It has a red motherboard probably not a p-281 board, it could be a q201_N device as twrp said before installing Armbian. Anyways, Armbian detects 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage in it. Hello . I am new to Linux I need to install armbian on x96 mini to run Klipper server for 3d printer on it. I tried many builds but native WIFI doesn't work anywhere. Also, usb wifi does not work on RTL8188FTV. I tried to install the driver from the links https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12160-x96-s905x-driver-rtl8189es-and-rtl8188ftv-for-octoprint-and-klipper-3d-printer/ but can't find a working install kernel headers. Can someone help me choose and install any assembly for the s905w processor on which either native wifi or RTL8188FTV will work. Please help a newbie.

Can somebody talk me through, step by step how to install Armbian on an S905x box? I can boot from SDCard as I have one formatted with Coreelec but Android is still on the internal hardware.

I was looking for a low-cost S905W tv box. I discovered this counterfeitby accident because I couldn't boot any armbian image for S905W soc and I accidentally tried the multitool and it started right away 1GB/8GB version and not 2GB/16GB. So be very careful what you buy and if possible send it back to these dishonest Chinese sellers!

Hello there, I have a problem. I've just received my new MXQ Pro 4K 5G, which was listed on Aliexpress as having a RK3228A. However, when I received it, I noticed the multitool SD card I had flashed wouldn't boot. I got Cpu-Z and noticed my board has an Amlogic p212 instead of the Rockchip I was promised. What should I do? Is there a way to run Armbian on this bootleg TV box?

I'm trying to boot from USB using Armbian, specifically LibreELEC, but it doesn't boot, it boots to Armbian, Armbian detects the USB but when i disconnect it and I connect it again, it turns off then turn on but to Armbian again The thing is, how can I boot from USB? Or how can I boot or install LibreELEC/CoreELEC while having Armbian on the eMMC?

So if next year or whatever, if i want to go to my first day after the installation, I could go quickly. What will be the best way to create a "rescure image usb" ? My device is phicomm-n1, and my steps were: 1. Edit /extlinux/extlinux.conf 2. Rename u-boot-s905x-s912 to u-boot.ext 3. ./install-aml.sh Now the EMMC is at the highest priority. However, the USB was always the highest when using previously published images such as Armbian_20.06.0_Arm-64_buster_current_5.7.2_20200619.img.xz What could I do to make it boot from USB first? Hi. I'm out of my depth here, but I noticed that one of the official Armbian builds with platinum support is for the Khadas VIM1S, which has a S905Y4 SOC with 2GB of RAM. This is a similar configuration to many cheap Android TV boxes. According to some sources I can find, the S905W2 is also in the same family as the S905Y4 (Amlogic NE S4). Both are also supported by Coreelec, although I understand that Coreelec DTB's can't be used with Armbian. What would be involved in porting Armbian from the VIM1S to S905Y4/S905W2 TV boxes? Is this likely to work, and where could I start? Thanks!

I have a box with a s905w cpu. The idea is to install Linux to run klipper in my 3d printer. My age doesn't help a lot (65). But still love to learn new things. So the box will be used as a server. Am I in the right direction if I use this instruction to install? Any help is well appreciated.

