  1. Hello I have installed Armbian 24.2.3 Bookworm with Linux 5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx on Orange Pi 5 plus with 32 Gb ram and mounted a heatsink with a fan on the CPU (this model: http://www.orangepi.org/html/hardWare/computerAndMicrocontrollers/details/Cooling-Fan.html) I need help configuring the fan to turn on when the CPU temperature reaches 60°C and turn off when it reaches 50°C. Can you provide instructions on how to do this? Thanks for help or support

  2. Hi all. Some time ago, in the release notes of a past Armbian version, I remember reading that the network LED should now be enabled by default and associated with eth0. Despite always keeping my Helios64 as up-to-date as possible, mine never lit up, but I didn't think much of it. Today I decided to investigate why, and I'm not sure where to go from here. First things first, the LED works, it's not a hardware issue. I can echo 1 and 0 to the LED path (/sys/class/leds/helios64:blue:net/brightness) and it lights on and off as expected. From what I can tell, this LED, along with the heartbeat one, is enabled by the Systemd unit helios64-hear…

  3. I apologize in advance if I wrote to the wrong branch. Dear community, a question about OrangePi 5B (board without SPI-flash!). There is only an eMMC on the device. The computer is successfully running on the OS from the Orangepi website, recorded both on the SD card (Baleno Ether) and with eMMC (MaskROM+RKdevtool). At the same time, I see the devices themselves and their partitions, SD card and/or eMMC. The Armbian OS for OrangePi 5/5B/5 Plus (CLI or GUI) written to the SD card loads and works, BUT disk commands DO NOT SEE eMMC, only SD card partitions. In Armbian-config, there is only the Insatall/Update bootloader on SD/eMMC item, which does not change anything. If …

  5. Started by Kilo,

Hi, I'm wondering if the NanoPi M4 can be made to work with a PiTFT 320x240 screen? When I set up the /dev/fb0 device and write to it, the display simply stays black/white (each time I write to the display only the shades change). NanoPi M4 has a different GPIO set-up from Raspberry Pi 3b+ (which PiTFT works with). Is there a possibility that the NanoPi M4's GPIO could be rewired in a way that it would support the PiTFT? E.g. Tinkerboard runs under RK3288 (vs M4's RK3399) and has the same GPIO layout as the RPi 3B+, so it could maybe be made possible?

  6. Started by Zykr,

Not sure if this is the place for this since it isn't really a software issue, but... So I decided to take apart my Helios64 to apply the 2.5Gb/1Gb Ethernet fix and things went badly. I ended up accidentally destroying the 402 caps on one of the SATA ports by scrapping the board against the standoffs as I was pulling it out of the case. As far as I can tell, they should be part of the SATA standard, 10nF DC blocking caps, so I have a rough idea of what they might have been but I don't know for sure since they are simply gone. Does anyone happen to know what those caps were or have access to a circuit diagram or BOM I could referenc…

  8. Started by MikrySoft,

I have a strange problem with my R2S. I grabbed latest buster and focal images, burned them using Balena Etcher onto a pair of 32GB SanDisk Extreme Cards and neither is booting. Serial console shows that boot process gives up waiting for root file system and drops me into initramfs shell. Looking into /dev, I see no mmcblk0 device (or any other block device apart from loops). If I now eject and re-insert the card, the device shows up. If I do it during boot process, while the board is still waiting for rootfs, boot process continues correctly. Reboots are fine, but if I unplug the board for longer than a second it's back to initramfs for me. …

  9. I have Rock64 board with latest Armbian Focal flashed on it. I want to use it with this HDMI display by Waveshare: https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7inch_HDMI_LCD_(H)_(with_case) Now, when I connect it to Rock64 it runs as 1080p downscaled by HDMI controller on display, resulted image is garbage, even though it is present. As was discussed here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/10071-tinker-board-hdmi-resolutions-do-not-all-work/ current kernel/u-boot doesn't have required video mode to run this display properly. I tried to set required mode with xrandr but with no success. Can anyone help me to figure out how to patch kernel/u-boot to get this thing work properl…

  20. Hi ! I spent several hours looking for the solution, here and elsewhere, I didn't find. The Radxa wiki speaks about 2 SPI: 1 and 2 The device tree README speaks about 4 SPI: SPI 0 pins (MOSI, MISO, SCK, CS): GPIO3_A5, GPIO3_A4, GPIO3_A6, GPIO3_A7 SPI 1 pins (MOSI, MISO, SCK, CS): GPIO1_A7, GPIO1_B0, GPIO1_B1, GPIO1_B2 SPI 2 pins (MOSI, MISO, SCK, CS): GPIO1_C0, GPIO1_B7, GPIO1_C1, GPIO1_C2 SPI 3 pins (MOSI, MISO, SCK, CS): GPIO2_B2, GPIO2_B1, GPIO2_B3, GPIO2_B4 So, the correspondence seems to be: radxa SPI 1 <=> DT SPI 1 radxa SPI2 <=> DT SPI 3 With the latest kernel (5.10.12-rockchip64, Deb…

