Hello, perhaps it's a noob question, but I am a noob, sorry 🙂 I had my BTT CB1 on Armbian 24.2.3 Bookworm CLI, with a BTT HDMI 5 display attached. Display was working fine. Flashed Armbian 24.5.1 Bookworm Minimal (no CLI available on the downloads page) and the display shows absolutely nothing. Flashed Armbian 24.2.3 back, and it works again. What am I missing? armbianmonitor -u file: https://paste.armbian.com/esoboqemot

Hello, I‘m recently updated to Armbian 24.2.1 Bookworm with Linux 6.6.16-current-sunxi. The system is running fine but if I disconnect the network interface, the system gets stuck in kind of a dead loop. This behavior gave me the hint that my WiFi repeater is broken and needs to be exchanged. Anyway, the CPU temperature rises and no further interaction with the system is possible. If I disconnect it, from a normal operating switch, the OpiOne’s behavior looks the same. My problem with this behavior is that after reconnecting the network, it does not get back available, until I do a power cycle. I tried to read …

After upgrading from 4.14.70-sunxi64 to 4.19.13-sunxi64 Pine64+ board started to misbehave after running for some time. Dmesg shows: Armbian-release: BOARD=pine64 BOARD_NAME="Pine64" BOARDFAMILY=sun50iw1 VERSION=5.70 LINUXFAMILY=sunxi64 BRANCH=next ARCH=arm64 IMAGE_TYPE=stable BOARD_TYPE=conf INITRD_ARCH=arm64 KERNEL_IMAGE_TYPE=Image With Armbian Pine64 3.10 kernel board worked without hanging for 2+ years. I also tried 4.18.xx-sunxi64 kernel from dev branch - same problem.

I'm hesitant to post this here, because I am not really sure that this is an armbian issue to begin with. But I'm somewhat stumped. During the build process I configured the kernel to enable real time threads. CONFIG_NO_HZ_COMMON=y CONFIG_HZ_1000=y CONFIG_HZ=1000 CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y However, as I started to migrate my development I discovered I couldn't create a real time thread. So I pulled down areal time test suite (https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/realtime/documentation/howto/tools/rt-tests) And confirmed it has the same issue: Unable to change scheduling policy! either run as root or join realtime group I am …

LCD support does not appear to be working in the latest builds (stable kernel 5.8.6, development kernel 5.9.7) My understanding is that this has been an issue for a while with A64 boards, specifically the Pine64, but that it was working at one time. Here's what I've tried so far: -Followed instructions at https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/ and added "setenv video-mode sunxi:480x272-24@60,monitor=lcd,hpd=1,edid=1" to boot.cmd and put "saveenv" at the end, re-compiled boot.scr -Did a modprobe of panel-olimex-lcd-olinuxino -Rebooted several times -Ensured that LCD jumper was closed and verifie…

Hoping someone can help me out. When I use the desktop images from the following page: https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m4-zero/, I get my display properly identified (connected via HDMI) and can change resolution, rotation, etc. However, as with noted in other posts, these do not have WiFi. In order to get WiFi working, I use the image from here: https://docs.banana-pi.org/en/BPI-M4_Zero/BananaPi_BPI-M4_Zero. For my needs, this image works fine with the one exception. It does not detect the display and only shows default with no ability to change settings. I have poked around and tried to find a solution but am coming up empty. Is there so…

Hello, today I made an upgrade of my pine64-mainline and failed miserably - my new armbian image won't boot any more. So I did some more tests with a new more different sd-cards, power supply and the mailine kernel form the download site (https://dl.armbian.com/pine64/Ubuntu_xenial_dev_nightly.7z): Again, the same behaviour, the image doesn't bott any more after "apt update" and "apt upgrade". Please, could someone help me with this problem? I hope these lockup logs help in troubleshooting. Thanks a lot! boot-fail-2017-09-06-A.log boot-fail-2017-09-06-B.log

Hi, I just installed the Armbian on a Pine A64+ (Armbian Focal, mainline based kernel 5.9.y). I'm having trouble getting audio from the 3.5mm stereo output. I've tried several things, including a speaker test: speaker-test -c 2 -Dsysdefault:sun50ia64audio I tried editing /etc/asound.conf but it doesn't seem to affect anything. Do changes to that file apply instantly? What can I do to test/diagnose the issue?

