After a recent (long overdue) update on my pine64 I found that pps-gpio was no longer working. Further investigation found that the default kernel configuration with 4.19.x no longer includes CONFIG_PPS_CLIENT_GPIO (nor CONFIG_PPS_CLIENT_LDISC). Anyone wishing to use pps-gpio (via overlay) will need to configure and build a custom kernel. user@pine64:~$ cat /etc/armbian-release # PLEASE DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BOARD=pine64 BOARD_NAME="Pine64" BOARDFAMILY=sun50iw1 VERSION=5.76.190218 LINUXFAMILY=sunxi64 BRANCH=next ARCH=arm64 IMAGE_TYPE=nightly BOARD_TYPE=conf INITRD_ARCH=arm64 KERNEL_IMAGE_TYPE=Image user@pine64:~$ uname -a Linux pine64 4.19.25-sunxi64 #5.76.…

From reading through the forums I cobbled together what I thought might work for getting spi nor to boot, but it fails: Activate the spi-jedec-nor overlay in /boot/armbianEnv.txt : overlays=spi-jedec-nor param_spinor_spi_bus=0 Then, after reboot, "cat /proc/mtd" should produce something like this : dev: size erasesize name mtd0: 00200000 00001000 "spi0.0" Here is where it fails - I just get the heading, with no mtd0: 00200000 00001000 "spi0.0". Should I be using a different param_spinor_spi_bus? I assume that once that works, the following will work? apt-get install mtd-utils cat /usr/lib/linux-u-boot-next-orangepiz…

Hi all, I am trying to get an OV5640 camera working on the orangePiOne. I found this thread and was wondering if the overlay (or some overlay) is still required. Without anything extra, the camera is not detected. It says that sun6i-csi and ov5640 kernel modules should be loaded, so I loaded them manually with modprobe but nothing happens and nothing is shown in dmesg. Adding the mentioned overlay with "sudo armbian-add-overlay csi-ov5640.dts" just gives me an error in dmesg at reboot time "failed on fdt_overlay_apply(): FDT_ERR_NOTFOUND Error applying DT overlays, restoring original DT" uname -a Linux orangepione2 6…

Hi, Wasn't sure where to start this as it's at-least potentially and partially off-topic regarding Armbian. First of all, thanks for what appears to be the best distro for the small ARM-soc devices, including the PINE64. I really appreciate all the work and houtrs that many people are dedicating to the project. Some history: The Logitech Squeezebox Touch was launched in April 2010) It has 4.3" colour touchscreen Connects to Logitech Media Server (LMS) through Ethernet or Wifi and plays songs stored there or from a wide range of internet sources. Supports 16- and 24-bit audio with a sampling rate of up to 96 kHz (or up to 192 kHz, enabled by us…

Hi, Pine 64's delivery is in full swing and thousands of people are receiving/received their Pine64 boards (Mine is scheduled for May). One of the survey shows that majority of the people have chosen to install linux on their boards. Many people are struggling to find a good image for their boards and current some what stable image is based on already end of life 3.10 kernel and there is promising development by sunxi. I am sure that thousands will get benefited if they get Armbian for Pine64. So How about Armbian for Pine 64? Regards, -- Avinash

Hello. I see some progress in H616 (OPIZ2) support in mainline linux (now 6.2RC5 comes with USB) - https://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort . I tried to setup/enable some other components and I am successful with upstream linux kernel 6.2RC5: - displayengine (drm, fb, mixer, tcon, hdmi) (seems to have some I2C/EDID problems) - videoengine (cedrus) (in testing now) - gpu (3d mali, panfrost) - dma, efuse, thermal ... but I am unsuccessful with - crypto (total different behavior in contrast to H616 manual) and untested - audio codecs and hdmi audio - opp power management (frequency + voltage) for CPU and GPU - SDIO wifi I was also succ…

On a clean Armbian image (Armbian_23.5.2_Orangepizero2_jammy_legacy_4.9.318.img) I am not able to connect to an AP. nmcli or nmtui produces errors (https://paste.armbian.com/ogowinebol). This also holds for the other jammy_legacy images in the archive. When testing on the stock images provided orange pi I am able to connect with both the Orangepizero2_3.0.6_ubuntu_jammy_server_linux5.16.17.img and Orangepizero2_2.2.0_ubuntu_focal_server_linux4.9.170 images it works. Connecting also works on the Amrbian focal_legacy images I tried.

