I'm putting together a build for a 3D printer, rk3308b-s board that has no ethernet, just a Fn-link wifi chip that is a knock-off of an rtl8192fs. I pulled the OEM dts and it describes the chip as an rtl8192cs. I'm pretty sure this is an out of kernel driver and my searches indicate I put source in userpatches. What do I need to add in the board/*.csc file to build to an image with the kernel module(s)? I do have a ralink ra2400, a mt7201 and some supported realtek dongles and If connected, I could git the code build and moprobe the module to test. Ideally, I would like to incorporate the driver via dkms in a armbian build. Can someone point me to the pro…

Good afternoon. I have a Rockchip 3566 tablet.oscal pad 70 wifi I'm writing using Google Translate, so there may be some inaccuracies... I apologize for that! motherboard R863T-RK3566-DK-V1.0 wifi module wxt42j1001s - driver for android only I understand it's probably very difficult...isn't the processor too old for our times? Or is installing Armbian probably not an option? Thanks from the bottom of my heart to everyone who responded.

I seem to have hit another problem with my Helios64. It seems that overnight, HDs 4 and 5 disappeared and no longer seem to be powered. I've disconnected all the other drives and tried it with just 4, and it seems to be a power problem as the drive activity light seems to light up for a short while, but not at full prightness. Also I note that SATA 4 and 5 are on a separate power line to the other 3. Anyone seen this before? Is it fixable?

Not sure if this is the place for this since it isn't really a software issue, but... So I decided to take apart my Helios64 to apply the 2.5Gb/1Gb Ethernet fix and things went badly. I ended up accidentally destroying the 402 caps on one of the SATA ports by scrapping the board against the standoffs as I was pulling it out of the case. As far as I can tell, they should be part of the SATA standard, 10nF DC blocking caps, so I have a rough idea of what they might have been but I don't know for sure since they are simply gone. Does anyone happen to know what those caps were or have access to a circuit diagram or BOM I could referenc…

This is a continuation of ata1.00: failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED noted by @djurny. I've experienced the same issue, and have some additional data points to provide. My observations so far: I'm using WDC WD60EFRX (68MYMN1 and 68L0BN1) drives The drives were working without issue previously behind a ASMedia ASM1062 SATA Controller, I've also used some of them behind ASM1542 (external eSATA enclosure) I can reproduce the issue on a clean install of Armbian 20.08.21 Buster and Focal I can reproduce via simple `dd` to `/dev/null` from the drive so filesystem does not seem to be the underlying cause Every drive is affected (i.e. e…

After kernel version 6.12.6, the overlay to enable SATA on the PCie is not included in the build anymore. So https://github.com/armbian/linux-rockchip/pull/237/commits/5bdf4a4243e6c149290cdd2c8f5a7d1a1946670e is not effective anymore. The existing .dts can be compiled and works with kernel 6.12.10-current-rockchip64 and 6.13.0-edge-rockchip64, but then NVMe is not enabled. From Rock3A schematics and RK3568 datasheet I see that there is no reason that it could not work as the NVMe is on independent PCIe 3x2 lanes in the M.2 M-key connector. PCIe 2x1 lane meant for WiFi/SATA is on E-key connector. It looks like 'entity PCIe is mixed up' somehow.…

Hi all, thanks to you guys on here I now have a fully functioning 4 * SSD drive NanoPiM4 using the SATA hat. What I'd like to do now, is, place the drives in some sort of drive enclosure that would have 4 SATA data inputs and be powered by the molex on the hat. Is it possible and is there such an animal ?

I received one of these https://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/server-cases/rackmount-case-accessories/accessories-spare-parts/supermicro-cse-m14tqc-cse-m14tqc/ today to go with the Nanopi M4 SATa hat, it has a male Molex for input power, the SATA hat has a male Molex power outlet so I need a female to female Molex connector which I can't find anywhere - any ideas guys ?