Hi, I've tried to change the default console from ttyS0 to ttyS3, using the mainline kernel but I don't get it to work. I just received my Pine A64 LTS V1.2 board, 7" LCD TOUCH SCREEN PANEL, and playbox enclosure. SOURCE: https://github.com/MathiasStadler/orange-pi-zero-boot-from-spi I spent the whole day trying to boot without a microSD, and I finally got it, using the Orange Pi Zero SPI boot tutorial, with a few adjustments. Hi! I'm using the Sopine A64 Armbian Buster image version 5.91 in combination with my PineA64-LTS SBC. Hello. Because of bad CB1 eMMC board manual, and very incompetent and formal tech support (they approve that their boards can only be used for 3D printers🤦🤣) I don't understand, what pins (GPIOs) of CB1 eMMC board are used for I2C and SPI interfaces. And what pins will correspond to I2C and SPI interfaces in armbian-config -> System -> Hardware? I tried to test the board with the Pi4b_Adapter, but as I understood from pinout in the manual for the adapter (the pins for I2C 3 and 5) don't work with CB1 (NC - not connected), it works only with CM4. Does anyone know what other I2C pins are exposed on the adapter board? I plan to use the CB1 board as a platform for …

I have tried searching but there doesn't seem to be much info on PPS support. It is a standard part of modern kernels and should be pretty consistent. On a Pine64+ using mainline kernel (debian-stretch-next) I chose an interrupt-enabled pin (PH9) updated /boot/armbianEnv.txt with overlays=pps-gpio uart1 uart2 param_pps_pin=PH9 and rebooted. I have a device (a GPS) with its PPS output connected to the Pi2 bus pin 13 that corresponds to PH9 and during boot this appears to be configured as a new PPS source: [ 5.548061] pps pps0: new PPS source pps@0.-1 [ 5.548135] pps pps0: Registered IRQ 145 as PPS source /dev/pps0 is indeed created by udev…

Hi al!! I managed to find img with which my OPi Zero 2 starts, it's Armbian_22.02.2_Orangepizero2_focal_legacy_4.9.255. But it stops load after first `apt upgrade`. I've freezed kernel with armbian-config. Now I want to use wireguard + nftables. But everytime i'm trying to set wg up I've message: [#] nft -f /dev/fd/63 /dev/fd/63:1:1-26: Error: Could not process rule: Operation not supported ... Quick google search showed something concerning nf_tables module in kernel or something like this. (I'm not an experienced linux user). Is there any chance to set up my OPi Z 2 with wg + nftables? Thanks.

I'm guessing it wasn't intentional that the current legacy Armbian_5.30_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.105 image for the pine64 wouldn't work without the battery? Hello. I am taking the task of organizing and performing the BTT Pi and CB1 support update. The plan is to use mainline kernel 6.6 and 6.8 (basically the default sunxi64 config) instead of the BTT fork and use patches to backport kernel patches for drivers and hardware support. The Jira issue is AR-2312, which is a collection of things that will need to be done for this initiative. @Gunjan Gupta @c0rnelius @ag123 @jernej @ALIGMSTEN I'm asking for your help on this, as Igor has said to me that you are more knowledgeable on the state of the board and what it needs. By following the instruction how to enable ili9486 on orange pi, I have tried to do that with pine64. So, I installed armbian focal 22.10 with 5.15 kernel, enabled spidev and overlayed dts with tft installation and initialization. But still have a white display. Also I was trying another way to use/edit fbtft, the same issue. `dmesg` shows that spi driver no compatible with ili9486

Hello, I have orange pi zero 2 but it doesn't work with armbian versions after kernel version 4.9.318, I tried many versions. When I check it through the serial port, it stays on "trying to boot from MMC1 armbian" and the led on it is constantly red. Also, if I upgrade the kernel with apt-get upgrade in version 4.9.318, the card does not boot afterward and gets a "No ethernet found" error. Versions I tried : Armbian_22.11.3_Orangepizero2_jammy_legacy_4.9.318.img [Worked but no wifi connection] Armbian_22.02.2_Orangepizero2_bullseye_legacy_4.9.255.img [Works good] Armbian_22.08.7_Orangepizero2_jammy_edge_5.19.16.img [Not working !!] Armbian_…

Hi. I am getting a kernel Oops in the Pine64+ . . . .see below. Kernel is 5.8.13-sunxi64. It was installed after a recent update. I would like to drop back to the previous kernel if possible. Does this seem like a reasonable search term for a suitable kernel? So there is some weirdness happening with Armbian on the Orange Pi Zero 2 that I bought from Amazon. These are the V1.5 version of the hardware. With the Orange Pi image (which looks strangely like armbian), once the device is booted, the red led goes off, and the green led turns on. With the armbian image, the red light stays on, and the HDMI output does not turn on in the CLI image. This led me initially to think this board was not working. Once I hooked up a USB to Serial interface, I noticed it booted. Well, at least when the SD card was seated correctly, but that is a hardware problem. Once booted, `armbian-config` does not show the wif…

