So, I've installed Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepizero2_bullseye_legacy_4.9.318.img on 2 diferent SD cards with same results, I'm not able to figure why they don't run fstab, cron jobs or any other script automatically. Hi! I'm using the Sopine A64 Armbian Buster image version 5.91 in combination with my PineA64-LTS SBC. First off I'd like to say that it runs great, thank you guys very much for providing this fully featured image and thereby keeping this SBC up to date! For the last few weeks I've been trying to get the Pine 64 7" LCD screen to work with it, but so far unfortunately I haven't been able to. What I've tried: Follow instructions to get LCD working as stated on the older brother's PineA64 page: add 'pine64_lcd=on' to /boot/armbianEnv.txt, and add 'gt9xxf_ts' to /etc/modules, then reboot. No luck. Read about the Allwinne…

Hi everybody, Since some time i have a problem with my OrangePi Zero2. Not sure about when it started exactly, but possibly it came with the latest kernel upgrade. Until then the device was working without any problems and absolutely stable. Unfortunately i have no connection by cable, only with Wifi and possibly it is only the Wifi connection which isn't working anymore? I found the following entries in /var/log/kern (which are the latest entries until the device restarts): 2025-02-10T19:54:40.037397+01:00 orangepizero2 kernel: [86427.304061] unisoc_wifi unisoc_wifi wlan0: sprdwl_report_connection sm_state (5), status: (2)! 2025-02-10T19:54:40.0…

Hi, I've opened with tag orangepiprime because there was no a64 tag eventhough in the Armbian site is flagged as standard support, tell me if i have to reopen it elsewhere. Anyhow I'm constantly getting kernel panics during boot, I've tested images minimal/cli images starting from 23.5.1 down to 24.5.0 (just downloaded the image and flashed with balena etcher), attached there are all the serial logs of the boot processes, all of them are the same more or less. I've tried: powering from GPIO changing powersupply changing usb cable 4 different uSD cards changing the board hooking it up to a display and none of them …

Hello, This is my first attempt to install Armbian on a Pine64 + that I bought 2 weeks ago. I created one from the source, but as the battery management failed, I tried it with a constructed image (Armbian_5.69_Pine64_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.13.img), but it's still the same: everything works fine, except battery management. The state of battery and energy should appear as files in the /sys/class/power/directory, but this directory is not created. I can see this directory and the battery information in other images (like the version of the 3.1 kernel of Ayufan). What I have seen is a strange error (for me) in dmesg, related to the power management modules (axp..…

Hi. I have a 2GB Pine64+ and have armbian on it. Yes, it's not new, but I noticed the problem only now. It's because my use - in short, I use these boards for hobbyistic low level programming - say an OS loader writing, so it's flash and test, never been looking into linux too deep - only needed utilities. staring at the top is not of that set. Now, when reached the DT parsing, passed by uboot, on this board, my loader, noticed 1GB of RAM... Basically, 1GB, as I see, is a default value set in the dts for pine64-plus yet. The DT is not updated on the fly by uboot, as it looks should be. and when I went to Linux, I saw the same - it sees it as 1GB! …

I have looked up relevant information on Google. Since 5.6, pine a64 already supports dsi in the kernel mainline. And the Feiyang FY07024DI26A30-D 7inch MIPI-DSI LCD Panel driver and dts already released. But the 7inch lcd above is a video mode panel.I can not found any information about the command mode panel. Is pine a64 mipi-dsi supports command mode from the kernel mainline? Any help is appreciated!!

Hi, Just want to check what the recommended approach is with today's dist-upgrade. I noticed that armbian-bsp-cli-pine64 was held back, so tried a manual install to see what the problem was. Seems like apt wants to remove linux-focal-root-current-pine64 to upgrade armbian-bsp-cli-pine64. Is this a temporary dependency issue? Obviously not performing the upgrade unless informed of the correct approach. BR.

I have OPIZ2 been running for months for node-red and MQTTbroker. Due to crappy configuration I did during the insallation, then I decided to replace the OS and reconfigure all, I used the same SDcard and reflash with same Armbian_23.5.2_Orangepizero_jammy_current_6.1.30. But, beyond this point, OPIZ2 never boots anymore... I tried other armbian version and it is the same dead. If I use a fresh SD card (Sandisk 16GB A1) then it works ok. My question is regarding the SD card imaging ( i am using Balena-etcher), is there something change inside the SDcard after reflash so that OPI does not recognise the booting part anymore??

