What is the the best reasonably priced camera module for Orangepi models these days? Raspberry has 5 and 8 megapixel camera modules from 7-30 euros. Orangepi has only 2 megapixel cameras. Or has a 5MP cameramode come available for Orangepi also? I've looked at Aliexpress and nothing seems to have changed.

Hello guys! i had download armbian for bananapi m3(a83t) from arambian for bpi-m3. And braking my mind with friending sinovoip LCD+touchscreen module. I tried all the known options for me to connect the LCD display S070WV20HG-DC16 with the touchscreen on the ft5x_ts driver, and failed because apparently not smart enough for this, the my brains are exploding. In the kernel, I did not find the drivers on the display (S070WV20_MIPI_RGB) and the driver on the screen in the kernel is not compiled. Is anyone can correct in the device tree file the parameters for the LCD section for the display as I understood the data can be taken from the fex file: …

Hi I trying to create an Access Point from NanoPi M1 plus device having Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.14.78.7z OS. I am able to create the AP and my devices are able to connect to it. But somehow they are not able to use the internet. I have eth0 interface as plugged in to the board which whose IP will be forwarded. via wlan0 interface. I have already set net.ipv4.ip_forward=1 in /etc/sysctl.conf and /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward to 1. I issued the following iptables commands, but it didn't work... sudo iptables -F sudo iptables -t nat -F sudo iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o wlan0 -j MASQUERADE sudo iptables -A FORWARD -…

Hi all, i have the problem that a restored image not starts. Following situation: i copy the armbian 5.69 ubuntu bionic next desktop image on a 8GB sdcard. Linux system starts. I make an update/upgrade of all files (Kernel Version 4.19.13 is installed). After that i compile a new Kernel und install it (same kernel version but including an added module). Linux starts again with the new Kernel Version. Even after a reboot or Power on, Power Off the system is starting again. I make a backup of the sdcard with W32DiskImager, Roadkill´s Disk Image or USBit and save it under Windows. Then i copy the backuped image on a new sdcard. But this copy doesn´t b…

Hello all, My team and I are trying to use the ASUS Tinkerboard S (running Armbian Bionic v4.19.7, i.e. ubuntu bionic 18.04) as a platform to host a webapp, with a touchscreen as the user interface. We've successfully set up the Tinkerboard S to open chromium-browser in kiosk mode on startup using systemd, and a script that launches `chromium-browser --kiosk --app=server_url`. Our next step is to customize the boot process with the following changes: - none (or as few as possible) lines of text while the services are starting up - include a splash screen with our company logo, if possible Any advice on how to acc…

If possible, I would like to shutdown or wake up the Odroid N2 using a GPIO button. I followed the guide here: https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-n2/application_note/gpio/gpio_key_wakeup. The button LED works, but the button does not trigger shutdown or wake up using pin 9 and 11. Has anyone gotten a power button to work on the Odroid N2? Is there a specific Odroid module/software that isn't installed by default in Armbian? Additions to /boot/boot.ini setenv gpiopower "479" setenv bootargs ${bootargs} gpiopower=${gpiopower} After these additions, /proc/cmdline shows "gpiopower=479" as expected. I'm running Armbian 21.02.2 Buster on the Od…

It's a Debian stretch server (Armbian to be specific). When I ran "apt-get update" the day before yesterday, it gave me an error: "The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 648ACFD622F3D138 NO_PUBKEY 0E98404D386FA1D9". I searched the Internet and finally resolved the issue by running the following commands: apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 648ACFD622F3D138 apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 0E98404D386FA1D9 Initially I tried to use "--keyserver keyring.debian.org" but it didn't work. Therefore, I did some further research, and I read from https://wiki.debian.…

According to http://linux-sunxi.org/H2%2B#VariantsI should be able to differentiate between the H2+ and the H3 via the CPU SID. I have an Orange Pi Zero board with this output from /proc/cpuinfo Hardware : Allwinner sun8i Family Revision : 0000 Serial : 02004620161dea8a According to that site "the last byte of the first word" should be either 0x42 or 0x83 since the Orange Pi Zero has an H2+. Yet I am not finding 0x42 or 0x83 *anywhere* in "02004620161dea8a". Anyone know how to correctly identify the CPU variant?

Hello All, I finally got Armbian for the BPI-R2 installed and I must say, it is the best OS I had ever used on it. It makes the BPI-R2 usable now, which is great since it is very good hardware. I plan to use it just as a server (no desktop plans, as that could get too painful). If any BPI-R2 tests need to be done or the such, please let me know. ta, t.