  24. Hi there, I'm using the latest version of armbian to run the linuxptp for the ieee1588v2 clock. When I check the timestamp status, the 1Gbps port which is the RTL8122 is no problem, but the 2.5G ports RTL8125BG are only supporting the software timestamp. However, when I checked the Realtek website, it says that the 8125BG also supports the IEEE1588 clock. I tried to install the driver, but it did not work. As a beginner in Linux, I probably don't have the knowledge to compile drivers, in this case I sincerely hope that armbian could officially support the hw ptp timestamp in 8125 NIC. I'm a complete noob to compiling kernels and have been struggling (and failing) for the past week to get an RT kernel compiled using Armbian build and reading various threads in the forum. Is it even possible? If so, what config options need to be set to get the correct kernel version matching the available rt patches? Thanks!

  52. Hi, I'm using a bananaPI m5 pro SBC with a rk3576 CPU and built-in emmc and linaro OS. I'd like to install minimal/IOT images using Armbian Linux v6.1. I went through all of the banana PI docs, but none of them contained any useful information about installing the OS and booting from SD cards. Can someone help me with this?

Hi, everyone. The Kobo site is kind of difficult to navigate if you're looking for relevant information, but I came to the conclusion that this is the right place for support. Forgive me if I'm mistaken. I was wondering if someone could help me interpret these bootlogs from serial term when trying to boot my Helios64 from the EMMC. Following the instructions on Kobol's site, I flashed their u-boot image to an sd card, booted the Helios64 off of said sd, fetched the latest image of Armbian, unpacked that image, and flashed it from my laptop to the Helios64 via usbc to what I presume is the correct interface. Could it be that I messed up? Here's a quick example …

When comparing network speeds on the orange pi 3b 8gb model using armbian (Jammy Gnome 6.8.2) and Opios (aarch64-xfce-opi3b-23.08.1-linux5.10.160), there seems to be an issue with uploads on armbian. Using iperf3 for testing, the results were as follows: For orange pi os (arch): From other device (server) to orange pi 3b (client): 112mb/s From orange pi 3b (server) to other device (client): 112mb/s For armbian: From other device (server) to orange pi 3b (client): 112mb/s From orange pi 3b (server) to other device (client): 42mb/s I would like to know the cause of this problem and how to solve it.

Hello, we have a strange thing here. Since ... (I don't remember), the tray number 2 is not working. We tried with 3 different disks but each of them, when inserted in tray n2, aren't start. Why ? And how to fix that ? Thank you. PS: other trays (n1, n3, n4, n5) are ok.

I have completed a build for the turing-rk1 SBC with an aim toward getting a functioning graphical console, and possibly installing desktop packages later. I built an image without issue that picked up kernel 6.17.2. git commit: 09160da3b9c1231cf20837e8c857f7e605130449 main branch Command used: ./compile.sh RELEASE=trixie CARD=turing-rk1 BRANCH=edge Image created: Armbian-unofficial_25.11.0-trunk_Turing-rk1_trixie_edge_6.17.2.img When booted, I get an error from dmesg about VOP drivers and HDMI video does not turn on. Is this normal for this board or am I doing something wrong? [ 0.965616] rckchip-drm display-subsystem: [drm:rockchip_d…

Looked at a lot of other forums posts and it seems to be a common problem for the Orange pi 5B, but all the solutions i've tried hasn't worked. Most of the problems they seemed to have is not updating the armbianEnv.txt to include the "b" for this specific model from the opi 5. Below is the error message I always get whenever trying to boot from the EMMC. Using 6.1 kernel sometimes I can't see the EMMC in /dev, after installing the orange pi Ubuntu image I can see it. After I run armbian-install I can't see it in /dev. I put the orange pi image back on the sd card and I can see the EMMC was installed, the boot/armbianEnv.txt also does have the "b". …

Current issues with Armbian board support: -U-Boot problems (various) Solutions so far: - fix the method of generating idbloader.bin. <--- update: the "release" and "mainline-master" behave significantly differently. Mainline-master behaves as it should as far as writing the bootloader. Release does not.