I am posting the following in the capacity of an errand boy ;) Anarsoul has done a lot of work on the A64 and has custom patches for the Pine A64, SOPine and the Pinebook that have not found their way into mainline yet (his git: https://github.com/anarsoul/). He only does Arch and has no knowledge of Debian/ Ubuntu. I recently asked on Twitter and PINE64 forum which OS users would like to see the Pinebook ship and many users reported Armbian. If anyone would be willing to help incorporate Anarsoul's work into Armbian so that we could have more features working on the aforementioned devices on mainline, then please have a chat with him in the linux-sunxi or pine6…

Hi guys, I've been running an armbian edge image i've compiled using the build tool (armbian bookworm 6.7.12), and it's been working perfectly, with good gpu support and hdmi out working. Now this is not strictly an armbian question, but i've been wondering: is there any way to overclock that chip even slightly? There doesn't seem to be a single post about that that i could find specifically for the H616? Any and all answers welcome!

Seems like the OS "malfunctions" after a few hours to a couple of days. The server is still responding to Pings, but services are all down, such as SSH. Doing a power cycle would make the system available back online, until it becomes non-responsive again. Moving back to 23.11.1 solves the stability issue. To add, I'm using a couple of instances for primary and secondary PiHole DNS servers. Probably similar issue on this thread - I'm a bit of a noob, if someone can redirect me to pasting logs. Can those be found on /var/logs as I haven't explored much. I have downgraded both my OPiOnes to 23.11.1 and Frozen the Armbian firmware updates, so I c…

Hello, I‘m recently updated to Armbian 24.2.1 Bookworm with Linux 6.6.16-current-sunxi. The system is running fine but if I disconnect the network interface, the system gets stuck in kind of a dead loop. This behavior gave me the hint that my WiFi repeater is broken and needs to be exchanged. Anyway, the CPU temperature rises and no further interaction with the system is possible. If I disconnect it, from a normal operating switch, the OpiOne’s behavior looks the same. My problem with this behavior is that after reconnecting the network, it does not get back available, until I do a power cycle. I tried to read …

Currently using Armbian as a PiHole DNS server, it seems that after a few days the server just shuts itself down (Armbian 25.5.1 Noble 6.12). Not sure if it is a hardware related issue, I'll do some more tests and revert back to 25.2.2 Bookworm for now and see if the issue is replicated. Please note that my primary Armbian PiHole DNS does not encounter the same issue, though the version of it is Noble v25.2.3 / 6.12.30.

I'm guessing it wasn't intentional that the current legacy Armbian_5.30_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.105 image for the pine64 wouldn't work without the battery? Hi, Pine 64's delivery is in full swing and thousands of people are receiving/received their Pine64 boards (Mine is scheduled for May). One of the survey shows that majority of the people have chosen to install linux on their boards. Many people are struggling to find a good image for their boards and current some what stable image is based on already end of life 3.10 kernel and there is promising development by sunxi. I am sure that thousands will get benefited if they get Armbian for Pine64. So How about Armbian for Pine 64? Regards, -- Avinash

Hi I have Pine64+ with LCD + TouchScreen - all from Pine team. I checked some OS, but only Armbian DE is responsiveness enough for me. We have initial support for Pine64/Pine64+ for a long time in our repository but not released any official images yet. Since this will change soon a sneak preview what to expect. Hardware related issues: Please don't blame Armbian for the few design flaws Pine64 and Pine64+ show: These boards use Micro USB for DC-IN which is the worst possible decision. Most USB cables have a resistance way too high and are responsible for severe voltage drops when consumption increases, then the tiny Micro USB contacts have also a pretty high contact resistance and also maximum amperage for this connector is limited to 1.8A by USB specs. So in case you want …

Good afternoon. I have great respect for your work (I signed up for an Individual subscription and made a small contribution to Funding equipment in April 2023) Question about Bananapi M4 Zero board The board is assigned the status "Standard Support", but there are no links to a stable image (for example Armbian 24.2.1 Bookworm CLI). There are only links to daily/rolling releases. I understand how much time and effort goes into maintaining a large number of boards. Tell me, can we hope for the appearance of stable firmware versions for Bananapi M4 Zero?

I attached 2 boot logs (with good BT appears and no BT appears), I hope it will help to find out the issue. boot_log_bt_good_02.zip boot_log_bt_bad_02.zip

Context: new Banana Pi M4 zero (rev 2) is using Wifi/BT over SDIO, which requires an sdio overlay. Thanks to Armbian team for providing it. Editing armbianEnv.txt to add "overlays=bananapi-m4-sdio-wifi-bt" did the trick for Wifi but BT is still not available (neither in standard or rolling builds)... @c0rnelius I know you tried to figure out why, I'm missing technical knowledge to help... Digging the Internet I saw similar bluetooth issue for radxa zero 3w with aic8800, resolved using hciattach / hci up, but needing an available /dev/ttyS1 (UART1) we are missing here... Do you know why? Could it be the problem for banana pi m4 zero and if yes could an overlay …

Is it possible on a Banana Pi M4 Zero to reboot Armbian running from SD card, so that the next time it boots from the internal storage, without removing the SD card? (and without modifying sdcard boot sector) I want to create an automatic backup internal storage - so that the system (booted from emmc) reboots, starts from the SD card, backs up content emmc to sdcard, and then reboots again, booting from emmc. Is it possible some how?

