It does not matter which of the lastest Images I am downloading for the NanoPC T4, none of them is showing any sign of boot sequence. I flashed the images with balena etcher to the SD-Card before. I thought writing the image with etcher to SD-Card is all I need to do. My old system Shaitan with OMV is booting from SD-Card witout any issue. I have no idea, why none of the newer Images escpecially for the NanoPC T4 is not booting at all. Does someone has any idea?

I installed Armbian on my R5s Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Kernel 6.5, Size: 479Mb, Release date: Sep 18, 2023 On this version, I find the classical problem : a module I want to build does not build. Reason ? apt says : Coundn’t find any package by glob ‘linux-headers-6.5.3-edge-odroid’ And make creates an error because “build” directory is not found. I can find the linux-headers-6.5.3 : https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v6.x/linux-6.5.3.tar.gz But where can I find the odroid version ?

I have a nanopi m4 and I want to use the /dev/ttyS4 (UART4) for communication, but only the RX is working, and the TX does not, but when I set the GPIO nr. 40 (the TX pin) to output through sysfs I can change the voltage level from high to low and back... Please help, what am I missing here, that I can not transmit anything ? I am using the latest friendlycore.

I have a jammy Armbian install on one of the (really) new IndieDroid Nova devices. I have changed /etc/gdm3/custom.conf, setting AllowRoot=true and /etc/pam.d/gdm-password, disable root quiet setting. Typical of what you do for Debian to enable explicit user/password input of the Gnome greeter. But with Armbian jammy, I still only get the default 'ttt' user forced on me, and the only value I can enter is the password for ttt. How to get the user list to appear so I can select ANY user and enter the password?

I have a rock 4b+ and I used it as an android box for a while. Then today I tried to flash it with latest armbian image (23.8.1) and it does not boot in microSD or when I flash it through USB OTG. I have erased the SPI flash completely and install the correct spi_loader. It also boots properly with Radxa debian image. Initially I though this is a boot issue, but after checking with a serial cable, it turns out this is a HDMI issue.. After I finish the usual procedure to setup password etc... I got this: Now starting desktop environment... root@rockpi-4b:~# [ 633.211385] hdmi-audio-codec hdmi-audio-codec.5.auto: Only one simultaneous stream su…

I'm working on enabling secure boot on Orange Pi 4B. So far I was able to burn eFuses, sign rk loader, a trust image, and a uboot image. To extend secure boot chain to the Linux Kernel, I've enabled FIT_SIGNATURE in u-boot, and manually built FIT image (Linux Kernel, initramfs(initrd), and a kernel DTB). Now I want to add FIT image creation to the Armbian build system. What is the correct place/script to do it?

Hi there, So I'm having a problem connecting the helios to the router. I try different lan cables and different ports. It was working everything fine yesterday, I did a reboot and no more connection. I'm completely new to this. I was installing home assistance and plex before this happened but I believe I didn't mess with anything to do with network. Don't know what I might have done. I can connect to helios via putty and after logging in the part where ip should be there is none. Any advise would be most appreciated. Again I'm completely new to this.

I upgraded from my own-compiled Armbian kernel 6.8.0-rc5 to 6.8.4 and there are now very annoying stall when for example I drag a KDE Konsole window. Also when I play a 1080p50 HEVC video, as son as a move the mouse, the whole video stalls. Besides 6.8.0-rc5, the normal apt provide 6.8.1-edge-rockchip-rk3588 also works OK. 6.8.5 has the same issue as 6.8.4. As indicated, I use KDE, X11, compositor disabled. Enabled makes no difference. OS base is Armbian Bookworm, but I have also used kernels 6.8.1 and 6.8.4 with a rootfs copied from an RaspberryPiOS and Opensuse-Tumbleweed. RPiOs is also Debian Bookworm, Tumbleweed is latest, KDE6. So it is not KD…

