I was getting kernel panics and discovered that my 32 GB Rock 5B Blue Edition just crashes when I try to malloc 8-9 gigabtes of memory. Is there a way to specify that this board has 32 GB ram? 5.10 works fine.

Hello everyone, Hello everyone, I have installed Armbian Bookworm 23.11.1 (kernel 5.10.110). The fan control does not work. The fan only runs at level 1. None of the many patches I tried worked. The last one tried was this: https://forum.radxa.com/t/guide-on-how-to-customize-you-pwm-fan-curve/17442 I can adjust the fan manually, but the automatic doesn't work. 3. Since I am interested in the connection ability, I figured the info we gather should go into ONE thread. I have tried to build new kernels, but can only see USB controllers and devices two ports. I have seen a lot of work by Sebasitian Reichel @ Collabora, and his patches, but these do not seem to have the desired result on my test board. Orange PI 5. There seems to be an issue with the port mux, FUSB302, that either connects the last USB to the "vertical" port or to the "USB C" connector. I will comment my findings and attempts to correct this in this thread, and think we could find out where we are if you add your findings, successes…

Basically to keep the long story short, I have a custom board with RK3566 and 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB Samsung emmc on it ... basically if you are familliar it is a Linxdot Helium miner which has some problems with the onboard Lora module. 7. Hi there, I'm setting up microk8s cluster on: 2 x RockPi 4A (Linux 6.1.63-current-rockchip64) 2 x Rock 5 B (Linux 5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx) Installing microk8s and connecting cluster went without issue. The problem is that mayastor require linux-modules-extra which is not build for my kernel versions. I tried few different kernels but this module is not present there as well. I saw it's marked "TODO" on https://gitlab.collabora.com/hardware-enablement/rockchip-3588/notes-for-rockchip-3588/-/blob/main/mainline-status.md . So in 6.9 perhaps? (A LOT of other stuff works remarkably well though, great work!)

I went to setup a second one on another TV but this time the TV remote did not work properly. Through elimination I came to determine the HDMI cable was the issue. I ordered another HDMI cable that had the Ferrite at each side of the cable. Now it worked properly. Thought this might be useful for others. This is the cable I ordered: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B003PDHJ6M Conclusion: In order to make HDMI-CEC work properly, make sure the HDMI cable is of sufficient quality. I think ones with the Ferrite may be b…

    Hi all! There's a dedicated RTC chip in Rock3A (HYM8563TS), but unfortunately it doesn't work right with the standard Armbian image. The chip is correctly identified, but the problem is with the RK809 PMIC, which also contains an RTC. During boot RK809 is labeled as rtc0, and HYM8563TS as rtc1, and by default kernel uses rtc0 for hwclock manipulations. Since RTC battery is connected to HYM8563TS, after power cycle RK809 is reset to 2017-08-05 09:00:00. | _ \ ___ ___| | __ |___ / / \ | |_) / _ \ / __| |/ / |_ \ / _ \ | _ < (_) | (__| < ___) / ___ \ |_| \_\___/ \___|_|\_\ |____/_/ \_\ Welcome to Armbian 23.11.1 Bookwo…

Hello! Just wondered if an armbian image was planned for the Odroid M1S? Thank you in advance!

  23. I first made a self-built image for nanopi-r2s and everything is fine. But another self-built image of Nanopi-R2S seems refuse to boot after enabling these configurations: `DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT`, then `DEBUG_INFO_BTF` and `MODULE_ALLOW_BTF_MISMATCH` But the LED on RJ45 blinks, and I can ping the IP that I get from my router DHCP, but SSH connection refused. So I guess it may have booted, but refuse SSH connection. I have no TTL serial connections yet, I'll check it and post the logs here some time later. Can anybody help? How can I enable ssh with? Is it possible to enable it at build stage? Thanks.

Dear Armbians I have a NanoPi Neo 3 board with 1GB of RAM running in a DC for quite a while now. Because of an SD card failure, I had to make a fresh setup with the actual Bookworm image. This image seems to be quite unstable. Device is going up and down all the time. I am unable to find the problem myself. Maybe someone can take a look and help me to fix my stability issue: Debug output: https://paste.armbian.com/sozozoyahi

Hi, I have an issue with an USB device which is not detected; looking on other forum, it seems that additional modules shall be added: - cdc_acm,cdc_ether - rndis_host - rndis_wlan - usbnet I'm not able to load these using the modprobe cmd & checking loaded modules with lsmode cmd. I suspect that they are not part of the kernel. Any hint how to solve this, eventually recompile / install ? Thanks by advance, Samuel

  53. I successfully booted this one and connected over Ethernet. Haven't checked WiFi yet. However, the observation comparing to the original Rockchip's Jammy image: the serial port goes quiet after the U-Boot fires up the kernel. The bootloader on the board and the _original_ kernel use non-standard 1500000 baudrate serial speed for the console. I haven't looked into Armbian's guts yet, but I assume it's a matter of right kernel boot arguments for this board to actually spit out kernel output over serial. What I'm not sure is if the console can be cloned between serial and UI over HDMI (console on the frame buffer if I'm right). I'm open to…

My audio volume was very very low, and very annoyingly I had to boost to 200% 300% which had the problem that the volume buttons were not working properly. You just cant see anything above 100% unless you go into the control panel. Now when it comes to audio I'm the village idiot, but I found a proper solution I think. After some experimentation I found that the module "module-cli-protocol-unix" ( #20 in my case) can be amplified with pactl set-sink-input-volume 20 10db Now YMMV depending on your attached hardware, so change the 10db to whatever suits your situation. I've been looking into streaming on the Orange Pi's, which doesn't work, so I thought I would share my findings. I was first told by customer service people that the problem was HDCP, but have found that it is actually the camera. The tech was kind enough to slip that the camera module doesn't have their hooks. I can still view in the browser, and this leaves me to the conclusion that TV boxes and Smart TVs are using the camera modules to record end users without their permission. If the system has the camera hooks, the app is allowed to play. The browser bypasses this, because it has permissions to access private information on our device…

I don't expect an answer at this point but FYI, the eMMC on a Rock5a and latest image does not work properly. It mounts and as soon as you start writing, errors occurs and the FS (ext4) is remounted RO. It happens whether I mount and write manually or I use the armbian-config to transfer the system on the eMMC. Using the Debian distro of radxa, I can write as much as I want on the eMMC w/o errors, so it does not seem to be a failed module, rather something in the armbian kernel. 2023-10-10T17:05:03.106367-07:00 rock-5a kernel: [62335.087809] Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0p1, logical block 648585 2023-10-10T17:05:04.109720-07:00 rock-5a kernel: [62336.091…

I saw the link in the 5B section to download the 5A which directs me here https://mirror-us-phx1.armbian.airframes.io/dl/rock-5a/archive/ to a 23.8.3. But I can't find any other desktop version except the XFCE one. Now, if I go there https://k-space.ee.armbian.com/archive/rock-5a/archive/ I have a cinnamon desktop version but it's a 23.5. Is there no build for 23.8 + cinnamon or is this a mirror issue? Or is the Rock5A not yet officially supported and I should move my question?
