I ran an update on my orangpi PC2. Setting up armbian-zsh (24.5.1) ... cp: cannot create directory '/home/unifi/.oh-my-zsh': No such file or directory cp: cannot create regular file '/home/unifi/.zshrc': No such file or directory chown: cannot access '/home/unifi/.oh-my-zsh': No such file or directory chown: cannot access '/home/unifi/.zshrc': No such file or directory Witch is to be expected to fail, because that is a system user I accedentally gave an above 1000 UID Unifi is UID 1003, my regular user bedna (1000) is the owner of /home/bedna I don't mind, I don't use zsh anyway, but figured you would want to know about this. …

So I am following instructions for how to install Kiauh on Arbmian. I am using a terminal on my PC through PuTTY. I have cloned the Kiauh files to my device successfully, I have verified they are there, but whenever I try to run the shell using sh ./kiauh/kiauh.sh I get the response 'unknown': I need something more specific. This is the least useful error message I have ever seen. I can't find anyone having had this issue and I am dead in the water. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I have now been able to build server images for Raspberry Pi 5B and Radxa 5C, both having gpu hardware driver support. However, this only works with Ubuntu Noble as a distro base. I would also like to make Debian Bookworm images, but when I do, I never get any gpu hardware driver support. Why is that? What's so special about Ubuntu (which basically is Debian)?

Hi everyone, I'm working on a bunch of arm boards, where I installed armbian on the eMMC I'm trying to re-flash some of them, via SD and then via nand-sata-install, but something is wrong A fresh SD works, as in: boot from SD run nand-sata-install select eMMC run and wait But as soon as I try to do it a second time, on a second board, it breaks, meaning that nand-sata-install doesn't show any storage device, while /dev/mmc* it's recognized from linux (image 1) INFO: Armbian monitor log $ uname -a Linux rockpi-s 6.0.10-rockchip64 #22.11.1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Nov 30 11:20:25 UTC 2022 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Hi Unfortunately, I use an Odroid N2 (and N2+) for nextcloud installed via the nextcloudpi script. Now, the support is gone and there are no longer updates for nextcloud beyond version 30.0.x available. Currently I am running nextcloud 30.0.17. The version 30.0.x will reach end-of-support soon. I can imagine the following alternatives: Use armbian-config to install nextcloud - but will it do the update correctly or at all esp. for my external disks which nextcloud is using ? Use the image for the Odroid C2 (another arm-based SBC) and replace the kernel by the one for the Odroid N2+ Port the script from the Odroid C2 image to my O…

Hello. I am a new user of the armbian. I installed nextcloud from armbian-config. Need docker to have access to the file system. I want to place the nextcloud files in the home directory, which is mounted on another partition. I don't understand how to give docker access to my file system. I didn't find the necessary setting in armbian-config. I'm stuck on initial setup

Hello! I am looking to set up edge monitoring for both rising and falling edges. I can monitor either individually but I cannot activate both edges. I receive: genirq: setting trigger mode 3 for irq 36 failed (meson_gpio_irq_set_type+0x0/0x60) I have attempted to use mraa-gpio, gpiod, and sysfs all with the same result. I'm on a Radxa Zero running Armbian 23.5 Jammy (Kernel 6.1.y). Interestingly if I attempt to run Manjaro on this board I can interface with the pins to get the values and set direction but I have no edge detection. Is the GPIO driver in Armbian patched for Amlogic Meson G12A? Hoping I'm posting in the right place! …

I'm trying to build an abian trixie image with the CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_MIPI_DBI support module enabled in the kernel. However, no matter how many times I build, when checking the modinfo module, panel-mipi-dbi is not found. In the /boot/config(kernel) configuration, the line is commented out: #CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_MIPI_DBI is not set I set M to the panel-mipi-dbi kernel module parameter. I also set Y to the parameter. I also tried adjusting the .config file before running the image build. I used both Docker and non-Docker builds. I'm using Ubuntu 22.04.

