Hi, I think I may have posted about this in a few places, but I'm not sure where most are looking to discuss helios64 issues. The problem I am having is that the fans do not turn at all. As per the wiki, I've tried setting fancontrol off, and checking that the pwm value goes to 255, which it does but still no movement. I am using the fans supplied in the kit. There is nothing obstructing the fans, and sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect them from the board they will twitch a bit, or spin for a short while (until the connector is fully down against the board), but nothing otherwise. I've also tried heating the cpu up to ~85C (e.g `cat /dev/rando…

Hello, i'm experiencing random reboots on my RockPi 4b. I firstly recognoized this when my Squid Proxy Server was not working anymore because it had no permissions to its var/log/squid directory. What i saw (lsblk) that /var/log/ is only of a size of 50mb. Will that be the cause for the reboots? Does the system crash when the logs are full? My System is a Rock Pi 4b with 32gb emmc storage. Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.4.192-rockchip64 Armbian Release 5.90 (i dont know how to change to the next version as armbian-config does not provide the switch to next button) Output or Armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/22oZ

  7. Hi. I'm using an OrangePi RK3399 and if the power supply from the 12V barrel jack is removed, the LTE module connected to the mPCIE port dies. Does anybody know how to make the mPCIE port work while on battery? The mPCIE dying is due to the port being powered from the main power supply line VBUS from the barrel jack (before the BQ25700a battery charger IC, according to the board's schematics). I don't know why power is not supplied from VSYS like everything else on the board. So, what I've found is that if I want to power the mPCIE port from the battery, the reverse OTG mode from the BQ25700a battery charger IC would need to be set (allowing voltage to flow from the bat…

Hello everyone. Please help me with the following problem. I have a Rock Pi 4b 1.4 (with SPI flash). I did the boot from the NVMe SSD using the image rkspi_loader-v20.11.2-trunk-v2.img according to the instructions. I installed Armbian 23.11 Jammy XFCE on NVMe SSD KingSpec NX 1TB. I’m using a power supply Baseus 65W GaN Pro (with PD). The system loads and works well. However, the system cannot reboot. When i click on reboot, the system starts to reboot and after the reset goes into a cyclic reboot. I need to turn off the power to reboot. What could be the problem and how to solve it? 12. I successfully booted this one and connected over Ethernet. Haven't checked WiFi yet. However, the observation comparing to the original Rockchip's Jammy image: the serial port goes quiet after the U-Boot fires up the kernel. The bootloader on the board and the _original_ kernel use non-standard 1500000 baudrate serial speed for the console. I haven't looked into Armbian's guts yet, but I assume it's a matter of right kernel boot arguments for this board to actually spit out kernel output over serial. What I'm not sure is if the console can be cloned between serial and UI over HDMI (console on the frame buffer if I'm right). I'm open to…

When using the "boot from SD install to NVMe" option of armbian-config it offered the option to format the NVMe drive with btrfs. When I selected that option, it briefly flashed an error about the partition being too small (even though I had created a 120GB partition). The actual problem appears to have been that btrfs-progs was not installed. After installing that package and rerunning armbian-config it was possible to btrfs format and install successfully. I suggest the error message could be improved. Armbian_22.11.1_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_5.15.80_minimal.img.xz

  19. Hello everyone. I have a defunct Helm Email server which carries a Rockchip rk3399 SoC. I have flashed with a custom Armbian image provided by the Helm folks. After flashing the box with the .img file, I am able to ssh into the new armbian box and go through the basic initial armbian setup. 30. I first made a self-built image for nanopi-r2s and everything is fine. But another self-built image of Nanopi-R2S seems refuse to boot after enabling these configurations: `DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT`, then `DEBUG_INFO_BTF` and `MODULE_ALLOW_BTF_MISMATCH` But the LED on RJ45 blinks, and I can ping the IP that I get from my router DHCP, but SSH connection refused. So I guess it may have booted, but refuse SSH connection. I have no TTL serial connections yet, I'll check it and post the logs here some time later. Can anybody help? How can I enable ssh with? Is it possible to enable it at build stage? Thanks.

  31. If you want the fans of your Helios64 to start spinning earlier, look no further. This will allow the fans to spin at a constant speed from the earliest stage of initrd until fancontrol is started by the system. My use-case is for full disk encryption and recovery in initramfs, sometimes I can have the machine powered on for quite a while before fancontrol starts. Or, if the boot process encounters an error the fans may never start, this prevents that. Step 1: Tell initramfs to include the pwm-fan module echo pwm-fan | sudo tee -a /etc/initramfs-tools/modules Step 2: Create a new file at /etc/initramfs-tools/scripts/init-top/fan with the followin…

  35. Hi all, For most Nanopi devices there are packages in the registry which contain the u-boot files, for example: https://mirrors.dotsrc.org/armbian-apt/pool/main/l/linux-u-boot-nanopi-r4s-current/ Is there a reason these packages aren't present for the Nanopi R6S? The reason behind this question is that I used to extract the u-boot from these packages to experiment with other OS'es which have no official release for a certain device. Of course I can get the u-boot from the downloadable images its first couple bytes, but downloading just the package is way smaller. If there is another source to obtain the u-boot blobs I am all ears. …

I have tried using different cable and different ports on the router, a network restart, system restart but noting. If anyone can offer a suggestion of what else to try it would be appreciated.

  54. Hello, I installed OMV on my Helios64 and created a share. The device stays online and works well for hours and then at some point eth0 goes offline and no longer communicates. The only way to restore connectivity is with a reboot. I looked at the logs and dont see anything jumping out at me as to why this happens but I could very easily be missing something or the log didnt capture the event. I have not yet tried to console in through the USBc port when this occurs but will try next time. Has anyone else seen this issue or fixed it?

Hey there, for quite a while I was using my Station P1 aka T-Firefly ROC-RK3399-PC-PLUS (with a nice case welded around) as crude NAS and wanted to do something new. However for unknown reason I cannot boot from microSD. I am used to that the Armbian boot loader should switch to microSD when detected so other OS can be used. Does not work though. It always starts booting from SPI which is fine in theory and then jumps to eMMC which boots fine. With SD inside it does the same. If I remove the eMMC module u-boot stucks to PXE which obviously fails and then drops to U-Boot shell. I played with that shell for a while including recovery…

Can someone please help me understand how Armbian for Rock64 is developed? In the past, there was an image for the Rock64 that was a server image, not a desktop image. Now, I see Ubuntu and a Debian Stretch desktop images, no server image. Is there a plan to build a server image going forward? Also, will a newer kernel be built at some point? Not trying to stir the pot or cause trouble, just trying to understand where the Rock64 support is going in the future. Thank you for all the spectacular work the Armbian team does.

I noticed strange behaviour when this SBC was attached to a 2k QHD screen with the latest vendor kernel. Display size was limited to FullHD instead QHD and Firefox were crashing.
