It is my first RockPi 4 board and first Armbian install - board working OK with official Radxa image (Debian 9) and eMMC drive. Since my plan is to use just CLI I'm trying to install Armbian Buster images. Unforunately both "current" and "legacy" versions are not booting up. I have used SDFormatter (just in case) and Balena (as usual) on 16B Transcend Premim and 32GB SanDisk Ultra (A1) cards - same result: board is powered on but nothing happened at all. Only green diode is lighting but no signs from SD card (red diode is not showing up). eMMC card not connected in both cases. I have checked other topics (i.e. ROCK64) but can not find a good solution how to proceed -…

My Helios64 has been booting from an M.2 drive since I got it, and while I've been doing regular apt-upgrades I've been ignoring the bootloader. This post suggests that could be a problem, so I figured I'd upgrade the bootloader through armbian-config. Trouble is, I can't. I can load armbian-config without error, but when I go into System there's no Install option any more. All I have are Freeze, Nightly, Lowlevel, Bootenv, CPU, Avahi, Hardware, Other, SSH, Firmware, ZSH, Default. Is there another way to ensure the bootloader is up-to-date?

Dear all; I'm looking for some help with my Helios64 NAS, since I update kernel to 5.15, zfs-dkms won't work. Which is normal, since the most recent version available for Helios64 of zfs-dkms is 2.0.3-1~bpo10+1 (tested on 1st April 2022), and this version is only compatible with kernel from 3.10 to 5.10. Then the first solution that I thought was to downgrade to 5.10 through the armbian-config tool, however when I'm trying to install the linux-headears (through armbian-config) I'm having the herdears of 5.15 (same issue with apt install linux-headers-current-rockchip64) while zfs-dkms looking for 5.10. Preparing to unpack .../zfs-dkms_2.0.3-1~bpo10+1_all.deb .…

Hi, I'm new to the forums and am looking into replacing OEM Klipper firmware on a Sovol SV06 Ace, The main board looks very similar to the MKS Skipr with the following notable differences: rk3308 B emmc soldered on No SD card. Wifi/Bluetooth added - Original boards used realtek and the latest version uses Broadcom. OEM wifi is hit or miss on connecting and hopefull will be improved with Trixie based Armbian. Sovol has mostly complied with the GPL and source/configuration files are on github. IIRC the kernel version was 5.1x I'm a long time Linux user (Slackware 8.1), have contributed OpenWRT builds and hav…

I have two Rock64 single-board computers running Focal Fossa. One is stable and the other gets segmentation faults when compiling and sometimes a kernel oops. After some searching, my understanding is this can be fixed by slowing down the memory speed by installing rk3328_ddr_333MHz_v1.13.bin from the ayufan-rock64 GitHub repository into uboot along with possibly rk3328_miniloader_v2.46.bin as well. Unfortunately, I'm clueless how to do this. I'm running the latest Armbian Focal Fossa Server from August 19 with the 5.7.17 kernel. Do I need to build a new image or can I patch an existing SD card? I'm sorry if I there is already a thread on this.…

After shelving my Rock 64 I dusted it off and downloaded the latest desktop image with Ubuntu Focal. The latest OS has video artifacts that the older OS did not. I can only describe the issue as "scan lines," but they are random black bars that appear through out the entire screen (as if WiFi is interrupting the signal only there's no WiFi on the device). I would like to know the best way to bisect the issue as I'm fully capable of cloning the repo, building the image, loading the image and testing it out but if there are pointers to simplify the process I'd love to hear. Hoping to give back since this is a community supported board. Thanks.

Subject: [R58X] Hard Brick After Failed Armbian Upgrade (Jammy to Noble) Hello, My Mekotronics R58X running Armbian Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy) hard-bricked after a failed attempt to upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble). Initial Failure: The upgrade crashed, and the device would not boot/log in properly . Current Status: After the flash completed successfully and the device went offline, it is now completely dead. It will not power on. No LED activity. I cannot enter recovery mode (Loader or Mask…

I have been trying to research this and have come up a bit blank. I am trying to figure out if I need to do anything special to enable panfrost. I'm trying to get desktop showing thru USB-C connector with appropriate usb-c to hdmi cable. I don't find errors in Xorg.0.log, but still I get no signal to my TV. I've installed desktop via armbian-config. Never done USB-C to any display, so I think I need some pointers to debug and get it to work... Did not find howtos or alike.

