Using a Realtek 8821CU Bluetooth + Wifi USB adapter. Working fine on stable build jammy with kernel 5.10.123. (current) Using the Armbian->Config->System->Other and selecting the latest 5.15 kernel. System reboots and confirm kernel has been updated and chosen. Wifi hotspots are all seen but fails to connect and repeatedly asks for password. Security is WAP2 personal. Setting the kernel back to 5.10.current reverts to Wifi working as expected. I will try the 5.17 kernel and report back. I have seen this before on other Deb distros. From memory this is caused by a missing/outdated kernel e…

Hi I installed the official release on my Z83 mini PC and it boots up great, but when I go to install to the emmc it fails at the U-Boot generation step with the error below. Has anyone seen this before or know a workaround? I did check to see if this was just a red herring error but as the error says the bootloader does not get written. "Error while creating U-Boot loader image with mkimage" "Error: no u-boot package found, exiting." Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi All, I am a total newbie in orange pi and ambian. I just want to use orange pi one as my pi hole server. i use sandisk ultra pro 32G a a huawei 2A power block using usb to barrel connector. After my first install, and try to ssh, the port 22 timed out in armbian I also tried reflashing to debian, and still cannot ssh. I already tried some suggestion i found like dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server, changing time out of ssh. i tried armbianmonitor -u, but im getting a Network/Firewall problem detected. you think this might be related to ssh connection. thanks!

I have tried many Armbian images with my orange zero 2 but the best I get is the Armbian logo. Can anyone tell me if there is something else does need to be done? With the images from the orangepi page the board works fine, so is not the hardware apparently. Thanks.

I've been having a recent issue over the last couple months where my ArmbianEvn.txt file is being overwritten thus causing Helios to hang in the boot process. Using some samples i've found on these forums, I was able to re-create my file and get the Helios back up and running and have since stored a copy so that when it happens, I can just copy and paste and back up running in no time. To date, i've had this happen to me 4 times. I'm not worried about having go through this at this point in time, but I was curious if anyone else has seen this issue or not? I've saved a couple samples of what was written into the ArmbianEnv.txt file: /var/log/armbian-ha…

Hi All We are having a problem where on booting the /var/log is filled and uses all mmc storage space. Does anyone know how to intervene in te booting process to stop this mapping and filling up of the fs? This issue sometimes causes the device to fail to boot properly and remain inaccessible. (It may indeed be that an unclean shutdown is causing this problem). Booting up properly is essential for us and we do not want or need these logs . We send the logs over the server, so capture these anyways. This posting refers to our same issue: Any help much appreciated. Thank you for Armbian! Best wishes Eric

I just (several days ago) installed Armbian 22.05 OdroidN2 Jammy XFCE. It uses kernel 5.10. Then I noticed there is an alternative version 22.05 jammy XFCE with kernel 5.17. Is it possible to update to the later kernel from the image I used without re-imaging and starting from scratch? I have already installed and setup a lot of other applications and data. I can see i have packages linux-image-current-meson64/jammy (linux-dtb... & linux-headers...) installed. On apt.armbian.com I found: (https://stpete-mirror.armbian.com/apt/pool/main/l/linux-5.17.5-meson64/) in the linux-5.17.5-meson64 Name Last modified P…

I tried to execute `sudo armbianmonitor -v` and I got this result. ``` Starting package integrity check. This might take some time. Be patient please... It appears you may have corrupt packages. This is usually a symptom of filesystem corruption caused by SD cards or eMMC dying or burning the OS image to the installation media went wrong. The following changes from packaged state files were detected: /usr/lib/chromium-browser/master_preferences.dpkg-dist ``` This is from new orangepi pc board and new SD Card with new install OS.