I have tried searching but there doesn't seem to be much info on PPS support. It is a standard part of modern kernels and should be pretty consistent. On a Pine64+ using mainline kernel (debian-stretch-next) I chose an interrupt-enabled pin (PH9) updated /boot/armbianEnv.txt with overlays=pps-gpio uart1 uart2 param_pps_pin=PH9 and rebooted. I have a device (a GPS) with its PPS output connected to the Pi2 bus pin 13 that corresponds to PH9 and during boot this appears to be configured as a new PPS source: [ 5.548061] pps pps0: new PPS source pps@0.-1 [ 5.548135] pps pps0: Registered IRQ 145 as PPS source /dev/pps0 is indeed created by udev…

Hi, I am glad you are interested to help us. A long time ago at the end of 2015 the Kickstarter was founded and since middle of 2016 the hardware is available. If you look at our download page of Pine64 you can see that since then we have collected a lot of information of which some of it maybe obsolete/outdated/resolved: https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ Now, if you are a lucky owner of such a SBC you have THE CHANCE to help the armbian project. Will you please download the latest Xenial legacy kernel 3.10.y and verifiy if some of the problems listed on the website are already solved in the current release? And if so, please re…

LCD support does not appear to be working in the latest builds (stable kernel 5.8.6, development kernel 5.9.7) My understanding is that this has been an issue for a while with A64 boards, specifically the Pine64, but that it was working at one time. Here's what I've tried so far: -Followed instructions at https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/ and added "setenv video-mode sunxi:480x272-24@60,monitor=lcd,hpd=1,edid=1" to boot.cmd and put "saveenv" at the end, re-compiled boot.scr -Did a modprobe of panel-olimex-lcd-olinuxino -Rebooted several times -Ensured that LCD jumper was closed and verifie…

Hi al!! I managed to find img with which my OPi Zero 2 starts, it's Armbian_22.02.2_Orangepizero2_focal_legacy_4.9.255. But it stops load after first `apt upgrade`. I've freezed kernel with armbian-config. Now I want to use wireguard + nftables. But everytime i'm trying to set wg up I've message: [#] nft -f /dev/fd/63 /dev/fd/63:1:1-26: Error: Could not process rule: Operation not supported ... Quick google search showed something concerning nf_tables module in kernel or something like this. (I'm not an experienced linux user). Is there any chance to set up my OPi Z 2 with wg + nftables? Thanks.

I am currently developing a custom board which is based of the Pine64/Pine64-R18 dev board. I previously had an issue with the ethernet not working at u-boot level using the sopine based R18 board, this I resolved by patching u-boot with the relevant emac sections that were missing from the device tree. On the custom board we have used the R18 processor with the LAN8720 ethernet-phy chip rather than the RTL8211 used by the pine, and can't get the ethernet to initialise. We have checked rmii clock timings etc and compared the custom board to the Pine and have noticed the following:- MDC has been measured to be running at 18.6Mhz, resultin…

Hi, I have a couple of these boards which I have been using with Armbian and the old, 3.10 kernel. Ideally I would really like to go mainline as later kernels have some functionality that would be useful for my use of the board. The only remaining reason (apart from cpu freq.) for sticking to the 3.10 kernel has been the lack of MIPI DSI support in mainline, but now I see that, despite the Matrix at http://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort still being red for A64 mipi, some work is being/has been done by Maxime Ripard. I'm just wondering if anyone here knows if a working mainline kernel with DSI for the Pine 64 is starting to look like a p…

Currently using Armbian as a PiHole DNS server, it seems that after a few days the server just shuts itself down (Armbian 25.5.1 Noble 6.12). Not sure if it is a hardware related issue, I'll do some more tests and revert back to 25.2.2 Bookworm for now and see if the issue is replicated. Please note that my primary Armbian PiHole DNS does not encounter the same issue, though the version of it is Noble v25.2.3 / 6.12.30.

Good afternoon. I have great respect for your work (I signed up for an Individual subscription and made a small contribution to Funding equipment in April 2023) Question about Bananapi M4 Zero board The board is assigned the status "Standard Support", but there are no links to a stable image (for example Armbian 24.2.1 Bookworm CLI). There are only links to daily/rolling releases. I understand how much time and effort goes into maintaining a large number of boards. Tell me, can we hope for the appearance of stable firmware versions for Bananapi M4 Zero?

Hi, I really apologise if the information is out there and I just haven't found it. I was looking to buy a board for a small embedded GUI application and this one seems to fit the bill. I would like to use Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HDMI. Is there a list of what is working or not working on each build/version? (This is probably a more general question to Armbian for any device) The only thing I could find is this: But it's not that recent. On the download page: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2/ under specifications it does list, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi but I'm not sure if this means its now working? …

I am looking for support library for GPIO, SPi for Orange pi zero2 H616. I searched everywhere but found only 1 library https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/wiringOP. I tested by flashing one led but stopped like the GPIO pins are the same? I don't know what's going on here? Is there a library to support me?