G'day all this is my first post here, the title describes the brand model, apparent ram size and storage capacity of my tv-box, I know the chip has to be an S905* because I can boot coreelec with the dtb of s905W, but in armbian's case no luck yet. The device doesn't have an sd slot, however I was able to boot coreelec by using a usb drive and ADB. basically adb-connected to it and issued "adb reboot update". Hello to everyone. I'm new in this forum. I'm trying to install (or adapt to install) armbian in an A95X MAX. I've compiled the entire system on a virtual machine and now i'm trying to boot in the box but no luck, the problem is that I erased the emmc to force the cpu to boot from sd but don´t boot, the only text line i get (via serial console) is "G12A:BL:0253b8:61aa2d;FEAT:F0F831B0:12020;POC:F;RCY:0;EMMC:0;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;SD?:20000;USB:8;". Hello. I have easily managed to get armbian up and running of a usb stick, in fact everything worked perfect (hdmi, wifi, gbit ethernet, etc.). The tv box is h96-air-gbit (as the dtb is named), amlogic s905x3 soc, 32gb mmc, 4gb RAM, gigabit ethernet, 2xusb 2.0, 1xusb 3.0, sd card, hdmi, av port (reset button inside), spdif. The thing is, I wanted to benefit from the 32gb internal mmc storage, since I was running armbian from a 8gb usb stick (had a lot of those hanging around, and didn't want to buy a bigger one). Hello I have a vontar x3, S905x3 tv box and I have installed the latest Armbian 24.11.0-trunk.66 Noble Gnome version. If I made an apt upgrade the box does not boot. If I freeze Armbian Kernel Update through armbian-config utility (freeze update of armbian-firmware linux-dtb-current-meson64 linux-image-current-meson64 packages), I can make apt upgrade and the system boots and working fine. I can't boot into the armbian. It hangs at "waiting for a root file system", and repeats the line many times. Then says "Give up waiting for root file system device. Then, " Alert UUID=UUID-number-here does not exist, dropping to shell". It is armbian 24.5 image and dtb file is /dtb/amlogic/meson-sm1-sei610.dtb. I created the u-boot.ext from u-boot-s905x3 file. I dug up an older box, a Transpeed 8K, S905X3, 4GB...tried Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Aml-s9xx-box_kinetic_edge_6.0.10.img.xz, with the dtb for X96+ unhashed. I tried multiple times holding the reset button for 15-30 seconds, but it never boots. I'm pretty sure this one was sold under a different name, but haven't confirmed it yet. Hi, I've got some kind of development TV box based on S905X, but I don't see any push button on whole board except power on button. There is no separate button or even AV socket. I looked everywhere and no idea. Do you guys have any other way to run multiboot on this type of board? Just to let you know, I was able to run Armbian on other devices but with some annoying Mediatek WiFi chipset which doesn't have proper drivers. Hello to all January of 2020 I installed armbian on my Mini M8s (S905X). The installation is on e-MMc and I did not keep a backup of the original eMMc firmware. It is Debian Buster. So I am stuck on linux 5.3.0-aml-g12. What is the upgrade path to a more recent kerner and/or Debian version? If possible I would like to keep my root filesystem, I have some servers running on it. Every time I boot Armbian on my tv box, there is always a 5 second prompt on startup similar to entering startup options on Windows. I'm not entirely sure what it's for, but i'm assuming it's a barebones u-boot command line. The problem is, I don't need it, and it adds a significant amount of time when booting. Does anyone know how to remove it entirely and to boot directly into the kernel? I'm using a Tanix 3 mini with Armbian 5.9.0

I managed to boot Armbian from the SD card using the reset button. I played with it for a while and all seemed very good. So I went ahead and executed the /root/install-aml-s905-emmc.sh script. In general it seemed to work. Took a huge amount of time, especially in copying USR. But it did complete. However, when trying to boot thereafter all I get is a black screen for many minutes. I had a working setup with a small driver issue so I flashed coreelc on an sd card and after booting into it once, I can't seem to be able to boot into armbian anymore. booting into coreelec still works but the armbian sd stopped working. For a beginner like me this is a difficult box to install Armbian on. Before attempting the installation I had managed to install Armbian on a NexBox A95X (S905), and a M8S (S812). I used instructions from here, used balenaEtcher to copy data to SD card I adjusted the /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file and copied the 912 uboot to u-boot.ext When i try to boot the SD card, i am getting an error Failed to mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 as root file system. Full error in the attched image. Hello, i have m96x max tvbox on s906x cpu, i install armbian and all fine works. But. Sometimes when tvbox power turns off and i power on - it won't boot. At monitor i can't see nothing, black screen, monitor go to sleeping mode. This can happen after 2-3 sometimes 5-6 incorrect shutdowns. To fix the problem i disconnect my usb-hub and wifi dongle, insert SD-card with Armbian - and voila, tvbox boot ok from sd card. I see on the monitor until the boot is complete and turn it off by pulling the power out of the outlet.Then i unplug SD card, connect the usb hub and the wifi dongle and turn ON it, boot from the internal memory goes fine. I am trying to control the diplay on the front and while searching for answers came across this openvfd library for the tx 3 mini. I've followed the instructions but to no avail have succeeded in controlling the display. One key difference i've noticed, is that the controller on the board is an FD6551 model, as opposed to the standard FD628. Hello, I have installed the armbian bookworm version with xfce on it, 6.1.30 kernel on my 32gb usb flash drive using balena etcher according to the instruction, I have tweaked the boot.cmd file, and only tweaked the video settings and regenerated using the mkimage command, Using linux to setup. and when I tried booting on the tv, everything worked till bam it kernel panics and starts flashing the red status leds on my android box.
