Hello guys! I find it very convinient to see the temperature of the NVME drive installed while being logged on via SSH. How can I add the temperature of the drive right under the temperature of the cpu? I added a line: "echo -e "NVMe Drive Temperature: \033[32m$(sudo nvme smart-log /dev/nvme0n1 | grep temperature | sed 's/.*: //;s/ C//')°C\033[0m"" to the file /etc/update-motd.d/10-armbian-header What is the best way to do it?

  2. Due to systemd, Journal is going to replace all journals sooner or later, it's already one of the busiest journaling on the sytem. The logs are binary and can't be rotated like text logs, they are already compressed and can't be read by text editor, instead only by journalctl. Thus, in /usr/lib/armbian/armbian-ramlog , the directory /var/log/journal is excluded from standard log rotation and copying to HDD. Instead, it is copied once to /var/log.hdd/journal and a soft-link is created: /var/log/journal pointing to -> /var/log.hdd/journal . The RAM logging was introduced to spare the SD card, preventing many write actions that wear the SD card qui…

Tested on official builds(firstly), pulseaudio, pipewire+wireplumber, also tested self-builded via official building script with same drivers. Speaker-test detects only front left channel. What it may be? How I can fix that? Thanks in advance.

  9. Hi, trying to nut out the problem of being unable to restart after installation of the OMV Wireguard plugin. I have removed the wireguard-tools package and installed the 4 rockchip64 edge 6.1.11 packages. It took me a while to realise that armbian-config was not installing the headers when selected but wondering if there's a necessary order for installation ie linux-source-6.1.11-edge-rockchip64 first maybe? Sorry I realise how tedious it is supporting folks who are feeling around in the dark but I've wasted so many hours starting from scratch I either have to give up or ask for a tip. TIA

I was pleased to see an up-to-date armbian release for my nanopi-r4s with a kernel greater than 6.x ! 🤗 For my first day, it's pretty good and I can find most of the things I was looking for (even ripgrep). But, I have a look at the services and I've found that haveged is still set. For what I know, since 5.18 version, "Linus" changed his mind for entropy (see https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-5.18-RNG). You can have a look at /proc/sys/kernel/random/entropy_avail which is always set to 256 now. Thanks again and best regards !

Anyway, in case this was the issue, I have built a new voltage regulator, and now supply the DHT22 and pullup resistor with 3.60V My issue is simple: when plugged on normal 1W bus, the DHT22 kills the bus, and makes other devices non working. I have moved all other devices on a new bus, leaving the DHT on a bus I know works fine. Some people mentionned the DHT is not compliant with official 1W libraries, and can not be recognised with normal timings, so, special libs are required. Kind of an issue as I use zfs (backports) on my omv install and I need to reinstall them to get the module recreated... Now I have a few questions: Is it because I have only armbian-firmware-full held back, and apt works in my case maybe with armbian-firmware? (Or do I misinterpret the list that says upgradable on the full) Or do I have to hold the specific versioned packages and will the armbian-firmware (meta?) package hold not work on the ones I have installed and get upgraded nonetheless? My question is, are Quectel modems natively supported by armbian (QMI? MBMI? ), or do I need to add the driver manually and rebuild the image??? Thank you (Yeah, it's a noob question ) Edit: Ok, I connected to modem to the board and realized that a wwan0 interface was created. How can I archive this? Thank you in advance; Gerry

Hey there fellow Pi enthusiasts! I am absolutely thrilled to have just gotten my hands on the Orange Pi 5, but being new to the world of Pi's and small chips, I was a bit intimidated. However, after exploring this forum, I must say that I am impressed with the amazing work you all have done with the software! I recently stumbled upon the Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome and decided to give it a shot. After successfully installing it to my SSD, updating and upgrading it, and enabling 3D acceleration with the commands provided, I thought I was good to go. But something still seems off to me - the graphics just don't seem to be as fast as I thought they woul…

If i use only the sd card, without any external storage, the system works fine, but if i connect any usb storage to the odroid c2, the system is booting into a bootloop or stops booting If i connect the usb storage after the first bios display, the system boot is fine. I think, the bootloader is trying to boot from the usp storage after detecting this, so is there an option to modify the bootloader, so it is only trying to boot from the pluged in sd card?

  63. On my Banana Pi M5 Armbian Jammy has a strange device name assignment. BPi-M5 has internal 16GB eMMC normally named mmcblk0 and microSD named mmcblk1. Normally it boots from SD and if you install an OS like Raspberry OS for BPi into eMMC, you're still able to boot from SD another OS because RaspiOS maps device correctly. But when Armbian (i.e. Jammy) is installed into eMMC it changes eMMC device to mmcblk1 and SD to mmcblk0, and It prevents SD to boot. And if the eMMC OS corrupts and doesn't boot the SBC bricks and TTL connection is needed to erase boot record. To change OS it's necessary a command to delete boot record and SD on mmbl…

Hi, I'm compiling a kernel (using 5.8.16-sunxi) for an H3 board that has the RTL8189es chip onboard. But the make fails due to a missing include file. It turns out that the makefile for this driver expects a "src" variable to be loaded with the path for the makefile. But I can't find any defining reference to this variable or any mention in the make documentation that it is an internal function. I've managed to fix this by setting src to srctree and the sub-path for this driver. But this seems very clumsy to me. Can somebody explain how "src" is meant to be loaded and why it's not happening for me ? Thanks, Steven

  82. I have recently managed to get SPI boot to USB SSD working on my Odroid N2+. However, to get there, I had to manually set setenv rootdev "/dev/sda1" in my /boot/boot.cmd With that set, SPI boot works. However, obviously I should not set it manually there, and the setting gets overwritten by armbian-config. My understanding is, that I should let boot.cmd unchanged (rootdev "/dev/mmcblk0p1") and armbianEnv.txt should do its magic, but the rootdev setting in armbianEnv.txt is simply ignored upon SPI boot and it fails to boot, as it tries to load the root fs from SD card... The OS ran fine from SD card, but once installed to emmc (using armbian-config) the system booted with a message that the file space available was zero. Hello everyone! I recently heard about running x86_64 programs on ARM using box64, and decided to give it a try. I get the impression that most people are just using it for games but I would like to use it to run Quartus (a program to work with Intel FPGAs). The issue I see is getting the USB drivers to work. Quartus includes drivers for several programming cables (I am only interested in the USB blaster cable), and as far as I know there are no drives available that run on ARM. Is there any hope at all of getting the x86 drivers to work on ARM? Thanks in advance.