No matter which image I take (stretch/bionic; Bananapim2/Bananapim2ultra; 5.38/5.69) my Banana Pi M2 Berry with it's Allwinner V40 won't boot correctly. The attached screen stays off and the LED keeps shining red. I used Etcher 1.4.9 portable to copy the image to an 16 GB MicroSD. It's worth mentioning that the Pi and the MicroSD work just fine if I'm running it with another distro, like the 2018-05-24-raspbian-jessie-preview-bpi-m2u-sd-emmc.img from the official website. If I'm using the image Armbian_5.69_Bananapim2ultra_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.13, then I'm able to access the Pi via ssh. Yet, the screen won't work at all. As an interesting side …

Sorry if this in the wrong spot. I need a bit of help here, I once or twice updated the kernel on the Rock64 from older versions but I've always ran into an issue where it just wouldn't boot anymore and needed to be re-flashed. I run a always up server that has to have little to no downtime and I wish to avoid having to re-flash again. So I want to know if its safe or not to upgrade to 4.4.174 from 4.4.167 I can provide more info if needed. Thanks

Hi, I installed more than one year ago pi-hole on a Orange Zero, since two/three month the admin panel of pi-hole remind me that there is a new pi-hole version available. I cannot figure out which is the correct way to upgrade it. Will the upgrade be released as a package through the armbian apt repository? I mean, will I get this upgrade with apt-get upgrade sooner or later? Are there other ways to upgrage it? Thanks.

Hi there. Is there any way to set hostname of freshly installed board with armbian-config not in menu, but from command line ? armbian-config --help gives some examples, but not for this case. And more generic question -- when I "burn" microSD image, first boot comes with questions about root password, new user, etc. Is there a way to do it in unattended mode ? E.g. with ansible. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello, i had installed Raspbian OS on bpi M2 zero and the power button was working fine. After switching to Armbian (Focal - Buster , etc), i have problem with the power button that does not work anymore. The images were released for the specific board, but although the power button doesnt work. Additional, the installed SPI LCD, when powered off using raspbian, the backlight was deactivated (so power on GPIO was also off) Now with Armbian, even if i shutdown via command, the backlight remains on. Any suggestions?

Hi! I'm sorry, didn't noticed I had posted in wrong section, so here we go again! I'm trying to activate X11 hardware acceleration on this board. It's running an RT PREEMPT Kernel from the project AllwinCNC which aim to run linuxcnc software using ARISC core to generate steps in realtime. Unfortunately, I'm getting very bad performance in X11 with lima driver. It seems to be running on software and not the lima driver itself and I'd like to know if it is possible to have the graphics acceleration done in hardware instead. CPU usage is going to 100% and it is resulting in errors on the aforementioned CNC controller software due to this. BOARD: Oran…

Hi, since I upgraded my debian-based Armbian installations from 21.08.x to 22.02.1 the DISTRIBUTION_CODENAME variable is empty in the MOTD. It seems this error is in file https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/common/etc/update-motd.d/10-armbian-header since commit https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/3378/commits/1c71761973858c2bea16074075ef74157c2a960b. It tries to read the DISTRIBUTION_CODENAME from /etc/lsb-release, which is non-existent on debian-based Armbian. Hello Armbian community, I recently purchased a Odroid N2+ board and am trying different OS. I flashed Armbian_22.08.1_Odroidn2_jammy_current_5.10.139.img.xz on eMMC card. The first boot up works fine. I was prompted to set root password, new user credential and locals without any issue. I then used 'armbian-config' to navigate the different settings. In the system security menu, I applied the firmware update (that's what the menu called), I assume it runs apt update && apt upgrade. After completion, it prompts me to reboot. So I did. Then the Armbian cannot boot up anymore. I am using Odroid N2+ headless, so I can only see the board blue led not flashi…

Hello. I want to use btrfs as my rootfs (Armbian Ubuntu xenial 5.14 on M2) so I can use snapshots to roll back, freeze for backups, and to help manage changes. Btrfs is also good for error checking and can provide cheap easy data redundancy. How does booting work on my BPI M2? How can I change the target root partition? What has to be on /boot (ext4) and what can be on / (btrfs)? Along the same lines, is it possible to boot off of a USB device either directly or indirectly (Small SD with bootloader and /boot→ USB large root device)? Is there some documentation or good keywords to learn about how booting works in the ARM world?