Hi all, I've just booted my NanoPi M4 V2 after not using it for a year or so and when I log in via ssh I'm told the / usage is at 100% - I've deleted all logs and the usual suspects but to no avail uname gives Linux M4V203 5.10.63-rockchip64 #21.08.2 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 8 10:57:23 UTC 2021 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux I'm using a 32gb SD card df -h gives Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 1.9G 0 1.9G 0% /dev tmpfs 387M 41M 346M 11% /run /dev/mmcblk1p1 29G 29G 0 100% / tmpfs 1.9G 0 1.9G 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 5.0M 4.0K 5.0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs …

Morning all, so I got myself a FriendlyElec CM3588 NAS board for testing and in the end integrating in my homelab. I tried a few Armbian images - FriendlyElec suggests the NanoPi R6S image and I tried the NanoPC T6 image. Both boot but both have some issues, e.g. no USB connectivity and no HDMI out (T6). While not a being developer or SBC specialist, I am a Linux user since 1995 (server)/1996 (desktop) and I am used to some pain, tinkering and problem solving. Is there any kind of "getting started with a new board"- or similar document that I could use as a starting point to tinker with this board? Any hints, advice? Of course I could use the …

Hey guys, I just received an orange pi 5b, pcb says version 1.1. Unfortunately, the HDMI is dead, out of the box. No display is being recognized. The pi boots, though. Then I had a closer look at the HDMI connector on the board. I wonder if the HDMI ever works for anybody. The traces are connected in the wrong place, especially the DDC lines for monitor data and the hotplug detect is mixed up. The picture confirms that. The pin on the lef is supposed to be hotplug detect, but it routed like a differential pair and connects to a capacitor. The other trace of that pair is also in the wrong place. Can some of you confirm that? Do…

Hi, I would like to share my recent work: a cheap USB Audio Class 1.0 (UAC) input to UAC 2.0 output converter. For folks that may not understand why I have this crazy idea, here is the background: For some shitty reasons, PS5 does not support outputting audio through certain USB sound card, and that is because PS5 only supports very old USB sound card (UAC 1.0), and usually high end speakers or sound cards would use newer, better UAC 2.0 protocol. So, this shitty thing happens to me, when I thought my EDIFIER S880 speaker would be a plus for my gaming experience. EDIFIER S880 has a UAC 2.0 in input source, so my PS5 does not support that. So, what I …

Hello, I am currently working on a project involving local LLM inference on Rockchip SoCs using the rknn-llm framework. I have two specific questions regarding Armbian support for the NPU: 1. NanoPi M5 (RK3576): FriendlyElec recently released the NanoPi M5 based on the RK3576. If I use the Armbian image for this board, will I be able to run LLM models using the NPU? I am considering purchasing this board for LLM testing and would like to know if the driver support is already there. 2. NanoPC-T6 (RK3588): I have a NanoPC-T6 running Armbian, but I cannot find the /dev/rknpu device node. I have tested this with both 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx and 6.12.58-current-…

Hello. I have a Tinkerboard "regular" (without internal memory). My OS is Armbian 23.02.2 Lunar. I tried many times updating to Armbian 23.10 but system always brokes. Previously, I ever can update earlier versions without problems. I post in another topic this problem and finally, a forum member showed me that the problem was that there were no drivers for my internal storage in this version. So, my hope now lies in whether I can upgrade to Armbian 24.5.1. I also want to upgrade because the audio drivers haven't been working for a long time and I've tried a thousand things described in different forums. So, in short, how can I upgrade WITHOUT making a new i…

My Helios64 was running fine with 5 HDDs for a couple of weeks, then I suddenly couldn't access the shares anymore and I noticed only two HDDs were running (the rest having no indicator lights). HDD slot 3, 4 and 5 appears "dead", no power up on boot, no indicator lights. I have checked both +12V and +5V rails and they are present, everything is plugged in. I can move the HDDs from slot 3, 4 and 5 to slot 1 and 2 and they will power up just fine. The hard drives also work in other machines. I'm a bit lost as to what might be wrong, any ideas?

