Hi! I have the problem that when I try to boot with any Kernel other than 4.4.x, U-boot gives me the "Bad ARM64 Image Magic" Error and stops booting. I can build my own 4.4 Kernels without any problem, those will boot fine. But If I try any newer kernel, for example a NEXT Kernel (package linux-image-next-rockchip), or a DEV Kernel (package linux-image-dev-rockchip), or even if I compile my own 5.3 Kernel, a boot attempt always results in the Bad Magic error. I also have this problem when I install a whole 5.3 Armbian Image (for example https://dl.armbian.com/rockpro64/Buster_current_desktop) I have three RK3399-…

  6. Hi, Tested the current build (Armbian_19.11.3_Rockpi-4b_buster_current_5.3.11_desktop.7z) on a Rock Pi 4 v1.3. Working well so far the past couple of hours. Its an amazing feeling to be able to run the mainline kernel with so little issues. Some minor things: The Red Led keeps on blinking with this build. Earlier it only blinked if there was error while booting. New to this board, so this maybe incorrect. I booted up Radxa image and there also red light was blinking. Sound via 3.5 mm jack not working. Inserted earphone, no output. Sound via HDMI works. Thanks for your work. Edit- System info: aaditya…

Hi all, I'm a bit out of date with regards to a working image for the NanoPi M4 v2 board. I have @pask image which works great but having to boot from the sd card and flash a bootloader patch to eMMC card whenever you reinstall ( I constantly break installs by over experimenting with stuff I don't know enough about ) is a bit of a pain. Anyone know of an image I can just download and flash ?

Hello, i'm experiencing random reboots on my RockPi 4b. I firstly recognoized this when my Squid Proxy Server was not working anymore because it had no permissions to its var/log/squid directory. What i saw (lsblk) that /var/log/ is only of a size of 50mb. Will that be the cause for the reboots? Does the system crash when the logs are full? My System is a Rock Pi 4b with 32gb emmc storage. However, despite following instructions to the letter. I can't get the board to boot from the eMMC card, in fact I don't think the board even recognizes the card ( I've tried different ones ) Also not being able to connect via a serial cable is hampering my attempts at debugging the boot process. Hi, I'm wondering if the NanoPi M4 can be made to work with a PiTFT 320x240 screen? When I set up the /dev/fb0 device and write to it, the display simply stays black/white (each time I write to the display only the shades change). NanoPi M4 has a different GPIO set-up from Raspberry Pi 3b+ (which PiTFT works with). Is there a possibility that the NanoPi M4's GPIO could be rewired in a way that it would support the PiTFT? E.g. Tinkerboard runs under RK3288 (vs M4's RK3399) and has the same GPIO layout as the RPi 3B+, so it could maybe be made possible?

  37. Hi everybody, I recently set up a small server with the Rock64 booting armbian stretch 5.59 stable directly from a 120 GB SSD attached via USB3. Booting is handled with U-Boot from ayufan on the SPI flash. The Rock64 is board revision 2.0, the power supply is the original Pine64 one for the Rock. Besides the SSD, there are no other peripherals connected. The board often (3 out of 4 times) hangs when booting. In this case, all LEDs are lit, the orange network LED will flash and the board is not reachable by SSH and not pingable. My impression is, that it is stuck because the SSD either powered up too late or the USB connection is delayed. However, I…

  41. Hi. I'm new here and have a small issue. Situation is: I'm using the T4 board for an amateur radio repeater controller. The repeater works in an unmanned relay station 10 kilometers from the my home. To have access by remote even if the boot hangs for some reasons (maintenance mode), I have connected the debug uart (ttyS2) to a serial-to-IP adapter to have access anyway. Because the IP adapter cannot set up to 1.5 MBps, I have reduced the speed down to 115 kbps by changing the kernel argument in the boot.cmd from console=ttyS2,1500000 to console=ttyS2,115200. 53. Hi there, I'd like to point out that the armbian buster (Armbian_5.90_Rockpi-4b_Debian_buster_default_4.4.182_desktop) and armbian bionic images are not booting on the rockpi 4b at this time. I've searched the forum and have not found a mention of his, therefore I'd like to do this now. I unfortunatly don't know how to record boot messages at this time. 57. Recently I've been trying to build Armbian for Firefly RK3399, since I've purchased this board last year, and it has been lacking proper software support for a long time. Here is my fork https://github.com/hjc4869/build/tree/development Basically, It is a copy & paste of what's already done to support Odroid N1, by replacing the Hardkernel's kernel to what Firefly provides (an older 4.4.77 kernel), and replacing the Hardkernel u-boot with rockchip u-boot. I created a new 'firefly' board family for convenience. Also tried to build the image with some other kernel variants (Rockchip 4.4 bsp and mainline 4.17-rc6) without success, still investigati…

I just purchased a 4GB Rock64. I've tried both the Ubuntu (Armbian Bionic Desktop 4.4.y) and Debian (Armbian Stretch Desktop 4.4.y) distros. I'm finding that the Debian distro is very sluggish compared to the Ubuntu distro. The desktop is sluggish in responding to mouse clicks and in Chromium, a basic web page takes about 3 seconds to display compared to about 1 second with Ubuntu. Is this the same performance difference that other people are finding with these distros on the Rock64? Is there some configuration tweak I need to make to improve Debian performance? Is there another distro that I should check out that would give me better performance?

Hi folks! Some problems later I just build my ethereum-node using the FriendlyARM NanoPC T4 (Reddit project Ethereum on NanoPC T4). Using it indoor the temperature climbs to 80° celsius with the passive cpu-heatspreader. So I decided to install a fan and found the specs for the 'Cooling Fan interface'. The connector is named BM03B-GHS-TBT. Where can I buy a fan (40x40mm)? I only find fans with 3-pole-molex-adapter. All I know is the name of the male connector (in german): "JST Buchsengehäuse-Kabel GH Polzahl Gesamt 3 Rastermaß: 1.25 mm GHR-03V-S".

  67. Hi, I'm currently facing strange problems... I'm using NanoPi and operate some USB devices with it. Since I wanted to know the total power consumption of the system, I measured current which flows into NanoPi from the outlet. The current during while the camera working was very nice (about 1A) so I shut the pi down. Then, I found that the total current value gradually rose up from about 1A to 1.5A. This seems to be so strange because when it gets shutdown, the power should be off as well, and the pi only needs small amount of power just to light the red LED. I tried a few times but the result was always same... …

Hey all! Finally got my Rock64 booted up and running. I set up a Samba server and a Plex share so I can access an attached USB3 RAID array as a media server. Upgraded to a Netgear R7000P and the issue still persists so I figured it would be worth it to post here. I would've attributed it to the USB3 to eSata converter going to the RAID array but doing some disk speed tests on the Rock64 shows it getting about 130 MB/s read/write speed over the connection so I doubt it's that. Samba setup is stock and my share described bel…
