I suddenly have a need to test Linux 6.11 or greater, because there's a needed improvement in the panel-mipi-dbi-spi driver (thread keyword ili9488) User "The Going" has kindly advised me to try his Armbian branch with Linux 6.12, so I am here sharing results as I test it with my Orange Pi Zero 3. Initial instructions: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/35635-armbian-242-is-broken-on-orange-pi-pc2/#findComment-207980 At first try, I decided to NOT follow this step: armbian/build> egrep '^-' patch/kernel/archive/sunxi-6.12/series.conf (finds all the excluded patches) Well, I continued. Choosing Linux Edge, shallow o…

I will use a orangepi PC2 as openhab server. Arbian 25.2 kernel 6.6.62 minimal.img is installed. The orangepi is connected with an ethernet cable to the router, but is not visible in the list of connected devices. So I suppose he does not make connection. I want to access the orangepi by putty on my PC but as long he is not online, connection is not possible. Led's on the ethernet connector ar flashing. What do I wrong ?

Hello, I have't used my old Cubietruck for years but would like to use it again in a project. I downloaded the new Armbian version: Armbian_community_25.2.0-trunk.124_Cubietruck_noble_current_6.6.62_xfce_desktop.img and installed it. There is console display just fine through HDMI, but not graphical display. There seems to be some trouble before as in this discussion: I downloaded this image: https://github.com/IGNNE/cubietruck-armbian-unofficial/releases/ and it seems to work. But when it updates itself, the graphics is gone again. So - is there some old dr…

Recently I tried to connect CAN bus adapter to my Orange Pi 3 LTS board and it happened that there is not so much information about it, it is outdated or related to other boards. So, after I spent a few days in trials and errors below is my recipe. 1. Connect a CAN interface board. Orange Pi pins are not 5V tolerant, so I decided to use a dedicated 2-channel board from Waveshare: https://www.waveshare.com/2-ch-can-hat.htm (only one channel for the start). You can modify a cheap board from AliExpress though; there are instructions in the Internet. I used the PL10 pin of Orange Pi 3 LTS board as INT pin. Actually first I tried to use the PD21 pin but it seems that…

Hello, I have a new LCD which I believe is an ili4988 (although the vendor says ili9486 and st7796) https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803856059047.html I have read somewhere, that I can use an ili9341 spi driver, only by changing the resolution and changing the initialization script. I looked in the waveshare website and github, they don't have anything for the ili9488 Then, I found some arduino code in http://www.lcdwiki.com/3.5inch_SPI_Module_ILI9488_SKU%3AMSP3520 (look for the "3.5 inch SPI Module Package(ILI9488)" link, then find the LCDWIKI_SPI.cpp The initialization sequence is in line 1697: Spoiler…

Hi, does anyone know where I can find a build for linux 5.1 for my orange pi zero 2w. I would like to use fbtft device, so either finding a pre 5.4 linux build, or building one myself (In that case how so because I failed miserably) or an alternative to fbtft. Thank you very much

Flash 25.2.0 (The Latest Built Dec 01) to a SD card and boot a Orange Pi 3 LTS, Ethernet lost after sudo reboot the board. It did not even come back after physically power off and on. Have anyone experienced the same problem? The same board worked very well with Debian Bullseyes (downloaded from http://www.orangepi.org/html/hardWare/computerAndMicrocontrollers/service-and-support/Orange-pi-3-LTS.html). I googled and found Orange Pi 3B has similar problem. https://www.reddit.com/r/OrangePI/comments/1aojmn3/orange_pi_3b_ethernet_doesnt_work/

Hello Team, We are using H618 Allwinner SoC in which we have requirement to enable secure boot as per requirement. We have already checked couple of documents regarding secure boot enable but tools and scripts are not available to create Keys and other process using which secure boot can be enabled This project is based on the armbian image building system and is suitable for the Debian and Ubuntu image building projects of the Wildfire LubanCat (Luban Cat) Allwinner series boards. We are using allwinner-h618-gentoolinux build for build and development perspective. Let me know if need anything else from my end. …

I had to freeze my device on Kernel 6.1.92 & Bullseye to remain operational. Now trying to update/upgrade to Kernel 6.6.nn I run into following probs: 1) Using Armbian-config defreeze and subsequently switch to kernel 6.6.nn works OK 4me, but subsequent apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104. Armbian-config has changed significantly w/ No other Kernel available. 2) Using Armbian-config defreeze, only and going directly to apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104 as well and from Bullseye back to Buster! Its a mess! Will this eventually be corrected and when? RGDS

Hi, I have a question about distro upgrde. This is the information on welcome screen: Packages: Ubuntu stable (jammy), possible distro upgrade (noble) Support: DIY (community maintained) I checked the release info on https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2e/ and the noble is available. I used sudo apt dist-upgrade and it found no upgrade. Is there any wrong with that? And how I can do the dist-upgrade except writing a new image?