Hello, I had a NanoPi M4v2 running 5.10.63 (buster) for a while without issue. Both I2C and SPI were working perfectly fine and the system was stable. Today apt updated the kernel to 5.15.25 and it broke multiple things, the first issue was that the network wasn't working properly, yellow light but not green one / no IP requested from the local DHCP server. The overlays on this system were: overlays=dwc3-0-host i2c7 i2c8 spi-spidev overlays=dwc3-0-host i2c7 i2c8 spi-spidev I connected the eMMC moule to a card reader and removed the overlays one by one and found out that `i2c8` was breaking my boot / network: overl…

@prahal There are two versions of the bootloader in the repository (edge and current). I just tried the current u-boot from the repository. It works but dmesg outputs seven of the following messages: [ 9.674633] rockchip-i2s ff8a0000.i2s: Could not register PCM This note mentions that such error messages could mean that DMA and sound are missing in the linux kernel, could this be ignored ? P.S.: Those messages are not thrown if the recommended bootloader (linux-u-boot-edge-helios64_22.02.1_arm64) is flashed to emmc.

Hi, I have troubled to set an u-boot environment variable of NanopiM4V2. I have tried changing the rootdelay parameter by making /etc/fw_env.config file. However, I don't know how to get the number I have to write in it. NanopiM4V2 is booted from microSD card. ("cat /proc/mtd" is none) If anyone know how to set the /etc/fw_env.config file with booting from microSD card??

Would it be easy to port Armbian on the Pipo M6 Pro and integrate additional device drivers to provide support for the touchscreen, the front and back camera and the sound? https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Pipo-M6Pro-GPS-Android-4-2-RK3188-Quad-Core-1-6GHz-Tablet-PC-9-7-inch-Retina-Capacitive-Touch-Screen-2048-1536-2GB-16GB-319264.html Is this something feasible in the first place? I had one OPi5 setup and working properly with one of my TVs. I was running Kodi and using the remote from my TV to control Kodi using HDMI-CEC. I went to setup a second one on another TV but this time the TV remote did not work properly. Through elimination I came to determine the HDMI cable was the issue. I ordered another HDMI cable that had the Ferrite at each side of the cable. Now it worked properly. Thought this might be useful for others. This is the cable I ordered: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B003PDHJ6M Conclusion: In order to make HDMI-CEC work properly, make sure the HDMI cable is of sufficient quality. I think ones with the Ferrite may be b…

We are evaluating many boards for Industrial purpose, often fails to pick the right one, form Raspberry PI to other boards, including Tinkerboard. We aim to bring the cost of the SBC to 60 to 100 USD, mainly used for Industrial, within 0-70 Deg C. In fact, I have posted similar questions to find out answers, including Rock64, Olimex etc. Olimex seems to be supporting Industrial temperature, but their A64 seems to have less USB ports. Many SBCs vendor advertise their board for Education, Hobby purpose, I see Nano PC boards, they advertise for robotics, Industrial purpose http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_M4 with WIKI stating worki…

Hey folks, So here's the setup I have: I have an Orange Pi 4B running the Orange Pi 4 image and kernel 5.6.17-rockchip64. I have an Orange Pi 4 running the Orange Pi RK3399 image and kernel 5.4.26-rockchip64 (cause when I got it, the Orange Pi 4 images weren't out yet). The OPi4 is running just fine. I imagine that I'm running the wrong DTB and that not all the hardware is working properly -- but the hardware I need is working just fine. The OPi4B is another story. It'll boot just fine, and it'll run just fine for days/weeks on end -- as long as I don't put it under any sort of heavy CPU load. But if I start running anythi…

Please, I need an img of Armbian compatible with the following: RK3399T and with HDMI. I have tried all versions of Armbian and they do not work. Some do, but the problem is that it does not display an image. I believe it could be the HDMI. The most preferable versions for me are Armbian Noble or Bookworm. The problem also occurs during updates. After updating, the wireless does not work. If there is a version with this fixed, I would be grateful if someone could post a version for me, as up-to-date as possible. My Radxa is a Rock Pi 4Plus v1.73. With a 256GB microSD, I need an img of Armbian that is compatible with wireless and HDMI. If anyone can send me the link, I wou…