Hello! I'm able to reproducibly get a kernel oops whenever I start a docker container on my Helios64 The SD card I was running my Helios64 from died and so I reinstalled Armbian using the steps to install bookworm from this post. My previous setup was using docker's ZFS storage driver so I got that configured as well. Now, whenever I start up a docker container (ie by running "sudo docker run hello-world") I get the foll…

Hey all! Finally got my Rock64 booted up and running. I set up a Samba server and a Plex share so I can access an attached USB3 RAID array as a media server. Initially I was getting speeds of ~3 MB/s write and attributed it to transferring over wifi with an ancient Airport Express Draft-N router. Upgraded to a Netgear R7000P and the issue still persists so I figured it would be worth it to post here. I would've attributed it to the USB3 to eSata converter going to the RAID array but doing some disk speed tests on the Rock64 shows it getting about 130 MB/s read/write speed over the connection so I doubt it's that. Samba setup is stock and my share described bel…

Hi, I'm trying to build for the Rock 3C so that I can minimize what goes into the kernel and system. I'm new at this and tried mostly default values (current, bookworm), except that I did minimal image instead of standard. The build failed at applying a patch. I don't know what to do with that. Can anyone help me diagnose? Also, how would I get into more details about building the image and choosing what to add/remove? Thanks!

I have a problem with Focal on Nanopi-M4V2 is that when it is overloaded and runs out of memory, instead of getting slow it kills the process causing the problem and in the last few cases, logs out out of Ubuntu Mate ;-) [Sun Jul 26 17:12:54 2020] Out of memory: Killed process 12888 (Web Content) total-vm:3097484kB, anon-rss:455520kB, file-rss:1600kB, shmem-rss:16636kB, UID:1000 pgtables:2752kB oom_score_adj:0 [Sun Jul 26 17:12:54 2020] oom_reaper: reaped process 12888 (Web Content), now anon-rss:0kB, file-rss:0kB, shmem-rss:16220kB [Sun Jul 26 17:13:22 2020] panfrost_gem_shrinker_scan: 60 callbacks suppressed [Sun Jul 26 17:13:22 2020] Purging 4595712 …

Hi, I need some guide and steps required (and if possible) to enable hardware acceleration using FFmpeg. Is the only thing I need since the idea is to use this SBC as Surveillance platform (for example, with Motion+Motioneye or Shinobi). Currencly without hardware accel, using 3 rtsp cams uses each 100% of a core (which translate to 300%). I've searching a lot, but I saw hwaccel with others apps, but not in particular with ffmpeg. I already managed to compile it with --enable-rkmpp (h264_rkmpp hevc_rkmpp vp8_rkmpp vp9_rkmpp) and available hwaccels: vdpau cuda vaapi drm opencl. Any help will be much appreciated. Currently fresh inst…

There are a number of modifications that have been suggested that people implement to address certain issues. My Helios64 NAS is suddenly randomly just, stopping. It appears to be totally random. It doesn't appear to be some form of actual shutdown as the front panel lights all stay on. I lose all access including the serial console. The only way to reboot is a long press on the power button to actually physically reboot the box. I've cranked the verbosity up to 7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt in case something is output on the serial console but I've not seen any useful output yet but for obvious reasons it's hard to catch it happening. Because /var/log is cleared every boot I can't see if anything was logged just prior to the halt event. Not sure where to…

I have a 5B and it came in a kit with the 10.1" touchscreen because I wanted to try to do a kiosk. I used Armbian Lunar rolling to get the OS installed on the emmc but I haven't been able to get the touchscreen working. It uses a breakout board to split the LCD2 connector into two connections on the display (I'm assuming one is touch and one is display) and when it's all plugged together, nothing happens. I've tried enabling and disabling both orangepi5lcd dtds and it doesn't help. When I do a dmesg (regardless of the screen being attached) I have Goodix i2c error for touchscreen@14 I've been doing Rockchip SBCs …

Hello everyone, I would like to thank @lurk101 very much for his patience in helping me how to boot Armbian directly to NVMe in my ROCK5B. I could do that with the Official release 22.11 Jammy with Gnome from the website. The PSU I am using is a dumb 5V 3A which I used to power my Raspberry Pi 4. As I could boot the OS directly from NVMe, I asked if he would mind if I shared the information with you. He answered he doesn't, so here we go... However, I was not able to use Ethernet port neither my wifi m.2 adapter, so there is no network connection... If I have more information I…

