Just installed Armbian on a TicTid X9T Pro which has: - 3Gb of DDR3 - 32 Gb eMMC - Amlogic S912 with an Octa-Core CPU - WiFi Dual band - Bluetooth 4.1 - Gb LAN port - GPU which does 4K HD fine Also installed the desktop which presents itself in HD 4K mode (connected to my new LCD TV just fine). Then installed Kodi from default repository. Noticed that it would crash on startup. Changed the default Desktop resolution to HD (1900X1200) afterwards and noticed that KODI started fine in HD mode. Seeing now though that KODI is not using the GPU rather it is doing the VM for video driver t…

  2. I have a ShellCloud TV Box, below are the parameters: CPU: RK3328 RAM: 2*512M=1G emmc: 8G 4*USB3.0 (usb hub) 1000M Ethernet port -RTL8211F Android 7.1 I want to install Armbian on it, but when I used Armbian_5.75_Rock64_Debian_stretch_default_4.4.174.img , it could not start, if I use omv4-rk3328-0.7.9-armhf-image, it can be started, but no network, the box could not get IP address. it seems that the dtb file did not choose correct, right? As it's a new box, what should I do?

  12. These days I am playing with an inexpensive ($25) Amlogic S912 TV box that I managed to get Oleg's excellent Armbian Ubuntu 18.04.2 image 5.75 with Linux 4.20.5 kernel running on. For the moment it has shown excellent stability and performance. I am attaching the results of running sbc-bench by Thomas Kaiser on this diminutive Linux box: it beats just about every other SBC except the RK3399 SBC's, and even matches or is faster than these in some cases. However the best part is that it is running a mainline up to date Linux kernel, not some heavily patched vendor kernel from a couple of years ago. Right now I am running the more extensive Phoronix Bench…

  17. Hello everybody. Finally I have signed up for the forum. Been reading here for awhile but never really had a reason to signup until now. I got a tv-box the other day which I have been playing around with. I dont have much experience working with the arm64 architecture, I have mostly been playing around with ultrasparc and the mainline architectures. I have no problem getting the system to boot and work but I cannot get all the boards features to work so my OCD is not allowing me to let this pass without exploring all options. The box in question is a s905x MXQ Pro 4K. It has 1gb memory, rtl8189etv wifi chip and what I think is a nand chip…

Hi, new to armbian here! I'm coming from libreelec looking for a less limited operating system keeping mediacenter features of libreelec (mostly kodi) I installed Armbian_5.44_S9xxx_Debian_stretch_3.14.29_server_20180601.img.xz (it boots only versions with 3.14 kernel, others don't work), I found that it has not wifi drivers because it is not working, just eth0 is shown with "ip a". Is it possible that drivers for this box are missing? With libreelec it works like a charm. Thanks in advance!

  19. Greetings! I have an S905 based TX3. I have not really heard much at all about this box. I hear about the S905W based TX3 and another S905D based one if I recall but this is NOT THOSE. 20. [ This thread started more or less here : And what do you think about porting to a cheap Android TVBox ] If anyone's interested we can discuss Armbian or linux for those rk3288 devices here. I'll start with mine (Q8 without front panel) which is the XT-Q8L-V10 from enybox (Chiptrip Q8 on gearbest or that other EKB328 on Aliexpress with front panel). I have a feeling that those boards are discontinued and being put on sale as end of stock. There are various other boxes with rk3288 which prices are pretty high (>80e) and were probably seen at some point as high end boxes. Other threads for that board can be found here…

Ok, I updated the boot manager so it is now more portable and added some convenience features as well. Be aware that it is not beginner friendly, you need at least some knowledge about writing and editing u-boot scripts, Uart cable is not needed but can be useful during testing and setting up. I rewrote the script in python using curses so It's now more elegent (in my opinion anyway) I tried to get it as close as I can to look like grub2 interface: Now let's explain How it works: First, the sdcard must contain at least two fat32 partitions: -First partition(fat32) (label=RECOVERY) content: This partition contains the main boot manag…

  25. I propose to discuss the use of TV boxes (SbC) as a multifunctional complex that can be used as a PC and a universal media center. I've been testing a lot of different models lately that may qualify for this role. Later I will publish General notes, which I got on different models of processors and specific models of TV boxes.

  28. Hi. Thanks so much for the effort that's been put in to this. It's really quite amazing what I can do with my little TV box! I've had some issues getting armbian to work fully though, and I believe it's entirely down to the dtb.img not being quite right. 30. M9Plus 4k TV Box - An Exercise in Futility? My apologies for the verbosity of this post. I have an Android box marked M9 Plus 4k on the top. It was given to me, as a gift. There are no other markings on the box, and the user manual that came with it is all but useless. There is no web site listed, and no way to find out who made the thing. Tech specs are listed below. After playing with the Android and a bunch of apps from Google, for about 3 months, I finally got around to doing the sensible thing, and switched it over to Linux. Specifically LibreELEC. That market is starting to see PCIe and USB3 attached 4x4 wifi chips and at very cheap prices. I brought back some dirt cheap RK3399 TV box boards back from China in June with AP6255 (2T2R) chips that perform much better than expected as an AP for upto 5-6 simultaneous clients. I get approx 425Mbps with 1 client, ~295Mbps with 3 clients and ~165Mbps with 6 clients. Thats line of sight in a ring approx 3 meter radius around the AP. Put in an old D-Link DWL-G122 usb stick and whilst it's recognised by the usb sub system no driver gets loaded. I have installed armbian-firmware-full and there seems to be relevant firmware for the RALINK devices. but iwconfig does nothing and the device does not show up in "nmtui" I have to admit it's probably 13-14 years since I had to manually do anything with a linux driver so I am rusty! Any ideas? Cheers TT

I also tried to extract the dtb from mmcblk1boot0 without any luck... anyone that has a good howto for this?

When I plug it, it creates a /dev/usb/lp0 port that is enough to make the printer work. But I am unable to get the same working on the amlogic images. No port is created when I add the USB printer. Could it be missing UDEV rules? Or usblp driver not being loaded by the kernel? May someone give me a light? I noticed while reading tutorials that when I run and-sata-install it's supposed to ask me where to boot from, but all it does is copies all my files to /dev/data. How can I tell it to boot from eMMC? I notice near the end it says four times: /dev/boot: no Android Magic Value /dev/boot: not a valid Android Boot Image. Any help appreciated thank you!

  96. I'm able to successfully boot-up into Armbian_5.37_S9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29 but got stuck instead at the root login due to the following issues... 1. Tried using usb keyboard - No response. 2. Tried SSH via WiFi or usb Ethernet - Failed to connect. I'm using 150balbes method of installing the image to SDCard. I also had input the required details on first run armbian.txt file. From documentation, I've understand that USB support in u-boot currently not enabled on all H3 boards. How to enable the usb support? TVBox : S-BOX Amlogic S905X TV Box

Hello, I am trying to control volume Up/Down and mute through alsamixer with no success. When launching alsamixer the only changable device is DAC Digital, but actually it does not change anything, the volume remains at "56" and won't change. It is almost not possible to control volume through alsamixer or amixer command line. The only control I have found is the mute/unmute through /sys/class/amaudio but not the volume level ! It is the case for all armbian (debian, ubuntu) servers packages. I think some thing goes wrong... Any help or hint would be appreciated. Thanks
