Title says it all: The Images offers by the site https://www.armbian.com/nanopineo3/ simply doesn't work on a NanoPi Neo3. I don't have a Serial-Connector to find out what's going on during the Boot-Process. I connected a Router on the Lan-Interface, and the Router never get a DHCP-Request from the Neo3. Tried multiple times, SD-Card is fine (tested). If I use an Image from a totally different Project (for Example "DietPi" which also offers a Neo3-Image), it works like a charm. Router gets DHCP-Request, I can connect using SSH (and so on), everything works. My Neo3 is working fine, Power-Supply is also good (it's made for Raspberry Pi and offers 5.1V and 3A...…

I'm in the process of upgrading my network and with the Helios64 capable of 2.5 GbE, what are some people's switch recommendations? My needs aren't really too high so I think 5 ports should be enough until the rest of the infrastructure catches up in my home network. My short-list are: * QNAP QSW-1105-5T * TP Link TL-SG105-M2 * TRENDnet TEG-S350 Article from servethehome

Hello all, After some time without touching it, I came back to my Rockpi 4B. I installed the latest armbian bionic image on a samsung 64Go card. All seems to work fine for the first boot. But when I try to restart the system I don't get any display on screen. To get it back I need to unplug HDMI plug and re-plug it. Didn't found any conversation about that trouble? Is it a bug or is there something I can do to fix it ? Thanks for your answers. Pat

I have an Orange Pi 4B. The board as the only USB 3.0 port has the USB-C type. I connect the USB-C x USB-A adapter. I connect the USB flash drive and it doesn't work. Power from the port is coming out properly. Is there any chance that this port will work properly with an external drive?

Hi everyone, I have been playing a lot (too much maybe) with my NanoPi M4. Getting system crashes and instability, including a loss of HD I/O, during very large file transfers. This happens over the network, whether using SCP, FTP, or SMB. I'm a hobbyist, and am no coder or developer, so other than Googling, I have no practical knowledge to pull on. When the problem started occuring, I opened two PuTTY SSH interfaces as root - one with htop, and another with "dmesg --follow" to see what was going on with the system, and this is what happened: dmesg readout at file transfer crash (using SMB this time): Spoiler [238803.445307] ------------[ cut here ]------------ [238803.445321] kernel BUG at mm/vmscan.c:1709…

With the recent update of the kernel "edge" package (6.8.11-edge-rockchip64) when the system boots. interfaces get different names (they used to be "end0" and "eth1" before, and now they are "eth0" and "eth1"), but more importantly, they both show different MAC address (the old address returns when previous kernel is booted). It took some time to figure why it did not appear on its prescribed address... Anyone notice this, or has a clue why? Have tested the Orange Pi 5 Ultra and the Armbian Linux v6.1 vendor IOT image for the 5 "Max" model, using the same Max' `rk3588-orangepi-5-max.dtb` FDT file works better than with the rk3588-orangepi-5-ultra.dtb (extracted from the old official Orange Pi image), as surprisingly, dmesg shows less errors with the Max DTB. Tested: ✅ eMMC works. HDMI ports: ✅ Port 1 out works fine. ❓ Haven't tested the port 2 input. Would guess it doesn't work as the Max has bot ports as output. For the AP6611s (SYN43711): ✅ WiFi: works. ✅ Bluetooth: works with some extras, rfkill and bluez: …

My Helios64 is "far away" and I am afraid to change network configuration, because if I miss something I could lose connectivity to the box. I would like to attach COM-to-IP adapter so that I always had serial console available, but... what actually do I need? "Normal" com-to-ip adapter provides COM port. Helios64 has COM-in-USB. So...? How to convert Helios'es serial console to anything accessible via LAN?

Hi there, So I'm having a problem connecting the helios to the router. I try different lan cables and different ports. It was working everything fine yesterday, I did a reboot and no more connection. I'm completely new to this. I was installing home assistance and plex before this happened but I believe I didn't mess with anything to do with network. Don't know what I might have done. I can connect to helios via putty and after logging in the part where ip should be there is none. Any advise would be most appreciated. Again I'm completely new to this.

