Hello, I am trying to install Armbian UEFI-x86 into this very small mini PC, but with secure boot enabled it only shows this screen: Disabling the secure boot isn't an option, because every time I turn it off and then turn it on the next morning, the BIOS settings are being reset, then the secure boot is enabled once again (I believe it is intentional, because the CMOS battery only keeps the clock & date). Moreover, I want to use it as a headless computer, so no keyboard will be attached. Is this fixable or Armbian isn't compatible with secure boot? Thanks in advance.

Hi The problem with Odroid HC1 is that BIG cores cannot go higher than 1.50Ghz and LITTLE cores cannot go higher than 900Mhz! Why is the CPU so throttled now? This sbc can and could work at higher clock speeds without any problems. Forcing 2Ghz and 1.50Ghz via cpupower does not help... Bullseye A 23.8.27 K 6.6.31

Is it possible to transfer the entire Armbian system from SD card to HDD? ... it is known that the SD card has a lower endurance than such a HDD dist (write, read etc.) I tried to transfer the system in such a way that I first upgraded the kernel to the newest one on the SD card and then moved the system files to a partition on the HDD: mount /dev/sda1 /mnt time tar --one-file-system -cpf - / | (cd /mnt && tar -xpf -) then knowing the sda1 partition information and ID lsblk -f then knowing the sda1 partition information and ID I changed the UUID / HDD number in two locations nano /boot/boot.ini and nano /etc/fstab after rebooting…

Hello everyone! After my Helios4 had been laying in a cardboard box for a long time after moving houses, I decided it was time to once again set it up as an NAS. I was previously running Open Media Vault (OMV) with 4 disks in xfs and using MergerFS for unionizing three of them at a single mount point and then using Snapraid for the fourth disk. OMV worked pretty well for me but I go somewhat irritated from time to times because how it decides to thing in it's own way. But now I when I re-installed it (after getting a new PSU) I went with Armbian instead to keep it closer to "standard" linux. I think I will still go with Merver…

After switching from Debian Buster (installed via Petitboot) to Armbian, I have problems with NFS on Openmediavault that didn't exist the weeks before. My NFS streams abort after a few minutes, sometimes seconds (on Libreelec as well as Kodi for Windows). In OMV it shows me that the service is enabled and running, but systemctl says: nfs-server.service loaded active exited. With exportfs -rav it runs again, only to stop after a few minutes. It also works without command if I wait a few minutes. I also did a fresh install of Armbian, wich did nothing.

Hi all, My Hard Drive in my HC2 is not found or not readable. Before I was on Armbian Buster with Kernel 4.14 and everything was working fine. I switched and am now running Armbian Focal 21.05.2 with Kernel 5.4.116 . HDD is btrfs formatted. /proc/filesystems lists btrfs so this is not the problem. /dev/sda exists, but sda will not be listed when I lsblk. Dmesg shows a Read Capacity(16) failed. Not posting the whole dmesg log b/c armbianmonitor is attached. Grateful for any help or hints =)

Hello. I freshly installed bullseye from the other supported variant links for an odroid XU4. When trying to get docker daemon running, it looked like the ip_tables module and br_netfilter modules weren't available in the kernel. A known issue with the Odroid XU4, HC1, and HC2 is that it (uboot?) does not properly park the hard disk heads before/during shutdown or power cycle/off. So, the disk drive is forced to emergency hard retract the heads when power is shutdown/cycled. This is of course a violent action for the HDD and should be avoided. Use this odroid.shutdown script and install into /lib/systemd/system-shutdown/. https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/troubleshooting/shutdown_script Recommend adding to armbian for XU4 distros.

Hi all! I am running a nextcloud server on an odroid HC2 and a 4 TB WD red HDD. So far, so good (thanks again @Igor for the quick help with the kernel downgrade!). And since I have bought the sbc recently, I do not seem to have the older firmware version with the HDD "emergency power down" bug, i.e. I haven't heard clacking sound from the HC2. Today, I set HDD spindown to 1 hour via hdparm (wd red does not support apm) because the HDD would spin down after about three minutes on its own. The HDD does not seem to apply these settings, so I installed smartmontools to check the HDD in general. Only to find that: smartctl -a /dev/sdb1 gives this…

Today, I set up SSH public key authentication on my RPI5B running Armbian-unofficial 24.8.0-trunk Bookworm. During the test, I noticed that the initial SSH session message displayed the CPU temperature and other details. Unfortunately, the vcgencmd utility provided by the Raspberry Pi Foundation doesn't work on Armbian. I'm looking to understand how the temperature, CPU clock, and GPU clock are measured, and if possible, I'd like to receive some code to do so.