Hi there, I am trying to blacklist a module by adding 'blacklist rtl2832_sdr' to /etc/modprobe.d/rtl2832_sdr.conf I follow this by issuing 'update-initramfs -u' and rebooting. This is a standard way of doing things on Linux, yet somehow all of the modules continue to show up. System is up to date, running on Orange Pi Zero 3, if that matters. I expect this is a bug of some sort, since I saw it mentioned elsewhere here in the forums that this is the way to go, too?

Working on making klipper, a 3d printiing util like Marlin , work on a bpi5 running armbian, fully updated Since the last update a day back, make has been broken. I think its now expecting windows line endings, which it won't find on a linux system. The error message is consistent: gene@bpi51:~/src/klipper$ make /home/gene/src/klipper/.config:13: *** missing separator. Stop. Line 13 is the first non-comment line in the file. The file uses $0A only as linefeeds, no CR's exist in it. Hi all, I'm quite puzzled by this. I installed iptables-persistent to be able to restore the iptables rules at start-up. Saved the rules to /etc/iptables/rules.v4 / /etc/iptables/rules.v6, then rebooted. But after boot, the iptables are empty. Looking at the status of service netfilter-persistent, it looks like it has ran the scripts to restore the rules: root@gateway:/etc# systemctl status netfilter-persistent.service ● netfilter-persistent.service - netfilter persistent configuration Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/netfilter-persistent.service; enabled; preset: enabled) Drop-In: /usr/lib/systemd/system/netfilter-persistent…

I don't quite know where to post this. I hope I am in the right place. When migrating a system from an armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi4-lts_jammy_current_5.15.93_xfce_desktop image to a SSD, armbian-install creates a broken line in /etc/fstab. The third line is missing the introductory "UUID=". The line then looks like this: xxxxxxxx-yyy-yyy-yyy-xxxxxx /media/mmcboot ext4 defaults,noatime,commit=600 ....etc. As a result, /media/mmcboot is not mounted, of course, and the boot process aborts with a cli root-login. Completing the line allows the system to boot normally. UUID=xxxxxxxx-yyy-yyy-yyy-xxxxxx /media/mmcboot ext4 defaults,noatime,commit=600 ....etc. …

It seems to me that the mesa packages that Armbian provides are broken, but I see no mention of this anywhere so maybe it's something I'm doing? I'm using an Orange Pi Zero 3, which I believe is experimental but I don't see any evidence that the packages of interest are specific to this board. It looks like Armbian provides a new version of libgl1-mesa-dri that relies on a newer version of libdrm-amdgpu1 than what is available in the default debian bookworm repo: ben@orangepizero3:~$ sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dev Reading package lists... I just installed Armbian_community_26.2.0-trunk.732_Rockpi-4bplus_trixie_current_6.18.22_minimal on a Rockpi-4bplus. How do I install the correct Linux headers? The standard apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r) method doesn't work for armbian. OK, there's a corresponding option in armbian-config, and it seems to run successfully, but for some reason, I only see linux-headers-6.12.74+deb13+1-arm64 and linux-headers-6.12.74+deb13+1-common in /usr/src.

Hi all. I am trying to autologin and auto startx BSPWM but all I get is a black screen when calling startx. Here's my .bash_profile if [ -z "${DISPLAY}" ] && [ "${XDG_VTNR}" -eq 1 ]; then exec startx fi The bspwmrc has permissions 700. Permissions on sxhkdrc is 600. I even gave execute permissions to .xinitrc (below). #!/bin/sh . /etc/X11/Xsession polybar default & sxhkd & exec bspwm It happens if I manually call it, and even when I explicitly tell it to start bspwm (i.e. startx bspwm). I just bought this PINE64 board. I flashed the ARMbian GNOME Desktop OS image into an SD card, in order to boot into the board. I already tried to set up an OpenVPN server using this guide (tested with another Ubuntu machine, it worked) but for some reason this does not work using the PINE64 board. All the steps seems to complete successful and the VPN server seems to be up and running, passed the ovpn file to the client user but when the user try to connect to the VPN network the log messages from the VPN client always said "Server poll timeout..." and, of course, the connection never happen. Which could be the problem? Am I missing something for this set up ?