Hi, Board: BPI‑M4 Zero OS: Armbian (Bookworm), kernel 6.12.35 (current) This board has two USB‑C ports: one fixed HOST and one OTG. I’d like the OTG port (USB0) to operate as a host as well. I can’t find any Armbian overlay in armbian-config or on the forums that flips USB0 to host. If anyone has this working, it would be cool to let me know . Thanks!

I've been building armbian xenial images for my pine64+ a few times now and it works well. But I would like to switch to bionic if I can. I find it hard to find a good place of documentation for either the 4.x kernel or ubuntu bionic for armbian, specifically for A64/Pine64 boards. If I google, I see tons of forum posts with specific issues, but no coherent overview of any issues with 4.x kernels? And reading through 2-3 years of replies on some threads is a bit much to find the info I need. So what would or wouldn't work on a 4.x kernel on ubuntu bionic? Also, I am confused about who does what, and therefore where to go with problems. How are longsleep or sunxi involved …

I am looking for support library for GPIO, SPi for Orange pi zero2 H616. I searched everywhere but found only 1 library https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/wiringOP. I tested by flashing one led but stopped like the GPIO pins are the same? I don't know what's going on here? Is there a library to support me?

Is there a way to boot the Pine-A64 LTS with Armbian via eMMC? I can use the SD card to boot the armian-Sopine image, but the eMMC memory is not recognized. With the Ayufan image (jessie-minimal) on SD card (https://github.com/ayufan-pine64/linux-build/releases), I can at least recognize the eMMC memory and using sudo dd bs = 30M if = Image / jessie-minimal-sopine-0.7.19-118.img of =/dev/ mmcblk1 copy to the eMMC memory. I removed the SD card and booted with eMMC. There are a number of people working on getting the orangepi zero3 to work with Armbian. The zero3 is almost identical to the zero2 which is a supported board. The differences between the two have been taken into account by upstream Linux and u-boot changes in at least Linux-6.6 to the point where it is possible to build a working zero3 Armbian image. Everything else in theory should be identical between the two boards. Any changes should apply to both zero2 and 3. My question is, what capabilities are supported by Armbian on the zero2. What is working and tested? - wifi -Bluetooth -HDMI -sound -gpio -i2c, spi It would be helpful t…

Hi, just want share a little experiment I am doing to try to solve my Pine64 Boot Crash/Freeze Problem using a external (MCU) microcontroller to assist it. [MCU and Pine Drawing] [Actual Prototype Photo] The idea is very simple, just "watch" the SystemLED to detect if the system is booting normally, and if NOT, then issue a hardware reset, then, keeping repeating this process until the SystemLED indicates that the system is booting up... I am trying to document the process here is this tutorial page: http://www13.plala.or.jp/pskitty/copineon.html Files, source code, high quality pictures here on GitHub: h…

I am trying to configure a splashscreen in u-boot on an orange pi zero plus using Armbian. The screen is connected through spi1 using the ST7789v chip of the LCD. Hey folks, I have a really weird issue where any time I try to `cat` any of the cpufreq files or use any of the cpufreq commands, it just hangs indefinitely. I've made sure that everything is up to date, reinstalled cpufreq, and because I have 2 of the same board, have confirmed that it's an issue with both of my Zero 2s. I also ran `strace` on one of the cpufreq commands and found that it's getting hung on a write step: openat(AT_FDCWD, "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor", O_WRONLY) = 3 write(3, "ondemand", 8 Other than this, the device has been doing just fine. Any advice on this is welcome! OrangePi Zero2 Armbian (24.11.1) aarch6…

I have been reading into this for some hours now, and it seems like I will need to write (or perhaps modify from some existing) DTB overlay or something like that? I tried following the instructions here, and using a .dtbo file (hifiberry-amp100.dtbo) I copied from OSMC I have here on an RPi 3, but I don't think that's right as it mentions 'brcm,bcm2835' which I suppose means it can only be used with RPi. The above mentioned .dtbo file seemed to be in some binary format, although I could still make out some text in it. I tried to setup/enable some other components and I am successful with upstream linux kernel 6.2RC5: - displayengine (drm, fb, mixer, tcon, hdmi) (seems to have some I2C/EDID problems) - videoengine (cedrus) (in testing now) - gpu (3d mali, panfrost) - dma, efuse, thermal ... but I am unsuccessful with - crypto (total different behavior in contrast to H616 manual) and untested - audio codecs and hdmi audio - opp power management (frequency + voltage) for CPU and GPU - SDIO wifi I was also succ…