Today I decided to update my kernel to 6.3.9 with the mainline ubuntu kernel/ppa https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2020/08/mainline-install-latest-kernel-ubuntu-linux-mint/ However this does not work if you have disk-encryption . This is the device-mapper module needed by cryptsetup to create a device in /dev/mapper/ After running unmkinitramfs on the 6.3.9 kernel /usr/lib/modules/6.3.9/kernel/drivers/md/dm-mod.ko was indeed missing. I'm working on a project using the nanopim4v2-current image. I noticed an issue with the available HDMI output resolutions. Only a select few resolutions are available, despite the connected screen advertising support for additional ones. I was also unable to output a custom resolution (for example 1920x538) by adding the proper modeline in manually through xrandr. I've been looking into this for a bit and managed to find a partial solution in Miouyouyou's recent pull request "[RFC] RK3288 : Add HDMI resolutions". Adding the patches to my build enabled support for my monitor's native resolution (1920x1200) and allowed me the ability to output custom resol…

Hello, I have installed the "Armbian_community_25.2.0-trunk.124_Tinkerboard-2_bookworm_current_6.6.63_minimal.img.xz" image on my tinkerboard-2 to develop a library for one wire devices. There is a problem with the usage of armbian-config on activating overlays. The entry in armbianEnv.txt includes the prefix in the overlay name. This can be workarounded manually, e.g. for w1-gpio the correct entry needs to be: overlays=rk3399-w1-gpio2 If anyone can point me to the source code I maybe can provide a PR to fix it. Another problem is the content of the overlay of this w1-gpio. After activating the dmesg give an error (the first w…

Hi, I have an issue with an USB device which is not detected; looking on other forum, it seems that additional modules shall be added: - cdc_acm,cdc_ether - rndis_host - rndis_wlan - usbnet I'm not able to load these using the modprobe cmd & checking loaded modules with lsmode cmd. I suspect that they are not part of the kernel. Any hint how to solve this, eventually recompile / install ? Thanks by advance, Samuel

I always received beacons with Country "US", until I created the file "brcmfmac43456-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-4.txt". RockPi 4 Model C support will come in the near future?

Hi, I'm wondering if the NanoPi M4 can be made to work with a PiTFT 320x240 screen? When I set up the /dev/fb0 device and write to it, the display simply stays black/white (each time I write to the display only the shades change). NanoPi M4 has a different GPIO set-up from Raspberry Pi 3b+ (which PiTFT works with). Is there a possibility that the NanoPi M4's GPIO could be rewired in a way that it would support the PiTFT? E.g. Tinkerboard runs under RK3288 (vs M4's RK3399) and has the same GPIO layout as the RPi 3B+, so it could maybe be made possible?

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the maintainers for their contributions. This project has helped me a lot, and it runs smoothly on my device. It seems that the status of the nanopi-r5s has been in the staging phase for a long time. I am wondering if there is an opportunity for it to be promoted to the standard support phase. Additionally, I would greatly appreciate having a compiled version of Ubuntu Server. Is there anyone willing to help with this? Thank you very much.

Looked at a lot of other forums posts and it seems to be a common problem for the Orange pi 5B, but all the solutions i've tried hasn't worked. Most of the problems they seemed to have is not updating the armbianEnv.txt to include the "b" for this specific model from the opi 5. Below is the error message I always get whenever trying to boot from the EMMC. Using 6.1 kernel sometimes I can't see the EMMC in /dev, after installing the orange pi Ubuntu image I can see it. After I run armbian-install I can't see it in /dev. I put the orange pi image back on the sd card and I can see the EMMC was installed, the boot/armbianEnv.txt also does have the "b". …

After installing the hardware and software, my hdd 1 is inactive. I swapped my disk 1 and 5, 1 is still inactive. I checked my connections in the box but I don't see any problems. Could this be due to a software error?