Hi guys, sorry if this question might sound stupid, but how do I open the M3 enclosure? There is no instruction in the manual, nor on the stationpc website. I just bought this little box and I am not sure if this has some screws or some other closing system. I can see the four rubber buffers on the bottom of the box, but I don't want to harm those without reason. Can anyone tell me how to disassemble the box? Thanks in advance.

I got my box yesterday and assembled it (looks gorgeous, and reasonably easy to assemble). Without external power and with battery connected, green led 1 is on. With external power, orange led 9 in addition to that. FTDI chip is recognized regardless of power status, I can connect to the console. After pressing power button, green LEDs 2 and 3 and blue LEDs 4 and 5 light up immediately, and after that nothing else happens. Nothing on the serial console, no LEDs change status. Gentlemen, I have a rock64 board, and I would like to use an external RTC module with DS1307 chip. Unfortunately the armbian kernel does not provide DS1307 driver by default: root@rock64:~# cat /boot/config-4.4.162-rockchip64 | grep DS1307 # CONFIG_RTC_DRV_DS1307 is not set I don't have the programming skills for sending a pull request to enable this module. Could you please enable this module for ROCK64? I believe other ROCK64 owners may also benefit from this driver, as the board does not expose a working RTC, and DS1307 is a very common RTC chip. Thanks in advance.

Hello, can someone help me with my problem. I have a ROCK64 with 4GB of RAM and an ARMBIAN 5.75 stable Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS 4.4.174-rockchip64, installed. My issue come with usb ports, from the three USB of the this device only works two: one 2.0 and 3.0. And when i have a disk connected towards usb 3.0 i have issues with port usb 2.0, it doesn't work well and I end up disconnecting the USB 3.0 to can work with my device connected towards USB 2.0 so I assume that the current power on the USB port is having issues or it's not working well. Anybody an idea? thanks!

Hi guys. I've been working with the 4.19 kernel before on M2. I upgraded to the kernel version 5.18 today. I found that I can't find the registered udc device anymore. This is auto-registered on the 4.19 kernel and you can find it under /sys/class/udc. root@station-m2:/boot# ls /sys/class/udc fcc00000.dwc3 I would like to ask how to enable the udc device on the 5.18 kernel. Thank you.

Hi all, I am unable to login to OMV on my Helios64. A bit of sleuthing indicates that this is because the / fs is at 100% capacity. At first, I figured I'll just transfer the system install from the 8GB SD Card I started with to the 16GB internal eMMC. Turns out past unfnknblvbl already did that, and now I need to go the other way. The documentation on the old Kobol site isn't entirely accurate about how to do this. My SDCard is /dev/mmcblk1 and even though it's formatted ext4, it simply doesn't show in armbian-config. In fact, the only device that shows in the Install menu is /dev/md127, which is the RAID array itself. I'd rather not be booting f…

My NAS do very little overnight so my NAS4 shuts down in the evening and shortly afterwards a physical time switch cuts the power - reinstating power in the morning at which time the NAS4 automatically reboots. I want to do the same with the NAS64 - but even though I've read this (https://wiki.kobol.io/helios64/auto_poweron/) I'm not sure how to go about it. I can't understand if it only works if the UPS has died, or if I have to run a script before shutdown or both. Could you please clarify? Thx ... Nick

I used both buster and ubuntu images (Armbian_5.91_Nanopineo4_Debian_buster_default_4.4.179_desktop.img and Armbian_5.90_Nanopineo4_Ubuntu_bionic_default_4.4.179_desktop.img), both have no wifi, only show "device not ready". So I extracted firmware from official friendly desktop image and unzip to /lib/firmware/rkwifi/ and wifi works. I'm a newbie and hope this could be fixed properly soon. For those new to linux like me, download the attachment, extract everything to /lib/firmware/rkwifi/, reboot and wifi should be there. ap6212.zip

I'm getting this weird graphical artifact on a Radxa Rock 4SE connected to a TV via HDMI. It covers roughly a third of the right side of the display, note that the terminal window is covered by the artifact but the cursor is above it. I started from a Debian minimal image and added the desktop environment via armbian-config. The artifact is visible on both GNOME and KDE Plasma (with fully updated system on both rolling and stable) but not with XFCE. It also disappears with resolutions lower than 4K or switching to tty. Any idea what might be causing this?

