Im using armbian server edition. Im trying to setup my box to route internet from end0 (192.168.1.6) to internet on usb0 (dhcp). Im running dns & dhcp via docker adguard - but assume thats not working for now because once the nftable rules are applied I cannot access their web interfaces. But for now ping with ip is okay. With my current setup I can ping the internet from the 'router' via the interface usb0. But I cannot ping from the interface end0. ping 8.8.8.8 -I usb0 <- works ping 8.8.8.8 -I end0 <- Destination Host Unreachable Do I need to setup any static routes? Or should nftables handle all the routing? Ive t…

Installed 24.8.4 on OrangePi Zero2. Assumed I would need to install neofetch to launch it, so didn't even try to run it before going straight to 'apt install neofetch'. On attempting to install, I saw the following: Reason is that armbian-config package includes /usr/bin/neofetch. To avoid confusion for new users, it seems like it would be good to either have armbian-config depend on neofetch instead of including the bash script that that package includes*, or have the Package file for armbian-config lock out the installation of neofetch (I think the Provides, Replaces, and Conflicts directives might be needed for that). I had a look around the https:/…

I'm trying to get my udev rule working on armbian. But I cant make anything work at all. I am wanting to rename the android usb tether to a standard name usb0. Ive tried the following rules /etc/udev/rules.d/99-usb-tether.rules SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", ATTRS{interface}=="RNDIS Ethernet Data", NAME="usb%k" SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", ATTRS{ID_USB_INTERFACES}=="*:e00103:*", NAME="usb%k" SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", ATTRS{idVendor}=="18d1", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4ee3", NAME="usb0" none of them work, also tried rebooting sudo udevadm control --reload-rules sudo udevadm trigger Ive ran the command: udevadm test /dev/bus/usb…

As configured on install (at least in 24.8.4 I installed), the netplan config files try to manage all networking interfaces - which breaks the virtual bridge interfaces that containers and VM managers like Podman, Docket, etc create and use. See https://github.com/moby/moby/issues/40217#issuecomment-2041628162 for more information If networkctl shows podman* or veth* as managed then this is probably the problem breaking your container networking. To work around this issue, I modified the file /etc/netplan/10-dhcp-all-interfaces.yaml to only manage en* interfaces rather than all interfaces, followed by netplan apply. # Added by…

I have Armbian running on an Orange Pi and I like to work by changing to su so I'm not having to constantly type sudo in front of commands when I have a lot of commands that need root privilege. However, bizzarely, sometimes I still ahve to use sudo. So for example: root@orangepi5-plus:/home/Data/Mercurial_Info# usermod -a -G www-data username bash: usermod: command not found If I do sudo usermod -a -G www-data username How can I fix this please? It's also stopping me running a script I need that I ran on my old Banana Pi running Armbian.

I installed various version of Debian and Ubuntu Server (CLI) of armbian in orange pi 5, but there is no uart selection in armbian-config. I think this is os version problem. Could you can see the uart select in armbian-config? If so, can you tell me what I am missing? I tried apt upgrade and apt update and armbian-install, but these updates did not get me the uart port selection. Thank you for your reply

I have Armbian 24.8.4 running on my CubieTruck. I wanted to experiment with running an access point on it, and was able to configure and run hostapd to do so. But now I want it to be a Wi-Fi client again and it appears that I royally screwed something up while playing with hostapd. When I run armbian-config and select the Network option, nothing about Wi-Fi shows up any more. Any suggestions where to start to get things back to how they were out-of-the-box? A reinstall is not an option.

I’m trying to help people use my Pi Hat with RPi clones and everything works, except for the DS18B20 temperature sensors. Using current versions of Armbian on both a Banana Pi M2 Zero, a Banana Pi M4 Berry, and an Orange Pi 3B, but no devices show up in /sys/bus/w1/devices. /etc/modules contains: w1-gpio w1-therm /boot/armbianEnv.txt contains: overlays=w1-gpio param_w1_pin=PA6 param_w1_pin_int_pullup=1 NOTE: PA6 is used so that it matches up with the default 1-Wire pin used on an RPi. These hats are already built, I can’t change this to a different pin.

Hi, just to be clear I've zero doubt the problem is me but this is a recurring issue and I've been unable to nut it out on my own. I've found (both with bullseye and bookworm) that installing Wireguard borks my system - ie I am unable to boot after install. I'm running headless and therefore am limited diagnostically (I can't say what errors are occurring when attempting to reboot) I realise this'll make my problem frustrating for a lot of folks to engage with but any ideas at all'd be helpful. When first using Armbian a few years back it seemed as though the issue was that the LTS kernel did not include wireguard support and I discover…

Hello, I am having a lot of fun making my first apps with python and tkinter... and with my recent good experiences with LCD TFT displays, I want to create an "appliance" project. I can start non-GUI apps with systemctl service files, and they run with the proper user permissions... and I don't worry about giving it root access. But I would like to do the same with GUI apps. They would be full screen, 320x240 on the LCD TFT. All I can do now is: * start with armbian minimal (with orange pi zero in my case) * add the DTS for LCD and touch, and the ko for spi-gpio (as seen in my threads in the orangepi zero section) …