Hey Igor and fellow Armbian forum members! I have worked with Armbian on my OPi PC and used the rtl8192cu-fixed github replacement driver, and recently just edited /etc/modules to include 8192cu(btw apt-get upgrade breaks this). However on my Pine64, dmesg says: rtlwifi/rtl8192cufw.bin isn't available. I have tried manually placing the Debian .bin file into the proper /lib but haven't been able to get the wlan0 to show up under iwconfig(yea I have already enabled it in /etc/network/interfaces. lsusb and lsmod both show some entries for 8912cu. Thanks for any insight, and let's hope we can fix this so that people can use their wifi adapters soon .

On the latest image (25.2.2) of both Server - Noble and Desktop - XFCE - Bookworm, the wireless interfaces show up as expected and connect to wifi. After the first apt upgrade and reboot, the system no longer detects the wireless interface at all. For my armbianmonitor output, there is a mediatek wireless interface plugged into USB, but there is no mention of the rtl8189 in any of the boot or hardware logs. Did something change in the overlay or other pre-kernel bootloader configs which disable the device? I would think if it were merely kernel / driver related, the hardware would still show up, but be unusable until a driver was configured.

Hi team, There are no current images for Orange Pi Zero 2 at https://www.armbian.com/cf7stdb-entries/orange-pi-zero-2/ The Zero image does not work. I did manage to find an archived legacy image based on some posts from 2022 however nothing on the new kernel works. My question is this: Is there a reason why these devices require unique builds? I understand the kernel drivers may not be in 6.x for this board however I'm more referring to the huge number of builds that need to be supported. Thanks, Jason

The stable armbian Focal image with Kernel 5.16.y fails to initialize the board. If I install the kernel 4.19.y image it does work in both Focal and Bullseye but when I try to change the kernel from armbian -config then it installs but on reboot it fails once again to reinitialise the board. I am using an orange pi zero 2 1gb. Just a couple of days ago Orange pi released two new images (Bullseye and Focal) with kernel 5.16 and 5.13 respectively. They do work and install. Although I would prefer to use armbian to the orange pi versions of it. Maybe someone can have a look at those two images to compare them with armbian to see where do they differ and why on…

Hi guys, I've been running an armbian edge image i've compiled using the build tool (armbian bookworm 6.7.12), and it's been working perfectly, with good gpu support and hdmi out working. Now this is not strictly an armbian question, but i've been wondering: is there any way to overclock that chip even slightly? There doesn't seem to be a single post about that that i could find specifically for the H616? Any and all answers welcome!

Things that work out of the box: display, touchscreen, wifi, USB. Not working: LAN is not visible at all (only two wlan interfaces). Also, no audio device. According to schematics, audio is taken from HDMI output, so it should be supported by standard HDMI drivers. Where do I enable it in kernel config? https://github.com/bigtreetech/Pad7/tree/master/Hardware your hints will be appreciated. smar…

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get a 3.5-inch RPi display with the XPT2046 touch controller (480x320 resolution) to work on my Orange Pi One (H3). Connected the display via the SPI interface. Installed fbtft and tried different configurations for the screen. However, I haven’t been able to get the display to show anything or to interact with the touch input. Does anyone have experience using this specific setup? What drivers or overlays shou…

Hi all, I am trying to get an OV5640 camera working on the orangePiOne. I found this thread and was wondering if the overlay (or some overlay) is still required. Hi, Pine 64's delivery is in full swing and thousands of people are receiving/received their Pine64 boards (Mine is scheduled for May). One of the survey shows that majority of the people have chosen to install linux on their boards. Many people are struggling to find a good image for their boards and current some what stable image is based on already end of life 3.10 kernel and there is promising development by sunxi. I am sure that thousands will get benefited if they get Armbian for Pine64. So How about Armbian for Pine 64? Regards, -- Avinash

I have an Orange Pi Zero 2 set up with Octoprint and a webcam. No keyboard or screen, all access over ssh... if it's running. If it started OK, then no problem, everything works fine. If. Usually powering it up lights up the red LED and... it ends here. I waited even half an hour, red, no boot. Occasionally - one in five-ten attempts to boot - the LED turns green after a couple seconds and the board boots fine. Very rarely the red turns to green after a minute or so, and the board boots up. Unfortunately, having no cable to connect it to a monitor or serial, my diagnostics are quite limited - after booting dmesg looks mostly clean, but maybe in case it's a sem…

