  1. Hi there!!! LTNS. Not pretending to ask for a solution. Just curious, what am I doing wrong, after a decade with Armbian. ;) A new Chinese board with RK3567, quite similar to kickPi. Boots up to "INFO: BL31: Initializing BL32" then hangs. Changing DTB in armbianEnv.txt does nothing, same is for verbosity. I guess there's some pre-DTB in uboot, as I recall, this is common with RK chips. And it seems to not match my hardware. Any reasonable way to fix, before i rebuild the whole image? Thanks in advance!

  2. @prahal There are two versions of the bootloader in the repository (edge and current). I just tried the current u-boot from the repository. It works but dmesg outputs seven of the following messages: [ 9.674633] rockchip-i2s ff8a0000.i2s: Could not register PCM This note mentions that such error messages could mean that DMA and sound are missing in the linux kernel, could this be ignored ? P.S.: Those messages are not thrown if the recommended bootloader (linux-u-boot-edge-helios64_22.02.1_arm64) is flashed to emmc.

Building Jammy works fine, but if I select Kineic for example using this ./compile.sh BOARD=rock-5b BRANCH=legacy RELEASE=kinetic COMPRESS_OUTPUTIMAGE=img KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no BUILD_MINIMAL=no BUILD_DESKTOP=no it fails in this way [🌱] Installing base system with 5 packages [ Stage 1/2 ] [🔨] E: No such script: /usr/share/debootstrap/scripts/kinetic [💥] error! [ Debootstrap first stage failed kinetic no ] Now I re-fetched a new Armbian git but the problem remains. Why?

  4. my Helios64 Board is now so unstable -- it on its own isn't worth putting in more of my time... but the rest of the NAS system "seems" fine -- so is there anything I can replace the logic board with ?? are there any "working" boards to be purchased anywhere? I've looked all over and the board "seems" close to the tinkerboard but I don't think it is one. I believe that it was a custom build. anyone else just try to replace the board and move on? Hello. I have not been able to make the ethernet port working on a MKS Pi board with the latest armbian image found here : https://www.armbian.com/mks-pi/ I don't even get a link led ON on the ethernet connector when connected. Can anyone offer guidance? Thanks! P.S. I could not find a MKS-PI tag in the tag menu to identify this thread correctly. Can anyone fix this?

  6. Started by JSF,

I see the latest images for the Rock64 are marked as desktop. I am looking for a lightweight server only version. I still have an older server version that I downloaded a while ago, specifically 5.59. If I install 5.59, can I do and apt-get update/apt-get upgrade to get to the latest version? Any issues with that approach? Thanks!

  7. Hi everybody, I am currently facing some struggles with the nanoPC-T4 recently bought to run armbian. When I got the board, I was able to run android default installed OS, but also armbian from a SD card. But along the way, I decided to install armbian on an NVMe SSD memory to prevent running the OS from the SD card, anyway ... That when I started playing to with the kernel build, u-boot, flashing the emmc etc .. I tried couple of times using the rockchip tool : developtool in MASKROM to play with the EMMC because I couldn't boot from the SD card, and wanted to start with a clean emmc, but every time the tool had to execute a libusb_bulk_transfer, …

The man-setup() call initialzes the board with the following if statement in the setup() function in gpio.cpp if((uint64_t)gpio_mem % PAGE_SIZE) and the this->gpioMap = statement that uses SUNXI_GPIO_BASE In the example code, I initialize the pin with man->pinMode (PI_GPIO_24, OUTPUT); The pinMode function in gpio.cpp, launches _setPullupdn with gpio=78 and pud = 1. The previous version Armbian_23.11.1_Panther-x2_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz works normally on my panther device. The new version and minimal iot version do not boot at all. 19. Curious if anybody else with tick-stop error? Not certain if this applies; the only change is installing Docker and Pi-Hole containerized. A quick read seems related to a soft interrupt of 8; - The only solution I could find by googling; is: "Add nohz=off to the kernel parameters during boot to disable it." Can I safely ignore this error message; or should I do this nohz=off to the kernel parms?

  20. Like the title says, when I open armbian-config on my brand new NanoPi M4N2 I don't see a "Hardware" entry in the menu... is this expected? Only reason I wanted to access is to ensure I disable WiFi as I am only using Ethernet. For the record, I'm powering it with a 5V 4A PoE adapter, using a Samsung SD-card flashed with Armbian_20.05.7_Nanopim4v2_buster_current_5.4.49.img. I'm using a 256GB Sabrent M.2 NVME SSD as the main disk (configured via armbian-config), so the SSD card is for initial booting only.

  27. I just bought a FriendlyElec NanoPi Neo4 having had loads of experience with Armbian on Allwinner (OrangePi) boards. My preferred method for getting boards "up and running" is simply to connect a serial terminal to the debug port and power on. 30. @Contributor/Maintainer AR-1172 - fix complete 08 May 2022 There is was a bug in the 5.15, 5.16 and 5.17 kernel r8152 driver that affected RTL8153b Gigabit USB Ethernet (LAN0) on the Orange Pi R1plus LTS and other boards. The bug only presents on high load and I can trigger it reliably with bidirectional high load on Orange Pi R1plus LTS. The bug kills the RX interface and it requires power down to reset. I assume that it also affects the Orange Pi R1plus, and there are reports of it affecting NanoPi R2S. I would assume that other boards could be impacted. My proposed fix is to revert the driver back to the version used in 5.10 kernel (and to disa…