I have spent 7 hours now trying to connect to my Neo3 via my laptop using a USB to Ethernet Adapter. Ive also tried changing the nanopi microsd card image to see if it has any effect. from Ubuntu / Armbian / DietPi. When im powering on my Neo3, with ubuntu only the red led shows, with the other two, the Red LED shows plus the green LED flashes. Is this actually possible? Can I plug my Neo into my laptop with a ethernet usb adapter? or does it have to be into a router? The error im getting on my laptop is Connection Failed : Activation of network connection failed. the network manager shows it forever stuck on Connecting…

Dear Armbian supporters, Using kernel 5.10.21-rockchip64 on Rock Pi 4 (and 5.10.21-sunxi on Lime2), I am not able to mount a LUKS-encrypted drive. Changing the kernel to 5.10.16-rockchip64/5.10.16-sunxi I am able to mount the LUKS-encrypted drive again. Error message when trying to mount the drive is: "No key available with this passphrase". Which change could have introduced this bug? Greetings a5s397

Hello, nanopc t4 folks, Some, not so long time ago, I worked on fusb302.ko driver and device tree improvements in order to make USB Type-C port working properly in the mainline 5.* kernel. I managed to get DisplayPort over type-C + some general type-c handling improved before my board simply died. Unfortunately, I was not able to finish all the planned work and cannot continue further However, I guess, working DP is already fairly good achievement that might be interesting for many of us. Hereby, I want to publish some patches to the mainline!!! driver and device tree that add missing functionality, so one can get DP+type-C working on NanoPC T4 (and all RK339…

I'm running Armbian on a 4 GB Rock64, downloaded and installed yesterday. I've been using Debian/Raspbian/Armbian for about 10 years and I've really come to rely on Synaptic for searching and being able to make download scripts. Not every day but about once a week especially if I'm setting up something (like this Rock64). This Synaptic's access to the package database seems incredibly slow. A single search may take 20 minutes. After installing something it reloads the list and shows it on the screen, that can be another 20 minutes. During this time it's got 1 thread using 100% of one CPU. Typing is sometimes impaired, window repainting usually. …

I am in the process to migrate a project from a Raspberry Pi 4B to a Rock Pi 4B+. Among others external devices shall be connected via WiFi AP, I2C, 1-Wire and UART to the Rock Pi. To emphasis, the system is running healthy on a Rasberry. I managed to get WiFi AP and 1-Wire up and running on the Rock Pi. Now I got stuck with UART/UART4. Armbian 22.11.1 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.80-rockchip64 I enabled UART4 via Armbian-Config. Therefore, /boot/armbianEnv.txt shows: ... overlays=i2c7 uart4 w1-gpio param_w1_pin=GPIO4_D6 param_w1_pin_int_pullup=1 ... I can take a jump wire and bridge the TX-pin (GPIO1_B0, Pin#19) and RX-pin (GPIO1_A7, Pin#21). W…

I know that not all features of legacy vendor kernels can be supported in mainline kernels. However, has anyone considered and/or attempted to get the OTG capability working in a current/mainline kernel? I have a couple different projects where I need to have OTG working so I can have the RockPi 4 be a USB device (e.g. mass storage, ethernet, etc.). For the time being this means I can only use the legacy kernels, but I am hoping that might change in the future. There are a number of different RK3399 boards with DWC3 controllers that could benefit from such a feature being available, right? Since I don't understand the kernel/driver/platform glue…

Hello all. I've made a video about the Rock64. I've tried different distro's, but Armbian was the best for me. The only problems I've found was that Synaptic Package Manager didn't work. It crashes when I press the search button. And sometimes surfing was extremely slow. Otherwise it did fix all the problems I've had with the other distro's I've tried. Thank you for all the great work. Now I've started my research with the Orange Pi +2, and again Armbian is the best choice. Greetings, NicoD Here is my video.

