I am working on a project with armbian 23.8.1 embedded in a banana pi m2 zero. I need to use the spi 0 with the two select chips. When I initialize I can only initialize spidev0.0 or spidev 0.1. There is no way that can initialize both. Configure the armbianEnv.txt file with the following parameters: overlays= spi-add-cs1 spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 param_spidev_spi_cs=1 Also try other combinations and nothing. Then try to modify the .dtb file by adding cs-gpios and changing status = "okay" but it doesn't work

I have board which has 2 slaves on the SPI bus, requiring ce0 and ce1. My system: Armbian 23.8.1 Bookworm with Linux 6.1.47-current-sunxi I applied overlays: spi-add-cs1 and spi-spidev, there's an spi in the system. As soon as I apply spi-double-spidev-bus.dts, the spi disappears. Hi all, I have a Nano Pi Neo Core board with Armbian 5.15.93, and I want to upgrade it to 6.1. I ran the "armbian-config", and selected the new version linux-image-edge-sunxi=23.02.2 based on kernel 6.1.11-sunxi. After the update the board does not boot anymore. Further investigation shows that the original "/boot" folder was looking like this: And after the upgrade, I get this: A "uInitrd" symlink is broken, the "uInitrd-6.1.11-sunxi" file is missing, and obviously, the board cannot boot. Question N1: where can I get the proper "uInitrd-6.1.11-sunxi" file? I cannot find it online,…

I'm connecting my Orange PI PC 3.5mm jack to this power amp: HiLetgo 5pcs PAM8403 2x 3W Mini Digital Power Amplifier Board AMP Class D 2.5-5V Input If I connect a 5v 2a power supply to the amp and a 3a 5v power supply to the Orange PI PC, it sounds great with no noise form the Orange PI and no distortion from the amp power supply. If I try to run the amp from the 5v pins on the Orange PI PC with the 3amp 5v supply, it will work, but there is a lot of noise from the main board and the amp does not get enough power to run properly. Should 3a be enough to run both these peripherals? I think the power amp will pull about 600ma, not sure what the Orange PI…

I'm on an Orange PI PC running Armbian_23.08.0-trunk_Orangepipc_bullseye_edge_6.5.1_minimal I've enabled analog audio out the 3.5mm jack using overlays=analog-codec in /boot/armbianEnv.txt I'm connecting the analog 3.5mm jack to a 3watt amp & speakers. It works mostly, but I only get audio on the left channel. Alsa mixer Line Out only allows one channel to be unmuted at a time - left channel or right channel. Left channel sounds pretty good (DAC reversed appears to increase dynamic output). Right channel is very low volume and appears to be "squelched" - is the audio signal reversed from ground or something? Anyway, is there some …

Hello there. I'm trying to set up GPIO pins PD15 and PD16 on my OrangePi 3 LTS to work as input pins using device tree overlays. Hello. I have problem with SSH on Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Orange Pi 3 LTS. Orange seems like booting ok, DHCP works too, since I see Pi's IP in my router settings, also I can ping it, and I'm 100% sure its Pi's IP since I have only my PC connected to LAN. I waited for 5 mins, and still couldn't connect to SSH. I tried to do port scan on Pi's IP and nmap says that only 5555 port is open. I am using 2A Adapter, so there should be no power issues. as per title, armbian sucks. The last version is totally broken, unusable. Only one quarter of the screen is readable, the rest is black: why nobody has said that? Why nobody says that vlc and mpv crashes every 2 min making watching a movie impossible? The once half-decent armbian is ready for the bin now

Hi, I recently purchased a Banana Pi M2 zero, and I can't seem to get the OTG port to work with any kind of operating system. I have tried all of the normal remedies like cable issues, power supply, etc. With no luck. I know Armbian is usually the best OS for these little boards, but I can't seem to get a keyboard or mouse to work with it. Although it boots up just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just run an "sudo apt upgrade" and my 22.05 system was upgraded to 23.8.1 As a result WiFi stopped working. The wireless interface disappeared and can not be configured with armbian-config. On the positive side it seems like the load bug is now fixed, load can now be 0.0.0 at its lowest as opposed to 1.1.1 before. is there a way to revert back to the old kernel with Armbian?