Here's some photos of my M4 with SATA hat and 4 SSD's in a drive case - all working beautifully

My Sata SSD drive works very slowly on Orange PI 4, using usb 3.0 port. On PC based on Windows 11 via usb 3.0 it works correctly. I found problem on Armbian 23.02(trunk, 30.12.2022, edited parameters: installed software, bluetooth parameters) when I try move system onto SSD, first time it works normaly, but not so fast, as expected and automatically starts in read only mode. Read only mode I have fixed. Sometimes it breakes ext4 partition, that I've fixed using fsck, and fix again when ext4 breakes again and not working/works badly. After some time it begun freezing. I tried to find solution by myself, but not found good advices. I've tried some mounting parameters, …

I have a Rock Pi4 B (rk3399) and I do not find the solution to use my native screen resolution with the latest kernel: 1600x1200. It was working fine with Armbian Bionic Legacy kernel 4.4. However, despite my tinkering, I do not find how to make it work with the latest kernel (option is not available in the Display Setting, xrandr manipulation did not give any success). Any pointer towards a solution would be greatly appreciated. Below the output of xrandr for the two images I ran. Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 4.4.198-rockchip64 Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1600 x 1200, maximum 8192 x 8192 HDMI-1 connected pr…

If anyone is interested, I've created a shell script that can be run with cron to check A/C and battery status, and do a graceful shutdown when a battery threshold is met. It also logs power outages, battery drain when off A/C, and when it posts a shutdown (if any). This is a simple script, nothing fancy, but works for me. It has a granularity of one minute (cron is limited to one minute intervals), but I've been able to keep the system up on heavy load for 4-5 minutes before the script generates a shutdown on low battery. The script is generous -- it waits for 916mV or less before a shut-down. This value was provided by the KOBOL team on their Wiki as the…

I’m helping my friend set up Helios64 with OpenMediaVault as a media server. We’d manage to set it up as per your documentation mentioned on your wiki page but are stuck on SD-Card to eMMC migration. As after migrating with no error so far we’re still unable to boot the system without the SD-Card in Helios64. We still couldn’t figure out what could be the problem? Can you guys help?

Hello, I just received my SeedStudio Recomputer RK3576 and I have a well working machine thanks to the armbian team using the debian Forky image. I try to understand why i cannot connect a (usb) minipcie modem (already testing 1 year use with Radxa zero 3 W), all usb ports not working anymore! There is a strange note on schematic pdf : If the PCIe1 or SATA1 function of Combo PHY1 is selected, the USB3 OTG1 function cannot be used, and even the USB2 PHY1 function cannot be used But they also notice the support of usb link on this minipcie : LTE LoRa Module: Module:EC20/EC25 WM1302 SPI/USB Version Zigbee: USB Version The miniPCIe…

Hi all, I want to try the new Armbian, but before I do, I need to get this Orange Pi 5 Max updated with whatever UEFI project is still maintained and supports it. The UEFI I have installed right now is a hacked relic from a now abandoned ARM distro that was given to me -- I assume surely this has been superceded by a more legitimate source? Thanks kindly for any updates, looking forward to rejoining the Armbian family soon as my UEFI is updated

Hello Armbian Rockchip community, I'm working on getting Armbian based on the 6.1 BSP kernel running on a custom RK3328 board (specifically the MKS SKIPR for a 3D printer). This board is very similar to the libre renegade rk3328-roc-cc - just a few minor GPIO pin changes are required. I want to use the 6.1 BSP kernel because I expect it to have mpp video encoding capabilities. There is an existing repo that has this board working on the 6.7 mainline kernel with a couple of gpio patches. I've made some progress but am running into issues and could use some guidance. So far, I've been able to: Compile and run the basic 6.7 kernel for the MKS SKIPR - fr…

I first made a self-built image for nanopi-r2s and everything is fine. But another self-built image of Nanopi-R2S seems refuse to boot after enabling these configurations: `DEBUG_INFO_DWARF_TOOLCHAIN_DEFAULT`, then `DEBUG_INFO_BTF` and `MODULE_ALLOW_BTF_MISMATCH` But the LED on RJ45 blinks, and I can ping the IP that I get from my router DHCP, but SSH connection refused. So I guess it may have booted, but refuse SSH connection. I have no TTL serial connections yet, I'll check it and post the logs here some time later. Can anybody help? How can I enable ssh with? Is it possible to enable it at build stage? Thanks.

