Install of Armbian 21.02.2 Buster with Linux version 5.7.15-meson64 and gpiod package installed on the Odroid N2 does not work for gpiomon. The gpiod command gpioinfo and gpioget work fine. Gpiomon fails with message "No such device". Searching for hours I believe the issue is that interrupts have not been assigned to the gpiopins, so appropriate devices don't exist. Any information on when/how to get a fully functional gpiod and associated python package going. Python code using python3-libgpiod also fails on the line.request function with the same "No such device" error.

Hi, I upgraded armbian on N2+ today... Apparently kernel was updated, I dont know how to fix this. Someone to help me ? Thanks

I recently upgraded from an Odroid HC2 to and Odroid HC4. I reinstalled the OS following the instructions on armbian.com, flashing onto a MicroSD. After migrating the apps (mostly dockers), I found that restic (backup tool) was generating out of memory errors and bringing the system to a halt in a way the HC2 didn't. This surprised me as it's overall higher specced, and the configuration was otherwise identical. After some troubleshooting, I realised there was no swap drive specified, and that creating a swap eliminated my out of memory errors. I'm not sure if the source of the "problem" is the swapfile here, but it at least…

Hi all How can I enable the rtc clock in the Odroid HC4? I know nothing about device tree and overlays, but the Hardkernel Ubuntu image has an overlay to enable: wiki. I didn't find anything similar in the armbian image. Could be related to this this PR for the N2 model? Thanks

Hello all! I have an ODROID-C2 that I am trying to use with a GPS connected over UART for timing purposes, which requires the use of pps. Based on my searching and reading in this forum, I have determined that for my OS and kernel (Focal, 5.9.14) I should be able to do so by adding overlay=pps-gpio to armbianEnv.txt. What is not clear to me, however, is how to specify which pin to use! In this thread I see windysea said: But I don't know how to use this information! I have found no documentation on param_pps_*, and my attempts at guessing based on information from other threads and resources have failed to work so far. I have been fiddling…

Hi, is there a way, how to check that image in download section is ok? I have Odroid HC4 with good PSU, both old and new card, flashed by Etcher and Rufus, keyboard plugged in USB, no SATA disks at the moment. I'm able to boot Focal 4.9 kernel (however with some errors after the boot). I've removed Petitboot with flasherase first, I've checked SHA checksum. Edit: File I've downloaded is: Armbian_20.11.6_Odroidhc4_focal_current_5.9.14.img.xz SHA: 9930f984eca2a72b3c22953ee6381c95da528b2a355dd9f429da38d1409f7b1f *Armbian_2 Any ideas what is wrong? Thank you.

I have a ToupTek MU300 USB2 camera that I was trying to get working with my LePotato. The camera does not have native kernel support, but the manufacturer provides an SDK with a pre-compiled lib for x86/arm, and additionally I have a kernel module which works on X86/X64 with this camera as well as userspace libusb based code to access the camera. The camera is very sensitive to having buffers available during bulk transfer, otherwise the image will be corrupted. Generally synchronous bulk transfer is not fast enough, and requires multiple buffers supplied in asynchronous mode. On x86-64 and Rpi3/4, everything works as expected. I can grab im…

I've recorded Armbian_20.11_Lafrite_focal_current_5.9.6.img.xz to an usb drive and booted it on La Frite with the latest firmware u-boot-2020-07-r7.bin from http://share.loverpi.com/board/libre-computer-project/libre-computer-board/aml-s805x-ac/firmware/. Armbian boots but text is almost unreadable. I guess, I have to tweak some linux boot parameters but I don't know how to do this without GRUB. I tried holding u-boot button during a launch of the board but it gives no effect. How should I edit kernel parameters on La-Frite? Is there any other solution?

Hi all. A few improvements have been made lately for the Odroid N2/N2+. HDMI sound for example. There are just a few little things I'd like to see happen to make it even better/perfect for desktop use, and for gaming when the GPU drivers for it are ready. Make HDMI resolution selectable in Armbian itself instead of in boot.ini. This would fix multiple issues. Like with mainline it always defaults to 4K on my 4K display whatever resolution I set in config.ini. The N2+ can work well at 1440p, but 4K is just too much for it. In legacy 1440p works when setting it in boot.ini. But can't be changed in Armbian itself. For gaming this will be a huge problem(on mai…