Hello! I could find quite a bit of information about the analog video output for OrangePi Zero 2W on Armbian under Ubuntu. On Android TV-OUT works. Are there any plans to add this feature to Armbian? It is very critical for me. If no one plans to do this now, then I would be extremely grateful for advice from experts on how to port / modify existing drivers, perhaps take something from the AndroidTV 12 code, where the video output works? I am a developer, but I have not previously dealt with driver development for Linux, but if I understand in which direction to act, then using ChatGPT sooner or later I should be able to cope. I would be very grateful for any he…

I am listed as the community maintainer for the Banana Pi M2 Zero. I haven't actually done any maintaining but I am thinking about doing so now. But before I do, a couple of quick questions. 1) The latest build (as far as I can see), is Aug-31st, 2023. Do I have that right? Or am I missing something? 2) The main page for the Banana Pi M2 Zero (https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2-zero/) shows a link to Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.273_Bananapim2zero_bookworm_current_6.6.54_minimal.img.xz which is for "Minimal/IOT images with Armbian Linux v6.6". Since there isn't an Orange Pi Three forum I am going to post it here. Due to python requirements for PiKVM I installed the latest Jammy build. When i did the install everything looked like it worked but I could not get the remote keyboard and mouse to work with the OTG port. I tried changing the dtb but it didn't work. Comments in the kvmd-armbian discord channel recommended trying a different kernel. After trial and error I found OTG worked with kernel 6.10.9-edge-sunxi64 and remote keyboard and mouse functioned. With the default 6.6 kernel the ethernet port didn't work, but wireless worked. I was also able to get my mt7921u USB wireless adapter to work. In 6.10.9 the …

Hello! I've downloaded the current images for BananaPi M1 offered in the site, as "Community Maintained" builds, but none of them is capable of producing video output from HDMI nor composite video. Both the Ubuntu jammy and Debian12 versions lose the video output as soon as the kernel starts to load, after the u-boot screen. I tried the desktop and server images, without any luck. With the older 5.x kernel, the ubuntu-jammy image that I've downloaded before loads fine. I know it's an old board, but it still gives me some amusement time tinkering with it and playing retro games. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Thanks!

Which is the correct overlay to specify for libcamera support for the Arducam IMX219? I am assuming this would go into /boot/armbianEnv.txt ? The packages libcamera0.3 libcamera-tools libcamera-v4l2 installed properly, however, all examples on the net apply to PIs and not the OrangePiZero... Thanks in advance.

I want to use GPIO Pi16 on the 13 pin expansion header of the board. This pin is claimed by the kernel for the ethernet MAC. According to the SOC Datasheet this pin has the option to provide a 25 MHz clock signal for the ethernet MAC, which is not relevant for this board. Good morning, I am having some problems with the i2c-1 bus, as it sometimes gets stuck even though I have external pull-up resistors. I need to be able to reset the bus to fix it and check the status of the channels, but I don’t know which Linux GPIO corresponds to the physical pins that the kernel associates with PA18 and PA19. I have tried using wiringPi, but it doesn’t indicate this. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

I've tinkering with this board, and trying to boot from spl, but the boot halts after reading the temperature sensors, which does not happen when booting from the sd card. I want to completely disable display subsystem on Orange Pi Zero LTS (Debian 12 (Bookworm) minimal/IoT build 1 oct 2024). I'm testing different firmware versions for OrangePi 3 LTS a bit and I have to mention that version: Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.202_Orangepi3-lts_noble_current_6.6.44_gnome-kisak_desktop.img It has a flaw that can cause some trouble for beginners, i.e. after installing, the system automatically goes to the suspend option after 15 minutes 🙂 Disabling the suspend option completely helps, but it then prevents you from using the suspend option by clicking the button on the board 🙂 This is probably an error related to both battery and mains power supply. https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/gnome-suspends-after-15-minutes-of-user-inactivity-even-on-…

Hi, I have problems with NanoPi NEO on Allwinner H3 due to sudden sporadic Linux kernel overheating shut down. I'm using the Linux kernel 4.14 on Debian Trixie. "iotop" shows all processes <1%. And when measuring the chips, all are cool at below 40°C It looks like the CPU suddenly get into a hot-state above 80°C, because it stays there for hours independent from the process load. Hello, I'm a lay user, I don't know much about Armbian and networks - On my network I have a router whose default DNS is set to point to an OrangePI 3 lts with Armbian 23.02, where I installed AdGuard (v0.107.52) and created my rules to filter advertisements through URLs that I access through the web browser of any device. It works almost 100% as I would like - I use a NO-IP DDNS on the router to access the surveillance DVR and I can see the cameras fine on my smartphone. However, when there is a power outage and then it comes back on, there is often some kind of synchronization failure between the router and the OrangePI to access…

I believe that ethernet adaptor is not working properly because there's only one led blinking and its unable to receive ip address. I have tried to configure it with yaml files and manually with networkd and with static ip. I also tried to run dhcp on that interface and it received random ip outside of my network. Had no luck with network-manager either, it threw an error "ip configuration could not be reserved" With desktop image ethernet worked with no problem. So maybe there's a driver issue?

