  1. Hi, Thanks to the hard work of your team, the Pine64-plus touchscreen now works great with the mainline kernel and legacy images are no longer listed in the download options, but it looks like some of the instructions at https://www.armbian.com/pine64/ are still referring to the "old way" of doing things: ie: Pine64’s own LCD with touchscreen support can simply be activated in /boot/armbianEnv.txt by setting pine64_lcd=on and adding gt9xxf_ts to /etc/modules followed by a reboot. The LCD screen is now activated by manipulating the DT overlays, which can even be done from armbian-config - hardware, and the touchscreen module is…

  2. Hi, I've changed the default console from ttyS0 to ttyS3, using the mainline kernel with overlay "/boot/dtb/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-a64-uart3.dtbo". Unfortunately when I run command "sudo shutdown -r now" (or sudo reboot) my pine shuts down instead of reboot (although the console output says "reboot: Restarting system" at the end.) [Hard reset reboot works with "reboot -f" using ttyS3 console]. Using the standard console I can reboot my pine without problems. What could case this behavior? Is it necessary to disable or kill a ttyS3-process before the reboot?

  3. I tried to get armbian running on my new pine64. Therefore I downloaded the latest two 7z-files for debian and ubuntu. But neither of them does an auto-resize nor does the first boot took more than 30sec - contrary to the documentation. I'm using the SD cards delivered with the pine64 (16GB). In a related post I've found there has been "update-rc filesystem defaults" to (re-)trigger the process (or update.rc). Neither nor I've found. How can I get the distribution created in the correct way on the SD card?

  4. I'm running Armbian 20.08 Focal on a Pine64 with 2GB RAM. Mostly everything runs fine, but I do have a problem with getting audio out of the headphone plug. In pavucontrol I can see audio is playing (an internet stream) on Built-in Stereo, but nothing can be heard when connecting speakers. To be clear: I don't want audio out of HDMI, but just from the headphone plug. I have also played around with alsamixer and unmuted everything that was muted and turning up the volume, but still no audio to be heard... Has anybody gotten this to work?

  6. I've been having issues lately with the later versions 22.11 and above. At some point when I reboot, I'll get those 3 "Read-only file system" messages on boot: mkdir: cannot create directory ‘/root/.cache/oh-my-zsh’: Read-only file system rm: cannot remove '/root/.zcompdump-orangepizero2-5.8': Read-only file system zsh: locking failed for /root/.zsh_history: read-only file system: reading anyway What is happening?!

  7. I am currently developing a custom board which is based of the Pine64/Pine64-R18 dev board. I previously had an issue with the ethernet not working at u-boot level using the sopine based R18 board, this I resolved by patching u-boot with the relevant emac sections that were missing from the device tree. On the custom board we have used the R18 processor with the LAN8720 ethernet-phy chip rather than the RTL8211 used by the pine, and can't get the ethernet to initialise. We have checked rmii clock timings etc and compared the custom board to the Pine and have noticed the following:- MDC has been measured to be running at 18.6Mhz, resultin…

Hi, I've been trying to get my DS1820 temp sensor working but cant seem to get the device to show up om my orange pi zero 2 running Orange Pi 3.0.6 Bullseye Most info i find starts our with run armbian-config but orangpi doesnt have it. All i got is the orangepi-config but it doesnt have the "Go to the “system” section and select “Hardware” then activate w1-gpio." so i was looking arround and found you need to enable overlays in /boot/armbianEnv.txt but dont have it aswell but the alternative /boot/orangepiEnv.txt there i add the /boot/orangepiEnv.txt overlay_prefix=sun50i-h616 overlays=w1-gpio param_w1_pin=PC8 …

  11. I have been reading into this for some hours now, and it seems like I will need to write (or perhaps modify from some existing) DTB overlay or something like that? I tried following the instructions here, and using a .dtbo file (hifiberry-amp100.dtbo) I copied from OSMC I have here on an RPi 3, but I don't think that's right as it mentions 'brcm,bcm2835' which I suppose means it can only be used with RPi. The above mentioned .dtbo file seemed to be in some binary format, although I could still make out some text in it. I can't even seem to find the uncompressed (plain text) versions, I searched OSMC and HiFiBerry repos (amongst others), I don't th…

  12. I have a feeling this was caused by a p[roblem with the definition of ftdfile variable: line from boot.cmd: load ${devtype} 0 ${fdt_addr_r} ${prefix}dtb/allwinner/${fdtfile} from the serial output: File not found /boot/dtb/allwinner/allwinner/sun50i-a64-pine64-plus.dtb ** note the duplication of Allwinner. Since I couldn't find where it was defined , I just copied the allwinner directory into itself.....:-) which fixed the problem. Perhaps someone could look into this? thanks.

