  1. Hello, I updated to Armbian 26.2.1 trixie installaed on emmc. If I poweroff the nas and power on again it does't work, but if I attach an usb cable to the console it works. I think the problem must be related to the u-boot part.

  5. Hello, when i installed the helios64 initially i had the problem with the fans spinning at 100% (or really loud) and i solved it somehow. It was working fine with the fans spinning for one second when starting and shutting down the device. Now i finally updated the NAS with sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade sudo omv-release-upgrade sudo reboot and after the reboot the fans are now spinning really loud again all the time. Hello, Recently the HDD Cable Harness for my Helios64 malfunctioned. SATA Ports 1 and 2 are both no longer getting power/HDDs are not spinning up. I confirmed that it was power by plugging the SATA cable into ports 3, 4, and 5 on the motherboard which all function. I also iterated through the system by removing all the HDD's and testing each HDD slot one at a time. All 5 HDDs fucntion individually in a USB drive enclosure, and all 5 function in my server system and I can mount the RAID array. My question is, does anyone know how to contact the Helios/Kobol team so I can purchase a replacement HDD Harness Cable? …

My power supply is perfectly fine and even I have tried using with the ATX power supply same result. Does anyone face this issue and please help me to get my board working again. Thanks!

  10. I have a Helios64 that I recently reinstalled/updated to the latest Armbain Jammy image after not updating for quite some time and finding some of the repos to be dead. Without the drives initialized the system seems like it will run for days, but with the drives initialized (ZFS), I will get the below error after a few hours of uptime (~8-10 hours). I have seen some threads saying to set the CPU clock to one speed to fix the issue and some people installing a newer kernel (via beta.armbian.com). If anyone has any thoughts on how I could try and make this more stable I would appreciate it. [477435.475903] rcu: INFO: rcu_preempt self-detected stall on CPU [477…

Works fine, does not yet have the 2.5GB fix but I have the instructions for same. No idea what to ask for it but it certainly isn't doing me any good sitting on my shelf. Have the manual, SATA drive bay adapters for 2.5" drives and the like. Make me an offer and pay shipping from Oregon. Let's talk!

Hi guys, I have been using my Helios64 for more than a year now. I have it connected with the 1Gbps NIC. I have been reading about network bonding and getting both NICs up and running. The main purpose would be to have it running in mode "Adaptive Transmit Load Balancing" (mode 5). First I've discovered the issue with the 2.5Gbps not being able to keep a consistent (and performant) speed. So I've soldered the missing pin from the capacitor to the NIC (more on this later). I've checked the speed and now it is up to specs, getting very close to 1000Mbps (960-980Mbps). But here it comes the problem that I'm facing, if I enable both independently …

  15. Hi, I've got a Helios64 device running with OpenMediaVault 6.9.2-1 (Shaitan). kobol@helios64:~$ uname -a Linux helios64 6.1.50-current-rockchip64 #3 SMP PREEMPT Wed Aug 30 14:11:13 UTC 2023 aarch64 GNU/Linux It has been stable until I recently install openmediavault-photoprism 6.0.9-1 plugin provided by OMV6 through a podman container. 16. My Helios64 NAS is suddenly randomly just, stopping. It appears to be totally random. It doesn't appear to be some form of actual shutdown as the front panel lights all stay on. I lose all access including the serial console. The only way to reboot is a long press on the power button to actually physically reboot the box. I've cranked the verbosity up to 7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt in case something is output on the serial console but I've not seen any useful output yet but for obvious reasons it's hard to catch it happening. Because /var/log is cleared every boot I can't see if anything was logged just prior to the halt event. Not sure where to…

  18. Hi folks, I am puzzled. When I am away for a few days I usually shut down my nas. It does indeed shut down but over night comes up again. Now I would like to know what triggers that unwanted restart here... I am currently on 21.08.3 Buster with Linux rockchip64 5.10.63 and do have OMV running... I could unplug the battery next time but I'd rather solve the issue the correct way. It's strange to me because I did not change any system parameters in OMV or via SSH. I do believe that an update to the latest kernel did mess things up. Where do I have to have a look?

Is rk3399-kobol-helios64.dtb-6.12.xx-L2-hs400-opp work with 6..18.10 kernel ? Is I must to downgrade to 6.12.58 kernel with rk3399-kobol-helios64.dtb-6.12.xx-L2-hs400-opp and freeze at this kernel version ? Thanks for answer.

Hi all, Something to share for those who use the USB-C serial console from another Linux host. Install and use 'tio' to connect to the serial console instead of minicom. This supports both 1500k baud and also can be easily used inside GNU screen (minicom gets a meta key conflict per default; CTRL-A is default meta key for both GNU screen and minicom). Minicom resulted in regular errors posted in syslog by the ftdi_sio kernel module. Did not run any strace to find out what syscall is causing it, but in short, tio appears to not treat the tty as a modem: no errors are popping up in syslog. Hopefully the serial consoles will remain up now. One caveat: I did not fin…

As of yesterday - with the latest commit - it is possible to run a virtualised "ccu3" base station for that platform, called pivccu, with support for a detached antenna module (RPI-RF-MOD) coupled to Helios64 (and Armbian 20.11 kernel 5.9.10) through a tcp/ip network using a dedic…