I'm trying to get this rockpro64 board to boot off of pxe/nfs. I'm able to get it to boot into armbian and to the point where it asks for the new root password. But something happens on the device where the network gets disabled which stops the NFS connectivity and the rest of the system with it. All traffic stops on the device and it becomes unreachable. NFS traffic stops, it no longer responds to pings, etc. It's not entirely frozen, for example it prints kernel messages to console if the ethernet is pulled. And after a few minutes the nfs connection times out and it starts printing this over and over. It always happens about 75 seconds…

I've done quite a bit of searching and can't find anyone else reporting this specific issue. As the title says any 6.8 image I try fails to boot. The LED is red for approx 4 seconds, turns green for 2 or 3 seconds, and then turns red again and stays that way no matter how long I wait. There is never any video regardless of which HDMI port I use. I've tried the following images: Armbian_24.8.0-trunk.85_Orangepi5-plus_noble_edge_6.8.12_gnome-oibaf_desktop.img.xz Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepi5-plus_noble_edge_6.8.10_gnome-oibaf_desktop.img.xz Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepi5-plus_noble_edge_6.8.10_xfce_desktop.img.xz Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepi5-plus_bookworm_edge_6.8.10…

I have a rock5b running Armbian_23.02.2_Rock-5b_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_gnome_desktop.img Recently, somehow the kernel become corrupt in some manner. I restarted the board and it just never booted again. Blue light stays lit, never flashes. I am in the process of attempting recovery following the guide here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Recovery/ however I get a little lost once downloading the required files, considering the naming scheme is a bit different and file locations are different. Currently I have downloaded: armbian-firmware_23.02.2_all.deb and linux-source-legacy-rockchip-rk3588_23.02.2_all.deb Can someon…

When I reboot with kernel 6.8.4 (edge) installed by apt upgrade, I noticed my scripts that uses snapper for remove differential backups. It turns out that, if no cleanup algorithm option is used, snapshot is created. Before the reboot, with kernel 6.8.1 version, there was no issue. I on Armbian Bookworm, but also with other Debian Bookworm based OS running those same kernel binaries. Same failure with 6.8.5 Currently I don't know any more, I could run this faulty kernel in a VM as the .config is such that it also boots on virt hardware (virt-7.2 as Bookworm uses). EDIT: Also in a VM, the problem is there: root@armbian64:/tmp# sn…

Hi, I had to change the Rack 1 HDD because I got an email telling me that this disk was broken. So I ordered new discs to make my replacement. When I put my new disk my problem started. For information my old disk was perfectly visible before I changed it and the led was functional too. I have a strange problem and I'm afraid it's hardware. Currently I have Rack 1 (HDD 1) which no longer detects my disks, there are no more LEDs lighting up, we can clearly hear the HDD lighting up, but it is not visible in the CLI and not via the WebUI. Im using OMV 6.x with kernel 5.15.89 (current) stable RAID 6 with 5 x 8To Have try…

Board: NanoPC-T4(rk3399) OS: Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.69 stable Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.4.167-rk3399 In VLC preferences, i have set video output to OPENGL ES(and here OPENGL ES is soft link to libMali.so). In short hardware accelerated Rendering. Problem Statement: When a video file is played in fullscreen mode it works perfect. But as soon as other x-window(for eg: small sized terminal window) comes in front of this fullscreen window, tearing effect starts. Now i don't understand why this happen. Whether it happens due to libMali and X-server Glamor compositing or something else. i don't have full understanding of linux graphics stack. …

(Note: this is crossposted from an ATS issue, since I think it might be quicker to get answers here. Will post on one thread when I get answers that work in the other) Have installed ats on my Rock64, running Armbian 22.05 Jammy with kernel version 5.10.63, and am having trouble getting the fan to spin. The fan I'm using is the one that comes with this case, and it spins when I connect it to a battery. One possible issue is that I had to manually add an entry for PWM_CTL: running sudo find /sys -name pwm\*, I get: /sys/kernel/tracing/events/pwm /sys/kernel/tracing/events/pwm/pwm_apply /sys/kernel/tracing/events/pwm/pwm_get /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/events/p…

Hello I need to change a drive in the Helios64, and so I bought a new WD 2TB drive. Using a WD My Book 111D USB enclosure, I have partitioned, formatted and copied the data from the old drive. But when I change the drives to put the new one in the Helios64, the drive appears unformatted. See below. I can't understand what's happening, when I plug it back through USB everything is back to normal. Does the partitioning through USB differ somehow??? It appears as if the partition table "stays in the USB enclosure", which doesn't make sense for me. Is there something to try? Do I have to start again the process in the NAS enclosure? I…