I see a lot of tutorials online and they all have seems to have different ways of going about making a share and it seems most of them are logged into a user as opposed to root. I'm logged in to root through ssh so that might the the cause of many of my issues I believe. I did a simple apt install samba and it seems to be running fine. I see other tutorials recommending you install "smbclient" and "cifs-utils", is that necessary? Some of the tutorials also say to add user groups and to add settings to the firewall. I'm just using 1 user and don't have any firewalls installed, unless armbian comes with one by default. I think my my service is running fine thoug…

I am not shure if this is board specific so I post it here and hope that you might be willing to try this on your board: - I installed audit: apt install auditd - I set up a rule for a file audit should watch: auditctl -w /boot/armbianEnv.txt -p wa - I change or touch the file being watched: touch /boot/armbianEnv.txt - I have a look at the log of audit: cat /var/log/audit/audit.log And then ––– I see nothing... Any hints what's going wrong? My guess is that the kernel might be lacking the audit module?!

Good morning, I've got a Libre Computer Renegade, with Amrbian Bullseye minimal (on an sd card) . Changing HDMI monitors (of different sizes and resolutions) the board does not adjust automatically the resolution, so, sometimes the display is unreadable because written are too small, and I can't set a resolution to beng able to use it. I reflashed the sd after some issues and while firstrun script connected me to service provider wifi without error, the ethernet (currently connected to win11 enterprise) doesn't get an IP. Does windoze need to act as DHCP server? If so, will it clobber the wifi? Conversely, if I set the Pi as DHCP server for strategic reasons, will it clobber Windoze wifi connection? Thanks so much Joe

Dear Friends, I have been testing Armbian 22.04 Current CLI version and 22.01 Edge Jammy CLI and both does not reboot. When I reboot Armbian the LEDs stop to blinking but I can clearly listen the rust-drives spinning, also the LCD is still active. I also thought that was because the spin drives, but when I did the test I made it without the disks as well, therefore I excluded both cases. Hi! just want to share the experience. I'm using Armbian in an environment that cannot access the internet. So, NTP becomes a big issue, and I have to setup my local NTP server using Chrony. Things should be simple, but it just didn't work out. I stuck with this problem for a few weeks until I realized I'm trying to setup Chrony NTP server on a virtual machine. Then, I found this one on stackoverflow. https://serverfault.com/questions/1062023/the-least-bad-settings-for-chrony-as-the-ntp-server-on-a-virtual-machine It suggests how to setup NTP server on virtual machine, but I didn't follow through as I solved my problem by setting up Chrony NTP ser…

Hello, I'm using armbian on Orangepi PC PLUS and i'm controlling GPIO pins with Python. Everything is working fine when I start my Python script. I have been trying to get a 7" waveshare touchscreen to work with the orange pi zero2. I've checked that the touchscreen isn't faulty by using with a raspberry pi. I also checked that the output from the orange pi is working by using my computer monitor. It just doesn't want to output to the touchscreen (hdmi). There seems to be some thin grey horizontal lines. I do get a flicker at startup of the orange pi, but that is about it. Any idea's? I'm new to armbian, so if you have an idea, please list me some steps or point me to some documentation to help. I appreciate the help.

Dear community, dear @Igor (as maintainer of NEO3 CSC), thanks a lot for the NEO3 support. This board ran rock solid for me approx. two years straight – much more stable than my other SBCs running Armbian (due to various reasons, no offense :)). However, the board failed to boot with "ERROR: Did not find a cmdline Flattened Device Tree". It appears that ``rk3328-nanopi-neo3-rev02.dtb`` went missing. This must have happened when upgrading the package ``linux-dtb-current-rockchip64`` from 21.08.2 to 22.02.1. As a workaround, it helps to (download the CSC image for the board again, get the file out of the image,) place the file in ``/boo…

Hi all. I am new in both OrangePi hardware and Armbian OS. I bought Orange Pi Zero 512 MB. I aim to develop a stand-alone device using this board. I am too confused with my readings. Do you have any idea for the following run rules together on the same board? (1) When I connect via serial (USB), it runs bash. It will ask user name and password. I can write a program, compile it, update the OS, and change settings. <This part is okay.> I want to use a GUI for this part. (2) When I supply 5-Volt power via extension pins, it runs stand-alone. It will not ask for a username and a password. It starts with an application developed in either Python or C programming lan…