Hi, I fixed the following issue for my own system for now, but wanted to let you know: After upgrading the LaFrite from Armbian Buster 20.08 to 20.11 using "apt upgrade" it didn't boot anymore. It showed a message "Ramdisk image is corrupt or invalid", so I checked /boot/uInitrd and it linked to uInitrd-5.9.6-meson64, which didn't exist. I fixed it by downloading the latest image and replacing everything in /boot except armbianEnv.txt with what was inside the image. Afterwards it booted again. I replaced everything, because the image apperently still is on linux 5.9.6, while vmlinuz and other files on my system showed 5.9.10. …

Hi guys, I installed the latest Armbian (Buster) release for my Odroid HC4 and - after getting rid of Petitboot as that just wouldn't let me boot the image - it's working great so far. Only big problem I have is that it does not recognize any SATA devices, in neither of the two slots. I tried different HDDs / SSDs that I verified are recognized on a Windows PC and another Ubuntu PC. Did anyone get that working already? I assume the required Kernel drivers for the PCIe-Sata-chip are probably still missing. Many thanks and best regards Daniel

So, I've noticed there were some updates available, so decided to do so, now running 20.08.7 Focal / 5.8.13 kernel. Now, I did run the nand-sata-install when I first installed armbian a month ago to an external SSD and all's working perfectly. The thing is, a couple of weeks ago, even after this latest update and rebooting, the sbc won't boot up, I had to pull the plug and back about 20 times for it to boot. So this is what I found running dmesg. I have two Le Potato boards (http://ix.io/2ykP http://ix.io/2ykN), I installed Armbian Focal on them. One of the board has defective HDMI (board from Kickstarter?), it has no HDMI output. Other board was ordered from Amazon, a year later. It has HDMI output but colors are not right (white is green, black is purple, etc, HDMI image is not nice but it is usable; it is interesting that when I use HDMI to VGA adapter, colors are right; when board runs in low resolution, colors are right on HDMI too. But when resolution is high, 1950x1200, then HDMI colors are wrong - I swapped HDMI cable without any effect - is this known video driver issue??). So because only one…

Hi all, I've been searching this topic for a while but haven't found a clear answer to my question. Running an N2+, I've noticed that sometimes, in dmesg, a process will be killed due to lack of ram, this is usually when, for example, plex is busy generating video thumbnails and bazarr is syncing newly downloaded subtitles for example. This isn't as common place as such but it does happen from time to time. My armbian installation (latest ubuntu server image with latest mainline kernel) is installed to an nvme ssd, so I was wondering if enabling zswap and disabling zram would be beneficial in this case? Or can both be used at the same t…

Odroid-N2 using Armbian_20.08.1_Odroidn2_focal_current_5.8.5 I've recently got a "Connection timed out" issue. For instance, I can open files with nano, use htop, armbian-config, update and upgrade packages, but I can't reboot (everything over ssh). In that case, I booted several times and chaged boot.ini with setenv display_autodetect "false", setenv hdmimode "1080p60hz" and setenv disablehpd "true" without success. armbianmonitor -u information is attached at the end in my post where this line migh…

Hi, i use a AML-S905X-CC board and since the last kernel update, something start moving on the hardware acceleration side, i got mpv hwdec working. I would like to make some tests and start using kodi for media reproduction, but i'm scared that 256M of default cma memory is not enough. TL;DR Where in armbian build system correctly can be make N2-only related changes: 1. /boot ext4 volume have to have symlink . as boot, can be created with command ln -s ./ boot 2. kernel env variable set in boot.ini contain part but it shouldn't. This substring need to be removed if btrfs choosen. 3. /boot ext4 partition have only 4 MB free. I am not sure but think it's too small; for example there no space to run update-initramfs -u. I think it should be larger, like 500 MB. Long: I want to run my oDroid-N2 with root on BTRFS filesystem. I use manual on armbian image build and did time ./compile.sh BOARD=odroidn2 BRANCH=cur…

For the second time today on my few-days-old Odroid N2+ build with Buster desktop I have a system-wide freeze. Blue LED is constantly on and there is no response to keyboard or mouse events. Was interacting with Plex both times but I only have Plex, Tautulli and Samba server set up. I'm loath to pull the power but 30mins in to the second freeze (I pulled the plug on the first one). What should I be looking for when I get it running again?

