Hi all, After a recent update bumped the current kernel to the 6.18 series, the rear 3.5mm jack on my NanoPC-T6 LTS stopped playing any sound. I'm connecting it to an external amplifier that worked fine before the update. What I see on 6.18 (6.18.35-current-rockchip64): The audio card (rt5616) still shows up in aplay -l and playback commands run without errors, but no sound comes out. Volume levels and mute aren't the issue — I checked those. What fixed it: downgrading via armbian-config to linux-image-current-rockchip64=25.11.2 (kernel 6.12.58). With 6.12 the audio works perfectly again. So 6.12 works and 6.18 doesn…

I have 23.8.1 Jammy installed with kernel 5.10.160 and I'm getting plenty of kernel errors during any video playback, and these also cause the playback to freeze. From my research, these error messages come from librga - which I assume come from the panfork and rockchip repos but I was wondering if anyone has been able to resolve these errors.

Hi everyone, I was experience some strange things with two similar devices, the first I installed in february this year, mesa v.24.x and EGL 1.4 and it was working fine The other one I installed this week and it turns out that it uses mesa v.25.x and EGL 1.5, although performance was great with most 3D apps (like glmark2) I had poor performance under sway/kitty or the retroarch menu for instance (something like 15 fps). It took me a few days to find a solution so if you have similar issues please try installing mesa with the kisak repository as it fixed my problems sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kisak/kisak-mesa -y sudo apt update sudo apt upg…

Hi I am wondering if anyone has had any luck using a mini PCIe to SATA adapter with an Orange Pi 4 LTS to attach a SATA hardrive? If yes, which adapter did you use? I would like to throw the OPi 4 LTS and a hard drive in a box and make a mini fanless NAS box. thanks

Hello people, I am trying to set CPU Governors but all the cores change to the same clock and cpufreq-info reports "CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0 1 2 3", with that even one thread working is making the CPU scale up all clocks and heat more than it should, is there a way to unlink them and each one have their own clocks according to each core processing load?

Hey! I recently got a CAN-bus up and running on a Tinkerboard running Armbian, but I've run into another problem here: The CAN-bus buffer fills up. After sending a few messages I get an error saying "No buffer space available". I've noticed that some other people are solving this by increasing the buffer size, but that seems like a weird solution to me. And it wouldn't really help me much. I need to empty this buffer when I read from it, or manually (without restarting the CAN-bus). Any ideas on how to do that? Thanks

Needed/wanted to add Bluetooth to my OPi5 and also needed WiFi at the same time. Did not want to use 2 USB ports so I tried the T2UB. Working well. Bluetooth appeared on my Armbian Ubuntu Jammy setup and I plugged in the dongle. It saw a few of my bluetooth devices. Reason I wanted bluetooth is to use a controller for some games/emulators. I'll make another post for that. My PS4 Dualshock controller is not showing up in the list of devices. My version is an older version, Armbian 23.06.420 Jammy with Linux 5.10.160-rk35xx No end-user support: built from trunk Conclusion: TPLink T2UB should work properly on Armbian Ubuntu desktop.

I followed the provided instructions to install Arbmbian on Orange Pi 5 Plus 16GB, so I downloaded the official Ubuntu image from the Orange Pi website, and when it booted, it sudo apt update sudo apt install mtd-utils sudo flash_eraseall /dev/mtd0 The flash operation was finished successfully. Then I turned off, loaded Armbian Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) (Desktop images with Armbian Linux v6.12) on SD and started the machine. I have a monitor connected to the machine, but there is no output. My router doesn't show any new network device, so I suppose that Armbian doesn't load. It's exactly the same situation when I tried to install Armbian without /dev/mtd0 erasin…

Hello Kind Forum Experts, I ask for you help with following issue: Device: Nanopi-r4s 4GB Background: I'm happy with my device running from SD - but wanted to preemptively upgrade to eMMC based setup for improved reliability. I bought "original" FriendlyELEC SD-to-eMMC adapter + 64GB eMMC module. with normal microSD it boots great, with the sd-to-eMMC - nothing multiple attempts, tried both cloning my old SD & writing fresh image but both didn't help. eMMC type is 1.8V\3.3V HS400 speed, i think i need to address that in the .dtb file ? any help would be much appreciated Uri

I need to get a driver working on my ROC renegade with DKMS. However, the kernel headers provided by the repository: linux-headers-rockchip64 - Linux kernel headers for 4.4.156-rockchip64 on arm64 do not match the kernel provided by the repository: linux-image-rockchip64 - Linux kernel, version 4.4.162-rockchip64 This is after updating the cache just now and yes, both packages are installed. Is there some way I can guarantee that the version of my installed kernel and headers always match (apart from compiling them myself)? There is no linux-image-next package for rockchip64 and I'm hesitant to install the nightly release.