I have a ROCK 3A that reaches Maskrom/recovery but will not boot any Radxa or Armbian SD image and produces no useful UART output. UART is configured per Radxa docs at 1500000 8N1 on the debug header, and the exact same adapter/host/settings work on another ROCK 3A. There is no eMMC and no NVMe installed. I also tried resetting/loading SPI via Maskrom using rkdeveloptool db rk356x_spl_loader_ddr1056_v1.12.109_no_check_todly.bin, then loading Radxa’s rock-3a-spi-image-gef9f6b1caad.img. Radxa’s ROCK 3A loader directory contains the matching SPI artifacts, including rock-3a-spi-image-gef9f6b1caad.img, rock-3a-idbloader-gef9f6b1caad.img, and rock-3a-u-boot-gef9f6b1caad.itb, a…

Hi folks, I am wondering if somebody with a mac enviroment has a decent / performant samba connectivity? After I upgraded to Big Sur I have severe issues with the samba protocol when accessing my shares on the helios running openmediavault. I know that Apple had made some changes with samba but there might be some users that dug a little bit deeper and could give me a hint. I did try it with different settings in the extra options over the past weeks but with no luck so far. Sidenote: Also NFS is terribly slow and laggy. I am back with AFP connection now that does the job perfectly and fast.

I don't have a NanoPC-T4, but I have a NanoPC-T6 which I mainly bought because of the Dual Camera options of the MCAM400 on the T4 and the high-speed encoding properties of the Rockchip... those possibilities should be very similar for the T6 actually... Whatever, the camera configuration seems to be mostly here but I struggle to do the similar thing with the device tree of the T6... Anyone who has an idea about this and is willing to help me with that?

I see that there is a lot of work ongoing on improving the UEFI boot support for Rock 5B and this is quite exciting. In my view this seem to be the ideal route for future SBC boards. However, I am yet to try it so I am still a novice in the area. How do you guys look at the future of UEFI vs U-boot for Linux on SBC’c in general and on the Rock 5B in particular? Will the UEFI version be as capable as a u-boot version or do you see limitations?

Has anyone here tested the Rock64 successfully with an u-boot version which is not the one from ayufan? I did not have much luck with the rk3328 default config and mainline u-boot when I tried it a while back. The same is true when I tried to use the board config from ayufan with mainline u-boot. The version by ayufan is working in principle but also is rather dated as far as I know and therefore does not support some newer features. Anyone knows if the version from ayufan will be bumped or has a working config for a more recent u-boot version?

I have a 4G Rev 2 Rock64 that is running like a champ on current - 5.4.2 as of this writing, as far as USB and Ethernet are concerned. I did have to blacklist UAS for all my USB drives, and now the board is rock solid even with heavy disk and network IO. I do have one problem though, I have no sound. I have the following loaded (automatically): root@chdock:/home/sugata# cat /proc/modules |grep snd snd_soc_rk3328 16384 0 - Live 0xffff800008dc9000 And yet, I get this: root@chdock:/home/sugata# aplay -l aplay: device_list:272: no soundcards found... I searched around this forum and nothing obvious came up. Any ideas?

In page station m2 -armbian say: Important. For the new images to work, it is necessary to update the u-boot in eMMC on M2\P2. The new version of u-boot is compatible with the existing official versions of Station and Ubuntu, which are released by Firefly. To upgrade to the new version of u-boot, you need to follow several steps. 1. Download a special version of the image from the link. download link but the download link: Nothing found There's a typo in the link, or the owner deleted the files or restricted access to them. Please update the download link, thanks!

What gives with the Armbian website links? Links to all previous versions Armbian for the OrangePi R1 Plus LTS have been removed. The links to SHA hash and PGP signature do nothing. I was hoping to use an image that was based on Debian Bullseye, but that link has been recently removed. It is possible to create my image, but I would spend my time working on my code, not wading through the options to create an image.