Hi all. I've recently received the Odroid N2+. Since nobody else started a topic about it, I'll be the one. All works fine with Armbian since not much hardware changes have been made vs the N2. Except for the CPU frequency. With the Odroid Ubuntu you can set it to 2.4Ghz for the big cores A73 as overclock (2208 stock)., and 2016Mhz for the A53 cores (1908 stock). With Armbian the max clocks are 2Ghz for all cores. Using Armbian Focal 4.9 legacy. I tried setting the higher values in config.ini. Also tried with the "meson64_odroidn2_plus.dtb" file from the Odroid Ubuntu. Doesn't boot with that. (What do I know ) Other changes are the RTC b…

Hi, after the installation of the new kernel version (5.6.15-meson64) on my board (Le Potato), the display have ~1cm offset on the top of the monitor and ~1cm of non-visible element on the bottom. It is basically moved down by ~1cm from the center. I have already had this problem, but it "self solved" by updating the kernel, so i have no hint to solve the problem, only that it is very likely caused by something in the kernel. For the display i use an HDMI connector. I have attached the armbianmonitor log, if some more info are needed, you have only to ask. Thanks in advance for the time and dedicated effort. Have a good day! Edit: Wow,…

Looked at similar issue posts and followed their advice (except for running dtbo files, my guess is those were board specific). put this in my armbianEnv.txt overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 but on reboot I still get nothing in /dev/spi* my armbianmonitor wasnt working so its attached Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! armbian_monitor.txt

Hi, first of all, thanks for all the good work on supporting all these single board computer. There no exist other disto that can do it. Indeed, this is the only general purpouse linux distro that officially support Le Potato. I would like to ask some help to solve these problems that i have encountered using my board. I have searched on the forum and i have not found any post on these problems. Sorry to be vague in the title, but all these bug appeared after the kernel update, so they may be caused by the same problem. I use a Libre Computer Le Potato inside a Sunfounder Raspad kit. The system is an Armbian Stable with apt linked to Debian Sid re…

Just built some fresh le potato images from master. Error message is Wrong Ramdisk image format. Console dump here: http://ix.io/2c0y I think it's related to stuff going on here, but not sure how to troubleshoot yet https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/config/sources/families/include/meson64_common.inc#L34

Hi, I am using the Odroid N2, and I have recently switched from the Hardkernel-supplied Ubuntu Mate, to an Armbian version with kernel 5. I was hoping to combine a homemade NAS using CPU accelerated LUKS-encrypted disks with a Kodi mediacenter, and the N2 seems to have excellent properties to do both. Installing these Armbian functions immediately fixed a few problems that Hardkernel's Ubuntu had (unstable BTRFS driver, and I also see no sign of the USB3 disconnect problems that Odroid used to have). However, this version has a problem to recognize audio hardware - in the GUI, I am unable to select HDMI audio or analog audio. - Fo…

I know there is a template, but this board is already on the download page as unsupported, just ran a group of tests on it after building a full desktop image, I think we can move it to supported without any issues, the S805X is the same as an S905X with some things turned off, like comparing an H3 and an H2+. Pros: SPI contains u-boot, we don't have to do anything with that. Libre Computer updates the firmware periodically (available on their site) already supports USB boot, etc, and has a "press escape for menu" option, making it very difficult to brick. UMS mode is menu selectable (I feel like we need to look at this. I hav…

Hello, I have tested Armbian with SD card without issue. I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same using SSD. SSD is much more reliable and faster than SD card. I can do it with the Ubuntu release from Odroid using petitboot, but it seems that Armbian isn't compatible with petitboot. Thank you

On an Odroid N2 booting off emmc with latest Armbian (N2 version) and I seem to be experiencing systemd issues. That is, I am wondering about why dmesg outputs large amounts of lines like this: ... I have big problems with the network throughput on my odroid n2 after a new fresh installation of the armbian image 5.87_debian_stretch_default_4.9.177. So for know I - switched the network cable (no result and with the same cables different other computers are connected with gigabit and no problem - changed speed from 1 gbit to 100 mbit but with no successfull result on the lan switch (no problems with all other connections on this hp lan switch!) - did some small "…

I am trying the first releases of armbian on my new odroid n2 and would like also to test openmediavault which should be available with 3rd party option on armbian-config. But at the moment this software option is not available. Is there a reason for this, maybe the device is very new and not tested for the moment?

Hello Le Potato hackers, I have a small favor to ask of you: I just wrote a Howto cross-compile mainline u-boot for your "Le Potato" (actually it's supposed to be for the La Frite when this starts shipping, but right now it's for the Le Potato) Here: http://wiki.loverpi.com/faq:sbc:libre-aml-s805x-howto-compile-u-boot Since I don't have a Le Potato I cannot verify that my HOWTO really produces a working u-boot, so I would be very grateful if any one of you could spend around 20 minutes of their (very valuable, without any doubt) time to follow the step-by-step instructions and check it out? What you need: An x86_64 PC/Laptop…

If I do i2cdetect -y 0 I don't see the device id I expect to 0x10 but I do see 0x30 and 0x50 which I shouldn't because there should only be one device at 0x10. I only see one i2c bus at /dev/i2c-0. Is that the i2c bus using header pins 3 and 5 which is where my device is attached? If not how would I enable the bus on pins 3 and 5?

