Good Day I have a Mecool K3 Pro (S912 - 3GB) which includes an internal DVB tuner. I have installed images from balbes150 ( https://yadi.sk/d/pHxaRAs-tZiei) The latest device tree source (dts) for meson-gxm-s912-kiii-pro.dtb includes the dvb config. So the K3 boots fine without any problems, except there is no dvb interface (/dev/dvb). So I need to load the kernel modules for the AVL6862 tuner, but it is not included in the images. To compile my own modules, I can only find source drivers here: https://github.com/afl1/dvb_tv-aml https://github.com/avlogic/AVL6862 but I am unable to successf…

  5. can someone please help the idiot (me) to install armbian into internal emmc ? there is no /dev/data device so install.sh doesn't work after reboot from android or even after two or 51 reboots. what i did 1. made micro sd with etcher and Armbian_5.44_S9xxx_Ubuntu_bionic_3.14.29_server_20180729.img. as i can see 3.14 kernel is the only kernel that works with my meecool. 2. copy gxl_p281_2g.dtb or gxl_p212_2g.dtb to sd's root into dtb.img 3 run update with aml_autoscript.zip from android 4. reboot to armbian booted from sd. make new user and so on. ethernet works. 5. reboot again 6. run install.sh that fails with no /dev/data …

  6. Hello, I'm running ARMBIAN aarch64 on H96 Pro Plus (S912 with Mali T820) 3gb ram I have built new Mesa 20 with Panfrost support ,all is fine but NO OpenGL 3 support at all, just until 2. Is there a reason ? From what I know Mali T820 should be capable of GL3. Is there a new driver to be installed ? PS I boot using the following dtb meson-gxm-q200.dtb or meson-gxm-khadas-vim2.dtb Thanks

  7. I found the correct method to fix the bug that the x96-max-plus(s905x3) gigabit ethernet does not work: Up to now, only HK1Box/vontar x3 is the only s905x3 TV box that can be used perfectly in armbian. So I extracted the bootloader of hk1box and wrote it into x96-max-plus, and it worked. This method is very simple, so it is recommended to everyone in need. Step 1: upload three dtbs into /boot/dtb/amlogic : meson-sm1-x96-max-plus-100m.dtb meson-sm1-x96-max-plus.dtb meson-sm1-hk1box-vontar-x3.dtb (Similar to meson-sm1-x96-max-plus.dtb, only the modal name is changed) Step 2: modify /boot/uEnv.txt, replace dtb…

Hi folks, I have a Miniand MiniX Plus 1Gb version that I plan to use as a small home-server with OMV and video-grabbing from my IP cam with VLC. This will be attached to 2 old IDE HDDs via USB-IDE adapter. http://linux-sunxi.org/Pineriver_H24 It has 2 usb ports on the front and a very bad wifi adapter soldered to a usb port internally. I have desoldered the WIFI module to change it for a USB-Ethernet adapter. So I have 2 USB ports and one USB-OTG port. Previously I've used the legacy kernel with fex files modding the USB configuration, to make all 3 USB ports act as USB. Recently I've tried the mainline kernel and I can't make the OTG-USB port to act as a USB port. …

The problem (Armbian on U9-H requires physical button after power loss) The discovery process (MCU at I2C bus 0, address 0x15, register 0x11) The fix: i2cset -y 0 0x15 0x11 0x00 The systemd service for persistence That 0x01 = button required, 0x00 = auto power on Note it likely applies to the Minix NEO U1 as well since it uses the same MCU

Hi, I installed an Epson TM-T20 II without problem using the armbian image for z28 tvbox, rockchip rock64 alike board. When I plug it, it creates a /dev/usb/lp0 port that is enough to make the printer work. But I am unable to get the same working on the amlogic images. No port is created when I add the USB printer. Could it be missing UDEV rules? Or usblp driver not being loaded by the kernel? May someone give me a light? Those boxes are optimal for POS installations, and no support for ticket printing is a handicap. BTW, awesome work with all this project, it helped me a lot.

Ok, I updated the boot manager so it is now more portable and added some convenience features as well. Be aware that it is not beginner friendly, you need at least some knowledge about writing and editing u-boot scripts, Uart cable is not needed but can be useful during testing and setting up. I rewrote the script in python using curses so It's now more elegent (in my opinion anyway) I tried to get it as close as I can to look like grub2 interface: Now let's explain How it works: First, the sdcard must contain at least two fat32 partitions: -First partition(fat32) (label=RECOVERY) content: This partition contains the main boot manag…

  22. First of all, I should mention that the TV box we got was probably a clone one. Original MXQ Pro 4K 5G has an Amlogic chipset. We got an old Allwinner H3 which to my recent knowledge is very old now. This was our first TV box purchase and yeah, admittedly, we should have searched deeper before purchasing anything. Luckily, we got the box dirt cheap.. around $20 only. It runs Android 7.1.2 which is good for media playback, but hella laggy even for light multitasking or even light web browsing. We bought the TV box hoping my siblings could seamlessly use it for their remote learning. I heard Beelink X2 has an H3 and used to have official Armbian support, so I grabbed the im…

Hello, a few days ago a bought this box so that i could run Linux on it with ovpn server. The problem is that a can' t get the box to boot from sd. I tried different cards but no success, the toothpick method brings me to the recovery screen. I tested the mentioned sd's on a Beelink GT1 and they work just fine (boot Unbuntu without any problems). Can someone give me some advice on how to get this box on Linux because this is the only reason i bought this box. It would be running only Linux for 24/7, so installing linux on the box itself would also be an option. Thank you in advance for your ideas and suggestions.