Hi you all. I'm trying for a couple of day now to solve an annoying problem with the USB and some Bananapi M2 zeros. I have two cluster-hats with 4 Bananapi M2 zeros as nodes. The cluster hat presents itself as a USB gadget (USB ethernet interface) to the nodes allowing networking between the controller and the nodes. The nodes work fine with kernel 5.9.8, the modules identify the hat as a network interface and everything works as expected. My trouble is that I'm creating new images for the nodes (bananapi m2 zero) from here, the nodes boots, but it seems like the OTG port is not behaving as expected. Followed instructions from these posts:…

I have a question for more experienced users. Quite a long time ago I built an internet radio based on OrangePi Lite + DAC I think in the I2S interface with the module: PCM5102 ... PCM5102 DAC Decoder I2S -Aliexpress unfortunately the board broke down. I have another model, the aforementioned Pi 3 lts but it seems to be less supported. Can I connect the above-mentioned PCM5102 module to this model? Or maybe buy some other supported model that will work just as well as Pi lite with this DAC model or another? Ps. it would be nice if it had the ability to upload Armbian firmware to emmc flash memory I installed Armbian/Ubuntu on Pi3lts but I get some erro…

Hello, I have a fully working customized Armbian on OrangePi PC Plus. There are two partitions, one for the rootfs, second mounted as /home I want to convert the root partition to squashfs, and use the squashfs file to boot from. I already converted the root partition to squashfs file, I can mount squashfs file, and the contents are correct. I even tried to mount it via fstab and it works. I searched everywhere, obviosly not enough, but I cannot find a way to boot directly from the squashfs file. The idea is to have only squashfs file and rw partition for /home Please, can somebody help me, or point me to the right instructions ?

I have recently been trying to get my spi ili9341 working under kernel 6.6, having gotten it working previously. I checked to ensure there were no changes in the overlay required by the newer kernel. Think I must have missed something I swapped out my SD card for another using an image based on kernel 5.15.88, where I was able to recieve a display. Looking back over the dmesg log, I noticed a slight difference in behaviour with the older kernel. firstly we can clearly see that the SPI driver is requesting to use gpio 34 as…

I have this link for previous builds: https://armbian.hosthatch.com/archive/orangepizero/archive/ Is there a way of knowing when standard support stopped and community support started etc? Thanks!

Hello, I've got some problems with a Cubietruck. First thing to state is that the com-port apparently has died. It was connected via a USB-converter 3,3v and worked flawlessly for a long time. I replaced it with a new one but no go. In the beginning no problem, I could use SSH. Second thing is that the hard disk became erroneous. I bought a bigger model but no boot. I thought that the UUID-entry in /etc/fstab caused this and changed it via tune2fs to the old one, but still no boot. Thus I could no longer use SSH! And I cannot mount the old harddisk, it's to erroneous! Third thing is that I tried with a new image, and the cubie seems to fina…

Hello, I am very sorry that I have to leave the Armbian flock, but the Dietpi-Distro is so much better. It simply boots off the SD-Card on my NanoPi NeoCore and the darned Ethernet simply works; also the DTB overlay files work, so the additional I2C and UART hardware works in Dietpi. And the kernel is 6.x too ! However, the NanoPi Neocore is shipped with an outdated Armbian (using Kernel 4.x) on EMMC. What I now want is to replace the prepared EMMC Armbian distro with whatever is on my SD-Card, but this task is more difficult than I tought. What I would need is to simply copy the whole SD-Card to EMMC, but the recommended "dd if='sdcard...' of='emmc...'...." co…

I've had an Orange Pi 3 LTS for a couple of months now. I bought it for use as a home theater tv box. I thought I'd use the official orange pi ubuntu release, but it turned out to be really outdated and broken. So I have been trying to get Armbian to work. After a lot of troubleshooting and time spent reading docs and forums, I can't get the thing to play video properly. It plays but is terrible quality and stutters constantly. I've determined that panfrost is working. In orangepi-config, under Hardware, it says the GPU is enabled. But when I run glmark2 I get a score of 100 or less no matter what I do. I've tried old builds of armbian for the pi 3 lts and the…

