Sorry for my stupid question. If I connect by TTL to USB adapter, after setting up login/password, terminal is freezing. Board is Nanopi NOE2. I think this is due to the fact that my adapter is warm or not of poor quality. While I order a new one, is there a way to enable ssh access over the lan network?

If I am using SSH over a WIFI connection and then plug in the ethernet cable, then I lose my SSH connection. Simply disconnecting the cable doesn't resolve the issue; I need to reboot without the ethernet cable connected to reestablish the SSH over WIFI. The system diagnosis is here.

I'm using the Openmediavault+ARMbian image provided by Tkaiser. When I go to armbian-config --> System there is no 'Install - installs to SATA, eMMC, NAND or USB' option (according ARMBian documentation it should be there ). Just checked at a Odroid HC1 and a Banana pi 1, both running the "same" Openmediavault+ARMbian ROM. They also don't have the option van 'Install' option available. @Igor, @tkaiser is this option moved to a different location? Or just not present for the Openmedivault+ARMbian combo?

Hello, Thanks to the help here I got to install a latest armbian mainline version with the Lima OpenGL 2.1 support functional that might have not helped the desktop but is still nice to see the o.s. using any part of this system on a chip. To make some test after glxinfo e glxgears I tried the yquake2 engine with the demo old game and it works. I was expecting considering how old the game is to work faster even if it's accelerated for sure and expecting better quality results (bilinear filtering is not the best and sometimes objects disappear and reappear depending on the scene but it's a good test anyway). I heard lately that has been released a free sof…

I am using ARMBIAN Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS 4.6.3-cubox on SolidRun HummingBoard-i2eX Dual SoC i.MX6 Dual Single Board Computer. I have an USB 3.0 controller attached to the board (via a PCI slot). As far as I know, xhci_hcd has to be compiled for the controller to function properly. In the default installation, xhci_hcd is disabled ( /boot/config-4.6.3-cubox says: "# CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD is not set"). Do I have to setup a complete build environment as descried here http://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ or I can just somehow compile the module on the board itself? Where exactly do I get the sources from? Thanks

Hello. I have a question not directly related to Armbian, but to Linux in general. I just saw my problem fixed here and can't see how. I have most of my multimedia on samba share in my local home network. In Windows i am able to play videos from this share with directly loaded external subtitles (when available). But from Linux it's not that easy, when open share in file manager (double click). In some cases even video/music/pictures can't load from players with some incorrect path errors, but let's say this worked in most cases and focus on subtitles. For some reason when opening videos in Linux with file manager from samba share, only video loads, not the external subt…

QUESTION: I downloaded the BUSTER image (19.11.6 / 5.4.8) .img. In my .GNUPG directory, there is only an empty 'private keys' directory. Is this supposed to be like this or should there be 2 'text' documents next to the 'private keys' directory? One of my former buster downloads from a year ago or so, I know there were 2 simple text documents in the .gnupg directory. I am trying to learn how to send an encrypted message using gpg, but haven't been successful, yet. I was thinking that maybe there is a problem with my .gnupg directory and this is why I'm running into a snag with it. Thank you.

Hi, I'm testing a clone of Waveshare 3.5" (A) TFT with the mainline kernel and I've trouble with colors With legacy kernel works very well until SPI driver hangs (see https://github.com/notro/fbtft/issues/413 for reference) due to a bug So I've decided to test it with the new kernel The TFT is attached on SPI1 and I'm able to correctly load fbtft_device (with ILI9486) and I'm able to start xorg, executing SDL & GLX application But all the colors are wrong. Hi all, I have upgraded an Odroid C2 setup to C4, and encountered some strange issues. The SPI interface of C2 is bit banging, while the C4 offers "real" hardware support for SPI. I use a current kernel (5.10.102) with Bullseye. I use two SPI /CS lines, while one SPI controller takes care of "user" interaction with the LatticeSemi MachXO2 FPGA on the addon board. The other SPI controller is used to reflash the MachXO2 by the SPI. On the C2, everything works fine (while slow, due to bitbanging). On the C4, the same code on Odroid and FPGA fails - but only on the reflashing interface, not the user interface. The user int…

After upgrading to Armbian 26.2, I noticed that if I mounted a network drive (samba, cifs) and even accessed it, and then tried to unmount it (sudo umount -t cifs ...), the system would freeze. Upgrading from Debian 12 (bookworm) to Debian 13 (trixie) didn't help. I did a rollback to Armbian 25.x via backup, and this problem doesn't exist there.

Hi All I cannot seem to find information specific to the Cuibieboard 2 - only reference to BPI running Ubuntu on SATA? Is this still possible? I have been able to do this on my old Cubieboard 2 but with a very old image. I don't know if this is possible with the latest Ubuntu's? If so, please point me to instructions? I have downloaded Armbian 5.3 onto SD card and got one of my Cubie's to boot fine from SD but would prefer either NAND or via SATA (SSD - preferable). I think the way I was able to do this on my old boards was to have the bootloader run from the NAND and then the SSD would take over from there, but…

Hello, I have a few small questions: Cubietruck with latest Armbian Two log folders, /var/log and /var/log.hdd, the first kept in RAM that's regularly copied to the SD-Card, keeping the wear of the SD small This used to work flawlessly, I don't know when this changed Lately I realized that the RAM-disk is flooded very quickly by something that is writing to /var/log/journal/random_hex_number/ until it runs OOM. Almost all other logs are empty, likely because a lot more gets written to the journal log. Unfortunately the content of all files in the journal subfolder contain binary data, the only commonality I see is that all files start…