I tried a lot of armbian distro, but every time the device gets bricked and I'm forced to flash the original rom. Thank's in advice

Hi, long story short I managed to flash a rom that killed my dual booting and my recovery, it now locks up on splash screen just after boot BUT i can still launch armbian from a SD card and only armbian (I tried a libreelec build which worked previously dual booting but no longer works). I am no where near knowledgeable enough to know where to start or if its even possible to flash a recovery through armbian? Any help will be hugely appreciated, thanks.

I recently got some new SD cards. When try using them, I found a strange behavior of these SD cards. They allow you to create ONLY one partition on it. When you try to burn the image, the image is written correctly, no error messages. With this SD card, you can activate the multi-boot. But when I try to start the system or to verify the data in the second partition on the SD card, I discover that the partition is created but data is not available (section is blank, no file system). If a single partition (the whole size of the SD card), the data be read and written to the entire size of the SD card. So for all who have problems running from an SD card or Armbian Librelec, …

  49. Hi all, Since the previous thread got closed due to not sticking to the topic box, I thought I will start a new thread. Let's try and avoid this turning into a general discussion... I have noticed that the price for X88 King (and variants like Pro) have significantly dropped. This intrigued me so I spend a few hours reading the thread over at 4pda.ru via Google Translate and it seems the stock firmware was very buggy initially. Over the last couple of months some OTA upgrades and custom firmware managed to greatly improve stability. Some questions remain as to whether the 5V 2A power supply is enough but in general the box is more usable. …

  50. Hi, I am new to this site, so far I have not been able to find a newbie list of what type of hardware to start with. I do not have any device yet. I have been looking at the android tv boxes on amazon, and I want to start with a $30 box, to be able to load linux on it, and have a graphical interface (ie like a Gnome/KDE desktop view) and then be able to install a vnc server, so the device can be controlled remotely. I have two projects in mind: 1. a chromium based browser install, for viewing webpages and playing any videos embedded in those webpages. 2. later on, perhaps with different more robust hardware?, add the capacity to insta…

If this turns out to be a duplicate thread please point me in the right direction and deleate/disregard this thead. If flash back to Android stock, still no HMDI out (again can adb in IP address:5555 just fine). So, to clarify, when I say no HDMI out - I mean "No Signal". This includes the vendor Uboot splash when flashed with Android firmware (on the same/original LCD that was previously working just fine). Dmesg registers connect/disconnect HDMI hot plug, but no display. Is there an efuse for HDMI out? Almost certain board is just coincidentally dead at this s…

Why it uses only half screen with Sunvell T95Z Plus Amlogic S912? To get this far you need to fix a lot of gcc 6.3 compilation errors from the display driver. In many places { and } were missing in if statements and there were two illegal C code lines like it would be a python program. There is no audio driver and I tried to port it from the 3.14 kernel, but it is too much work. The linux mainline kernel can have support for hdmi and audio soon: http://linux-meson.com/doku.php . …

The overall goal is to provide more useful information to users and reduce the support workload of answering the same questions over and over again. To that end there is now a FAQ forum on the menu. While it is currently empty and just a place holder it should provide a centralized location for TV Box information over time. The second new addition is the forum titled 'TV Boxes running Armbian'. The idea here is to provide a maintained list of current information with links to the details for boxes reported by the community to be successfully running armbian. Both…

This is a very common mistake TV box manufacturers, they sometimes make only one type of holes, which is not enough for the normal operation of the cooling system. 96. I'd like to provide this information in the event that it might be useful some day, if/when support for Rockchip boards are added to Armbian. Before you flash-program anything, make a backup of your current NAND if this is at all possible for you. As a precaution, I thought I had make a backup using rkflashtool, but it turned out that my backup was only the first 192K repeated over and over; I've reported this as a bug. I may be the only one experiencing this problem, but I'd like to tell you, so you can check using hexdump -C before you start overwriting your NAND. It might be difficult for you to find information on the CS918 TV-box. It appears that there are s…

Hi! I saw that, even if not officially supported, there is a lot of discussion about armbian on tv boxes. I read that amlogic ones are not really a good choice and rockchip and allwinner ones should be the right choice instead. I am thinking to buy a tv box to play with armbian, you know...for fun! But I am quite undecided. Would be an Allwinner H6 the best option or should I buy something with a Rockchip 3229, 3288 or 3388? And moreover, what would be the best choice and why between the Rockchip ones? I have already read the thread "Status of Armbian on TV Boxes - Please Read First" but at the moment there are no informations regarding Rockchip and Allwinner.

Hello! Hopefully someone got ideas or a working, booting .img. I got an CS918 box, which is based on the rk3188 system. i already played around with probably the most common tools on linux (rkflashkit, upgrade tool ...) Unfortunately there are some dead download links out there, so i cannot download the most interesting img files. I'd prefer a debian img, but ubuntu will do the job too. I also tried out some steps from the "morrison-project" with its interesting scripts, but it didnt work yet. Thank you for any ideas and links. Greetings CS918