Hi! I have the problem that when I try to boot with any Kernel other than 4.4.x, U-boot gives me the "Bad ARM64 Image Magic" Error and stops booting. I can build my own 4.4 Kernels without any problem, those will boot fine. But If I try any newer kernel, for example a NEXT Kernel (package linux-image-next-rockchip), or a DEV Kernel (package linux-image-dev-rockchip), or even if I compile my own 5.3 Kernel, a boot attempt always results in the Bad Magic error. I’ve had this issue ever since beginning to use my Helios. It first happened when I tried building a RAID with OpenMediaVault: It would crash and reboot while building. Sometimes after only 10 minutes, sometimes after 8+ hours of working. The same is true for video transcoding nowadays: it will sometimes crash after a little while, sometimes after a few consecutive hours of working, but it will never be able to work much longer than 12 hours on such a task. Copying large files from the internet has a similar risk of c…

Things work fine but whenever I got a new update via apt update, things get messed up a bit the /boot/Image got linked to vmlinux-4.4.213-rk3399 instead of vmlinuz-5.10.35-rockchip64 while others uInitrd -> uInitrd-5.10.35-rockchip64 dtb -> dtb-5.10.35-rockchip64 The result's the board couldn't boot-up, when I restarted it. And, I need to correct the Image -> vmlinuz-5.10.35-rockchip64 and doing mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d boot.cmd boot.scr from another linux machine to the SDCard. It works fine …

I have installed Armbian 21.02 Ubuntu 20.04 Focal with Linux kernel 5.10.16 and OpenZFS 2.0.1-1 on my Helios64. Hello, i'm experiencing random reboots on my RockPi 4b. I firstly recognoized this when my Squid Proxy Server was not working anymore because it had no permissions to its var/log/squid directory. What i saw (lsblk) that /var/log/ is only of a size of 50mb. Will that be the cause for the reboots? Does the system crash when the logs are full? My System is a Rock Pi 4b with 32gb emmc storage. Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.4.192-rockchip64 Armbian Release 5.90 (i dont know how to change to the next version as armbian-config does not provide the switch to next button) Output or Armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/22oZ

Hi everyone, Two Questions: 1) I have two Orange Pi 3 LTS boards at home. I installed AdGuard Home on one, serving as DHCP (I'll call it OP1), and on the other, I left a Docker with other apps (qbittorrent, omv6, samba, etc. - I'll call it OP2). Both are installed via SD card. But if there's a power outage, OP1 works normally again after, without any problems. But OP2, on the other hand, has experienced data corruption several times. Does anyone know why OP1 works fine and OP2 runs the risk of having to reinstall the system in such a case? 2) If I used a board with EMMC memory and unified all the system…

I have just put my Helios64 into operation. I have 5 HDD with 10TB each. Three HDD I mounted with ZFS (0.86) to a raidz1. the other two disks I mounted individually, formatting one disk with XFS and the last disk already had NTFS as filesystem. On this disk (NTFS) I have some very large *.vhdx files which I only use for copy tests. I use the console with the Mitnight Commander for this. The copying from the NTFS disk to the XFS disk reached a speed of about 130 MB/s. Copying from the XFS disk to the ZFS raid reached a speed of about 100 - 110 MB/s. I cannot do anything with these values alone. Can someone please tell me if these speeds fi…

I think i messed up with armbian-config, namely with 'system' sub section. I noticed that lately the only images that boot are armbian with kernel 6.9.x Nothing, i say nothing with a lower kernel number would boot -- even those SD cards that were good last time i tried them. None of orangepi factory images boot. In and out of itself, it is not a problem. Yet. But what if something changes in a future?

I am thinking to buy NanoPi M4v2 and i want to use with nvme SSD. RockPi 4 support Gen 2.0. What about NanoPi? NanoPi only support Gen1? And what is the maximum theoretical speed for nvme SSD on NanoPi M4v2 ? I am between NanoPi M4v2 vs RockPi 4 and NanoPc T4. I like NanoPi M4 design and box, I don't like rock pi ssd hat and box, and NanoPc price is expensive, not compact like NanoPi, ram is LPDDR3 others LPDDR4, but x4 lane and support Gen 2.1 is good. I am so confused..