Setup: Helios64 with Armbian 20.08.8 Buster with Linux 4.4.213-rk3399. Will change to Linux 5.8 soon though. 5 x 8 TB drives. Not using battery. I’ve had this issue ever since beginning to use my Helios. It first happened when I tried building a RAID with OpenMediaVault: It would crash and reboot while building. Sometimes after only 10 minutes, sometimes after 8+ hours of working. The same is true for video transcoding nowadays: it will sometimes crash after a little while, sometimes after a few consecutive hours of working, but it will never be able to work much longer than 12 hours on such a task. Copying large files from the internet has a similar risk of c…

Using P14 in the documentation (https://wiki.kobol.io/helios64/usb/#serial-console) I am unable to get a serial connection to work. Has anyone been able to get UART2 debug Serial working using P14 and an FT232 USB cable? With Kobol plug pulled looking to just have this run in DAS mode over USB-C to still get use without fear but still need to maintain serial console to monitor booting as it sometimes locks up on boot. Downclocking to 1Ghz or below conservative seems to do a lot better but still looking to have remote debug console. When I try to connect I just get the follow error and no output. pl2303_get_line_request - failed: -32

I see the latest images for the Rock64 are marked as desktop. I am looking for a lightweight server only version. I still have an older server version that I downloaded a while ago, specifically 5.59. If I install 5.59, can I do and apt-get update/apt-get upgrade to get to the latest version? Any issues with that approach? Thanks!

I'm trying to use it with a TV that has HDMI input but it's 1360x766. xrandr says it's running at 1920x1080. It's very small, like keep a magnifying glass handy, and I don't have the bottom of the screen where LXDE puts the pager and buttons. I thought from my Raspberry Pi experience that I'd just change the mode in my config.txt https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/video.md but apparently the Rock64 isn't that evolved. Can I set an HDMI mode in my armbianEnv.txt? Can it use CVT modes? The standard 1360x768 mode isn't quite right. I've been around this stuff since you had to work out an xfree86.conf file on paper and take ti…

Hi there, I'm setting up microk8s cluster on: 2 x RockPi 4A (Linux 6.1.63-current-rockchip64) 2 x Rock 5 B (Linux 5.10.160-legacy-rk35xx) Installing microk8s and connecting cluster went without issue. My next step was to install https://microk8s.io/docs/addon-mayastor in order to create distributed volume between my nodes. The problem is that mayastor require linux-modules-extra which is not build for my kernel versions. I tried few different kernels but this module is not present there as well. My question is: Is there something what I can do? Is it possible to build this module for 6.1.63-current-r…

I've installed Armbian_v22.05.2_Rockpi-4cplus_jammy_current_6.1.33_minimal and whatever I try to play a 1080p video via the performance is horrible with very slow refresh, totally unusable. Normally loki gives me acceptable performance on SBCs of similar performance but not in this case. The Rock 4c plus is quite powerful so I'm really shocked at how badly it's performing. Let me be clear, I understand that the issue I see is not that the Rock 4c plus isn't cable of playing video, clearly it is and I'm not complaining about the hardware of the device. It's just that the software being used clearly needs to be optimised for it and most things out th…

