  1. Hello, So I have ODROID C2 running latest Armbian bionic with kernel 5.6.11-meson64 #trunk.130. I have a Quectel E25 4G LTE modem connected via USB port. Everything works like a charm - BUT - whenever I try to download (or upload) even small amounts of data, I get kernel panic and the process hangs. Sometimes, the whole device crashes. It happens only when I try to download or upload data. Even trying to paste large amount of text into a terminal text editor causes kernel panic. This does NOT happen if I'm connected via ethernet. Here's the dmesg (while I was trying to wget a file) - [ 155…

  2. Started by ulrichD,

I'm currently running Armbian 5.60 on an Odroid C2. Tried the new mainline kernel version (5.71) on the weekend and everything looked fine at first, but when I got to starting one of my docker containers, it failed. This container uses armhf binaries. Is there some way of enabling armhf support with the new mainline kernel builds of Armbian, or do I need a custom build now? I installed docker via armbian-config. As far as I can remember, I did not have to do anything special to get this working on the 3.x kernel build... Any pointers in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks and best regards, Ulr…

  3. Hi , i buiild a SPDIF connector like shown here: https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?t=21477 it uses the J7 SPDIF output which is connected to HDMI. On coreelec i can clearly see a HDMI soundcard output with aplay -L , i dont see that on armbian.... Is odroid c2 spdif output on armbian working ? why do i not see this soundcard that f.e. libreelec is showing ( i have 2 odroid c2s , one is running coreelec in my living room with HDMI connector working) im using a little older armbian distro since the latest has ethernet issues on C2 (im using 20.11 , kernel 5.9.10 debian edition ) regards, Simon

I have tried putting the toolchain in /opt/toolchains (like odroid's wiki states) and also in the build script's directory under toolchains. 6. I'm running Armbian from a emmc 16GB card. When I use the web browser the mouse constantly flickers, is there any way to get this to stop? Is there a graphics driver I should have enabled? When I select Additional Hardware Drivers none show up, so maybe there isnt a GPU accelerated driver available. Also switching between desktops feels sluggish. Maybe Im expecting too much performance from a $50 SBC. Thanks for your help & time in making this distribution. Im just looking to make the best user experience possible.

  13. Hi, with my Odroid C2 I experience a strange behaviour regarding Armbian Updates. It seems the networking in Armbian 5.59 is messed up. It creates a eth0 adapter (disabled) and Wired network 1 adapter. You can delete these in nmtui, but they always return. I had the same issue with NanoPi Duo using mainline Stable. I can get it to work a bit using armbian-config, removing all interfaces and configuring IP, but it gets screwed up again. I cannot trust to run 5.59 headless because I have no way to get into the SBC without hooking video back up.

  36. Thanks to g4751 for doing the tests for Odroid-HC4. The tests for the Odroid-C2 were performed by myself. Tests were performed on Armbian 24.08 Official releases. Fix is to add a section to the DTB to enable a recently (last year) added kernel driver "meson64-reboot" that is an updated version of the "odroid-reboot" in older kernels. For Odroid-C2: - save your existing DTB - use DTC to convert DTB->DTS - modify the DTS with the code below - use DTC to convert DTS->DTB - reboot (will fail because new DTB not loaded yet) - POR (will now load the new DTB) - log-in - reboot should now work. …

If add the script to the boot.ini a few lines, you can run images from a USB drive. Now I want to install fail2ban and mc, but with the original 'sources.list' for apt there's no way to to that via apt-get. Will I run into difficulties if I change the 'sources.list' to the normal Debian ones and make my installations, updates and upgrades from there? Frank

Do I just make a vfat partition on /dev/mmcblk0 (the emmc) and copy the /boot folder over to /dev/mmcblk0p1, and run dd again to put the arbian.img on /dev/mmcblk0p2? I only test on my OdroidC2 so this find may affect more. As repeatedly mentioned, the C2 has usb detect issues. For us, a main culprit not discussed yet is the default kernel config. Having both: CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED=Y CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=Y For USB1.1, these should be one or the other, never both. Mainline has: CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=Y and CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED is not set. For the OdroidC2, CONFIG_USB_OHCI_HCD=N is proper. As it has no OHCI and USB2 handles that for us. Forcing the USB power on state has helped workaround this issue, by keeping the driver tied to the device in the kernel.