I'm trying to setup a GPS-based time server on an Orange PI Zero 3, running Armbian 24.8.0-trunk.495, kernel 6.6.43-current-sunxi64. I have the exact same hardware setup working fine on a RaspberryPI 4b, running RPI OS / Debian 11 (bullseye) , kernel 6.1.21-v8+ #1642. On the RPI4, gpsd recognises the (cheap chinese "M8N") GPS module as u-blox and keeps working in a stable way root@rpi4:~# gpsctl /dev/ttyS0 /dev/ttyS0 identified as a u-blox SW ROM CORE 3.01 (107888),HW 00080000 at 9600 baud. the /boot/config.txt has these two lines for the UART config enable_uart=1 init_uart_baud=9600 On the OPIZ3 I configured /boot/armbianEnv.txt for UART5…

Hi, I am trying to get a led matrix to work via the SPI interface but cannot get it to work. I have enabled the interface and have an spi-device under /dev and there is a spi-module loaded. I configured my opi to work as a composite usb gadget (mouse and rndis). Everything works, but the actual refresh rate of the mouse was 250 Hz. I tried to configure bInterval, which is responsible for the device update frequency, this could only be done by rebuilding the kernel with bInterval changes in the high-speed descriptor structures from 4 to 1 in the file drivers/usb/gadget/function/f_hid.c. It had an effect. But the frequency only rose to 500 Hz. I tried to find what could limit this, I looked in drivers/usb/dwc2/gadget.c and also in composite.c but I couldn’t find anything. Now I don’t know where to look next or i missed sth.. drivers/usb/gadget/func…

I built an image for the `orangepi-z-2w` via `./compile.sh build BOARD=orangepizero2w BRANCH=current BUILD_DESKTOP=no BUILD_MINIMAL=no KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no RELEASE=bookworm`. Some notes: - I've been using `Armbian_24.2.6_Orangepizero2w_bookworm_current_6.6.28.img.xz` in the past (downloaded from armbian.com), and the wifi works just fine.

I've seen this question asked quite frequently here and all the posts end before there is a solution. I think it's time we had a crystal clear discussion on how it can be done. Not just for my curiosity, but for the people who've asked before and for the people who will ask in the future. The reason: Many hats/shields designed for RaspberryPi would otherwise be compatible with OrangePi if Armbian/u-boot didn't direct the debug output to UART0. UART0 is the most commonly used serial connection for hats/shields designed for RaspberryPi. OrangePi has multiple UART gpio so it would make sense for the O.S. (Armbian) to use the one that least impacts the…

The orangepizero is powered by a 3A power supply under UPS and properly cooled, if I use the latest release on a new SD it works perfectly, so I think it is not a hardware problem. The SD with Armbian 23.02.2 is not corrupted and I can read every part of it. Does anyone know any tricks to get it running again?

Hi. I would like to know if someone can help me. I was successfully able to compile armbian 6.6.30 with all of @Stephen Graf patches for my orangepi zero 3 having Full Audio working even on HDMI. see below for reference. Now I have a 2nd project. It runs the h616 with 2GB DDR3 RAM with AXP313. Can someone help me with a patch for the AXP313 on h616. Or alternatively, could my h618 orangepi zero 3 setup work if I patch it to run with DDR3? If so where can I find such a patch. Thanks in advance.

Hi, the Armbian_community_24.5.0-trunk.563_Bananapi_jammy_current_6.6.30_xfce_desktop.img shows black screen after going to the desktop GUI (the LCD panel shows "no signal").. PS: The Armbian_23.11.1_Bananapi_jammy_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img after an update/upgrade shows black screen after going to the desktop GUI (the LCD panel shows "no signal") as well.. The Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Bananapi_bullseye_edge_5.19.6_xfce_desktop.img Armbian_23.8.2_Bananapi_jammy_current_6.1.51_xfce_desktop.img Armbian_23.11.1_Bananapi_jammy_current_6.1.63_xfce_desktop.img work.

Good afternoon. I don't know how to solve a small problem. There is Orange Pi Lite. It runs its own program. The program uses spi-dev and display. You need to compile drivers for the network card. And then a problem arose. I cannot install linux-headers-current-sunxi on a working distribution (the latest one available on the website Armbian_23.02.2 5.15.93 ). And if you set “Community maintained”, then it is impossible to enable spi-dev and the display (Arbian-Config is missing in the repository) How to solve this problem?

Hello Armbian community, Firstly, thank you for the amazing work that you do. Having Armbian has made the setup process so simple, and I really appreciate that I'm completely new to the world of SBCs and Armbian (but not Linux), and this issue had me stumped for a long time. I wanted to share the solution for those who are in the same position as me, as I only found this on Raspberry Pi resources. Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere in the forums - my searches didn't show any answers from here, and additionally, I keep getting time-locked (forced to wait 30sec) for every forum search. The model of OPI I have is the Orange Pi Zero 2…