I attempted to file a bug using `reportbug`, but since the kernel package is from Armbian and the report went to Debian, I assume that is a dead end. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1137721 I will mostly copy/paste from that report, here, but I also ran `armbianmonitor -u`. https://paste.armbian.com/wenegucita I run a home backup server with a 1TB SSD attached to an ODroid HC1 board. There is no redundancy, but I do keep a limited history of snapshots, taken hourly and trimmed down to a small number of hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly snapshots. I see a very active gaming thread for the Orange Pi 5, but the Radxa Dragon Q6A is the better credit card sized ARM SBC for gaming. I'm a bit of a lazy person, so I don't feel like testing many settings, so I settled on the Steam ARM Linux client and for some games the Luxtorpeda tool for Steam. Luxtorpeda isn't developed for ARM, but it will run with Fex-Emu, and I assume Box64. https://codeberg.org/luxtorpeda/luxtorpeda Here you can see Metro 2033 Redux on the Rada Dragon Q6A. I played it with Luxtorpeda. You can also play it with Proton ARM64, but I didn't see much difference with the performance. Performance is around 20-25 fps at 1080p…

Dear Readers I had quite some troubles migrating my armbian system from an SD-Card (16GB) to my emmc (32GB). I'd like to sum up my journey for future travelers ;-) I was not successful simply copying the image of the sd to the emmc and resizing the partition. It would not boot. Apparently emmc has additional boot partitions which must be set correctly. I "repaired" the emmc with this https://wiki.odroid.com/accessory/emmc/recovery_xu4 and it booted Android all right from emmc. I then rebooted on my SD-Card and used the nand-sata-install command to "Boot from eMMC - system on eMMC". It took some time to copy, but when booting on the emmc, still Android…

The board works well with Armbian, but currently it is not possible to use USB audio interfaces (sound cards, modems exposing audio functions, VoIP devices, etc.) because the snd-usb-audio module is missing from the kernel and not available as a loadable module. If needed, I can provide logs, test kernels, or help verify the changes. Thanks for maintaining support for this board.

Please forgive me if it is a stupid question, but what is preventing us from keeping n previous kernels installed in case an update is broken and does not boot? Fedora does it, Ubuntu does too. In general it should be simpler to boot a previous kernel than to try to pull the SD card and fix it in a second machine.

Hello all, I have installed the image "Armbian 23.02.0-trunk.0176 Lunar with bleeding edge Linux 6.1.6-bcm2711" on my two Raspi 4 systems. One system runs via cable and the other via WLAN. At the beginning there were some problems with the IPv6 - kernel, if "apt update" was executed. I got this problem under control with "disable ipv6".... Since then, both systems run flawlessly & without problems. With the implementation of GPIO you should fall back on an existing GPIO - version, which works in any case also under this image; also for 64bit. One small thing I would like to know very much, because on the system with the cable the…

Today I imaged 'Armbian_24.8.0-trunk.542_Rpi4b_noble_current_6.6.44_gnome_desktop.img' on to an SD card and then put it in my Raspberry Pi 4 GB. It booted up first time no issues and I went through the setup flow. I am using wired ethernet and was able to reach it remotely immediately. I installed all the updates. When I do "sudo shutdown -h -r now" on the command line (either via SSH or locally in the terminal) it does not reboot. The device stops responding to pings and no longer has HDMI output. If I power cycle the board once, it does not boot up. On the second power cycle it boots up. This seems really odd. Is this some known issue with the raspberry pi 4…

I decided to klipperize an old 3d printer and found some of my orange pi boards dead, so i ended up selecting my XU4 for the task. Fast forward 24 hours and i'm fighting MCU timeouts. Klipper doesn't know what happened just that the mcu stopped responding. And their knowledge base article is basically "gosh it could be anything". One seat of the pants observation i made was that the XU4 idles along at 600mhz with a load average of about 0.1 and it seemed like the load average increased maybe before the mcu stopped responding. The MCU in question is an SKR Pico, aka rp2040 with a usb connection. The mcu is not receiving power from th…

I am a noob on Linux (unfortunately). I run a Xu4 with armbian on it. On the Xu4 i run Domoticz, my home automation system. Something is eating my hdd space; a fixed amount is used up every hour. I set up a new system with a bigger sd but I want to get to the bottom of the issue. I do not know how I can see what the Xu4 does every hour. Perhaps a log or a backup? Perhaps my OS is doing something, or perhaps my Home automation. I do not run any script to make periodic backups or anything else like that. How can I figure it out? Thanks!