I've got one of these boards. It is just Kernel development that has ceased as there are no maintainers? (Had I had the skills, I would have happily maintained it. ;-( ) Also, to get the latest Kernel later on, is it as simple as obtaining the official sources and then compiling (or cross-compiling to ARM) and then install the Kernel? On this one I'm a bit like a duck out of water and if anyone can point me along the right path, all help will be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to figure out how to create a dtoverlay to allow my waveshare 2.8a fbtft screen to work. I understand that i the 5.x.y kernels, a dtoverlay is required. I'm starting with the waveshare32b.dts for raspberry pi, found here: https://github.com/swkim01/waveshare-dtoverlays Should be compatible with the 2.8a per waveshare wiki. I'm trying to modify it in sort of the same way as was done in this thread, for another display: The board I'm using for this is an orangepi pc2. But i don't' actually know what I'm doing. What I've come up with so far is this: /* * Device Tree overl…

Not sure if this is beginner or advanced, so I guess I'll start here. I have a "le potato" I recently bought. Getting it working has been a nightmare, but I'm almost there. Right now my project is to get a 32x64 RGB matrix working using an adafruit hat. I got Armbian 22.02.1 Focal running on it, and I'm using the gpiod library. I've had to write my own access library, but I've almost got it working, translating the pin labels ("7J1 Header Pin15") to the appropriate GPIO/offset values for use with gpiod. Except for exactly one. I try to use request_line on GPIO 22 (chip 0, offset 10) and it gives me an invalid argument. Doesn't do t…

Hello all. I'm obviously a newbie to this all and have a Libre Le Potato I just purchased. Put in Armbian Bullseye and got everything configured so my Python script runs on boot and writes the data it records by sending a byte string through the USB port to a device and records the parsed response. All is well there, but I needed to add an RTC to this and I have many DS3231 boards that I've integrated with Arduino boards recently and they all work well. I've soldered the connections to the 3.3V, GND, SDA, and SCK pins and matched those to the GPIO pins 1, 9, 3, and 5 respectively. I've gone into 'armbian-config' and enabled…

Hello armbian friends, I am not really a beginner but I don't find a fitting forum to ask this. Having manually upgraded the first day it was possible to Bullseye, my MOTD and armbian-release got stuck on the old version. Everything runs very very good, I have a very up-to-date kernel and love it. Any chance I can repair my broken MOTD? What did I do wrong when I changed my sources.list and armbian.list? Kind greetings

Hey. I have a waveshare 4.3" 480x272 screen, that I'm trying to get to work with my orange pi zero +2, or nanopi M1 plus. However, I can't get the screen to show the right resolution - that only seems possible on my raspberry pi (which I don't want to use for this project). I've been running over all the (little) info I can find, and it seems to be a general problem to get hdmi working if the screen edid is a bit flaky - is this still the case, or is it possible to get this combination of opi/nanopi to work on this display? Regards. Anders

Hey all, So recently I got myself an Orange Pi Prime so I could attempt to do some SPI flashing through spidev and flashrom. I have been going at it, set up the board, got an actually decent power supply, and set up everything. Eventually I got myself into the steps of setting up the pins for spi use. At first, I used armbian-config to enable the spidev into /boot/armbianEnv.txt then I added param_spidev_spi_bus=0 into armbianEnv.txt I rebooted and the spi device file still doesn't show up, any ideas? Linux orangepizeroplus 5.15.25-sunxi64 #22.02.1 SMP Sun Feb 27 09:24:04 UTC 2022 aarch64 GNU/Linux. I don't see anymore the /sys/class/gpio... directory. Has this been suppressed or is my filesystem corrupted? The /sys/class/ dir exists w/ a lot of stuff, just gpio is missing! This is duplicated in Discord, but I'm not sure, if it is right there (1st use)

Dears, I have recently posted several issues wrt. OPi0+. GPIO (sysfs), armbian-config (bug confirmed by Igor), WiFi AP, GPIO event handling. Except for GPIO, where high activity is going on, I cannot find anything in "GitHub-issues" about the other problems, I have raised. I therefore would like to know, what would be the right place to rise issues? Here in the forum, or in GitHub? I mean "issues", not "how tos"
