  2. Hello, I bought a card which has an SK6805 LED onboard (https://www.tindie.com/products/hallard/ethtinfo-tic-teleinfo-reader-for-ethernet-esp32/) and I'm wondering if there is a way to control it from my BananaPI IO-8 ? Thanks

  3. This article describes how I successfully configured a PWM fan on an Orange Pi 5 Max running Armbian Debian Trixie Minimal vendor 6.1.115, using the opifancontrol utility. Special thanks to Jamie Sinclair for creating and sharing the opifancontrol project with the community. I have an Orange Pi 5 Max installed in a metal case and running several Docker containers, including Frigate, Immich, Samba, and others. The case originally came with a internal 30x30x10 mm fan, which was not able to provide sufficient cooling. Under load, CPU temperatures were reaching nearly 70°C. To improve cooling, I installed an external 40x40x10 mm PWM fan that was o…

  4. Im using armbian server edition. Im trying to setup my box to route internet from end0 (192.168.1.6) to internet on usb0 (dhcp). Im running dns & dhcp via docker adguard - but assume thats not working for now because once the nftable rules are applied I cannot access their web interfaces. But for now ping with ip is okay. With my current setup I can ping the internet from the 'router' via the interface usb0. But I cannot ping from the interface end0. ping 8.8.8.8 -I usb0 <- works ping 8.8.8.8 -I end0 <- Destination Host Unreachable Do I need to setup any static routes? Or should nftables handle all the routing? Ive t…

  7. Started by armdran,

I did install an apt install nfs-kernel-server nfs-common on my bananaPi M1. I did export some dirs and successfully mounted them from my clients. After a reboot the mounts did not work. Then I manually invoked exportfs -a and the client were able to mount. What is the correct way to get the nfs server started after a reboot?

  8. Is there a feature or workaround to automate armbian setup at first boot (set root password, set locales, set timezone, etc) ?

  9. I have an OrangePi PC with armbian installed on it. Today, probably because of my stupidity, the board couldn't boot after upgrading a bunch of stuff. When I opened the sd card on my pc, I found that there were no kernel files in /boot and there were broken symlinks. I tried to replace these with the files from the current minimal image armbian is available for the board, but encountered a UUID mismatch. I then used files from a september 2021 backup, which did allow me to boot into a functional system. It had Linux 5.10.43-sunxi. But before my attempts to fix the issue, my system had Linux 6.1.11-sunxi installed, so I am concerned about this mismatch and would like to sa…

Hi! I'm new in the forum, so I don't know if this is a bug or just a feature request. The idea is `armbian-upgrade` also runs dkms install, you know, like Ubuntu, so the zfs kernel module will be automatically building together with the kernel upgrade. Please, let me hear your thoughts about this. Maybe there is a flag to enable this already, or an open bug to implement the feature.

  13. Hello, I have a Medion Chromebook S2015 with a CPU (armv7 processor rev 1 (v7l)) and RAM (2062808 kB). So it's 32-bit. I want to install Linux on it. To do this, I need an armhf architecture. 15. I have to be upfront: I'm not a developer. I'm an ops/observability engineer who knows how to use software to get things done. I know a bit of Go — not much — and I have no formal background in software design. What I do know is what I need, and what was missing. So I built it. Take the code with that in mind. The problem I run a Kobol Helios64 as my home NAS — a five-bay ARM board that's been sitting in a sweet spot between "serious hardware" and "abandoned by its software ecosystem." I tried the usual NAS UIs. They were either too heavy, too opinionated about owning the underlying OS, or simply unmaintained. None of them gave me a clean window in…

Hi folks, Can anyone confirm which if any boards / cpus have functioning HDMI eARC suport? I've seen OrangePI 5 mentioning they have support, but it's unclear if the software support is there in any way; i assume all rk3588 (or likley hdmi 2.1 certified) boards will have hdmi (hardware) support. Similar with Khadas VIM3L or VIM4; hardware support is mentioned w/o any clarity on the software support. Thanks!

  17. Just found this: source: https://blog.qualys.com/vulnerabilities-threat-research/2024/07/01/regresshion-remote-unauthenticated-code-execution-vulnerability-in-openssh-server source: https://arstechnica.com/security/2024/07/regresshion-vulnerability-in-openssh-gives-attackers-root-on-linux/ The vulnerability, which is a signal handler race condition in OpenSSH’s server (sshd), allows unauthenticated remote code execution (RCE) as root on glibc-based Linux systems; that presents a significant security risk. This race condition affects sshd in its default configuration. Are we affected running Armbian ?

  24. I got an Orange Pi Zero 3 (1.5GB) to run Adguard Home. I tried the latest Armbian image (25.5.1), first with DE, then without... same problem. I run the config wizard and install AdGuard Home through it, set it up via the browser (192.168.0.6:3000), then reboot to make sure the service loads properly on boot... which it doesn't. Well, the service SEEMS to be running, according to the monitor, but I can no longer access AdGuard via the browser (and yes, I reserved 192.168.0.6 for the Orange Pi in the router).

  31. Hello Armbian community I am a bit confused - I only see images labeled for Raspberry Pi 4 in the Raspberry Pi section of the Armbian website. However, I have seen several videos (like the demo by NicoD) showing Armbian Jammy with KDE Neon running smoothly on Raspberry Pi 5. Are the images for Pi 5B hidden or moved? I am looking for a direct link to download the Pi 5B images (Jammy or Bookworm, desktop or minimal version), instead of having to guess if a "Pi 4" image actually supports the Pi 5. While trying the current Armbian_community_26.11.0-trunk.62_Bananapim2plus_trixie_current_6.18.54_minimal.img.xz the network wlan0 would not connect. Escaping that with a additional backslash made "netplan try" accept it, but the connection did not work, the interface wlan0 remained in status "state DOWN". Changing the SSID (removing that single backslash) made it working. I did not find something that prohibits the backslash use…

  43. I need to install some stuff on armbian system, which is installed on SD card and it runs on Orangepi PC board. It includes some sripts, Python libraries, etc and some of them require to be compiled on the fly, and it takes several hours when running on Orange PI. So my idea is to mount SD card on PC and run/chroot into installed system with qemu on Linux. So I will get much better performance and all neccesary steps will be performed much faster. Is it even possible to do that? After installation finishes, SD card will be again used to operate on OrangePI PC board.

Hi, just to be clear I've zero doubt the problem is me but this is a recurring issue and I've been unable to nut it out on my own. I've found (both with bullseye and bookworm) that installing Wireguard borks my system - ie I am unable to boot after install. I'm running headless and therefore am limited diagnostically (I can't say what errors are occurring when attempting to reboot) I realise this'll make my problem frustrating for a lot of folks to engage with but any ideas at all'd be helpful. When first using Armbian a few years back it seemed as though the issue was that the LTS kernel did not include wireguard support and I discover…

I have noticed that when building images using the same kernel but selecting Ubuntu or Debian base (Bookworm vs Jammy), some hardware doesn't work on one of the images. Since the kernel is identical, why is not the hardware support the same? Is there a different build script for the two bases? Different userspace drivers? Just wondering..

I normally like building server images because they are small and fast to compile. An then I can add the wanted desktop by "sudo apt install gnome" or other desktop later. But, sometimes I wonder if the desktop images have more features, like hardware drivers, than a server image with an added desktop afterwards. Can this be the case? Or does server images contain the same drivers and hardware support as a image built with a destop included?