Hi all, I'm running a couple of ODroid XU4's as a server. Yesterday I ran an update and after this update the board no longer boots... (I was running Armbian Focal kernel 4 I have tested a 'fresh' armbian image and then the system boots without issues. I have saved what packages are updated and wonder if I would be able to restore this somehow? A log of the update (never mind the dutch) https://pastebin.com/WWP2DFfC I used to have kernal 5.4 on this board, but I downgraded about 6 months ago. Could that be the issue? Because in the log I read: Uitpakken van .../77-linux-image-current-odroidxu4_21.02.2_armhf.deb wordt …

yo guys, not sure how to fix this one, so i keep getting an adittional IP on my ethernet interface while i assigned it to static... tried to assign static conf with the armbian-config thing and by editing the /etc/network file. my dhcp is the stock ISP router network. never had this problem before, even when using other images from diferent distros. also sudo armbianmonitor -u gives me this error System diagnosis information will now be uploaded to /usr/bin/armbianmonitor: line 859: [: -gt: unary operator expected

Hello everybody, I have been having an issue lately with my Odroid XU4 running Armbian's Ubuntu Xenial server. The problem is that the ethernet interface would only be detected every once in a while upon a reboot of the system, however, after performing an update earlier today, the ethernet interface is not detected no matter how many times I reboot the system or mess with settings. Please help as I'm sort of a noob with debugging linux issues and this is the main interface for my mini-network. Huge thanks in advance. UPDATE: Apparently the update caused the device name to switch from eth0 to enx001e06311a69 and by reconfiguring my servers to use that interface it…

Hi, I'm trying to run weston on Odroid XU4, but it does not start. Seems something is wrong with GPU drivers. I have a RasPi 4b, I'm trying to understand how the device tree is modified so I can use the methodology eventually for a board that has a CM4 on it. So from a virgin clone of the build repo: ./compile.sh BOARD=rpi4b BRANCH=edge RELEASE=bookworm BUILD_MINIMAL=yes KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no KERNEL_GIT=full install image on SD card and boot the device, go through Armbian-setup. All well and good, then varify device tree used for the boot: cat /proc/device-tree/model gets me a: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.5 OK so now lets modify the device tree: ./compile.sh BOARD=rpi4b BRANCH=edge RELEASE=bookworm BUILD_MINIMAL=yes KERNEL_CONFIGURE=n…

Hey, the last time my Helios4's PSU blew I suspect was due to a power overload, with the PSU not being able to deal with all 4 HDDs doing active work (this also killed one of the HDDs in my array). Based on the system log, it looked like the system was doing a regular integrity checks on all 4 HDDs at once (!). I would like to either disable the integrity check altogether, or more ideally, spread it out. I have two RAID-1 arrays, and there is no reason for all four drives to be checked simultaneously. For example, I can check one of the arrays (two HDDs) and then once that is done, the second array (the other two HDDs) after. Does anyone know where…

Hi all, I got my helios4 sometimes in 2019 and it was one of the best purchases I ever made. It has served and was solid as a rock. Unfortunately all that ended couple of days ago when I noticed the Helios was not powering up properly, think it was the power supply not connected well (because I just recently changed the location) I removed and fitted the PSU a couple of times, I could see the led light come on but still it would not boot properly. By the time I found out what the real problem is things had gone worse, the reason for the incomplete boot was the SD card has been removed. Unfortunately, it seems my constant removing and refitting the PSU to …