The topic is no longer new, but I have not found the reason and its solution! If you turn off the power (just pull out the wire) then you can get a non-working system. As I noticed, the files opened at the time of launch are broken. And some files such as /etc/boot/armbianEnv.txt in general, they are recorded with some kind of garbage!!! Because of this, your settings fly off! For example, I use ttys1 and this option is registered armbianEnv.txt , but after the power loss, there is just terrible garbage in this file, as if the memory dump fell there!!! For example, I still use dotnet, so it also breaks down and does not start anymore!! When y…

After flashing the sd card with armbian and booting it, it asks me to enter the root password, however the keyboard that is plugged in isnt detected and nothing is typed on the screen. Ive already tried bookworm and jammy, both cli and minimal-cli variants. It is not a keyboard or usb related issue, i tested it with an older version of armbian and the keyboard still works.

Hello, I bought an orange pi plus 2 and connected it to the power supply, the android that is already installed recognized the mouse and keyboard without any problem. I tried to boot the ARMbian using the version I was given, the orange pi plus 2e version, because there is no direct support for the orange pi plus 2. The BOOt works without any problem, but when I create the user, the system doesn't recognize my keyboard or mouse and I get stuck on the creating user screen. I'm using a 5V/3A power supply and a bluetooth mouse. Can anyone tell me if this is a kernel bug or am I using the wrong version to BOOT?

Hi, I use an OrangePi Zero as a race timer for a car. It is powered from the car. So when the car starts the OrangePi gets power and boots and when the car is turned off the OrangePi loses power and "turns off". This isn't ideal but I don't have a lot of options. I feel like this is a fairly common use case for electronics in cars especially ones like race timers etc. Unless I have a battery as well. I was wondering what are the best things to do to protect against the sudden power loss so that I don't corrupt anything? Is it possible to make parts of the file system read only maybe? All I do with the OrangePi is run a C++ application, it use…

Hi there! I've recently configured the ov5640 camera overlay and was able to capture videos either with mjpg-streamer of ffmpeg. Now on 6.1.34 both causes now a kernel oops. From the stack trace it looks like it happens inside v4l2 "media_pad_remote_pad_first" Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000030 ... ... PC is at media_pad_remote_pad_first+0xa/0x58 I don't think v4l2 is the root cause because this may mean it fails alle the time which is unlikely. Looks like a null ptr gets passed in into media_pad_remote_pad_first ffmpeg used like this, but other parameters all resulting in the kernel oop…

Hi there! I've just compiled from armbian buil tools a new image for Orange Pi 3 LTS. Then flash it on sdcard, anything was well, but armbian doesn't start at all. Nothing on the HDMI, nothing on the debug serial. Also LED doesn't light. I've tried two images: ubuntu jammy with GNOME and next case XFCE. Both cases didn't work. I've downloaded prebuilt image from armbian.org and it starts well. In my opinion, some problem with custom images in u-boot. but I don't know how to give a diagnosis.

Initially I attempted upgrading the kernel from 6.1.26 to 6.1.33 using the build scripts to generate the newer kernel and headers. After rebooting I found that the system just appeared to hang around starting kernel. I did wait 10 minutes at first, thinking that perhaps their maybe some stuff going on in the background but after that conclude that it had most certainly crashed. The frustrating thing being that I did not appear to get any errors come through the debug port. At this point I assumed that perhaps something may have broke during the upgrade. My second attempt was using a completely fresh compiled image but unfortunately the result was still the same. …

Hello, I'm working on a project which include a microcontroller and a NanoPi NEO Core running Armbian FriendlyCore distribution. The NanoPi is wired to the µcontroler ICSP which can reset the µcontroller for update purpose. The allwinner H3 datasheet state that the GPIOA6 (the one linked to ICSP) should start with HIGH-Z and no resistance pulling, it seems to do so but a few second after reboot it seems to go low as all other GPIO... resulting in an unwanting reset of the µcontroller. Is there a way to change this by setting the default state somewhere in the system, or should I have to use dts files or core compilation ? Any solution would be appreciated. …