However, Armbian is configured to provide only spidev2.0, while TinkerOS can have spidev0.0, spidev0.1, spidev2.0 and spidev2.1 all enabled at the same time as long as you disable UART4 which shares GPIO header pins with SPI0. In the TinkerOS case, there is a config tool which edits a small and straightforward text file in /boot/ containing lines such as "intf:spi0=on" or "intf:uart4=off". The corresponding Armbian file seems to be /boot/armbianEnv.txt - possibly with overlays=... lines and DTS files. There also is a tool called armbian-add-overlay to load (at runtime?) DTS files...

I have been working on rk3328 (kernel 6.1) based board recently and have been trying to bringup wifi RTL8723AS module using rockpi-e image. As there is no direct support available for this module I have tried to cloning it from github and building it but it gives compilation errors. Hence I referred to drivers available in the kernel and found one for the module similar to that of my module (RTL8723BS), cross verified through user manual and datasheets and build it using armbian. The driver gets built properly and even initializes upon powerup but it isn't getting into probe. The wifi is interfaced through SDIO to the board. Any idea what might b…

I bought a wifi dongle (for 3 pounds on ebay!) having a realtek chip 8821cu. There were some disconnects from time to time, and I was unable to find out why from the logs. Few days ago I installed and recompiled the realtek drivers from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtw88, got some new modules, replaced the modules in the directory /lib/modules/6.1.43-vendor-rk35xx/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtw88 Since then, I have no more disconnect. This may helps someone maybe.

Has anyone ever gotten the Radxa Zero 3w working in gadget mode? I bought a Zero 3w about a week ago and have been beating this horse most of the time. I can't get the device to connect via USB. A or C. When I try to connect (radxa.local) it will always go through wifi. If I have wlan0 disabled or even my internet off it just will NOT connect. It clearly is using wifi to connect even if I use the hostname. Maybe this is something simple but I and another engineer I work with have been scratching our heads about it. The obligatory AI search was an endless loop of everything we had already tried. Anybody have any advice?

Whats the correct way to get the Armbian build to spit boot out as a separate fat partition at the start of the image? Im just getting started with Armbian (on tinker board) and want to integrate it into by own build system. I need to generates SD card images with 3 different configs building 3 separate installs sharing a common multiboot 512MB fat boot partition. I dont need the Armbian build to do the multiboot or manage the boot partition at all, I just want to be able to extract the root & boot fs at the end of the build process.

probably a post bragging of my christmas gifts, but mostly just documentation because it really confused and stumbled me from the get go so, my setup was powering tinkerboard (the first revision, without the new fangled eMMCs) via GPIO because it confused the hell out of me how to power this beast. this was powered through the XL4015 buck converter 12.1/12.2 V on input, with ammeter and voltmeter included on the board. (the board was current limited to 5A, because why not? the rk808 is 6A tops) ok from the get go the board powers (not load tested, just power through and run kodi-gbm UI) from 3.4V to 6.2V. undervolting or overvolting it doesnt shuts itself dow…

I just installed with the latest KDE image, but I'm able to reproduce this with any of the images available. After going through the initial configuration, wifi works great. I updated apt and upgraded everything. Then I installed the armbian-firmware-full package. After rebooting wifi still works. Then I setup Bluetooth for my mouse and keyboard. They work correctly. After rebooting I no longer see any networks to connect to for wifi. If I disable Bluetooth and reboot wifi works again and so does Bluetooth. Is this an issue of daemons or drivers loading in the wrong order?

Due to the shortage of memory chips these days, Radxa is using different emmc models in their boards. For example, I recently ordered a big batch of Rock S0 boards, but they had to be delivered with Sandisk iNAND 32GB emmc drives instead of the typical 8GB option. The problem is that Armbian did not reliably boot on these new boards. It randomly gets stuck during initialization with the onboard LED endlessly blinking. Some boards works, some did not, some only works sometimes. Long story short, in case other people also have this problem: I found the solution. I believe it is caused by Armbian's Rock S0 device tree enabling the HS200 high speed mode for t…

Hey everyone I've compiled my own kernel using this awesome tool, and I'm now running it on a tinker board. Everything's been working fine, except for one annoying thing I just ran into: I can't use the GPIO pins. When I try to use a pin in python I just get this message back: "RuntimeError: This gpio is set to other function!". If I run Debian I can use the gpio just fine, but I need some kernel modules that doesn't ship with Debian. That's why I've compiled my own armbian kernel. Anyways, any idea on how to fix this? Any special module I should add when compiling the kernel? Thanks Marius