I think it would make sense to rename the forum section here from "Amlogic S905(x)" to "Amlogic". It would make much more sense for me to talk here for example about the Armbian port of the Odroid C0/C1/C1+ (Amlogic S805) then in any other forum section.

I was curious if anyone had worked on power management for the S905X. My Le Potato was idling around 0.32A@5.1V = ~1.5W The LibreElec guys documented idle current ~2/3 of that here so I was curious what was going on. Of course I am running a 4.18 armbian kernel (I assume they were using a 3.14 kernel for their tests) so I was never going to match their numbers precisely, but 33% more power seemed like an awful lot. Then I realized I had a USB thumb-drive installed, so I did some experimentation... My numbers were generated using an inline USB power meter that measures pretty accurately compared to a bench meter. My initial findings: …

Using kernel 4.14.65, I get a usb-driver crash when accessing the top left port (topmost, nearest the ethernet port) of the Le potato. Good Morning, I would like to Power ON or Wake the Board by IR Remote. However I cannot find instructions anywhere on how to enable the IR wake or what the code is for wake etc. Can you please point me in the right direction? From: https://loverpi.com/blogs/news/first-look-at-libre-computer-board-aml-s905x-cc-le-potato-hardware-overview it states: IR Shutdown works but then I cannot wake the board by IR. Thank you for any help and for all the time the developers donate to this. Much appreciated.

I am trying to use Le Potato OTG port in a device mode (connected it to the host through powered USB hub). DWC2, which I am used to from RPi Zero is missing, but I guess it's because there is a DWC3. Hello, i've tried the actually armlogic Image for my six le potatos. (https://dl.armbian.com/lepotato/Ubuntu_xenial_next_desktop.7z) In the first step it looks ok. But then a lot of strange things happens. Some of them where starting, some not, and when they started after some time the whole system brokes (looks lik…

Dear all, first, as being new here: Many thanks to all the work that went into this! Now, here's my problem on Le Potato, which I have with armbian and LibreELEC: As soon as I copy anything large to any media, some services (SSH, Samba, Kodi, tvheadend - all of them network dependent) crash after writing something between 200 and 700 MB - not always at the same point. So anything like cp /some/huge/file /home/me crashes the services. Something like this: cp /some/huge/file /dev/null is no problem. I tried writing to SD as well as to USB, and I tried via network (scp from another machine into Le Potato…

Hello, I'm new to this world of SBC. I'm trying to learn as much as possible, and I realize maybe I should have started with a better documented board like the rPI. I guess I just like learning the hard way. I'm trying to use the GPIO pins on the board. Starting with baby steps, I'm looking to just simply turn on/off an LED via GPIO. I've been searching and poking around the /sys filesystem to try to understand how this works, but I'm having a hard time understanding which pins to expose via the export file, and what physical pins those map to. I see /sys/class/gpio/ has two chips, 0 and 10. I see gpiochip0 has 10 pins, and gpiochip10 has 101. Is t…

Sorry if I ask, but I can't seem to find an actual definitive answer anywhere about this. EDIT: Please don't trust in the numbers appearing at the top of this thread. Obviously there were bootloader/firmware issues that needed to be resolved and afterwards Potato performance will be somewhat higher. Since I didn't find numbers may I ask owners of the device ( @Igor, @TonyMac32 ?) to run 4 quick benchmarks? Two times openssl, 7-zip and tinymembench. Please comment also which clockspeeds and which distro you used (Xenial preferred). Thanks!

So, I've been struggling to figure out the reason behind this problem. I have 4 Le Potatoes, all connected to a 100 mbps switch. Each of them have a 32 GB Samsung SD Card EVO. Initially, the problem was that my SSH session would hang at random usually when I download something. I can't SSH again unless I reboot the PI (I didn't bother waiting longer than 5min) Initially, I thought SD Cards were bad, I moved them around, done reinstalls. I'm also using SD Formatter to format them and Etcher to install them. Still, this freezing problem had no consistent behavior according to PI hardware or the SD cards.. For Power, I'm u…

I got the Le Potato Ubuntu server image up and running. Then installed the Mate desktop environment. Most everything is working fine, but the system freezes hard at times, mostly when I try to run several large programs concurrently. Problem with memory? Also, some resolutions have the refresh rate set at 68.5 Hz that don't work on most of my monitors. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the work you guys put into it, and I look forward to the continuing progress!