Hi all, I'm new here and somewhat new to "modern Linux"..I'm more a BSD Guy... I'm using, administering and programming on unices since approx 1992, using FreeBSD (mostly) at home, my wife has a Laptop using Mint installed by me, but I haven't put much effort into my Linux experiences since systemd came up... Ok, approx 2 years before I've got a bunch of more or less unusual embedded HW..Beaglebone, Olinuxino with an A10, some Intel based thingy and something from AnalogDevices if I remember correctly. All of them are more or less old. Now I want to build a kind of a home automation appliance that is reading out data f…

Hello, I'm trying the currently offered Armbian Bookworm images for the Orange Pi Prime, using kernels 6.1.30 and 6.2.16, and notice that there is no support for SoC temperature monitoring, neither in armbianmonitor, nor in /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/. Here is the debug info from 6.2.16: https://paste.armbian.com/cetovulubu Is that a known issue? An older Armbian image that I have downloaded previously, using the kernel 5.15.93, shows the temperature just fine.

Attention, whatever you do next is at your own risk! Fixed dts overlay file for Armbian 23.02.2 (attached). 1. Now the system can fall asleep and wake up by a timer (without an external RTC, provided that it is powered) or by pressing a button - while wifi connects itself (if there is an automatic connection) and the system continues to work as if nothing had happened without unnecessary loading. 2. As a bonus, I added an indication of reading from a flash card as a red LED (this can be turned off). 3. I also activated the host on the micro-usb connector - now you can connect something else via the otg adapter as a third USB connector. To apply t…

Hi! I have banana pro, 5.15.93-sunxi #23.02.2 (bullseye), and use internal wifi adapter as a wifi client. The medium btw my client and ap is instable, there are frequent rate changes (6Mbps...54Mbps), so in order to get rid of it I need to set mandatory wifi rate no more than 6 Mbps. Give me the hint, please: 1. To set wifi rate strictly to 6 Mbps. I had tried iwconfig wlan0 rate 6M - I got "Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported." . 2. Hello everyone, I encountered an issue while using SPI with my Orange Pi 3 LTS, and now I'm going to share some solutions. Perhaps the Armbian Team can assist me in resolving the final problem. These tests were conducted on Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.93-sunxi64. The initial step I took to ensure the appearance of `spidev` on the Orange Pi 3 LTS was to include these configurations in `/boot/armbianEnv.txt`. overlays=spi-spidev1 param_spidev_spi_bus=0 param_spidev_spi_cs=0 Note: If `spi-spidev` and `spi-spidev1` are added together, it will not work, and the `spidev` will not appear when using the `ls /dev/sp*` command. …

Hello! Brand new user here to the NanoPi Neo and even the forum. I'm planning to use a NanoPi Neo as hardware "interactor", the main idea is to connect a NanoPi Neo to a smartphone (Android or iOS), power the board from the USB cable and work in Host Mode to interact with de smartphone with libimobiledevice or adb. OTG does not support charging + data at the same time without a "special" OTG adapter. What I want to do is power the NanoPi by using the smartphone and even interact with it in host mode, like a regular computer will do, in simple terms, using a single cable, but getting power from it. Is this possible using NanoPi microUSB+OT…

ARMBIAN 5.41 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.34-sunxi, Orange Pi Zero board. Very limited Debian installed, wifi doesn't work. Hi gang. I am having a consistent problem changing the board over boot from the SD with the system on any kind of USB attached drive. The drive I want to put it on is a 1t ssb, which otherwise formats fine, over and over again, burns images on it fine (though rpi doesn't like how much power it grabs). But I duplicated the problem with a formatted SD card in a reader in the USB port as well. The same error message appeared. Now I have to say that I have read this post here: to see if there was anything unique to the H3 to accomplish this, but Igor said there to just follow the simple directions at Getting Started, which though dated, still work close…