  45. Hi there, I'm using the latest version of armbian to run the linuxptp for the ieee1588v2 clock. When I check the timestamp status, the 1Gbps port which is the RTL8122 is no problem, but the 2.5G ports RTL8125BG are only supporting the software timestamp. However, when I checked the Realtek website, it says that the 8125BG also supports the IEEE1588 clock. I tried to install the driver, but it did not work. As a beginner in Linux, I probably don't have the knowledge to compile drivers, in this case I sincerely hope that armbian could officially support the hw ptp timestamp in 8125 NIC. I just cannot access spi on my Rock64. I read a couple posts of it but none works out for me I'm running Armbian 22.05.3 Focal with Linux 5.15.52-rockchip64 on it. Tried enabling spi-jedec-nor and spi-spidev overlay, but with none of them I get output when executing ls /dev/spi*. Is it maybe a hardware issue, reading this post suggests that to me: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=5473&pid=34616#pid34616 But I cannot make much sense out of it. Can anyone help me get spi working?

  50. Hi guys. I've been working with the 4.19 kernel before on M2. I upgraded to the kernel version 5.18 today. I found that I can't find the registered udc device anymore. This is auto-registered on the 4.19 kernel and you can find it under /sys/class/udc. root@station-m2:/boot# ls /sys/class/udc fcc00000.dwc3 I would like to ask how to enable the udc device on the 5.18 kernel. Thank you.

  51. Hello, After I first installed my Helios64, I feared the 16Gb eMMC would be quickly filled. 59. Started by JSF,

I am hoping that the community can enlighten me on how the Armbian development process works. I just purchased a Rock 64 board to use for a NextCloud box at home. I am seeing that Armbian seems to be the "best" OS solution for this. I also see that the Armbian release for Rock64 is still in "testing" phase. I would really prefer to run a "stable" release for this application. So my question is how does Armbian for Rock64 move from testing to stable. What is the process, what still needs to be done? I am not a developer or linux expert by any means. I am wondering how the process works so the I can see if I might be able to assist in any way. …

Can someone please help me understand how Armbian for Rock64 is developed? In the past, there was an image for the Rock64 that was a server image, not a desktop image. Now, I see Ubuntu and a Debian Stretch desktop images, no server image. Is there a plan to build a server image going forward? Also, will a newer kernel be built at some point? Not trying to stir the pot or cause trouble, just trying to understand where the Rock64 support is going in the future. Thank you for all the spectacular work the Armbian team does.

  67. I've read many tutorials and tried many tips on how to change console resolution in Armbian Ubuntu 18.04 on ROCK64 but couldn't find any solution. I'm stuck with 4K resolution and can't reconfigure it down to 1920x1080. armbian-config tool lacks such basic functionality. Is there any way to do resolution change or do I have to get 1080p monitor? It's fucked up doing such simple thing is so complicated. Wasted over 2 hours now researching and no solution yet.

However, it works with a different TV, which unfortunately I cannot use full time. I note that on the working TV, there's a line in dmesg stating "Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 240x67" which would imply that this can be configured somewhere?? However I tried searching, the only docs I get are outdated, for other hardware, or don't work. I tried adding 'disp.screen0_output_mode=1280x720p60' to /boot/armbianEnv.txt, but it had no effect. A pointer as to where these settings are actually controlled would be very helpful. Thanks

Sometimes my machine runs for as few as 6 minutes before crashing, and helpfully, it keeps clearing the systemd journal every time it starts up so I can't even see what happened just before it crashed. It crashes running OMV and Syncthing with high load, it crashes doing absolutely nothing but watching the systemd journal. It crashes doing nothing at all. When it crashes, it corrupts my files, and often the OMV Database requiring me to CONSTANTLY reset the GUI password for OMV, and then find that half of OMV isn't working. It does this on both uSD cards and on the inbuilt MMC.…

However there were some minor problems, this is the first one: Video resolution was incorrect by default in console framebuffer. The screen is 1920x1080, but default was 1280x720. The solution is adding extraargs=video=1920x1080@60 To /boot/armbianEnv.txt . The part after first = is passed to the Kernel command line and kernel enables the resolution. This have fixed my problem mostly, however, the video output is enabled only during late boot. Hi, I have bricked my system by installing the rk3399 legacy multmedia framework. It was installed on emmc. I was able to recover my system by using the P11 jumper to skip the boot on emmc, as explained in the doc, and now my system runs on a SDCard. The problem is, it seems that I cannot access the EMMC anymore -- it does not show up /dev. My intuition is that the P11 jumper disables the EMMC altogether. Am I write and if so, how can I access the EMMC again? I would like to be able to read it again (I had important data, notably unison synchronization files) and reinstall a fresh OS on it. Any help would be welcome!

Hi, I have a USB device that periodically hangs. Reboot or re-plug helps, but I need something lighter. I've seen several discussions on the problem of resurrecting hanging USB devices, but their solutions seems devices specific. Non on them worked in my case. I tried ioctl with USBDEVFS_RESET among other methods. uhubctl didn't work too (it seems it only sees EHCI hub, while my device is USB3.0 and connected to XHCI). Ideally the solution should depower a single USB connector to let the device fully reset and then get it connected back.