Hey there, I now have my Nanopi R4S for quite a while but never got it to run stable over a longer period of time. Ok so I think I have this figured out. It doesn't work at all in Armbian 23.05.1 with the 6.x kernel no matter what I try. It does work in the older Armbian 23.02.2 Jammy (kernel 5.15.93) but the given instructions didn't work for me and needed additional commands. I had to enable the rk3328-opp-1.5ghz overlay or else the max frequency was locked to 1296 MHz. I also found the MAX_SPEED value in the instructions to be too low. To get it to work in 23.02.2: First you have to enable the rk3328-opp-1.5ghz overlay in armbian-config (System > Hardware > rk3328-opp-1.5ghz) or just add it to the overlays line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and reboot. Next open the /et…

Hello, running Armbian_22.11.2_Odroidm1_bullseye_edge_6.1.0.img.xz + updates. I saw in other post (/topic/17418-cameras-with-rock-pi-4-c/😞 But I do not see any Hardware menu in System. I had a look to armbian-config and saw that there is a lot of device-specific code and probably odroidm1 is not supported yet. Also I searched for some DTB that may work, but none is shipped with the current kernel: is empty. Should I add explicit support like in this patch: https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/1482/files? Or there are more modern way to add cold-pluggable hardware? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

After upgrading to kernel 6.8, I've noticed my orange pi 5 running a bit hotter than when using kernel 5.10, even with the CPU load a little bit lower than before. Nothing alarming, just an observation. Did anyone else notice the same behaviour?

Hi! I'm using Tinkerboard S R2.0 in headless mode, but with LightDM (kiosk mode). It's connected to HDMI display, and I soldered display's backlight on/off contact to a relay that can turn on/off the backlight. I see that Amrbian turns off image output (launches screensaver as a black screen) after 10-15 min, but I could not find out where those settings are stored. Please help to find out.