Is there a repository with older Armbian images available? I'm looking to install OMV6 on my Odroid HC1 (XU4), when I get Armbian Bookworm installed OMV scripts says to use Buster or Bullseye, but I cannot find an Armbian Bullseye image anywhere. I'm not super proficient with Linux (I know enough to get myself in trouble) so compiling my own image is not something I think I can do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Edit: Nevermind...I'm an idiot...didn't notice the GIANT button for Archived Images. Apologies. Thanks, Robert

Hi everyone. Just after a bit of advice before I take the plunge and boot up armbian on my Mi10 Pro. I'm using it currently as a modem, it's tethered to my Deco setup so its only used as a modem. Obviously the stock HyperOS isn't that great at having anything that is remotely useful for this purposes. So I'm hoping that Armbian could be the answer I'm looking for. If someone could assist/answer the following; Is there by modem/router type software that I can use on Armbian? Does the 5g modem get recognised by Armbian? Does the USB C slot get recognised so any usb hub that I plug in will work? Will ethernet teth…

So I tried switching my MMIO GPIO to /dev/gpiomem from /dev/mem and it doesn't appear to support the GPZ block https://wiki.odroid.com/odroid-xu4/hardware/expansion_connectors#con_11_-_2x6_pins The address is 0x03860000. For marvell-mvebu build DRBD is not supported, the module is missing in either current and edge config a grep of CONFIG_BLK_DEV_DRBD in build/config/kernel from the git build repo shows that most boards have DRBD compiled as module except some few exceptions. One of these few exception is mvebu (ClearFog Base/Pro, ESPRESSObin, Helios 4). I don't understand why. DRBD is a very nice and secure block device which provides network block replication (raid over network), and it is widely used. DRDB compile and work flawlessly on helios4 with the mvebu kernel. But we are obliged to compile the kernel or only the module, which is somewhat painful. As I have …

Hi! my odroid HC2 is running pretty great on armbian 5.90 for >1,5 years (24/7) now. Running a nextcloud instance, with decent perfomance, even when clocked to 600/1200 Mhz in the summer, because of one (1) crash, that I think might have been heat-related. The thing I'm wondering about: in htop, it shows only ( .LITTLE) cores for eight lines, but the cpu is a (.big.LITTLE) architecture and my other HC2 sbc, which runs armbian 20.02.7, show "(.big.LITTLE)" in htop. Perfomance in sysbench is equal on both boards, so this might mean nothing, but it still seemed strange to me. Anyone knows why htop only shows "( .LITTLE)" cores?

Hello all, As I have often said, I am very satisfied with this LINUX implementation on the RASPI PI4 board. In the meantime, I noticed one small thing and that was somehow related to the 4GB version of my RASPI. I often had to record a KERNEL crash here; this did not happen under the 8GB version until now. But now to my actual question: How can I activate the CAMERA port under this Linux version so that I can connect a camera there? Best regards Z. Matthias

hey there, I'm using an odroid xu4 with the cloudshell 2 with 2 drives in RAID1 and Armbian with Debian 9 Stretch as my OS, built via Vagrant 2 weeks ago. The /boot partition sits on a sd-card, the OS on the harddrive. After the first boot and configuration of another user and so on, I rebooted the system to let it resize the rootfs to extend it to 2TB, which is the size of the harddrive. But after this, it seems that cryptroot cannot decrypt the …

So I wanted to set up an Odroid XU4 as a low-power low-cost NAS and "seedbox" for a personal project, and I wanted to have a GUI that doesn't take too many resources (or spin the fan too much) due to the fact that qBittorrent can't run as a thin client, and I don't want to have to use a WebUI, nor do I want to use a different client (Transmission frequently has security issues, and Deluge is a bit too resource-intensive). I'm currently using the XU4 headless, and only have it hooked up to LAN, so it's a bit difficult to tell what's going on at system initialisation, and since I'm controlling the device through SSH, I'm unable to manually start X11 after booting and l…

Hi, I'm running into a problem I can't solve. On my new Odroid HC1 I'm trying to set up a SFTP with chroot, but no matter what I'm trying it doesn't work on Armbian (or OMV). A recent check of failed services showed me that following service failed: systemd-update-utmp-runlevel.service Checking via journalctl I see this: Failed to write utmp record: No space left on device So far I understood it has to do with the space for the logs being full, I can delete logs to make place. My question is, how could I have that done by default in an easy way? The message itself doesn't bother my that much but I guess there are no new logs created if there's no space which isn't ideal.