Hello, everyone. Shameless self-promo: https://github.com/znoxx/torbox This set of scripts will allow you to create a tor-enabled wifi access point. Image for OrangePI Zero is based on Armbian - i just disabled NetworkManager here to allow correct execution of scripts. The idea is - you get "normal internet" from Ethernet jack, then do some TOR magic and all traffic from wifi side is "torred". Also I2P is installed to have "more darkness" in your Internets. Everything intended to be completely headless with managing via web interface, written with node.js. Have fun. For russian-speaking persons - description is here: http://znoxx.me/tor-i2p-m…

Hi! I've been reading a lot about iptables in last few days but I can't get my head around the configuration that I need. I'm still learning and this is beyond my scope. Hey. I'm working on getting a small touch screen working on my OPiZ+2. It's a Waveshare 4.3 with a resistive touchpanel (using HDMI for displaying). I've had some issues getting the touch panel to work, and just wanted to share my findings, and ask whether I have misunderstood something. I tried to load the three as described in the odroid wiki (https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/application_note/gpio/spi#tab__odroid-c2😞 sudo modprobe spidev sudo modprobe spi_gpio sudo modprobe spi_bitbang ...and that works, but unfortunately no device file is created. I believe SPI needs to be enabled somewhere additonally. In the "armbian-config" hardware section, there is only an entry for the odroid n2, which does not help/work for me. Are there any other hints somebody can give me to make it work? thanks a…

Hello, I have questions related with overlay. I'm using Radxa Zero 3W and in the /boot/armbianEnv.txt it has overlay_prefix=rk35xx. I want to use this overlay /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/radxa-zero3-disabled-wireless.dtbo. If I cat /boot/boot.cmd it read the overlays with this line ${overlay_prefix}-${overlay_file}.dtbo. It means if I add overlays=disabled-wireless in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, it will not find the dtbo right? So my questions are, 1. Can I manually edit the overlay_prefix to radxa-zero3? 2. If can then will that has impact on the feature, eg kernel upgrade or anything?

Hello Igor, I am using vanilla 4.4 for labomo-r1 it seems zram module is missing. Do you intend to compile the kernel with this option, please? gr@bpi:~$ sudo modprobe -Rf zram modprobe: FATAL: Module zram not found. On raspbian, kernel 3.18.x-4.1.x, there is a kernel module "zram" useful for embedded systems... working fine (also using on my x86 laptop) https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Zram Nice week-end, Regards, Guillaume

On H3, this can be done by editing script.bin That file has been replaced by Device Tree on H5 board, /boot/orangepi/OrangePiH5orangepi.dtb However, many have reported that editing that file can not enable RCA, see https://github.com/OrangePiLibra/OrangePi_H5SDK/issues/7 So what should I do to enable it? Is there an easy way to do it without compiling the kernel?

Hi there! I am using a H3 board with TV out on a small 3.5" LCD screen (with composite->RGB24 IC). But I have a problem with picture being way too bright/washed out. The LCD luminosity can be modified with LCD-driving IC buttons, when set to lower value the picture gets better but colors are still too bright (even if luminosity is low) I have tested the LCD with raspberry pi and output colors are normal. I was wondering if there is a known reason for this and if it can be fixed? So far I have just found a topic about a raspberry pi HDMI output being too bright (https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=50726) They su…

I am using ARM Cortex A7 board and had run coovachilli with its internal DHCP server successfully with external and internal splash pages. Now want to run it with external DHCP server that is clients will get IPs from external DHCP server and authenticate via Coovachilli. For example two boxes running coovachilli in it seperately but the client from both boxes will get IP lease from same backend dhcp server while authenticate via its coovachilli respectively. So I have used this config in it: HS_WANIF=eth0 # has address 195.19.214.216 HS_LANIF=eth1 HS_NETWORK=10.2.3.0 HS_NETMASK=255.255.255.0 HS_UAMLISTEN=10.2.3.1 HS_UAMPORT=3990 HS_UAMUIPORT=4990…

Hi I've just downloaded Armbian_21.02.3_Rock64_buster_current_5.10.21.img.xz for my Rock64 and flashed the image to a microSD card using BalenaEtcher. Over the last couple of days I've been writing a menu based script that creates a shutdown script to spin down HDDs during the shutdown phase on Linux based SoC PC. The reason behind the script is to get around an apparent problem whereby HDDs are forcefully being shut off when SoC PCs power off. I have posted this problem myself on the Open Media Vault forums, I have come across it here on the Armbian forums, the ODROID forums and also the Stack Exchange forums. During my script development and test…