Hey all! Finally got my Rock64 booted up and running. I set up a Samba server and a Plex share so I can access an attached USB3 RAID array as a media server. Initially I was getting speeds of ~3 MB/s write and attributed it to transferring over wifi with an ancient Airport Express Draft-N router. Upgraded to a Netgear R7000P and the issue still persists so I figured it would be worth it to post here. I would've attributed it to the USB3 to eSata converter going to the RAID array but doing some disk speed tests on the Rock64 shows it getting about 130 MB/s read/write speed over the connection so I doubt it's that. Samba setup is stock and my share described bel…

Dear to all, I have a Helios64 unit with 2 hdd (both WD60EFRX). Hello, I've bought 3 new identical drives and put 2 of them in the Helios64 and 1 onto my desktop. When I reboot with kernel 6.8.4 (edge) installed by apt upgrade, I noticed my scripts that uses snapper for remove differential backups. I on Armbian Bookworm, but also with other Debian Bookworm based OS running those same kernel binaries. Same failure with 6.8.5 Currently I don't know any more, I could run this faulty kernel in a VM as the .config is such that it also boots on virt hardware (virt-7.2 as Bookworm uses). Hello, As stated recently I had setup a Rock5B with Jammy/Mutimedia and had issues with a 2160P / 3840 x 2160 screen. Initially bootup would show a flickering screen. Adding the custom resolutions via cvt/xrandr and setting line in boot env: "exrtaargs-video=HDMI-A-1:3840x2160@60" fixed that issue However the initial login screen and logout screen resulted in a vibrant flickering background . This was on a Sceptre 50" TV and other perihperials would normally work fine. This took a while to figure out because I was confusing my active desktop provider and Gdm was being used: https://askubuntu.com/questions/91…

Gentlemen, I have a rock64 board, and I would like to use an external RTC module with DS1307 chip. Unfortunately the armbian kernel does not provide DS1307 driver by default: root@rock64:~# cat /boot/config-4.4.162-rockchip64 | grep DS1307 # CONFIG_RTC_DRV_DS1307 is not set I don't have the programming skills for sending a pull request to enable this module. Could you please enable this module for ROCK64? I believe other ROCK64 owners may also benefit from this driver, as the board does not expose a working RTC, and DS1307 is a very common RTC chip. Thanks in advance.

On a Rock 5B, I installed Armbian 23.11 Bookworm CLI via a SD card and now trying to setup boot via the NVMe drive. I followed the instructions on https://www.armbian.com/rock-5b/ to create a partition on the NVMe drive, format it, then tried `armbian-install` to boot from SPI. However armbian-install does not list the option to "Boot from SPI". It shows only the following options: 1 Boot from SD - system on SATA, USB, or NVMe 5 Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC I then noticed I do not have a SPI device. /dev/mtdblock0 doesn't exist as well as "cat /proc/mtd" is empty. # ls /dev/mtd* ls: cannot access '/dev/mtd*': No such file …

Good morning, I am an electronics engineer, and wanted to make an additional card for the nanopi neo3 based on the rk3328 to add an EMMC and an SPI memory to it so that it no longer uses an sd card. By dint of searching the forum, I managed to modify the dtb files of the neo3 to include the spi@ff190000 of my neo3 and to make the dtbo files spidev and jedec. But unfortunately, armbian-config cannot finish the job. For information I use a N25Q064..3E (flashroom information with active spidev) and goes back well in /dev/mtd0 in jedec. but in my armbian i have no file /usr/lib/uboot***spl.bin. Maybe the problem …

Hi, I have one silly problem developing a FBTFT device driver for SSD1322 display : https://github.com/MarkoBursic/fbtft---SSD1322/blob/master/fb_ssd1322.c The initialisation starts OK, all GPIOs (DC, RESET, CS) follows as they should, since the data is sent through a function write_reg. For example : write_reg(par, 0xA0, 0x14, 0x11); It asserts DC low, then sends 0xA0, then asserts DC high and sends 0x14 and 0x11. Within every sent character (8bit bata) the CS toggles. The problem becomes when I want to send video data, I guess a function write_vmem is called. But here the entire tx buffer is filled and then streamed. for (y =…