My NanoPi M4V2 wont boot. It has a solid red light no green at all. I cant access it with SSH. I went through the troubleshooting checklist available for the NanoPi in regards to the red light. Nothing was solved. I tried different SD cards with different types of images and different types of burners. Nothing works. I know that the SD cards, images, and burners are not the problem cuz I tested it on a Raspberry Pi with no problems.

Hi all, I’m working with an RK3588-based board and running into a frequency scaling issue. What gives with the Armbian website links? Links to all previous versions Armbian for the OrangePi R1 Plus LTS have been removed. The links to SHA hash and PGP signature do nothing. I was hoping to use an image that was based on Debian Bullseye, but that link has been recently removed. Hi, I wanted to convert my root filesystem to btrfs. This allows me to use snapper to take regular snapshops. I also use btrbk to send my snapshots to my secondary storage (also a btrfs array). My root filesystems is installed to eMMC, but there isn't any reason you couldn't do this with an sd card. These instructions are done with a laptop running Linux. I'm using Debian in this case, although any distro with a recent kernel and btrfs tools installed should work. CAVEATS: The current u-boot image (2020.08.21) doesn't support booting natively to btrfs. u-boot *does* support btrfs though. Hopefully a future build of u-boot will add btrfs…

Today I upgraded my Helios64, and after reboot it didn't come back. I rebooted again, to create a bootlog file, and I saw the same. Then suddenly, after a minute or so, I saw network activity, and my Helios64 was back. Now I have 3 questions. 1) Why didn't it boot twice, and then succeeded? 2) Why is there no kernel bootlog? 3) What is an unhandled SMC? The log ended with …

Dear all, I am highly interested in the Helios64 and registered for the next batch. Here are a few questions, I hope that your guys can answer. The OS is Embedded Debian I assume. Questions are quite simple: 1) Hard drive numbering on startup Under Debian, the hard drives in a RAID array are renumbered on each startup by random: /dev/sda, /dev/sdb, etc ... This means that if drive /dev/sdb fails ... it is not necessarily the second hard drive in the bay. I already lost a RAID server extracting the wrong disc in an array. Then I migrated to a Synology NAS and notices that this problem had been fixed as dis…

Hi, I just downloaded the newest release of Armbian and flashed into the SD card, it boots up fine from the SD Card. But I wanna install the system into the Samsung PM9A1 SSD, So I followed the instruction on the armbian page, partioned the drive and made a ext4 filesystem. but I got stuck when I tried to boot up from SSD. I hooked up a serial cable and got this information Any idea about this?

Hello, I have been using Armbian OS on Rock Pi 4B. Full system is on NVME, not using SD card, and there is no eMMC chip on the board. During usage, I needed to shut it down improperly: by removing power cable, not through sudo shutdown now In the end I have following message during boot: Also, here is contents of dev folder: I was wondering if it is possible to fix this error. If not, I will reinstall with new image. Just spent much time on setting the environment, don't want to redo this all I would appreciate any help.

I get Kernel Panics when i do a reboot of the device with the reboot command. I don't get any Panics, when doing a normal boot of the System by powering it. The Panics don't occur on Manjaro. Updating the kernel to 6.1, did nothing for me and the Panic messages are always different and occur at different points of the Boot process. The System runs stable for days, when it boots. I don't have any clues what is going on hear, but i it seems that the device and sdcards aren't broken.

Using P14 in the documentation (https://wiki.kobol.io/helios64/usb/#serial-console) I am unable to get a serial connection to work. Has anyone been able to get UART2 debug Serial working using P14 and an FT232 USB cable? With Kobol plug pulled looking to just have this run in DAS mode over USB-C to still get use without fear but still need to maintain serial console to monitor booting as it sometimes locks up on boot. Downclocking to 1Ghz or below conservative seems to do a lot better but still looking to have remote debug console. When I try to connect I just get the follow error and no output. pl2303_get_line_request - failed: -32