Hi, I have "ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 10 (buster) 4.6.5-sunxi" running on a BananPi R1 router. I used to have it set up such that while it booted off the SD card, it had its root FS on an SSD. Some time ago, I had to re-install as an upgrade went fatally wrong and now I cannot remember the exact steps to switch from the SD card to the SSD as the root FS. I changed the root= in /boot/boot.cmd and generated the /boot/boot-scr and also changed the /etc/fstab entry but findmnt -n -o SOURCE / still shows "/dev/mmcblk0p1". Can anyone tell me the steps to take in switching to a new root FS? Thanks and ... stay healthy! Josef

Hi guys, I have an Orange Pi with Armbian running on a 5.4.88-sunxi arm 7l, and I'm trying to connect a CSI gc2035 camera. According to the manual, the gc2035 camera is only supported by Linux 3.4. Hey all, New to Armbian, installed to an Orange Pi 5. Installed XRDP - works fine in root (desktop shows) but if I try to do it as a user I just get a black screen with cursor. From searching I can see posts about already being logged in as a user already, and therefore black for privacy but I've not logged in as the user prior? Cant find anything really conclusive explaining how to resolve this Also even in root if I get logged out of desktop (RDP session still active, i.e. desktop lock screen) my root password doesn't work. Password is clearly not wrong

Hi there, Since being only a novice in linux, there are some things that are difficult to understand. Like - which configs to update or keep old versions when doing the upgrade. Last time I said N (keep original version) to everything. Really the only things I care about are vnc configs and samba setup. I basically use it as a network drive for backups. Only necessary software is x11vnc and samba. Else I log into it just for updates/restarts. I have tried upgrading my armbian several times. Unfortunately it does not work and I have to restore my sd card backup and start over. I update it making sure all apt updates are done, and then fr…

The .img checksum downloaded with the image and the checksum I ran were the same. When I check the online checksum here on armbian.com under downloads, sha, TODAY, the checksum is different. Is there any reason for me to believe that my original checksum and download may have been corrupted? Dear Friends, I have been testing Armbian 22.04 Current CLI version and 22.01 Edge Jammy CLI and both does not reboot. When I reboot Armbian the LEDs stop to blinking but I can clearly listen the rust-drives spinning, also the LCD is still active. I also thought that was because the spin drives, but when I did the test I made it without the disks as well, therefore I excluded both cases. Since I didn't read anything about it, I think this issue is affecting just me, any idea where I may look to find out what …

Hello friends, I apologize for such a noob question, but I was not able to find the answer in the forums, nor via duckduckgo. Since the 23.08 upgrades were released (thank you again to team Armbian!), I noticed that the "default" image for the Orange Pi 3 LTS is Armbian 23.8 Bookworm. The minimal CLI image weighs in at 267Mb. My OPi3LTS SBCs are all running Armbian Jammy 23.08. The minimal CLI image weighs in at 195Mb. My understanding is that Jammy is Ubuntu (22.04.3 LTS), and Bookworm is Debian (12.0). But also Ubuntu Jammy is based on Debian Bookworm/sid. My questions are as follows: 1. What goes …

I'm kind of a newbie to firmware, so I'm reaching out to the knowledgeable members of this community for guidance and assistance in achieving this. I'm particularly interested in recommendations for a 64-bit OS that would be compatible with this setup and any steps or considerations I should be aware of during the installation process. …

What about the new Banana PI M2 ultra ? Is it a real SATA controller ? or just one more that is channeled through the USB ? And is this machine likely to be supported by Armbian ? It in short seems to be a little overpriced and the eMMC storage to be to little. And the M3 left a bit bad taste in my mouth, but if it is Sata that gives more speed than USB and if it will be Armbian supported then I might give them another go.

Hi evereyone, After doing some upgrades my Pi-hole Admin Page was not reachable anymore, while blocking still worked. 1. Hey. I'm trying to set up a 3.5" spi touch display with my orange pi zero +2 (H5). I've gotten the display to work - console is displaying fine, and the same with Xorg. However, getting the touch panel to work, seems quite difficult. (I tested it on a pi, so I know the hardware works). I'm *real, real* close (got the LCD flickering!), but I think I need some guidance with the dts file (attached). I've seen…
