My MXQ TV box died today, I was running Armbian stretch, and I had been listening to Mplayer playing Mp3s for several hours as background music, when the player stopped because it ran through the list, I went to change directories, but there were none found( I was running off the SSD), so I tried the root directory, also no files found. I closed the terminal window, and tried to restart, which just resulted in a boot loop. Thinking the file system was corrupt, I disconnected the SSD,and tried to boot the Android system from the internal Nand? which also resulted in similar behavior, I tried a different monitor, and removed all peripherals , Android partially booted, then…

Hi, I have an A95X F3 Air tv box that has an s905x3 chipset. I followed the instructions here. I believe i used the correct dtb file and tested out multiple others. I've tried reformatting my drive with SD card formatter. I've tried flashing my stock firmware. However I cannot seem to get armbian to boot. I'm getting no video output. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've searched high and low on the internet and I could not find a solution. I have seen aml_autoscript.zip being mentioned here and there however the image I've downloaded doesn't seem to have it. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to boot from USB using Armbian, specifically LibreELEC, but it doesn't boot, it boots to Armbian, Armbian detects the USB but when i disconnect it and I connect it again, it turns off then turn on but to Armbian again The thing is, how can I boot from USB? Or how can I boot or install LibreELEC/CoreELEC while having Armbian on the eMMC?

I just bought hk1box with S905x3 chip, 4G RAM and 64G EMMC. It's a great box running android 9.0 smoothly. It has TTL pads so it can be used to check system boot up log. I've tried to run armbian on it. The good news is that the latest version of balbes150 - Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0.img can boot up successfully. The bad news is that the screen is green. I've learned from forum that the issue is caused by Amlogic‘s modification of u-boot and need to have u-boot.ext to solve the problem. Hi, So I trashed the eMMC on my Amlogic s805 based TV Box, with 1GB RAM and 2GB eMMC. Getting it into mask ROM mode is easy enough, but how to resurrect the eMMC, so that I can boot Armbian off an SD card, is a total mystery. Can it be done, and if so...how? Every time I boot Armbian on my tv box, there is always a 5 second prompt on startup similar to entering startup options on Windows. I'm not entirely sure what it's for, but i'm assuming it's a barebones u-boot command line. The problem is, I don't need it, and it adds a significant amount of time when booting. Is there a way to force them to boot into Armbian? Holding the power button doesn't work, and desoldering the EMMC didn't help either. I was able to boot Armbian using UART. I discovered this counterfeitby accident because I couldn't boot any armbian image for S905W soc and I accidentally tried the multitool and it started right away 1GB/8GB version and not 2GB/16GB. Hello, i have a tv box H96 Pro+ with 3Gb ram and S912 processor. I used instructions from here, used balenaEtcher to copy data to SD card I adjusted the /boot/extlinux/extlinux.conf file and copied the 912 uboot to u-boot.ext When i try to boot the SD card, i am getting an error Failed to mount /dev/mmcblk1p1 as root file system. Full error in the attched image. What is confusing me is that it looks like the system is expecting /dev/mmcblk1p1 to be ext4 but when i check it in Gparted, it is FAT32 Would you please push me to the right direction? Thank you

It appears to have kinetic (Unbuntu?) installed. I ended up not really using it and it went back into a box. Now I have a use for it. I want to run this software. Hello, i have m96x max tvbox on s906x cpu, i install armbian and all fine works. But. Sometimes when tvbox power turns off and i power on - it won't boot. At monitor i can't see nothing, black screen, monitor go to sleeping mode. This can happen after 2-3 sometimes 5-6 incorrect shutdowns. To fix the problem i disconnect my usb-hub and wifi dongle, insert SD-card with Armbian - and voila, tvbox boot ok from sd card. I see on the monitor until the boot is complete and turn it off by pulling the power out of the outlet.Then i unplug SD card, connect the usb hub and the wifi dongle and turn ON it, boot from the internal memory goes fine. I've flashed Armbian on it and done the usual configuration but I always boot into the eMMC's Armbian. I've read that one way to fix this is to restore Android with the Amlogic USB Tool, but I found that my board has no reset button, not even hidden inside the jacks. I would like to use it to play movies via kodi and play retro games e.g. via RetroArch. Previously I used CoreELEC on an sd-card that is great for movies. From USB starts without pressing the reset button (behind AV), but for SC card needs to be pressed. I got couple of Amlogic S905 and S905x boxes. And i think i've used at least a 7-8 hours to see if i can get these to work again. I tried to use the lastest images with S905 boxes, and it is has been a real hassle to get it working. Some times i had to hook up an USB disk in addition to get it to boot the rootfs. And when i finally get into the OS, the network won't work. Both the built in Ethernet port and an USB Ethernet adapter. Both can detect a link, but unable to to receive IP from DHCP nor is it possible when manually assigned to get it to ping the GW. Is support for such devices by @balbes150still something that he still does?

Can someone please help me install Linux on my Ninkbox? I have tried various S905X3 images I can find on the net and burned to an SD card but cannot get any of them to boot. I need explicit instructions and a working image for my Ninkbox N8 plus. The image that seemingly works with my unit has a dead link from all the resources on the web so I cannot find this image to download. If anyone can help me and point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I am particularly interested in running any distro with a good package manger like Debian / Ubuntu.

I was dumb enough to try and update uboot on this little box and then it got sort of bricked. When connected using serial I could see it loop trying to boot from EMMC so I tried the reset button recovery to no avail. Shorting the EMMC pins works putting the device in recovery mode but the usb burn tool is stuck on formatting at 7% after it seems to sucesfull removed (and maybe flashed) uboot but the serial connection still shows it looping on EMMC. So I tried the next thing, shorting EMMC while connected using serial and I could the looping change to include sd and usb. Hello guys, it's day i'm trying everything to let my S905x TV Box run Armbian but i keep struggle at toothpick multiboot. Android recovery stays with the green android with the ! out of its tummy and hang with the "Cannot load volume /misc!" error. I opened the log and find out "failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 on /sdcard by read-only (Device or resource busy)". The only DTB's files that work for me are `meson-gxl-s905w-p281.dtb` and `meson-gxl-s905w-tx3-mini.dtb`. Is there a way to validated for sure if I have 2GB of RAM? I tried to push it on my box freshly factored by default usb burning tool and android img from mecool. Install SD as usual with the settings according to the first post of balbe thread (it changed with the u boot) but after installing on emmc i'm stuck at the u boot and don't know why as it was working correctly on previous builds. Hello, I have installed the armbian bookworm version with xfce on it, 6.1.30 kernel on my 32gb usb flash drive using balena etcher according to the instruction, I have tweaked the boot.cmd file, and only tweaked the video settings and regenerated using the mkimage command, Using linux to setup. and when I tried booting on the tv, everything worked till bam it kernel panics and starts flashing the red status leds on my android box. Hi all, I have some x905 boxes and I'd like to use one (an old TX95 -> x905w IIRC) as a midi sequencer with fluidsynth. I found the hard way that the default kernel has no midi sequencer support (in kernel or module) so there's no way to use aconnect and have it as a midi box. The only solution seems to be rebuild the kernel with the added module support but it's been decades since last time i rebuilt a kernel and S905 kernels (with added balbes150 mods and stuff to have it working on those cheap boxes) seems a bit too complex for me.
