  1. Hi! I was happy running Armbian on my Rock5, but for the second time in a week I got this panic: The journal from that boot seems empty: Any suggestions on how to debug/improve this? Thanks!

  2. Hello, i did an update of the system (apt dist-upgrade), and after the system doesn't start anymore. I use internal MMC, so I tryed to use last Armbian buster (Armbian_21.02.3_Helios64_buster_current_5.10.21.img) from sd card and it works. I mounted the MMC, fsck and finally chrooted into it and did an apt update and dist-upgrade, I atach the console log, the system hangs on Starting Kernel. helios64_20210514.txt

  3. I just installed Armbian 5.88 for Rock Pi 4B and bluetooth is not working. I'm using ARMBIAN 5.88 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.4.180-rockchip64 Do you need further information? Got it working without compiling the new kernel. i manually ran the last steps of https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/sources/rockchip64.conf and copied rk3399-bluetooth.service and brcm_patchram_plus_rk3399 onto the device and set up the service... after a reboot Bluetooth is working fine. Thats great!

  4. Started by NickS,

My NAS do very little overnight so my NAS4 shuts down in the evening and shortly afterwards a physical time switch cuts the power - reinstating power in the morning at which time the NAS4 automatically reboots. I want to do the same with the NAS64 - but even though I've read this (https://wiki.kobol.io/helios64/auto_poweron/) I'm not sure how to go about it. I can't understand if it only works if the UPS has died, or if I have to run a script before shutdown or both. Could you please clarify? Thx ... Nick

  5. Hey there, I just joined the ARM universe & to be honest I lost all my skills with Linux. First I tried some official images Armbian_22.11.1_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_5.15.80_xfce_desktop.img & with all of them I got a Blackscreen after the Logo. (all settings were made) Then I a tried a pre-release so I could finally get into armbian. Wifi : I couldn't connect via. wifi, "wifi network could not be found" But it was listed with a good signal strength. BT: no adapter was found. ( I used armconfig to enable BT) USB: just 3 of 4 usb ports were working. ( I guess it was 1x usb 3.0 & 2x usb 2.0) The Rock P…

  6. Setup: Helios64 with Armbian 20.08.8 Buster with Linux 4.4.213-rk3399. Will change to Linux 5.8 soon though. 5 x 8 TB drives. Not using battery. I’ve had this issue ever since beginning to use my Helios. It first happened when I tried building a RAID with OpenMediaVault: It would crash and reboot while building. Sometimes after only 10 minutes, sometimes after 8+ hours of working. The same is true for video transcoding nowadays: it will sometimes crash after a little while, sometimes after a few consecutive hours of working, but it will never be able to work much longer than 12 hours on such a task. Copying large files from the internet has a similar risk of c…

Hi all, I discovered this distro through FriendlyElec and I think it is the perfect hybrid of deb and wrt, but the only image is a file system, it doesn't even boot. All FriendlyElec's official ones are from 8 partitions with: boot, rootfs, kernel, etc, this one has everything in one and I don't think it's good for a mini device that runs in blocks like any openwrt. Has anyone installed on the r5c? How, is there a clean way to recreate the partitions? (note on boot: I turned on with sd and mask calc, steady red light, and eth mail router doesn't see it either. With friendlywrt and bullseye everything was working) Edit light blinks, I was confused between usbim…

  23. I was wondering if the Armbian 11 Bullseye release would get a release candidate for the following ppa's for Panfrost: ppa:liujianfeng1994/panfork-mesa ppa:liujianfeng1994/rockchip-multimedia Because I was really hoping to use Debian over Ubuntu for my purposes of familiarizing myself with the distro, but only Jammy so far has a candidate for these. I also tried manually installing the Panfrost/Panfork drivers on Bullseye and only got it working once before borking my entire system, and I cannot replicate it. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated, as the GPU acceleration on Jammy is simply amazing!

Hello, Recently I tried to make pwm control on my Nanopi M4. Beside the PWM pin on the 24 pin connector (the one which actually controls the voltage output on 12V 2 pin connector for fan), I wonder if it is possible to use GPIO pins on the 40 pin connector as pwm pins to control fans. I tried to set pwmchip0 and literally checked every pin by connecting the wire to each one of them but I couldn't find that any othe these GPIO react on any settings I made on pwmchip0 pwm0. Does anyone know how to do this? Best Regards.

Hi, In a bid to solve an issue with my NAS (which I now think was a dying HDD) I foolishly decided to upgrade from buster to bullseye and now most, if not all, of the services are failing to start - including network-manager, sshd and fancontrol so I only have access via the USB serial console. By setting a static IP I have been able to get it network access at least. When I try to start any of the dead services it hangs for a minute or so, then kicks me back to the login and the terminal is corrupted so I need to reboot before I'm able to do anything meaningful. Now I would like to know what triggers that unwanted restart here... I am currently on 21.08.3 Buster with Linux rockchip64 5.10.63 and do have OMV running... I could unplug the battery next time but I'd rather solve the issue the correct way. It's strange to me because I did not change any system parameters in OMV or via SSH. 46. Hello Armbian Rockchip community, I'm working on getting Armbian based on the 6.1 BSP kernel running on a custom RK3328 board (specifically the MKS SKIPR for a 3D printer). This board is very similar to the libre renegade rk3328-roc-cc - just a few minor GPIO pin changes are required. I want to use the 6.1 BSP kernel because I expect it to have mpp video encoding capabilities. There is an existing repo that has this board working on the 6.7 mainline kernel with a couple of gpio patches. I've made some progress but am running into issues and could use some guidance. So far, I've been able to: Compile and run the basic 6.7 kernel for the MKS SKIPR - fr…