Hello everyone! Saw that some luckfox boards were getting supported and I was like: YES!!! Flashed an sd-card with the community image. Latest I could find is 25.11.0-trunk.413. And plonked in my working Luckfox Lyra Zero W and it failed to boot. From what I gather there seems to be a missing partition called "misc" and I think it is expected about after the current unallocated 16MB(16,777,216 bytes). I tried creating a 4MB partition after the current unallocated space but it complained about something called "Magic" and my limited u-boot/rockchip/embedded linux experience made me get lost there. This is the serial output: Whe…

I flashed OLD Armbian 24.5.0-trunk.211_Rock64_bookworm_current_6.6.21 - it boots. Then updated to latest Armbian & does not boot anymore. Looks like some " Flashing_u-boot_to_SPI_Flash " - problem. Hi! I've 2 rock64 boards -- 4gb and 2gb bought with 1 year difference The problem -- both boards have same MAC address. Changing it with macchanger has no effect, same for cloned mac in nmtui. Hi, I have installed the latest image "Minimal/IOT images with Armbian Linux v6.12" with the mainline Kernel. Many thanks @ColorfulRhino , @amazingfate and many others for their hard work. I have a board with 32GB RAM and 4x NVMe and it is working with HDMI, USB and network. I have installed XFCE on top by my own. Some parts currently not working (what I have seen so far): * second HDMI * HDMI audio * sensor controlled fan speed This seems to be on the roadmap for 2025 for the upstream Kernel. For the fan control I currently use my own overlay and want to share it. /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { /* ou…

I have attempted this with the vendor kernels and the mainline kernels, and they both do the same thing. The vendor kernel cannot see the EMMC at all after running updates on it. So that version would kill itself when updated even if it did install and boot off the emmc. The wifi also doesnt work on the mainline, so the options are mainline with no wifi or vendor with no emmc. Install to SD card --> to through setup wizard --> change firmware to 5b instead of 5.--> reboot --> armbian-install --> boot from emmc, system on emmc ---> spends a long time on counting files ---> file transfer screen flashes by in 1 second. --> shutdown ---> bo…

This report applies to NanoPi-4 RK3399 boards (NanoPC T4, NanoPi M4, NanoPi NEO4) running Armbian Bionic (Friendlyarm-based legacy 4.4.y kernel). In other words, boards targeted by Armbian rk3399.conf and Friendlyarm kernel but *NOT* baords using rockchip64.conf and Ayufan kernel. Hi, I'm currently working to enable SPI on NanoPi M4 but it is not working... I have edited main DT to the following one and now /dev/spidev0.0 appears. But when I checked spi with this tool:https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/tools/spi/spidev_test.c I only got the result below and no matrix appears... spi mode: 0x0 bits per word: 8 max speed: 500000 Hz (500 KHz) Here is what dmesg | grep spi returns I have checked the output from the proper GPIO with oscilloscope but found nothing. almost spent couple weeks on this Anyone had the same issue or knows what to do here?

Hey, I am using a Nanopi M4v2 with a Satahat as server for openmediavault and plex. Hi, Just received my Nanopi R5C. Flashed the Debian 12 (Bookworm) Minimal/IOT images with Armbian Linux v6.12 from here https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r5c/. Everything works well except that I could not get the WAN port working. Anyone has any idea? BTW, the Nanopi R5C looks different from the image showed on https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r5c/. Mine has only 2 x 2.5Gb ports instead of the 3 port. The image on the page looks like a NanoPi R5S... Just a side note. Cheers.

I have noticed that the NanoPi M4V2 has an OPP table which causes the device to overclock; the table is suitable for an RK3399K SoC, but the M4V2 has a standard RK3399 SoC with maximum speeds of 1.42GHz for the A53 cores and 1.80GHz for the A72 cores (despite FriendlyArm themselves citing the K speeds in marketing material, which is incorrect). I believe that this may also be causing stability issues with my unit, however I will be performing additional testing (I cannot find where it is getting the "extended" OPP tables from, so I am limiting it via cpufreq-set and testing for stability.) Does anyone have any insight or ideas?

Hey guys, looks like there's no support for board serial number in latest images for Station M2. Serial number on rk356x is coming from otp memory, so: 1) there are no bindings for `otp` and `cpuinfo` devices in .dts, like here 2) there are no kernel driver to extract data from otp memory, like here I'm ready to contribute, but not sure what's the future plan for those.