  32. I have the newest Armbian 28.08.0-trunk image running on a NanoPi R6C with a 4TB NVMe SSD. The NanoPi is only connected to power and 1G ethernet via the 1G WAN port. When using the machine as NAS with Samba and a Windows client connected there is a strange problem when receiving large files. The files are stored on the NVMe SSD with ~450MB/s read/write via PCIe 2.1x1. When transmitting files from the NanoPi to a SMB client the 1G ethernet is maxed out but when receiving files the connection drops down to ~60 MB/s every few seconds. This instantly gets fixed when using the 2.5G LAN port instead of the 1G WAN port. On that po…

Can someone please help me understand how Armbian for Rock64 is developed? In the past, there was an image for the Rock64 that was a server image, not a desktop image. Now, I see Ubuntu and a Debian Stretch desktop images, no server image. Is there a plan to build a server image going forward? Also, will a newer kernel be built at some point? Not trying to stir the pot or cause trouble, just trying to understand where the Rock64 support is going in the future. Thank you for all the spectacular work the Armbian team does.

I'm trying to enable i2c3 on my orange pi 5b, according to the user manual, i2c is disabled on the 26 header pins by default, and to enable them, you need to edit the /boot/orangepiEnv.txt file, however, my orange pi doesn't have that file. Hello, Some weeks ago, I installed the "under development" version. File was named Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Odroidm1_kinetic_edge_6.1.0-rc5.img.xz Now, I see that the "advertised" version is a rolling release armbian 22.11 Jammy. Based on this (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases) page kinetic is an earlier version than jammy. If I scroll down the page ( https://www.armbian.com/odroid-m1/ ) , I see a kinetic rolling weekly release. I suspect that the kinetic is an unstabled release while Jammy 22.11 is. Please can you confirm/explain? If yes, is there a way to "downgrade" to the stable version? Thanks …

  56. I have a weird issue where I have everything working as I want it a few different services running in docker (Pi-Hole, Motioneye, Home Assistant, Emby) and all their individual management pages are accessible. However as soon as i move the install over to emmc, all networking seems to break, with services no longer working, but some admin pages report everything is fine. Pi-Hole for example shows as running but no devices accessing the dns cant load webpages and the pi-hole management pages stop showing any further queries received. ive repeated the process of doing a clean install to sd , everything fine. move to emmc stops working ☹️

  57. Hi! My Orange Pi 5 (no Pro, no Plus, no B…) was running Armbian, the Debian Bullseye flavour. It was running Linux `5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588`, then I installed the `linux-image-current-rockchip-rk3588` metapackage, which pulled and installed Linux `6.10.6-current-rockchip-rk3588`. Right after having installed such kernel, I tried to reboot the device, but the device never rebooted: it's just stuck at startup, nothings is displayed on screen and the device is not available on the network (doesn't do any DHCP request at all). I fully unplugged anything from the board, including removing and re-inserting the microSD card. The device now refuses to boot since I up…

  58. First of all thanks to the people maintaining armbian for helios64. I recently upgraded (well I reinstalled) to trixie and everything mostly runs stable for me. However I have a problem with the 2.5GB adapter. It is connected to a 2.5GB switch and when for example running iperf3 I get proper results close to 2.5 GBit. So in general it seems to be running ok. I have a DLNA server (minidlna) running on that machine and when I stream from my TV (streaming via VLC from my laptop triggers the same problems) the network connection drops for a moment and works again after a few seconds (which you can guess is super annoying when watching something). I am not sure wha…

First time user here. I got a Rock64 board and flashed Armbian_20.08.1_Rock64_focal_current_5.8.6_desktop.img using Etcher to an SD card. When I try to boot, nothing happens. If I examine the SD card on my Linux PC, there is only one partition on it and it appears to be a kernel image. I assumed that the .img file would have the U-Boot partition as well. Is there a different type of image file I should be using that would contain everything that I need to boot? If not, how do I create such an image?

  62. Hi, I have tried multiple Rock Pi 4+ (Plus) boards, all of them run regular Debian well, so the hardware should be good. But when I tried Armbian, the 2 USB 3.0 ports were not working with logitech USB dongle or Samsung USB drives (which did work in regular Debian), I searched and found maybe they were in OTG mode and needed to be in HOST mode. I tried armbian-config then System -> Hardware, then enabled: dwc3-0-host rockpi4cplus-usb-host After reboot, the bottom USB 3.0 port would start working, yet the top one still wouldn't work. Otherwise, Armbian was the most user-friendly, fast and stable…

  67. Hallo, I've been using Armbian on the NanoPi M4 V2 for a while and now I'm thinking about switchen from the legacy kernel to the current kernel. Unfortunately that's not so easy to do when using armbian-config. You could think you can just select the current-kernel in the list but you won't find it there. The reason is simple: the legacy kernel belongs to the rk3399-family and the current kernel is rockchip64. Which is basically the same, but from an organisational point of view it is not (please forgive me if I do not show an adequate technical precision here, the details and the plan to clean that up are explained here). I took a long time to understand I have to press the recovery button during a "long time", then release it very quickly to get the UMS mode and not falling into the Maskrom mode. However, it seems that the usb_storage.quirks string is limited to 127 chars! dmesg shows: usb_storage.quirks: string doesn't fit in 127 chars I do not really see the point of limiting the string length to 127 chars..a bit more would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello, is it possible to install WiringPi on Rock Pi 4? I tried to install WiringX using the instructions on https://github.com/wiringX/wiringX , but after installing it the command "gpio" is not present. Any hint on how to get "gpio" command on Rock Pi 4? Thanks