I have a Rock64, purchased in 2019, that has been running happily for 4 years. I was recently experimenting with hooking it up to a relay board and now I am unable to connect to the internet. I am unsure whether something is fried on the board itself or if this is a software problem I can fix, and unsure how to figure that out. Details I have learned more about relay boards now, so I'll do a few things differently and more carefully next attempt, but I had the 5v pin powering the relay board and the 3v pin, GPIO3_A4, and GPIO3_A5 connected to the control side to control two of the board's relays. When connected the Rock's power leds were still on, but eit…

  90. Now the mainline u-boot has decent pcie and pcie phy driver for rk3399. The only deficiency is the clock of pcie phy not included. The first attached patch add this clock so that u-boot proper can load linux kernel residing in an ext4 partition of nvme ssd.pcie_phy_clk.patch The second patch enables loading the environment from a file in an ext4 partition of nvme ssd.env_nvme.patch More conveniently the u-boot proper(u-boot.itb) could be an ordinary file residing in an ext4 partition of nvme ssd. The idbloader(tpl/spl in spi/emmc/sdcard) could load it if pcie nvme support is enabled in spl. That's the third attachment.spl_nvme.patch Th…

Hi, I've booted the board from SD card with the latest image and I'm trying to configure the board to boot from MTD and use USB drive as a system drive. When running armbian-config (or armbian-install, or nand-sata-install), it fails with error "SPI u-boot image not found!". It looks like the bootloader package is missing the /usr/lib/linux-u-boot-current-rock64_23.02.2_arm64/rkspi_loader.img. Can I find it anywhere? Dmitry

  92. Hi there, I'm using the latest version of armbian to run the linuxptp for the ieee1588v2 clock. When I check the timestamp status, the 1Gbps port which is the RTL8122 is no problem, but the 2.5G ports RTL8125BG are only supporting the software timestamp. However, when I checked the Realtek website, it says that the 8125BG also supports the IEEE1588 clock. I tried to install the driver, but it did not work. As a beginner in Linux, I probably don't have the knowledge to compile drivers, in this case I sincerely hope that armbian could officially support the hw ptp timestamp in 8125 NIC. Thank you very much! nanopi-r6s:~:# ethtool -T end0 Ti…

  93. Last week I updated the Armbian on my NanoPi M4V2 to the latest version (Armbian 21.08.1 Buster with Linux 5.10.60-rockchip64) and started noticing some issues with my Zigbee2MQTT local install. With the help of the Zigbee2MQTT main developer, we managed to confirm that the issue was reproducible on 5.10.60, but everything was working fine on previous kernels like 5.4. Other users not on Armbian (Raspbian) also confirmed that they were experiencing this problem with the latest kernel but was working fine on previous versions. We realized a bug was introduced for the CH341 driver in 5.10.60, that seems to have been fixed now on 5.10.62. …

The link to nightly builds for the Rockpi 4C+ WIP on https://www.armbian.com/rockpi4/ is broken. (Perhaps it should link directly to https://github.com/armbian/community ?)

  95. If you want to build out-of-tree kernel modules, you will need: kernel headers (installed with apt) kernel sources in /usr/src (cloned from git) kernel config (from /proc/config.gz) some preparation of the sources (but you can avoid building it 😉) # Install kernel headers apt install -y linux-headers-legacy-rk35xx # Install kernel source cd /usr/src git clone https://github.com/armbian/linux-rockchip.git ln -nsf linux-rockchip linux-5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx cd linux-rockchip git checkout rk-5.10-rkr6 # Prepare kernel source zcat /proc/config.gz >.config yes | make olddefconfig make prepare modules_prepare cp /usr/src/linux-headers-$…

  98. I've been hopelessly trying to get Armbian(Buster) and OMV to work together properly. But alas no luck. I decided to start over using a fresh and latest image on the SD card. I believe I may have unwittingly screwed up the eMMC boot process because I added an M.2 SATA drive in yesterday and have since removed it. Hence my quest to simply get the SBC up and running from the SD card. I have tried everything this morning, I cannot get an image to load at all. One of my questions is; do the hard drives need to be installed just to get the SBC working? I have tried with them in and out to no avail. Are there some lingering config files residing on the HDs th…

  100. Hello I was finishing setting up my Helios64 (system installed on emmc) with Openmediavault (luks + snapraid + mergerfs + samba) on 3 disks, everything was working and I thought I should reboot to make sure that it is indeed the case (especially making sure that luks locked disks would not be an issue). An what a surprise, after booting up I couldn't ssh in so I connect the serial to log in as root. It seems that all services are dead like below. # service ssh status ● ssh.service - OpenBSD Secure Shell server Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/ssh.service; enabled; vendor preset: enab Active: inactive (dead) Docs: man:sshd(8) man:sshd_co…