Hello, I want to try out Armbian OS as opposed to Ubuntu Artful 17.10 on my Rock64, mainly to see how it compares(I am aware Armbian minimal for Rock64 is derived from Ubuntu Xenial, but I understand it's optimized for ARM CPUs) Long story short, I have a 32GB eMMC and a eMMC to USB adapter from Pine64 and would like to run Rock64 Armbian off it, but I was unable to simply flash Armbian to it using 'dd' or Etcher as with ayufan's Ubuntu images. I am aware it's possible to boot from an microSD card and use the "nand-sata-install" bash script to achieve this as described in the Armbian documentation, so I am inquiring if I can bypass usin…

/usr/lib/dri/rockchip_dri.so just doesn't exist but not really sure if the xorg package is the xenial one or rockchip one. If it is the rockchip one then for some reason rockchip_dri.so isn't being built. On a startx it gives it a good go but always drops out to software rendering because its missing the above.

Hello. I'm looking for a PREEMPT_RT patch for your linux-rockchip kernel. I've tried to apply an rt101 patch for 5.10.209 (branch rk-5.10-rkr8), but it has so many differences (especially, scheduler-related)... I've spend a lot of time resolving the conflicts manually but my kernel keeps crashing on start. Please, help me...

I've built custom Linux 5 kernel for Oprange PI 4 including only options required for this board and module drivers for peripheral devices. Long story shor: It works, it boots, it runs, it's hot. Now I _think_ I've located cause of overheat: Linux 5.*.* 08:58:34: 1800/1416MHz 2.84 50% 1% 8% 0% 40% 0% 73.3°C 0/5 08:58:40: 1800/1416MHz 2.85 28% 0% 7% 0% 20% 0% 73.3°C 0/5 08:58:45: 1800/1416MHz 3.35 62% 0% 8% 0% 53% 0% 75.6°C 0/5 08:58:50: 1800/1416MHz 3.96 48% 1% 9% 0% 37% 0% 73.9°C 0/5 08:58:55: 1800/1416MHz 4.04 42% 0% 8% 0% 33% 0% 76.9°C 0/5 08:59:00: 1800/1416MHz 4.20 71% 1% 8% 0% …

Hello, I've followed the steps on the Rock64 Armbian download page to enable overclock on my Rock64 running Armbian Xenial 5.60 (rock64 4.4.124-rk3328), yet I can't seem to increase the CPU clock frequency. I've also checked the Documentation-> Fine Tuning page where the same steps are listed. Steps: sed -i "s/MAX_SPEED=.*/MAX_SPEED=1510000/" /etc/default/cpufrequtils systemctl restart cpufrequtils I've checked the CPU frequency now and it looks like it's stuck at the default value. Shouldn't the new CPU frequency now be listed as 1.51GHz by the below commands ? rock64:~$ cpufreq-info -c 0 cpufrequt…

Hi, community! I wish you have a nice day! Started investigating why do I have problems trying to hear something from headphones. So, I believe there is something about HDMI audio codec related to panfrost, attached you will find info about. I guess this will be useful to catch bugs. I'm 73 years old, started on computers on NCR Century 100 as field engineer. From those years to now, a long development has brought to life.... Cheers, and many thanks to you! dmesg112222.txt armbianmonitor112122.txt

Hello, I am working with "Armbian_21.08.1_Nanopineo4_focal_current_5.10.60" on a nanopi Neo4. During the initial boot, the (HDMI) monitor shortly displayed some text (went to fast to read) and then went blank and the monitor turned off. However, output came through the serial debug port (USB2) and I was able to complete the initial setup. Now, I can now connect with SSH, but it would be nice to be able to work directly. How can I redirect the output to the HDMI monitor? Cheers, John

Hey everyone, for the past couple of days I've been looking into the Mesa-VPU script made by AmazingFate that's used to patch Mesa/VPU onto a custom build of Armbian. https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/main/extensions/mesa-vpu.sh I already have an install of Armbian (Debian XFCE 6.12.28-current-rockchip64 ) on my Rock5b and was looking into applying as much as I can without re-building an image or starting from scratch. From my understanding, You'd need the vendor rk3588 kernel if you want the best possible compatibility with things like the VPU for multimedia acceleration (Someone please correct me if this is not the case lol) What follows is w…