But when I checked spi with this tool:https://github.com/torvalds/linux/blob/master/tools/spi/spidev_test.c I only got the result below and no matrix appears... spi mode: 0x0 bits per word: 8 max speed: 500000 Hz (500 KHz) Here is what dmesg | grep spi returns I have checked the output from the proper GPIO with oscilloscope but found nothing. almost spent couple weeks on this Anyone had the same issue or knows what to do here?
-
I enabled spi-spidev through armbian-config but it does not show in the /dev/ directory. How do i fix this?

I have had major problems trying to use spidev on the pine RockPro64 SBC running Armbian_24.2.1_Rockpro64_jammy_current_6.6.16_xfce. I have posted these comments on the pine.org forum also. I think there is a problem with the spidev device in Armbian as it never toggles the CS line. When I controlled the CS line from my software, I could communicate, but the received data was wrong. I have no experience with the device tree, but I suspect an isue therein. To bypass the problem I wrote a bitbang routine and it works fine and gives the correct data. See the attached file for my discussion. usingspi.txt

Hi, I’m using the Helios64 with Armbian 20.11 Buster ( 5.9.10-rockchip64) On every reboot the SMART counter for “Unexpected_Power_Loss (174)” / “POR_Recovery_Count (235)” incresses by one. I’ve seen this unexpected behaviour on Samsung, WD and Crusical SSDs … Rebooting the box with sync && echo 1 > /sys/block/sdX/device/delete && reboot turns the disk friendly off, but shouldn’t this be done in systemd/kernel?

Continuing the discussion from here On a clean install of 20.08.21 im able to crash the box within a few hours of it being under load. It appears as if the optimisations are being applied root@helios64:~# cat /proc/sys/net/core/rps_sock_flow_entries 32768 The suggestion @ShadowDance made to switch to the performance governor hasn't helped. Anecdotally, I think I remember the crashes always mentioning page faults, and early on there was some discussion about memory timing. Is it possible this continues to be that issue?

I'm working on a new distro which is an ARM port of slackware64-15.0 beta. The cooked image is here: http://mirrors.aptalaska.net/slackware/slarm64/images/helios64/ This image is built using the build scripts at https://gitlab.com/sndwvs/images_build_kit/-/tree/arm/ The high level view is that it's downloading the kernel from git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git (linux-5.12.y) then applying the patches found at https://gitlab.com/sndwvs/images_build_kit/-/tree/arm/patch/kernel/rk3399-next then builds the kernel with config https://gitlab.com/sndwvs/images_build_kit/-/blob/arm/config/kernel/linux-rk3399-next.config…

Hello, I have been holding onto kernel 5.10 (5.10.21-rockchip64 to be exact) for a while as it has been pretty stable for me and also because I heard bad feedback from newer kernels on the Helios 64. But with the recent discovery of the DirtyPipe exploit (which has been introduced in Linux 5.8), I might be looking to upgrade to the latest Armbian kernel (which contains a fix to the vulnerability). So, my question to fellow Helios64 users is: have you encountered any issue with kernel 5.15, especially when using OpenMediaVault 5, Docker, MergerFS and NFS?

I upgraded from my own-compiled Armbian kernel 6.8.0-rc5 to 6.8.4 and there are now very annoying stall when for example I drag a KDE Konsole window. Also when I play a 1080p50 HEVC video, as son as a move the mouse, the whole video stalls. Besides 6.8.0-rc5, the normal apt provide 6.8.1-edge-rockchip-rk3588 also works OK. 6.8.5 has the same issue as 6.8.4. As indicated, I use KDE, X11, compositor disabled. Enabled makes no difference. OS base is Armbian Bookworm, but I have also used kernels 6.8.1 and 6.8.4 with a rootfs copied from an RaspberryPiOS and Opensuse-Tumbleweed. RPiOs is also Debian Bookworm, Tumbleweed is latest, KDE6. So it is not KD…

I get static noise on the analog audio out when no sound is playing (I use alsa). I tried to add a configuration file in /etc/modprobe.d which disables power saving (as this appears to be the usual reason for static noise), but this does not work. Does anyone know how to resolve this?

