the v1 build. I hope you guys like it! I installed tvheadend on Armbian 22.08 Jammy and Bullseye using the 5.15 kernel. Tvheadend runs fine for a while and then freezes and disconnects filling the log file with the following message: rock64 kernel : au0828: recv_control_msg() Failed receiving control message, error -71. At first I thought it was a problem with Jammy, but I still had the same problem on Bullseye. So I switched to the legacy kernel 4.4.213-rockchip64 and I do not have the problem. I am using a Rock64 Ver. 2 with usb dvb tuner for tvheadend and it is stable running Bullseye with kernel 4.4.213. I am not sure what changed between these kernel ve…

I want to use the mainline u-boot spl to load the u-boot proper(u-boot.itb) from nvme, so that the only part off the nvme is the tpl/spl in the emmc/sd/spi flash. But now the mainline u-boot has no pcie driver and no nvme support in spl. I have found the radxa guys using their u-boot in spi flash to boot kernel from nvme. But their pcie driver(https://github.com/radxa/u-boot/commit/096f2c16bbfa24c93a4c87e31334d5b5064dfd0a) has a limitation: It can not be used in u-boot spl, or it would not function properly in u-boot proper and fail the boot. After some frustrating tryings and compare with the linux driver, I found that the port initialization proce…

I'm trying to get wifi working with the new wifi chip on the official image 23.5 but it seems to be missing the dtb for the Orange Pi 5b. Does anyone mind posting that file? Has anyone here tested the Rock64 successfully with an u-boot version which is not the one from ayufan? I did not have much luck with the rk3328 default config and mainline u-boot when I tried it a while back. The same is true when I tried to use the board config from ayufan with mainline u-boot. The version by ayufan is working in principle but also is rather dated as far as I know and therefore does not support some newer features. Anyone knows if the version from ayufan will be bumped or has a working config for a more recent u-boot version?

There seems to be some issue with the very early bootup on the rockpi-S using the dev or current target (not the 4.4 kernel) It hangs and requires a reboot, something like every 4th bootup works. Hi, I had some issues regarding WireGuard that are solved now. Since my armbian release already contains wireguard I have no need to install it. However I wanted to prevent any future mistake rendering my installation unbootable. I am still trying unsuccessfully to get the sound through the rt5651 codec using the main line kernel (I use NanoPC-T4). I corrected the dts/dtb file and assembled the kernel module. The kernel performs i2s bus and codec switching. The corresponding audio device appears on the system. I start a alsamixer. I can change settings. When I change some settings, I can even hear clicks in the dynamic. So the codec chip is powered up. And the codec chip is controlled through the i2c bus. I can switch the audio output through the codec. But there is no sound. I can 't figure out what the reason is. The dts/dtb files for main line kernel and rockchip 4.4.xxx kernel are slightly dif…

The armbian edge image for the FriendlyElec CM3588-NAS is currently on kernel 6.17 but has no HDMI audio despite it having been added in 6.15 (I think). This is simply because it has not been enabled in the device tree for this board. You can enable it with this user overlay: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { fragment@0 { target-path = "/hdmi0-sound"; __overlay__ { status = "okay"; }; }; fragment@1 { target-path = "/hdmi1-sound"; __overlay__ { status = "okay"; }; }; };

I loaded both the Raxda Debian OS and the Armbian OS on the Rock Pi 4A+ (4GB RAM / 32GB eMMC) integrated eMMC chip and both boot fine. I then ran the Phoronix pts/scikit-learn benchmark and got a big discrepancy in performance: https://openbenchmarking.org/result/2112285-NE-2112281NE08 The Raxda Debian OS (noted as rockpi4a+raxdadebian in the benchmark) performs basically the same as the Rock Pi 4A version (noted as rockpi4-rk3399 running Armbian), as expected. The Armbian OS (tested multiple times as rockpi4a-emmc, rockpi4a+, rockpi4a+governor, and rockpi4a+armbian) all perform terribly. Thoughts?