  13. First off, I would like to give the crew at Armbian a huge heartfelt thanks for all the awesome work you do under sometimes trying conditions. I would like to present Archian, the bastard child of Armbian & Arch. Why … well, the project I am working on needed current versions of phosh & plasma-mobile and the versions on jammy/bookworm were quite old. The OPi supplied image was quite flaky so I had to find a way to mash these together. And this is the result. It does need to be run as root ! The script has 3 arguments: init - downloads the armbian image file, arch rootfs and arch packages. You need to then write …

  14. I wanted to try anything other than the original image that the device came with. I was more interested in the Kali port but after trying for a few hours with pretty much all the images available here I had to revert to the original one. So I was wondering if anyone here ever tried these images or could give me some hint on what is wrong with it ? Basically just getting a red led with no display when trying all the images. I know the original image had a some sort of special boot process where the initial startup would take some time but I know nothing else about armbian at this point. My goal was to start doing some test with kali liking t…

  15. Hello, First of all, thank you so much for putting these images together. Kudos to you all for some great work! Now on to my issue. I installed Xenial build and it booted up nicely to XFCE. The only issue I am having is no audio over HDMI. I know the display works for HDMI audio as my nVidia Shield works fine. Any help on determining the issue? If you need any logs, boot messages, and/or config files, let me know. Thank you in advance, Brian

  18. I've got an Pine64 a that was one of the Kickstarter models. For a couple of years I've been running OctoPrint on it to run my Qidi i-mates 3d printer. Recently I decided to update from jammy to noble, before I did that I made a backup of my OctoPrint settings and files through the OctoPrint GUI in case of problems. I got a really messed inconsistent with all sorts of dependencies errors because the apt dist-upgrade seemed to freeze and after several hours of no movement I rebooted. As expected it was the mess. 20. Hello. The BigTreeTech TFT35 SPI works well but has ghost touches. So it's unusable for control tasks like on a 3D printer. 21. Hi, Just want to check what the recommended approach is with today's dist-upgrade. I noticed that armbian-bsp-cli-pine64 was held back, so tried a manual install to see what the problem was. Seems like apt wants to remove linux-focal-root-current-pine64 to upgrade armbian-bsp-cli-pine64. Is this a temporary dependency issue? Obviously not performing the upgrade unless informed of the correct approach. BR.

  31. Hi, Since I still couldn't find a enclosure for my Pine64 H64 model-B, I mocked up one myself using a Eur 6,50 Raspberry Pi 4 case. 1) From the USB/ETH connector side I cut out the sections in between the connectors since there is a small offset that pushes the Pine64 board aside when closing the case. 2) From one of the cover lulls, I cut out a section to fit over the IR sensor. 3) On the HDMI side I cut out the two ports holes of the RPI micro hdmi connections and I made a notch in the USB-C hole to fit the power connector of the Pine64. 4) Drilled a hole in the cover large enough for the WIFI/BT antenna connector, on the board,…

What’s interesting is: If I disable and re-enable Wi-Fi in the network manager, it automatically reconnects to the known network without asking for the password again. Alternatively, a system reboot also restores the Wi-Fi connection automatically. I have already seen o…

  58. Hello, I am looking for a specific legacy image for the Orange Pi Zero 2W: Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Kernel 5.10.160. The reason I need this specific version is to use the device as a USB UVC (Webcam) gadget via ConfigFS. On the newer 6.6/6.12 mainline kernels, I am facing a "Permission Denied" error when trying to write to hHeight, even as root. After researching, it seems this is a known kernel-level restriction in newer versions, and the legacy 5.10 kernel is the most stable for UVC gadget functionality. I’ve checked the current archive mirrors but could only find the 6.6.x versions. Could anyone provide an official archive or a reliable mirror link …

When testing on the stock images provided orange pi I am able to connect with both the Orangepizero2_3.0.6_ubuntu_jammy_server_linux5.16.17.img and Orangepizero2_2.2.0_ubuntu_focal_server_linux4.9.170 images it works. Connecting also works on the Amrbian focal_legacy images I tried.

  97. Is it possible on a Banana Pi M4 Zero to reboot Armbian running from SD card, so that the next time it boots from the internal storage, without removing the SD card? (and without modifying sdcard boot sector) I want to create an automatic backup internal storage - so that the system (booted from emmc) reboots, starts from the SD card, backs up content emmc to sdcard, and then reboots again, booting from emmc. Is it possible some how?