In page station m2 -armbian say: Important. For the new images to work, it is necessary to update the u-boot in eMMC on M2\P2. The new version of u-boot is compatible with the existing official versions of Station and Ubuntu, which are released by Firefly. To upgrade to the new version of u-boot, you need to follow several steps. 1. Download a special version of the image from the link. download link but the download link: Nothing found There's a typo in the link, or the owner deleted the files or restricted access to them. Please update the download link, thanks!

Hi guys, sorry if this question might sound stupid, but how do I open the M3 enclosure? There is no instruction in the manual, nor on the stationpc website. I just bought this little box and I am not sure if this has some screws or some other closing system. I can see the four rubber buffers on the bottom of the box, but I don't want to harm those without reason. Can anyone tell me how to disassemble the box? Thanks in advance.

I have nfs server. Whenever I do "systemctl stop nfs-kernel-server" I can see this in dmesg: lockd: couldn't shutdown host module for net f00000a1! Later when I do "systemctl start nfs-kernel-server" I see this: NFSD: starting 90-second grace period (net f00000a1) Of course "systemctl restart" gives me both messages in a row. Any idea what does it mean? What the hell is this "f00000a1"? Except strange messages everything seems to work fine...

My Helios64 has been running without issue for quite a while -- at least a month. Now -- no power. Last logs on the SD card looked to be early in the morning yesterday. D9 is solid amber with battery, flashing without. No other LEDs on the board are illuminated. I've removed from the case and disconnected the previously attached drives just in case. On initial power the fans spin briefly and then ... nothing further. I've tapped and held various combinations of power and reset, etc -- no change. Can confirm with a voltmeter the original supply is making +12v. Can confirm a separate known working ATX supply on J10 has a constant +12V and …

I'm sick of having to play reset-it-until-it-boots-then-it-reboots-later game, anyone know a similar motherboard I can use in place of the helios64 with minimal extra messing around? I totally understand that the front and back panel will be a problem to set up, I just don't want to have to hack the main case part, and have support for the five SATA ports.

Hallo, I've been using Armbian on the NanoPi M4 V2 for a while and now I'm thinking about switchen from the legacy kernel to the current kernel. Unfortunately that's not so easy to do when using armbian-config. You could think you can just select the current-kernel in the list but you won't find it there. The reason is simple: the legacy kernel belongs to the rk3399-family and the current kernel is rockchip64. Which is basically the same, but from an organisational point of view it is not (please forgive me if I do not show an adequate technical precision here, the details and the plan to clean that up are explained here). What I would be intereste…

I'm running Armbian on a 4 GB Rock64, downloaded and installed yesterday. I've been using Debian/Raspbian/Armbian for about 10 years and I've really come to rely on Synaptic for searching and being able to make download scripts. Not every day but about once a week especially if I'm setting up something (like this Rock64). This Synaptic's access to the package database seems incredibly slow. A single search may take 20 minutes. After installing something it reloads the list and shows it on the screen, that can be another 20 minutes. During this time it's got 1 thread using 100% of one CPU. Typing is sometimes impaired, window repainting usually. …

Hi! I have an rk3588 board that has a dma330 controller. I have this driver that essentially polls a dmac channel and it memory maps the data that is received into user space. Now, this driver was developed with the idea to receive data from a peripheral, however, before that I just want to test it by doing some memory to memory transactions. To that end I developed another kernel module that acts as a transmitter (code attached: aerietest.c). However, I am not able to link the transmitting end of the channel with the receiveing end. I added the following code in the device tree: aerie@0 { #dma-cells = <0x01>; compatible = "lyte-ai,l2"; d…