Hi everyone. Tried stable and experimental builds. Also build my own image. All 6.x kernels don't seem to have a working wifi on this board. Tried modprobe brcmfmac without any luck - module loads but no wlan0 comes up. The board to my understanding has CYW43455 chip (from Cypress). Apparently there are several variations of BPI M4 Zero. The only image that has working wifi is from BPI website but it's a backports build with 5.4 kernel, so fairly old and outdated (running an upgrade makes the board unbootable). Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Dear friends! I have a project, where I needed to use 4 infrared receivers and 2 transmitters connected to GPIO. After a lot of research I realized how to cook all stuffs together: So I have Pine64 A64 512MB cards (not the plus model), running Armbian 20.05.0-trunk.038 nightly, (uname -r: 5.4.18-sunxi64). I needed to freeze upgrades for two reasons: Boot hangs up: The armbian thinks that I have the plus model: on every upgrade I need to replace the "sun50i-a64-pine64-plus.dtb" file with "sun50i-a64-pine64.dtb" at /boot/dtb/allwinner because the non-plus model (512MB) has different ethernet hardware. Missing gpio-ir-recv kernel module from stock A…

Mainline stable Armbian stable for Pine64 worked great. I have successfully make my 3.5 TFT screen work but not the touch screen. I read some tutorials, mostly guide. This guide for TFT and Touch is really detailed. For touch: - Step 1: ads7846 driver seems ok - Step 2: ads7846_device there is a warning after make and make install, and it said to skip depmod - After this, I tried sudo modprob ads7846 sudo modprob ads7846_device model=7846 cs=1 gpio_pendown=1 keep_vref_on=1 swap_xy=1 pressure_max=255 x_plate_ohms=60 x_min=200 x_max=3900 y_min=200 y_max=3900 ads7846 is ok (confirmed with lsmod). But ads7846_device return invalid argum…

I'm using a Pine 64 LTS. For this I have downloaded the SoPine images Armbian_21.08.1_Pine64so_buster_current_5.10.60.img and Armbian_21.08.1_Pine64so_focal_current_5.10.60.img Both images boot normally (including network connection), but after the update (apt update, apt upgrade) no IP4 network connection is established for eth0. For help I am very grateful for any help.

Hi, After many attempt to installs and remove various version of teamviewer, I finally was able to make it run successfully. I try to use many architecture package even if they were not supposed to work. The running teamviewer is at the following link. I know it's not supposed to work but it is. https://download.teamviewer.com/download/linux/teamviewer-host_armhf.deb Here kind of command that I used randomly (I know, not really scientific approach!) sudo dpkg --add-architecture amd64 sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386 sudo apt-get install -f sudo apt-get update sudo dpkg --remove-architecture amd64 …

Hi I have been trying to allocate specific gpio's as input via the Device Tree, this ultimately being for a custom made board. I can and have successfully allocated pins PB0, PB1, PB3 & PB5, which are showing in /dev/inputs/by-path and have been verified working with evtest. Working code :- /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __overlay__ { input_0: input_0 { pins = "PB0"; function = "gpio_in"; bias-pull-up; }; }; }; fragment@1 { target-path = "/"; __overlay__ { button_1 { compatible = "gpio-keys"; pinctrl-names = "default"…

Hi, I'm trying to use the emmc device located on the Pine64LTS - not neccessarily to boot (though that would be nice). I'm employing a 16GB FORESEE card, which I obtained from the Pine folks. First I installed the Stable SoPine64 Armbian_5.30_Pine64so_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.105 image from the Download web page. When I booted the image from an microSD card, only /dev/mmcblk0 showed up - no /dev/mmcblk1. When I tried to boot from the image loaded on the emmc card, the boot failed. Next I tried to build a more up-to-date image, using: git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/armbian/build cd build ./compile.sh And using the ch…

I am currently using the Armbian 20.02 release and doing some tests with the serial ports of a Pine64-LTS board. I noticed that i could not get all the serial ports to work. I needed to make a couple of changes in order to get them all working. Maybe i did something wrong and my changes were not needed, but i still would like to list them here in order to help other users who are having problems with the serial ports. When first starting up the armbian release i used the armbian-config tool to enable the uart 1, uart 2, uart 3 and uart4. I rebooted but noticed not all ports where present. I noticed a message in the dmesg log showi…