Hi, I have the board connected by HDMI to a TV but when I start I have no sound, I have to go to the speaker icon, configuration and the option is always selected "Speakers - internal audio" but if I want to have sound I have to choose the output option "Analogic ouput- internal audio" and if I restart I have to do the process again. According to the fine adjustment guide of ARMBIAN I must execute the command pacmd list-sinks | less And should be marked with * the selected card but none appears with that symbol. I attach the terminal output after selecting the right output on the desktop to have sound to see if someone is so kind to help me solve my problem. Thanks a…

``` May 21 21:53:26 rpc.idmapd[21345]: main: fcntl(/run/rpc_pipefs/nfs): Invalid argument May 21 21:53:26 systemd[1]: nfs-idmapd.service: Control process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE ``` The rpc.idmapd version in Debian is still ancient (as with many things in debian) and still requires dnotify but the armbian kernel for the orange pi 5 build ``` $ grep -i dnotify /boot/config-5.10.110-rockchip-rk3588 # CONFIG_DNOTIFY is not set ``` It looks like bookworm will likely fix this when it's out, so maybe the right thing to do is simply move to bookworm asap but this does prevent the ability to fully support nfsv4 with…
Hello and thanks for reading. I have done some digging before posting this so let me explain my issue and then what I have tried. I am using the Tinker Board S (via SD card, had same issue using EMMC img also) with the Bionic mainline kernel 4.14.y (in armbian config tool it shows Armbian 5.60 Stable ) on an LG 24LF452B montior/tv with the boards HDMI port and no adapters. I have been trying to set the display resolution to 1366X768 or as close to it (it does not appear in the display settings menu natively) but cant seem to make this work. The display works fine on other resolutions, except for horrible image because the wrong resolution, and can be used on 1366X768 …
Running Armbian 23.8.1 Jammy CLI Minimal. Since my kernel updated to 6.1 I have been having serious stability issues. Uptime is somewhere between 3 and 24 hours before the system becomes completely unresponsive. Prior to the 6.1 update this system was rock solid and would be up for months at a time, only ever rebooted for kernel updates. I currently have a monitor plugged in running dmesg -W hoping for something when these hard locks are occurring but I am not seeing anything to indicate what the issue may be. armbianmonitor-u output is: https://pastebin.com/DeU8VsB4 Any suggestions on any additional debugging I can enable to tr…
Starting a new thread after this one solved my question: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/15044-how-to-re-format-and-remount-and-redo-lvm-volume-on-ssd/?tab=comments#comment-107672 but taking care of those things wasn't the root cause. it turns out the drive wasn't unmounted cleanly after accidentally unplugging the power cable from the board. I had a drive setup using: pvcreate /dev/nvme0n1 vgcreate rockpro64 /dev/nvme0n1 lvcreate -n <name> -L 500g rockpro64 then i formatted like this: mkfs.ext4 /dev/rockpro64/name but then i accidentally unplugged the power source while i got my system up and running it wasn't cleanly unmounte…
Hi! I'm using Armbian with Ayufan's 5.3.0rc4 kernel (until ~1 month ago when I decided to freeze the dev kernels, they were not able to expose the pwmon for the fan that I need to keep running to cool my nas case). But I've seen lots of updates flying around about uboot. So I am wondering: are there significant improvements to uboot? I am currently using an old version of uboot on the SPI flash (so it is a little painful to test new version) and I am wondering if I should disable my SPI in order to have uboot on my emmc (to boot off the emmc) or if there is even a newer option to reflash my spi with a newer uboot... Thanks, Mathias PS: so…
Hi, I have orange pi 5. I searched all over internet for information how to set on startup/power on GPIO pins behavior, but i cannot find anything. Most of GPIO pins are set to IN mode 1. Sadly I need them to output mode 1. I am scared something could burn this way since i set them to though wiringPI after kernel boot sequence is complete. Can some one give information how I can set them up at earlier point when I power on the board? I found that DTB/DTS file could do it. But there is no clear information / pin addresses I should set. Thanks in advance! Regards!
I have a RockPro64 that I have been using for many years as a server. It is currently running Armbian bookworm 12.5. Most of the storage is on an M.2 SSD attached to the PCI socket and is subdivided into disk volumes using linux LVM2. Today I accepted the Armbian kernel upgrade from 6.1.50 to 6.6.16 During the reboot it failed to mount any of my LVM volumes because the device nodes where not present. I found this article about how to recover the situation: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/11125/lvm-devices-under-dev-mapper-missing While in rescue mode I ran the suggested command vgchange -a y <name of volume gr…
Hello, thanks for supporting this device I'm trying to install pivccu (homematic smarthome) on armbian to use it with homeassistant. It's not officially supported (yet) but I got it running with the default hardkernel ubuntu image. https://github.com/alexreinert/piVCCU/blob/master/docs/setup/armbian.md I can't seem to find the kernel headers/sources for my kernel. Any Ideas? Below is what I found. I'm willing to go back to 6.1.12 if that doesn't cause any issues. Can't do it via armbian-config. Do I need to download an image from the archive and reinstall? uname -a Linux odroid 6.3.4-rk3568-odro…
Hello Guys. สมัครสมาชิกufabet เว็บพนันบอลต่างประเทศ I want to extend the current kernel (Tinkerboard with rockchip-kernel-4.4.120 on Debian-Armbian) to include IR (GPIO) and DVB modules. What do I have to consider or is this possible with the usual run-through? (copy .config from current system, make menuconfig, make, sudo make install, sudo make modules_install) Is there possibly already a tutorial that I have not seen?
May I know how do you enable Panrost support Ubuntu 24.04 on Khadas Edge2? By Khadas SDK, I have built image which failed with followings: 1. Enabled Panfrost in defconfig. 2. Add kisak-mesa ppa, apt update and upgrade. 3. Replace mali_csffw.bin by Armbian mali firmware. After these, the gnome-settings shows the GPU is software vendoring. Hope to get your help~ Thanks!
Only sharing what I managed to make working on the Orange Pi5: a Tvheadend server with satellite cards TBS 5527 and TBS 5520se. The rough path I followed: - recompiled the kernel in order to have "Linux tv" as a module (CCONFIG_DVB_CORE=m). This will be replaced by the tbs driver in next steps. - installed TVheadend from the armbian-config - compiled tbs drivers by following standards instructions....but: - had to add a CFGLAGS += -w to avoid some warning stopping the build (Makefile in the v4l directory) - had to disable the creation of the mc.ko (MEDIA_CONTROL) to avoid conflict with kernel built-in module (n…
https://libre.computer/products/roc-rk3399-pc/ Can the computer run entirely on free software which is software you can use, share, modify and redistribute? The question includes firmware, microcode, etc, any piece of software that is running on the computer. If some devices on the computer requires non free software in order to work then what devices are they? And will the computer still work if you choose to not install the pieces of non free software in question? Thank you.
Hello, Recently I have upgraded Armbian on my PBP (w/o kernel). My current kernel is 5.10.60 #21.08.1. I know, it's old but the newer only makes PBP unusable at all - black screen on boot. My current issue concerns the PBP keyboard. Some keys started generating weird outputs. I have never faced with something like that. When I press 'q' - output is - aq2468 x - zxetuj c - cfghk d - DWRI 1 - the screen is dimming I have no idea if this is software or hardware issue. The computer was on the shelf. Nothing has happened to it physically. After years of fighting with this crap :( - I want to be sure if that is the last straw to put this com…
I have seen the uefi port for Rock 5B, which uses rk3588. seed this the opi5 use rk3588s which may lack some IOs, so I think maybe it can work on opi5 without modification. (actually i don't know how to modify to fit for it, need to learn) here i show you the result, I burn the uefi image (complied from balbes150's repo: https://github.com/150balbes/edk2_uefi ) to a tf card, then burn the image from balbes150's post to a usb portable ssd. then i change the dtb. The efi and grub can boot form tf card and then load the image from my usb ssd. successfully enter the Armbian and seems no big issues. But this can only work on the 2 type-A usb3.0, i try on usb2.…