Hi, I am testing armbian with openhab on odroid C4. Sometimes it can be handy to login via Remote desktop to my machine. When i connect trough renmina or windows rdp, i get the xrdp login screen, but when i enter user and pasword, i get thrown out of the programm, be it srenmina or windows remote desktop. So the problem seems to be on the armbian side. Any suggestions where to look to fix shis? Armbian version 22.11.1 running on odroid C4. Thks in advance

Steps to repeat the bug: 1) use the cross platform PoC written in C, the Python one that everyone is sharing contains obfuscated code (bad ju-ju) and is x86_64 specific `git clone https://github.com/tgies/copy-fail-c` `cd copy-fail-c` 2) compile either on your target device natively, or do what I did and cross-compile it as a static binary using an aarch64-linux-musl toolchain (this made it easy to test on different SBCs) `PREFIX="/opt/toolchains/aarch64-linux-musl-cross" CC=aarch64-linux-musl-gcc LD=aarch64-linux-musl-ld CFLAGS="-static -fPIC -I/opt/toolchains/aarch64-linux-musl-cross/include -L/opt/toolchains/aarch64-linux-musl-cross/lib" LDFLAG…

I'm trying to compile a java maven project and I've noticed that maven is unable to download dependencies from https repositories, I know that this problem is related specifically to https on armbian because I'm also unable to wget https repositories and it only works with the --no-check-certificate flag, I've tested on Ubuntu 22.04 on other two machines and it works, while on my armbian ones it doesn't, I've tested on my orangepi4 and on other 2 machines with x86 cpus that also runs armbian. There's a way to make https work by default on these cases? I don't know if I'm missing some configuration or something like that. I've attached a screenshot of what happen…

I'm currently trying to set up an Orange Pi PC, Armbian 23.8 Bookworm. After the first boot via ssh and performing `sudo apt-get update`, I see that the Armbian project seemingly using the official Debian mirrors to update the Debian itself, as well as Yandex mirrors to update the Armbian-specific software ( http://mirror.yandex.ru/mirrors/armbian/apt ). The device connects to the official Debian mirrors without any issue, but can't connect to the Yandex mirrors, since most Ukrainian ISPs enforce censorship by banning major Russian websites, which includes the yandex.ru domain. This leads to this warning after performing `sudo apt-get update`: ``` …

Installed 24.8.4 on OrangePi Zero2. Assumed I would need to install neofetch to launch it, so didn't even try to run it before going straight to 'apt install neofetch'. On attempting to install, I saw the following: Reason is that armbian-config package includes /usr/bin/neofetch. To avoid confusion for new users, it seems like it would be good to either have armbian-config depend on neofetch instead of including the bash script that that package includes*, or have the Package file for armbian-config lock out the installation of neofetch (I think the Provides, Replaces, and Conflicts directives might be needed for that). I had a look around the https:/…

I am trying to debug some sporadic issues with my wireless chip (AP6212 - on a BPI-M2 Zero). Looking through other forum posts, I'm wondering if the proper firmware is being loaded, as well as the proper NVRAM settings. I'm not new to Linux (I started using Linux around 97), but I haven't really dove into wireless firmware before, and it's all pretty mysterious to me. A previous forum post points out that the AP6212-specific firmware might not be being loaded. Then I manually invoked exportfs -a and the client were able to mount. What is the correct way to get the nfs server started after a reboot?

I have been running Armbian on a Pinebook Pro without issues. I use the stable distribution, but after an update about a week ago (I think) the Panfrost driver has stopped working. When logging into the desktop environment (Cinnamon) the symptom is a black screen with a cursor visible but nothing else. Checking the logs I see a bunch of lines like: > Mar 20 09:29:05 pine kernel: [ 534.502108] panfrost ff9a0000.gpu: js fault, js=0, status=DATA_INVALID_FAULT, head=0xb9f2b40, tail=0xb9f2b40 If I log in by disabling hardware rendering (choosing "Cinnamon (Software Rendering)") then the desktop does display and work (albeit very slow…

Hello, I'm using Armbian (22.08.0) for risc-v on a Mango-pi. Looks like the package in subject is not in the repos. However, there are other packages depending on it (explicitly indicating that the required version is >=25.8.2) so this prevents package updates. Interestingly, for the armhf target the package is available, so I suspect a build issue. Any clue?