In short, I'm trying to build a FULLY-PREEMPT-REALTIME system to run on my Orange Pi Zero 2W. I used this post as a reference, and got quite far. But, I'm stuck on something that I believe I undestand, but don't know how to resolve. I don't believe this is a probleme specific to my board though. What I've done so far with success is both install and run a pre-built Armbian Image on this board, as well as build my own image and run it. Both work perfectly. Now, I'm attempting to apply the RT patch and build a fresh image (or even just a Kernel) to get the FULL REALTIME kernel support working. However, the build sy…

Hi all, I'm trying to change access my zero 2 via hostname instead of IP (e.g. https://mypizero2.local/). I've changed the hostname through sudo armbian-config but just cannot connect to it via hostname. Has anyone managed to get this working?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask for help in a few subjects where I am a bit lost. I have an orange pi zero 2 (h616) with a tpm2 module and I need some specific kernel modules to be able to build my application on top of the orange pi zero 2 (h616). What I have done: Compiled the trusted firmware from master and generated bl31.bin Compiled the U-boot bootloader from master and generated the u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin Compiled the linux kernel version 5.15 (LTS) with the modules I need (mainly about tpm specific modules) and generated the kernel Image Compiled the modules from this kernel Compiled and generated the device tree binary (.dtb) for t…

Hello, I want to monitor the temperature of my Pine64, because I run the pine in an relatively warm environment. Unfortunately, the usual ways do not lead to a reasonable result: I tried the armbianmonitor: "armbianmonitor -m" with this result: Time CPU n/a load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU 17:08:20: --- 0.00 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% -13552°C 17:08:25: --- 0.00 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% 0% -13673°C and read the file: /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp: contains the same wrong value -13552 Is there a way to activate the temperature measurement? I am using th…

I am a bit lost how to create a bootable micro SD card with Armbian version for Pine64 board... I've downloaded Armbian_5.20_Pine64_Debian_jessie_3.10.102.7z file from Armbian site, extracted it using 7Zip on my Windows 7 machine and got following 6 files: armbian.txt armbian.txt.asc Armbian_5.25_Pine64_Debian_jessie_default_3.10.104.img Armbian_5.25_Pine64_Debian_jessie_default_3.10.104.img.asc sha256sum.sha AS I understiid, the *.img file is the disk image itself. However writing it to the SD card (using Etcher, as recommended, as well as Win32DiskImager that I've always used to write Pine64 images, then also tried with Rufus) renders t…

Hello. I'm a bit confused, i have a PINE64 board ("PINE A64+", 2GB mem.) (this one : https://www.pine64.org/?product=sopine-a64-baseboard-combo) I installed some years ago ARMBIAN on it - everything is running fine. But i'm still on kernel 3.X something : ``` uname -a Linux pine64 3.10.107-pine64 #2 SMP PREEMPT Fri Feb 8 10:23:10 CET 2019 aarch64 GNU/Linux cat /etc/armbian.txt ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Title: Armbian 5.73 Pine64 Debian jessie default Kernel: Linux 3.10.107 Build date: 28.01.2019 ... ``` …

Hi everyone, I’m trying to get a 3.5-inch RPi display with the XPT2046 touch controller (480x320 resolution) to work on my Orange Pi One (H3). I’ve been looking for guides, but most of them are Raspberry Pi-specific and not directly applicable to the Orange Pi. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: Installed Armbian on the Orange Pi One. Connected the display via the SPI interface. Installed fbtft and tried different configurations for the screen. However, I haven’t been able to get the display to show anything or to interact with the touch input. Does anyone have experience using this specific setup? What drivers or overlays shou…

Hello. Because of bad CB1 eMMC board manual, and very incompetent and formal tech support (they approve that their boards can only be used for 3D printers🤦🤣) I don't understand, what pins (GPIOs) of CB1 eMMC board are used for I2C and SPI interfaces. And what pins will correspond to I2C and SPI interfaces in armbian-config -> System -> Hardware? I tried to test the board with the Pi4b_Adapter, but as I understood from pinout in the manual for the adapter (the pins for I2C 3 and 5) don't work with CB1 (NC - not connected), it works only with CM4. Does anyone know what other I2C pins are exposed on the adapter board? I plan to use the CB1 board as a platform for …