Hi I just installed armbian on my rockpi 4c+ and wanted to check the temperature so I found that I should be able to run cat /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp But that just gives the error cat: /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp: No such file or directory It seems /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp is a link to /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp but I have no /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0 directory, under thermal I have ├── cooling_device0 │ ├── cur_state │ ├── max_state │ ├── power │ │ ├── autosuspend_delay_ms │ │ ├── control │ │ ├── runtime_active_time │ │ ├── runtime_status │ │ └── runt…

Hi! Does anyone have experience comparing ZFS performance on different operating systems on the same hardware. It is very interesting to compare the performance on FreeBSD and Linux.

Hi, On an up-to-date Helios64, around 50% of boots are stuck at "Starting kernel ...". As device is having kernel panics every day, it reboots and then sometimes can't start, stuck on this. When will we have a stable device ? I can't understand selling devices which just can't run !

Hi, I'm very pleased with my Helios 64, but since I updated to Armbian 20.11.6 (from 20.08.11 or 21, not really sure) it reboots at random times: it can run fine for over two weeks and reboot twice in 36 hours, always when idling. It's running OMV as well a multiple Docker containers: PiHole, Wireguard, Nginx, Transmission, restic-server and n8n. Is it a common issue? What fixes do you recommend? What should I look for to diagnose the issue? Thank you. Edit: forgot to mention that I'm using SnapRAID and mergerFS, as well as NFS shares.

Hey fellow tinkerers, I'm pretty happy with my Rock64 boards so far, however, when I recently upgraded the kernel on the oldest one and rebooted, I couldn't ssh back in. So I hooked it up to a monitor and was blown away from all the error-like text that kept flowing on my screen. Since I have if this is logged anywhere (I looked but couldn't find anything after mounting the sdcard in my laptop), I had to film it. See attached video. It basically consists of lots of errors formatted like this: [<ffffffxxxxxxxxxx>] and a lot of errors looking like this: dma-pl330 ff1f0000.dmac: pl330_update:1783 Unexpected! Is there any way to s…

Hello all, I have this board and It's suffering crashes and reboots all day. I think the logs are stored in RAM because I can't never find anything related to this issue. Is there anything I can do to find the cause? Many thanks. Regards.

Hello, I don't know if I'm posting in the right section, if I'm wrong, please excuse me and move the topic to the correct section or tell me which section to write in. I will soon be the proud owner of a NanoPi R6S and would be happy if I could help create a working image for it. I don't have positive experience with compiling a kernel for SoC, but I can test images Regards,

Hello everyone, I'm experiencing frequent network disconnections on my system running Armbian 24.5.3, both with Bookworm and Noble bases, which are both using Kernel 6.6.39. This issue becomes particularly frustrating when syncing files with Unison, as the interruptions disrupt the process frequently. To provide some background, I didn't encounter these network issues when I was using the last Focal version, which was running on Kernel 5.x. The current versions of Samba I'm using are 4.17.12-Debian on Bookworm and 4.19.5-Ubuntu on Noble. Unison is at version 2.52.1 on Bookworm and 2.53.3 on Noble. Both systems also have the latest updates for MDADM…

Hi all, I'm a bit out of date with regards to a working image for the NanoPi M4 v2 board. I have @pask image which works great but having to boot from the sd card and flash a bootloader patch to eMMC card whenever you reinstall ( I constantly break installs by over experimenting with stuff I don't know enough about ) is a bit of a pain. Anyone know of an image I can just download and flash ?

Few days ago i saw an issue after i added rule to auto-reboot device once a day, every time it's reboot it's losses connection with sata hat - no more sata controler after typing "lspci" and some nasty output after "dmesg | grep pcie". I tried reboot manually, when i reboot just after powering on (like up to 2 min), pcie goes back up and there is no issue, but if device stay on for longer and i reboot it then there is pcie training issue and mervell sata controller don't get recognized anymore, further rebooting don't fix the problem, i even tried to connect drives power straight through SATA Hat, but it had changed nothing. The only fix is to shutdown device instead …