The monitor is capable of 1920x1200, and it all works fine except for the cursor not being visible. I've tried various escape codes, etc. Nano never displays a cursor. When I log in via SSH the cursor is plainly visible. I'm trying to configure the WiFi, which doesn't seem to want to work if the ethernet is connected, so I'm stuck at the tty terminal. Is there a path to migrate my Odroid C2 installation from odrobian to armbian with minimum downtime ? On my OrangePI3 I booted the operating system from micro sd card and told armbian bionic that the eMMC memory will only be used as a boot loader while the rootfs of the actual operating system is installed on a connected USB stick. Is it the same with the Armbian Bionic for the Odroid C2 version? Or is it the case that the future operating system is written directly to the eMMC memory and booted from there? Hi, just to let you know, I changed from "next" to "current", and found some quirks in the "current" kernel (using "buster"). (1) uart_C is not working (already fixed by martinayotte, thanks for the fast response!) (2) microSD card behaves strange: you can boot from uSD card, that works. When booting from eMMC card, the uSD clot is "dead", card insertation is not recognized anymore, it can't be used. Michael

  88. Hello Guys, i am running an Odroid C2 with the latest Armbian based on debian Bullseye. As disk i am using an 8GB emmc flash drive. For longlive reasons i am thinking about to reduce the read or more important the write access to that drive. I know, that every SD card and also every EMMC flash drive got a certain amount of write access and then its dead... So i am ask you what can i do to reduce read/write: - move logs to external usb? - activate ZRAM? - disable cache...? - tmpfs? I am just at the beginning of this, so kindly let me know if you guys have some well know hints. Thanks JM

Hi, after a very successful deployment last year we will start a new sub sea C2 deployment next year (next to the old installation, in Northern Pacific, down at 2600m). Things work out nicely, but now we reached a state where some help from experts is welcome. I need to include some changes into the filesystem generated by Armbian build system, and hope someone can give me a hint on how to do it best way: - include some packages into the image (list available) - add some files to /etc/udev/rules.d/ - add some lines to /etc/rc.local - have a preinstalled user plus home directory (optional) Any help is appr…

Hello everyone, I am evaluating the purchase of an SBC (the Radxa Zero seems to be the best equipment, power / consumption) for one of my projects, but I cannot find reliable sources regarding the consumption of the SBCs. Have any of you carried out extensive tests?

Hi all, I'm new to Linux and trying to set up a music server using my Odroid C2/Armbian/Cantata/MPD/HDMI sound. Got Armbian 5.60 (Stretch) 4.18.8 installed. Cantata sees the small test music library I set up on the C2 and appears to play tracks as the progress bar moves. I get no sound from the C2 connected HDMI monitor. (for initial testing only, i2s + DAC/Amp later). I tried the same set up using the Odroid Ubuntu/Mate desktop image a few days back and it worked straight out of the box. My suspicion is that the audio output settings in the mpd.conf are not correct (mpd 0.19.21). For HDMI sound output, does my version of Armbian use Pul…

I just got a mystery box from Ameridroid that contained a ODROID-GO-Ultra. Hardkernel has an old Ubuntu 20.04 image. Does Armibian support this device?

Hi, i had a little problem with root login on C2. It gives a message about "/usr/local/bin/temper" file absent and goes to restart. Problem solved by installation "armhf" architecture (temper file is present but compiled for 32 bit). thank you very much for your work.

After the last "sudo apt upgrade" my odroid C4 (meson) doesn't reboot properly anymore. In the system out there are many lines like: "Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... mdadm: No arrays found in config file or automatically done." and one : "mdadm: error opening /dev/md?*: No such file or directory mdadm: No arrays found in config file or automatically /scripts/local-block/mdadm: 58: /scripts/local-block/mdadm: rm: not found" at the end: "Gave up waiting for root file system device. 98. Hello I'm running debian bullseye on an Odroid C4 since quite some time now and decided it was a good time to upgrade to bookworm. When I first installed armbian on this board, I remember that I had to install the Odroid HC4 image. If I'm not mistaking, there were no C4 image at the time. After upgrading my current bullseye firmware with armbian-config ( and by passing the SSD issue described in this armbian forum post by hot plugging it ), I noticed that /boot/armbianEnv.txt had this line: fdtfile=amlogic/meson-sm1-odroid-hc4.dtb whereas the amlogic/meson-sm1-odroid-c4.dtb file exists in the /boot/dtb directory. Despite having read…