I have LicheeRV Nano (version B), which is a RISC-V computer with SOPHGO SG2002 CPU. Someone ported Debian onto it. The device acts as an "USB gadget" - when I connect it to my laptop through USB, it identifies itself as USB Ethernet device. This device is running RDNIS. However, when I connect this device to my Ubuntu laptop, I always get new network interface, with different IP (in range 10.42.0.0/24). For instance, once network interface is called "enx8a7df6c752e6", and it's MAC address is "8a:7d:f6:c7:52:e6". Next time it is called "enxd23862ad4ce9", with MAC address pa"d2:38:62:ad:4c:e9", and so on. The dmesg command on my Ubuntu lapto…

I have an Odroid HC1 I'm trying to install Armbian 22.11 Bullseye (Armbian_22.11.1_Odroidxu4_bullseye_current_5.4.225.img) on and on first boot I can see it grab an IP on my network etc, however when I try to SSH I get "Connection Refused". The HC1 has no video output so SSH is sorely needed here. As a test I flashed Armbian 22.11 Jammy (Armbian_22.11.1_Odroidxu4_jammy_current_5.4.225.img) to the SDCard, booted it and was able to SSH to it just fine so it's not hardware/network related. I need Bullseye to install openmediavault. Anyone have ideas?

I had to install (they were missing) sshfs, then fuse and finally ssh on a bpi-m5, using a 128Gb u-sd as boot media. iso was noble from a week ago's download, and updated at 2nd boot after establishing my /etc/hosts file based network. I can ssh from it /to/ the main box w/o any problem. But any attempt to reverse into it /from/ another machine /to/ it is "connection reset by peer". I haven't touched /etc/ssh/*config's from default values. Is there something I need to set/reset in those files to restore incoming logins? And no, I do not enable root logins. Also, systemd is still a puzzle to me if its involved. Thanks for any advice.

Just wondering if having profile-sync-daemon (psd) is causing troubles to you. After installing Armbian, I noticed that whenever I was restarting Chromium and accessing youtube, the system was asking me a login. The authentication cookies were simply disappearing after each restart of chromium. To avoid that I removed a link of my .profile directory pointing to a tmpfs filesystem (you see the tmpfs file system, use the df command). I read that it is used to avoid read/write on storage, as all I/O are done in Ram, but obviously in my case it was not really working, as I was loosing my cookies. Does anyone else uses that feature?…

I have an OrangePi PC with armbian installed on it. Today, probably because of my stupidity, the board couldn't boot after upgrading a bunch of stuff. When I opened the sd card on my pc, I found that there were no kernel files in /boot and there were broken symlinks. I tried to replace these with the files from the current minimal image armbian is available for the board, but encountered a UUID mismatch. But before my attempts to fix the issue, my system had Linux 6.1.11-sunxi installed, so I am concerned about this mismatch and would like to sa…

Hi! I am not using a GUI. I configured a static IP address via netplan (generated and applied the config) and installed a dhcp server. The dhcp server sometimes kept failing to start on reboot. Checking the logs showed that even though the isc-dhcp-server depends on the network being configured before it tries to start, that actually systemd sometimes starts isc-dhcp-server b…

I have to be upfront: I'm not a developer. I'm an ops/observability engineer who knows how to use software to get things done. I know a bit of Go — not much — and I have no formal background in software design. What I do know is what I need, and what was missing. So I built it. Take the code with that in mind. The problem I run a Kobol Helios64 as my home NAS — a five-bay ARM board that's been sitting in a sweet spot between "serious hardware" and "abandoned by its software ecosystem." I tried the usual NAS UIs. They were either too heavy, too opinionated about owning the underlying OS, or simply unmaintained. None of them gave me a clean window in…