I did try the latest Armbian 23.5 Bookworm on my banana pi m2 zero with allwinner h3 chip and I couldn't get the USB OTG port working (i. e. no keyboard recognition) and eth0 also did not work. Currently I receive rustc crashes after memory usage get to 3GB (1GB RAM + 2GB SWAP) when building firefox. After looking around why, I found that kernel isn't build with lpae extension. Although H3 soc supports lpae (Large Physical Address Extension), but kernel has CONFIG_ARM_LPAE flag not set and so we can't use more than 3GB of memory (1GB is reserved for kernel). (Processors that implement the ARMv7-A Large Physical Address Extension (LPAE), expand the range of accessible physical addresses from 4GB (232 bytes) to 1024GB (240 bytes) a terabyte, by translating 32-bit virtual memory addresses into 40-bit physical memory addresses.) Hello, long time Banana Pi user here. I have a BPI-M2+ and recently decided to write Armbian_23.02.2_Bananapim2plus_bullseye_current_5.15.93_minimal.img to emmc. I am using cat6 over gigabit LAN and am seeing scp and rsync transfers to the device averaging 1.7mb/s. Transfering an 850mb file took unusually several minutes. It starts off at 40mb/s then quickly drops to under 2mb/s. Is this typical? I would think over LAN I would be seeing much faster speeds. Untarring this same 850mb archive also took unusually long. Could the emmc be damaged or on it's way out? How would I check? Please see armbianmonitor output. https://pastebin.com/RCa…

Can anyone provide any information on getting the GPU driver working with a Banana Pi M2 Zero? It supposedly has a Mali 400 GPU. In my tests, it seems I am stuck with Mesa software rendering with OpenGL. When I write a program that creates an OpenGL 2.0 ES context, the vendor and renderer both list Mesa and performance is terrible (2-10 fps and GLSL shaders are incorrect) when rendering even the simplest scenes. I am using DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) with boots straight to a CLI and no desktop environment if that makes any difference. With the same code and same conditions on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, OpenGL works perfectly in my tests. I am usin…

The 1-bay NAS kit v1.2 has an RTC with option to add CR2032 button cell to keep HW time when system is shut down. But running `timedatectl` when device is booted in offline mode shows RTC is set to 1970-01-01 00:00:00 which defeats the purpose of having the option of CR2032. And yes, the button cell have juice; I've bought it a week ago and tested it before putting it in the kit.

I'm a newbie. Got the NanoPi R1 that sports a UART but no Video Output. Now when I want to read the output of the serial console I need a 3-wire cable and a converter, that much I know. But what is the baud rate? Where is this configured on the armbian NanoPiR1 image (on my raspberry Pi I just checked and found the file /boot/cmdline.txt with that settings, in my case it's 115200) Why is the baud rate nowhere documented? On the download page https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r1/ it is stated that "serial console is enabled on UART1, which is exposed on chasis" , but no hint about which speed to use. There neither is any info about the baud rate on…

I can't set up gpio-poweroff feature described here. I tried made overlays from here and here - no effect. U-boot boots with no errors. Then i am tried to edit DT (armbian-config > System > Dtc), - manually add node at pinctrl@1c20800: Скрытый текст pwr_off_pins: pwr_off_pins { pins = "PA21"; function = "gpio_out"; }; and node at "/": Скрытый текст gpio-poweroff { compatible = "gpio-poweroff"; pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&pwr_off_pins>; gpios = <&pio 0 21 0>; }; …

Good morning, I'm trying to activate PWM by hardware to use wiringpi. I activate the PWM option from Armbian config hardware, but it doesn't seem to have any effect, and UART0 doesn't seem to be deactivated. I'm not sure if there's any issue or if I'm doing something else wrong. The build is Armbian 22.11.1 Jammy with Linux 5.15.80-sunxi. Thanks for the help!