I have had some success recently getting video out of an IMX258 camera connected to the RV1126 but I am experiencing a strange issue where the camera feed has a green hue. (see attached picture). U-boot defaults to "In: serial" and also listens for packets (its assumed that its a keyboard/terminal) so that a keypress can stop autoboot. I am successfully using /dev/ttyS2 after modifying /boot/armbianEnv.txt (Console=Display) and masking the gettyS2 service. The device/system I have connected to UART2 (/dev/ttyS2) periodically sends bytes. Thus, if a remote restart or a cold boot is performed (power glitch or power reset) while that system is connected to UART2, it triggers the abort of Autoboot. Requiring the other system/device to be disconnected from UART2, a cold boot of the RockPi4 and then reconnection of the system/device to UART2. I…

I don't have a NanoPC-T4, but I have a NanoPC-T6 which I mainly bought because of the Dual Camera options of the MCAM400 on the T4 and the high-speed encoding properties of the Rockchip... those possibilities should be very similar for the T6 actually... It's quite some time ago that I used my rockpi however today I wanted to restart my project again (some sensors with an A/D Board connected to SPI). First of all I tested the Board on a Raspberry Pi (with Raspbian) there it is working as expected so it is not a hardware issue. I connected my board MOSI = GPIO2_B2 (Pin 29), MISO = GPIO2_B1 (Pin 31), CS = GPIO2_B4 (Pin 33), Clock = GPIO2_B3 (Pin 7). The matter is that it sometimes works and the correct data is received but just once in a while. For me it seems that the CS is not working properly but how to get SPI communication working correctly? In the attached screenshot the value 744 is the correct value, i …

Hey folks, So here's the setup I have: I have an Orange Pi 4B running the Orange Pi 4 image and kernel 5.6.17-rockchip64. Hello! I have OrangePi4 and it works quite well out of the box with Armbian desktop latest. However there were some minor problems, this is the first one: Video resolution was incorrect by default in console framebuffer. The screen is 1920x1080, but default was 1280x720. The solution is adding extraargs=video=1920x1080@60 To /boot/armbianEnv.txt . The part after first = is passed to the Kernel command line and kernel enables the resolution. This have fixed my problem mostly, however, the video output is enabled only during late boot. This is not a big problem, but it would be better if the screen lit up immediately after the computer is powere…

I've tried installing k3s on my OP5Pro and it did not work out because I was missing a couple of things on the kernel. I read the docs on building a new kernel. Did that and was able to get a working 6.1.75 kernel. Even though i got some errors when installing the generated packages. What I did not find in the documents is how I can work on a new kernel. Say 6.11. Has anyone done this? Can you help me out? Thanks! P.D. On a side note. I built this kernel in the OP it self and it was kinda slow. What image can I load in vmware under a macbook air m3 to compile and build faster?

Hi, I have one silly problem developing a FBTFT device driver for SSD1322 display : https://github.com/MarkoBursic/fbtft---SSD1322/blob/master/fb_ssd1322.c The initialisation starts OK, all GPIOs (DC, RESET, CS) follows as they should, since the data is sent through a function write_reg. For example : write_reg(par, 0xA0, 0x14, 0x11); It asserts DC low, then sends 0xA0, then asserts DC high and sends 0x14 and 0x11. Within every sent character (8bit bata) the CS toggles. The problem becomes when I want to send video data, I guess a function write_vmem is called. But here the entire tx buffer is filled and then streamed. for (y =…

Hi, An old problem, since I got the board which is 4C. Not a + - or whatever but the plain C. Symptoms: 1. HDMI worked randomly, maybe every 10th...15th boot lead to a working system, or rather to a visible HDMI-connection. But now switching on-off does not help at all. 2. Quite often one can get the board booting to the point where it asks for the password, and after clicking ok, it switches the screen off, and won't return. So the telly says that "no signal". 3. When switching on the board the tv set sees that there's someone on the hdmi port, and shows the booting sequence, and finally goes to Armbian's graphical mode asking for t…