I recently used Linphone for an audio call from my laptop to my desktop and it works for audio calls in command line mode With video calls, it is promising, but it complains with MSvp8 media errors (most likely can't use decoding libraries) I really want to use them in my armbian SBC since it is so lightweight (and my ili9341 LCD would look nice with a video call ) Does anyone here have experience with Linphone and BareSIP (another SIP video client, even more lightweight). The only discussion I see about it is in the Linphone google group and the german forum for "DoorPi"... but I can't see a guide to install and use it.

I have LicheeRV Nano (version B), which is a RISC-V computer with SOPHGO SG2002 CPU. Someone ported Debian onto it. The device acts as an "USB gadget" - when I connect it to my laptop through USB, it identifies itself as USB Ethernet device. This device is running RDNIS. However, when I connect this device to my Ubuntu laptop, I always get new network interface, with different IP (in range 10.42.0.0/24). For instance, once network interface is called "enx8a7df6c752e6", and it's MAC address is "8a:7d:f6:c7:52:e6". Next time it is called "enxd23862ad4ce9", with MAC address pa"d2:38:62:ad:4c:e9", and so on. The dmesg command on my Ubuntu lapto…

Does anyone know how a do-release-upgrade affect an Armbian 24.8.3 installation? Had anyone upgraded to the 24.04.1 LTS release of Ubuntu? Any gotyas when upgrading? Things to do and things to avoid? What changes to allow and which to deny? I've done a release upgrade once, it took a long time and questions were asked and options presented suring the release upgrade process. Obviously I'll take an image of the MicroSD card before I even dream of attempting to use the do-release-upgrade.

Hello I wanted to post on here regarding a new project we have been working on called SimpNAS. Its similar to OpenMediaVault or FreeNAS but simpler and more basic. Its currently in Beta but we are looking to have a stable release by the time Kobol ARM NAS gets released. It can be installed on armbian devices as long as it has two hard drives one for the OS and one for Data. For example we have it installed on an ODroid HC2, but can be installed on any PC. Feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, After a fresh install of the stable Debian minimal/IOT image, creating the first user and switching to it, then installing the docker environment results in a non-functional docker. To be more precise everything seems to be running, only a few oddities, when installing docker, like being stuck on some steps (socket related) for way too long, then eventually carrying on and finishing with no errors... (instructions used to install docker) Also when the system reboots at least a minute has to pass with no CPU or any other observable utilisation for any docker container to automatically start. all of the above would be fine and I would chalk it…

Just found this: source: https://blog.qualys.com/vulnerabilities-threat-research/2024/07/01/regresshion-remote-unauthenticated-code-execution-vulnerability-in-openssh-server source: https://arstechnica.com/security/2024/07/regresshion-vulnerability-in-openssh-gives-attackers-root-on-linux/ The vulnerability, which is a signal handler race condition in OpenSSH’s server (sshd), allows unauthenticated remote code execution (RCE) as root on glibc-based Linux systems; that presents a significant security risk. This race condition affects sshd in its default configuration. Are we affected running Armbian ?

Sorry for a n00b questions but I'm confused with Armbian version names 😀 1) I'm using an ARMhf board with a Jammy 6.6. I see ports.ubuntu.com in Apt log. But on which kernel is it based? On the Ubuntu website, I don't see a 6.6 kernel at all. Or is it a kernel from https://www.kernel.org? In armbian-config I see 6.1, 6.6, and 6.7 versions available for download, but all of them are also not listed on Ubuntu's website. Which is the most stable and recommended Armbian version to use? 2) Which version is the next after Jammy? Noble? On the Ubuntu website, I see v24.04, on the Armbian website I see v24.5. Why Armbian version is newer than …

I'm not sure where to report this. I think this is a common problem across distros for arm. I had this same problem with manjaro arm a month ago. On a fresh install of armbian. 24.3 cli. Emacs 28.x is available. It is missing a lot of elpa packages because of out of date gpg keys. It cannot find elpa.gnu packages. It is, for me, completely unable to load and use my emacs configuration. Package-initialize and package-refresh-contents do not fix it. I built the current emacs from source, it's version 29.3 and that works much better.