Dear all I have a question concerning the Tinker Board video playback function. Until now I used some raspberry PIs 3b to create a simple system that video playbacks in loop after booting for my video installations. Now as the raspberries are not in stock at the moment but i need very urgently another working system, i saw that i can buy the tinker board 2.0 for a reasonable price. However, I'm not a programming specialist and was happy when I got the raspberry to run, I couldn't found anything about the tinker board and specially about a video loop function. I imagine that it is possible, just wondering how complicated it is. Can someone tell me …

Hello everybody, I'm new with the SBC and with Armbian and I hope you can help me. I'm working with a Tinkerboard 2 R2.0, where i would like to be able to cut the USB ports supply. I have noticed on the Tinkerbords R2.0 schematics the USB_OUT_EN_5 line. I'm wondering if this line is conneted to a CPU pin and, if it is possible to drive it? Does anybody know a way to cut the USB ports power supply? Thank you

Since the specific USB hardware support is now in place, I thought it would be good to discuss pitfalls and remedies for transitioning to a modern kernel. I have now tested the 6.8.5 based Armbian. None of the latest packages (.408 - .411) come up with HDMI output. You have to have a serial console connected, and then correct the problems. 1) This is what you are greeted with: [ 6.828040] panthor fb000000.gpu: [drm] *ERROR* Failed to load firmware image 'mali_csffw.bin' To fix this do apt install armbian-firmware-full and reboot 2) The 8821cu driver has performance problems. Also, the stupid "windows" adapter comes up …

Hi All, Below command works well on my other boards(Intel with Fedora and Ubuntu) $ compton -b --backend xrender This command make windows background transparent so it doesn't hide lower window completely. But same command doesn't work on RK3288/RK3399 board. Any idea what should be done to achieve same. Does anyone have idea if anything customized in x-server related to this?

Hello, we have a strange thing here. Since ... (I don't remember), the tray number 2 is not working. We tried with 3 different disks but each of them, when inserted in tray n2, aren't start. Why ? And how to fix that ? Thank you. PS: other trays (n1, n3, n4, n5) are ok.

Hello, Apologies for wrong tag, but I am hoping one or more can help with what has been a frustrating process for a Linux\Orange Pi newbie. Background information: I got Orange Pi 800 due to shortages with Pi 400. I wanted to run home assistant on it. Came to determine to get what I wanted would entail having Debian installed and not Ubuntu. Flashed the micro sd card and the Pi 800 does not boot to it. I was able to remote to it via Putty, but I was not able to set it up correctly. What ended up happening was Debian got installed but not in the way I expected. The Orange Pi desktop still boots but I get system application error. The Orange Pi can see the micro…

Hello everyone. I have a defunct Helm Email server which carries a Rockchip rk3399 SoC. I have flashed with a custom Armbian image provided by the Helm folks. After flashing the box with the .img file, I am able to ssh into the new armbian box and go through the basic initial armbian setup. The box recognizes my 1TB nvme drive, so I then create a primary partition and format the nvme using fdisk and mkfs. I then install armbian-config and use it to install the root system to the nvme0n1p1 by using the following option on the menu: System -> Install -> 1 Boot from SD, and chose the nvme0n1p1 partition. After that I verify the BootE…

Hi, I'm trying to fully boot an Orange Pi 4 from a USB flash drive from Uboot's prompt before it actually loads the kernel from the SD card (The SD card already has a working image of Armbian installed, that's where the board pulled Uboot from and is booting from it). The SD card currently has Armbian_23.5.1_Orangepi4_jammy_current_6.1.30_gnome_desktop installed on it. The reason why I'm trying to boot the board from USB is that I want to try an image with Orange Pi 4's legacy kernel to be able to take advantage of its vendor Mali blob for performance comparison against the current open source Panfrost driver in mainline kernel. And that I don't ha…