Didn't see anything from a search of the forums, so ... on a Rock64 with Armbian, I have compiled the 8723bu driver since it is missing. For troubleshooting purposes I want to temporarily have logs written immediately to disk rather than to ram. Will this work? # ramlog OFF sudo systemctl stop armbian-ramlog sudo sed -i 's/^ENABLED=.*/ENABLED=false/' /etc/default/armbian-ramlog sudo systemctl restart rsyslog sudo journalctl --flush # ramlog ON sudo sed -i 's/^ENABLED=.*/ENABLED=true/' /etc/default/armbian-ramlog sudo systemctl start armbian-ramlog sudo systemctl restart rsyslog

Hi I was using my R4S with OpenWRT and with an Elekel WiFi AC dongle without any problem. Now, I've just installed the newest Armbian but I don't know how to use my WiFi dongle. Armbian-config doesn't recognize it ... probably because the driver is not installed. How can I install it? Best regards and thank you in advance

In the past I used a lower end Sandisk's and used external flash drive with nand-sata-install to move system due to endurance. What is the status as of today? Are Sandisk Ultra A1's better than flash drives (i.e. not special "high endurance" ones). I need to ask because the installation is not easy to reach (another part of the city) and current problems may be because of flash failure (didn't get my hand on the devices yet). Any pointers will be much appreciated. PS: I found this today, very interesting read... https://www.delkin.com/technology/flash-endurance/

Hi All, I'm planning to use an RK3399-based system-on-module for an embedded application, and would like some advice about the work required to produce an Armbian build that runs on it. The SoM is made by Graperain ( https://www.graperain.com/ARM-Embedded-RK3399-System-On-Module-Gf/ ), and they have provided an SDK which is clearly an old copy of the Rockchip's github repo (4.4 kernel) with some unidentified tweaks to get it working on this board (including .dts files and presumably some bootloader stuff?). I realize this particular board is likely not of interest to the community, but I figure the general discussion around getting a new board running may be. …

Hi, as I would like to replace my old Banana Pi M1, I wonder which SoC I should use. I'd like to spend maximum 100€. What's the newest supported SoC which is right now available? Already orderes a Raspberry Pi 4 Gb 9 month ago....but still no idea when it'll be delivered. As I really like ARMbian and OpenMediaVault, I'd like to stick with it. I'd like to have at least a quadcore, gigabit-lan and 2-4GB ram.

Dear all, I used win32diskimager to write the armbian image on a 8G sd card and everything works good. when I finish working on the image I read the final image also by using win32diskimager, the size of this image is right now 8G since the sd card size is 8G. After that I wrote this 8G image on a 16 G sd card. when I check the size of this new sd card after writing the 8G image it shows that the sd card size is 8G not 16 G. So, please how can I read an image from a 8G sd card and write it to a 16 G sd card and the size of the sd card remains 16 G to be used later. Best regards

Hello I have a 1440p (QHD, 2560x1440) monitor, but whatever I tried it was always giving me 1080p (1920x1080). I'm using Armbian 24.8.1 Noble Gnome and the resolution settings are in the Displays system panel. I noticed people who had similar problems on the Rock5b, the suggested solution did not work, but hinted to dtb files. After examining the /boot/dts tree of Armbian I found 3 files: /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/orangepi-5-plus-hdmi2-8k.dtbo /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/rock-5b-hdmi1-8k.dtbo and /boot/dtb/rockchip/overlay/rock-5b-hdmi2-8k.dtbo You can decompile the object file with the dtc command from the device-tree-compiler package…

Hey, i bought somewhere on the end of internet some board with AllWinner A10 - ARM Cortex A8 processor. Board was cheap (15$) and had info about compatibility with Armbian. Sound good deal for tests. BUT of course cant be so easy It was true, Armbian working but only version 5.24 Jessie for Lime-A10 from previous age. All newest version booting well but without working usb ports. What i figured out its a problem with device tree configuration but Armbian based on Jessie working with fex files, all newest distributions unfortunately with dts files responsible for device tree config and i dont know how to set up device tree in newer versions. I'm currently running Armbian Ubuntu Xenial Server on a Cubietruck, it works very well, thanks for all the effort! I recently bought a Raspberry Pi 3, installed some of the available images and found them kind of disappointing. The RPI2 and RPI3 both support ARMv7, which should make it reasonably easy to run Armbian Ubuntu images on it. Any chance of getting RPI2/3 support in the future? I would be willing to test work. Thanks!

Hi all, yesterday I updated my system (Banana Pi) to the latest version (5.15, legacy-kernel) with apt-get update && apt-get upgradeAfter the upgrade the fixed-IP for the device was gone. It looks like the link /etc/network/interfaces has been overwritten with a new file during the upgrade - so I had to set up fixed IP again in /etc/network/interfaces like described here: http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-set-fixed-ip For the future I suggest changing the the upgrade-script so that the fixed IP is not overwritten. Hi Folks, In my continuing adventures in Armbian (coming from RHEL/Fedora professionally), I've discovered that Jessie uses very old packages for various things I'd like to use to get closer to a Fedora-like experience. For example, I'd really like to use https://packages.debian.org/testing/net/firewalld. Any advice you could give on how to use some testing packages on Armbian? I thought ensuring 'backports' was listed in my /etc/apt/sources.list file would do it but alas no dice. Hey folks, I know I should rather post in the OMV forums, but those are in maintenance until next week, maybe someone here uses OMV on a HCx. I see a lot of tutorials online and they all have seems to have different ways of going about making a share and it seems most of them are logged into a user as opposed to root. I'm logged in to root through ssh so that might the the cause of many of my issues I believe. I did a simple apt install samba and it seems to be running fine. I see other tutorials recommending you install "smbclient" and "cifs-utils", is that necessary? Some of the tutorials also say to add user groups and to add settings to the firewall. I'm just using 1 user and don't have any firewalls installed, unless armbian comes with one by default. I think my my service is running fine thoug…
