  1. Hey guys! Cheap Android tablets based on allwinner chipsets were pretty common back in 2012. Recently I found an tablet equipted with an Allwinner A10 SoC (LY-F1) lying lonely around on my fathers desk. He bought that tablet back then because of the cheap price, but never really used it. Luckily my father also saved an Android 4.0.4 ROM he downloaded from the suppliers website back then, because all websites of this supplier are offline now. After playing around with my OPiZ and seeing how well the sunxi/armbian kernel works, I thounght myself i should try to boot linux from this tablet. At first I tried to pack an image that can be directly writte…

  3. After installing Ubuntu Focal 20.08.17 (on Pine A64), I have noticed the following. Searching for packages which are not fully installed with dpkg -l|grep -v ^ii returns systemd-timesyncd. This can be fixed by purging the package with dpkg -P systemd-timesyncd but it is better if the image is shipped with this already fixed. Can other users confirm this issue and can it be fixed when building the image?

I’ve done some searching, but haven’t found a clear answer. i have a rockpi-s with a built in eMMC that has a bootable armbian image. When i insert a micro-SD card into the RP, and the card has a bootable image, it happily boots off of the card. Remove the card, and it boots off the eMMC. Perfect. Now, how do I duplicate this same functionality with a usb key? no key or sd = boot from eMMC SD inserted = boot from SD USB inserted = boot from USB I’ve been able to get the RP to boot from the usb using armbian-install to set it up, but then if I remove the USB, it no longer boots from the eMMC.

This appears to work but it does not boot into the new RT kernel. Downloaded the deb file and used sudo dpkg-i and it also failed to boot yet this command works if we install a RT kernel we built in the build environment Ran armbian-config and tried to install the kernel but alas its not displayed in the list. Now, out of the box, Armbian (Buster, Focal, etc..) video playback stutters on Full HD (720p and up) content, particularly at full screen. I understand this is because I need to install a binary blob driver for the GPU? I've done this on normal desktop PCs before running Ubuntu, which is very easy to do, h…

I've tried everything and searched everywhere and can't figure out where this is being limited. Any help would be greatly appreciated : ) Joel.

  29. Hi! I just flashed Armbian 24.11.1 Bookworm Minimal / IOT onto my Odroid HC1 SD-Card. The download page states: "For HC1 and HC2 we provide specially optimized config which has to be applied manually. This results in shorter boot time and lower consumption. Edit /boot/armbianEnv.txt and add: board_name=xu4 # or xu3, xu3, hc1" However there is no /boot/armbianEnv.txt. Should I just run the system as is or do I have to modify something to have it run optimally? Should I just create the file and add line? Thx! Björn

Anyway, in case this was the issue, I have built a new voltage regulator, and now supply the DHT22 and pullup resistor with 3.60V My issue is simple: when plugged on normal 1W bus, the DHT22 kills the bus, and makes other devices non working. I have moved all other devices on a new bus, leaving the DHT on a bus I know works fine. Some people mentionned the DHT is not compliant with official 1W libraries, and can not be recognised with normal timings, so, special libs are required. 50. Hi, I've read this post but it's two years old. What I need is a SBC (in order to save some energy costs, otherwise have to go to x86) that could be used as a small SOHO firewall and router and also small file and backup server. I'd need gigabit ethernet (preferably with dedicated controller), at least one, could buy a dongle to have another port. A SATA interface would be nice, otherwise USB 3 is needed. Probably at least two USB 3, one for the ethernet dongle, another for the SATA disk. UASP support would be great. The lower the cost and the more stable the best. What do you recommend?

  51. Hi, Im trying to install a driver for a usb wifi dongle. Im getting the error below. Can I compile the driver with the older linux-header? 52. i am using armbian 24.2.1 debian bookworm inn orangepi 5b. At first i used sd card to boot. then i wanted to use emmc to boot. so i went to armbian-config and install os in emmc from there from sd card. now it is booting from emmc if the sd card is not connected but if the sd card is connected it is booting from sd card. The worst part is, if i connect a sd card where there is no OS, it will not even boot. How can i set a order like if there is bootable os in emmc boot from there and use the sd card as storage if not boot from sd card ?

  53. Hi, I realize that V3s is not H2 or H3, but I hope the question is generic. Is it possible to make the FB 16 bit? In mainline Linux? I'm working with a Lichee Pi board. The depth is 18 bits but the fb in Linux is 32 bit. I'd love to get it down to 16 bits to save 1/2 of the video memory and just 2 color bits are a small price to pay. I understand that Linux inherits the FB from u-boot.

Hello, I've the Pi One H3 version that I always used with a HDMI to VGA adapter that worked ok until lately that stopped working. So I was thinking to connect the board to a TV monitor having DVI connection. I've tried both stable and experimental version of Armbian o.s. and it shows the same problem, basically it boots ok at native resolution (1280x768 60Hz) until it starts the desktop GUI and it goes to "no signal". If I return to the text console mode the monitor feel the signal again and at the same native panel resolution. I've tried both HDMI to DVI adapter at the monitor side and also an HDMI to DVI adapter and using a DVI cable on the board side and noth…

Hi, I need to install kernel headers to build a wifi driver. Using armbian-config to install the headers does not work ... After much searching came across a logical suggestion - i.e. install the 'linux-headers-current-sunxi' package ... When I install that package (on a fresh 22.08.1install), the package installed is for 22.05.03 ... which is, er, the wrong version? Where do I find the headers for 22.08.1 ? Many thanks!

  57. Hi there, I am quite new to Armbian (Debian), but experienced on Fedora (RedHat). I want to use national language support on my Armbian device [Orange Pi PL+]. In particular Polish (but if this post transforms into guide it will be for others too). How do I install(?) / enable (?) / rebuild (?) packages (especially GUI) to enable Polish language? With this, OPi / Armbian would be an "viable" alternative to some "STBs" (2x less price... freedom of installing packages). Fonts, keyboard (I saw only "Polish-Dvorak" which is not correct, should be "polish-programmers" - with ALT-Gr or Polish-"typewriter" which I guess is not available now), all these stuff. …

  60. Hi All We are having a problem where on booting the /var/log is filled and uses all mmc storage space. Does anyone know how to intervene in te booting process to stop this mapping and filling up of the fs? This issue sometimes causes the device to fail to boot properly and remain inaccessible. (It may indeed be that an unclean shutdown is causing this problem). Booting up properly is essential for us and we do not want or need these logs . We send the logs over the server, so capture these anyways. This posting refers to our same issue: Any help much appreciated. Thank you for Armbian! Best wishes Eric

So, I have 2x Radxa Zero 3W (not listed on Armbian) with a Rockchip 3566 MCU. And here the questions start... - why don't the Orange Pi 3B or Quartz 64B Armbian images, with the same MCU, don't work on the Radxa Zero 3W ? Aka, shouldn't an OS be portable ? I'm not expecting such of Windows, but I did expect it from Linux - what do the loaders contain exactly ? 100. Started by riskable,

According to http://linux-sunxi.org/H2%2B#VariantsI should be able to differentiate between the H2+ and the H3 via the CPU SID. I have an Orange Pi Zero board with this output from /proc/cpuinfo Hardware : Allwinner sun8i Family Revision : 0000 Serial : 02004620161dea8a According to that site "the last byte of the first word" should be either 0x42 or 0x83 since the Orange Pi Zero has an H2+. Yet I am not finding 0x42 or 0x83 *anywhere* in "02004620161dea8a". Anyone know how to correctly identify the CPU variant?