Hello, I am new to Armbian and Linux in general. I am using an OrangePi Zero 2 (H616) board and need to enable the hardware UART. To do this, I tried using the simplest method I could find: running the command armbian-config -> System -> Hardware. However, in the section where I should find options for peripherals to enable, I found nothing. I have tried installing different versions of Armbian, but nothing changed: - Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepizero2_jammy_current_6.6.31.img - Armbian_24.2.1_Orangepizero2_bookworm_current_6.6.16.img - Armbian_23.8.3_Orangepizero2_bookworm_current_6.1.53.img - Armbian_24.5.1_Orangepizero2_noble_current_6.6.31.i…

Hi everyone! I'm trying to build my own distribution for the Pine64, and I use armbian as a working reference. I'm able to compile ATF + U-boot + Kernel + rootfs and the board actually boots and I get a console over the serial interface and over HDMI. The problem is that GbE Ethernet does not work. It appears that the 8211 phy is not powered. The good guys on the pine64 IRC pointed to the ATF, where the DC1SW regulator should be turned on in order to power the phy. On armbian everything works just fine. I think I messed up something in the build - wrong version / config / dts in either ATF, U-boot or the linux kernel. …

Hello! I have three Libre Computer Tritium H5 boards and three eMMC modules on hands. All three eMMC modules is flashed with exactly same Armbian image and exactly same uboot. I also use exactly same PSU and cable for all three boards (however I reproduced this issue with four PSU and three microUSB cables, no difference in behavior was found). All three boards start just fine from microSD (so it's not exactly "Your board doesn't work?" case). One board never boot from eMMC on first power up, but almost always boot on second power up. That reproducible with all three eMMC modules. Two other boards just never boot from any eMMC module…

Hello, I am looking for a specific legacy image for the Orange Pi Zero 2W: Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Kernel 5.10.160. The reason I need this specific version is to use the device as a USB UVC (Webcam) gadget via ConfigFS. On the newer 6.6/6.12 mainline kernels, I am facing a "Permission Denied" error when trying to write to hHeight, even as root. After researching, it seems this is a known kernel-level restriction in newer versions, and the legacy 5.10 kernel is the most stable for UVC gadget functionality. I’ve checked the current archive mirrors but could only find the 6.6.x versions. Could anyone provide an official archive or a reliable mirror link …

HI, recently downloaded Armbian Jammy CLI for Orange Pi Zero 2 It boots up but doesn't display anything on HDMI. I have to access it via remote ssh on another computer. Any way to enable the HDMI. I was hoping to run a desktop on it. Reading different forums it's suggested that the default check is too short so HDMI is disabled but I've no idea how to disable this. Will there be a desktop version of Jammy for Orange pi Zero 2 available to download? I'm using Jammy with a desktop on a Orange Pi One and it works fine. Thanks

I'm guessing it wasn't intentional that the current legacy Armbian_5.30_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.105 image for the pine64 wouldn't work without the battery? I need to use a 10 inch 800x600 DSI display in a Pine64 project and I think the easiest way to do this would be to modify the driver for the Pine 7 inch DSI display. It appears to me that the display resolution is hard coded in this driver (panel-feiyang-07024di26a30d.ko) and not supplied by a device tree overlay like some other Armbian SBCs. In the C source for this driver, I see the following data structure which defines a 1024x600 screen size for the 7 inch display ... static const struct drm_display_mode feiyang_default_mode = { .clock = 55000, .hdisplay = 1024, .hsync_start = 1024 + 310, .hsync_end = 1024 + 310 +…

Not sure if this has been reported - the usual way of enabling spi overaly "overlays=spi-spidev and param_spidev_spi_bus=x" seems to be broken and when an overlay fails at boot time, it tries to load the base dtb from /.../alllwinner/allwinner/*, note the extra allwinner in the path - so it fails. The pin definitions for the Euler SPI are wrong. When you manage to get both SPIs up. SPI 0 is being enabled as spi1.0 and SPI 1 being enabled as spi0.0. It also fails to merge board neutral ili9341 SPI definition files (at boot time) that has always worked on H3 and H5 boards. To work around for now, use the following ( spi0.dts, spi1.dts) to get the spidev's up …

I recently bought a couple of A64-LTS boards from the Pine Store, but I couldn't get the official Armbian images to boot on them. https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ I could, however, get Manjaro to boot on them, and when I created an SD card with U-Boot from the Manjaro SD card, and the partition from the Armbian (Bullseye CLI) image, it booted into Armbian. I noticed, though, that Manjaro distinguishes between the Pine A64(+) and the Pine A64-LTS. Tow-boot also makes the same distinction. So I wondered if maybe Armbian wasn't booting on my A64-LTS boards because it wasn't making that distinction, but it should be. (I also noticed that …

I have been reading into this for some hours now, and it seems like I will need to write (or perhaps modify from some existing) DTB overlay or something like that? I tried following the instructions here, and using a .dtbo file (hifiberry-amp100.dtbo) I copied from OSMC I have here on an RPi 3, but I don't think that's right as it mentions 'brcm,bcm2835' which I suppose means it can only be used with RPi. The OPi supplied image was quite flaky so I had to find a way to mash these together. And this is the result. It does need to be run as root ! I have OPIZ2 been running for months for node-red and MQTTbroker. Due to crappy configuration I did during the insallation, then I decided to replace the OS and reconfigure all, I used the same SDcard and reflash with same Armbian_23.5.2_Orangepizero_jammy_current_6.1.30. But, beyond this point, OPIZ2 never boots anymore... I tried other armbian version and it is the same dead. If I use a fresh SD card (Sandisk 16GB A1) then it works ok. My question is regarding the SD card imaging ( i am using Balena-etcher), is there something change inside the SDcard after reflash so that OPI does not recognise the booting part anymore??