Guys i have an orange pi zero 3 4GB RAM version, with armbian ubuntu running currently with a static ip, and i have installed a vpn service on it and it works wonderfully, but it barely uses all the cores and the ram, so i was wondering about using some kind of virtual machine service like qemu-kvm, lxd or even docker to run virtual machines inside. I know many would say go for docker, although what i need is something closer to a VM than to a container, because i need these VMs to have their very own static ips connected to the network and isolated from the others yet able to send and receive traffic between them and the network, i have read that this kind of behav…

Basic tool to change screen orientation and its touch input on gnome wayland desktops. Built for Gnome Wayland and displays without automatic touch input rotation after orientation change. Sadly xrandr and xinput are things of the past in times of wayland. And since I mounted a FHD touchscreen to my rock-5b which can be rotated, this caused some trouble for me. Mabye useful fur other people mounting displays with touch support on their SBC's in crazy spots 😛 Basically it's just a combination of gnome-randr.py and creating a udev rule with calibration matrix. I need to install some stuff on armbian system, which is installed on SD card and it runs on Orangepi PC board. It includes some sripts, Python libraries, etc and some of them require to be compiled on the fly, and it takes several hours when running on Orange PI. So my idea is to mount SD card on PC and run/chroot into installed system with qemu on Linux. So I will get much better performance and all neccesary steps will be performed much faster. Is it even possible to do that? After installation finishes, SD card will be again used to operate on OrangePI PC board.

Hi, I built a NAS with a Raspberry PI. It runs ARMBIAN 5.46, a SAMBA server and an NFS server. There are also 5 disks that are combined as RAID5. Since yesterday I can no longer log in, neither via SSH nor directly on the Raspberry Pi. When I try via SSH, I get the password query, the start message about the current status and then the connection is closed. When I log in directly to the system, I get the login query (username and password) and then the message "Module is unknown". Then the login request comes again. What can I do without reinstalling the system? Thanks for the help. Jens

Hi all, I decided today to give an Armbian build a whirl as a virtual machine (guest). In particular, Armbian_24.2.4_Uefi-x86_jammy_current_6.6.21_kde-neon_desktop.img. As is usual with installing a virtual machine, it comes up with a default video resolution of 1024x768; I can usually quickly get it full screen on my system as 1920x1080 by going to the System Settings : Hardware : Display and Monitor : etc. However, here there is no hardware subsection at all, and a search didn't turn up a setting to change the display. Any advice on where to find it? I installed the spice guest driver and related packages on the guest. …

I have an OrangePi PC with armbian installed on it. Today, probably because of my stupidity, the board couldn't boot after upgrading a bunch of stuff. When I opened the sd card on my pc, I found that there were no kernel files in /boot and there were broken symlinks. I tried to replace these with the files from the current minimal image armbian is available for the board, but encountered a UUID mismatch. I then used files from a september 2021 backup, which did allow me to boot into a functional system. It had Linux 5.10.43-sunxi. But before my attempts to fix the issue, my system had Linux 6.1.11-sunxi installed, so I am concerned about this mismatch and would like to sa…

With about 15 entries in FQDN format in the /etc/hosts file, and the hostname set to whats before the first dot of one of the entries, ip a still doesn't show an ipv4 address. and ip r is an empty return. Hi there, I am trying to blacklist a module by adding 'blacklist rtl2832_sdr' to /etc/modprobe.d/rtl2832_sdr.conf I follow this by issuing 'update-initramfs -u' and rebooting. This is a standard way of doing things on Linux, yet somehow all of the modules continue to show up. System is up to date, running on Orange Pi Zero 3, if that matters. I expect this is a bug of some sort, since I saw it mentioned elsewhere here in the forums that this is the way to go, too?

Hello, I encounted an issue with chromium. By default, armbian has PSD (profile-sync-deamon) enabled, and when chromium started, it links the profile dir (~/.config/chromium) to /run/user/1000/chromium-user However, it breaks the cookies. If I reboot the box, and start chromium to visit a website I logged in, the login session was lost. I took me much time to understand the reason, finally I found it's the symbolic link. The temp solution for me is that I disabled the psd service, and the profile directory won't become a symbolic link. Now it works well. Next, I tried to find if it is psd or the symbolic link. I copied the profil…

My TV is being weird. I adjusted the taskbar so it’s not off screen, although I didn’t think about the minimize/maximize/etc being cut off. I tried looking around for a solution but didn’t find topics with solutions that worked. My TV is funky and doesn't have a video adjustment menu, so I can’t do that. And the resolutions available are supposed to be supported by my tv. Am I able to set screen boundaries, like a screen safe area so the display is not cut-off? If it’s not possible, it would make a nice feature.

Hello, this is weird. With armbian 23.8.1 I can access the gpio-pins of the raspberry 4b. With (current) armbian 24.2.1 neither wiringpi (gpio -v) works nor any direct access (like echo "4" > /sys/class/gpio/export) The only difference I can find is the version of armbian. Please give me a hint on how to get gpio-access working with the current armbian. THX Edit: with raspbian it works (echo "4" > /sys/class/gpio/export and cat /sys/class/gpio/gpio4/value), so apparently I used the correct method.

It seems to me that the mesa packages that Armbian provides are broken, but I see no mention of this anywhere so maybe it's something I'm doing? I'm using an Orange Pi Zero 3, which I believe is experimental but I don't see any evidence that the packages of interest are specific to this board.
