  4. I upgraded the kernel today via apt-get update/upgrade and it seems kernel for armbian 23.08 is being pushed to users with 23.02 breaking a bunch of stuff. After upgrading the kernel ethernet stops working and requires the user to manually downgrade kernel, uboot (and dtb?). I am currently on "current" kernel (6.1.11-meson64) I'm thinking of downgrading to legacy (5.xx) via armbian-config, does anyone know if this is safe?

  6. Khadas VIM1S is an upcoming low-profile single board computer powered by an Amlogic S905Y4 quad-core Cortex-A35 processor that’s meant to provide an upgrade to the Amlogic S905X-powered Khadas VIM SBC introduced in 2016, and since then renamed to Khadas VIM1. Khadas has been teasing two new SBCs: the low-end Khadas VIM1S with S905Y4 SoC, and the most powerful Khadas Edge2 board equipped with a Rockchip RK3588S octa-core Cortex-A76/A55 processor. I have received both as you can clearly see from the photo above :), but I’m only allowed to write about information available publicly at this time, so today I’ll introduce the Khadas VIM1S which looks just like the VIM1 board. 8. Hi, I'm curious, is there any qualitative difference between the dedicated application images and the Minimal image followed by a "normal" manual installation of the given application? For example OpenMediaVault (OMV) which comes with tailored installation instructions for Armbian. IOW, does the dedicated application image "only " take care of the OMV installation for you, or is there more to it which I might miss when installing OMV myself (on top of the minimal image)? Thanks!

For instance, I can open files with nano, use htop, armbian-config, update and upgrade packages, but I can't reboot (everything over ssh). 22. Hi, I recently bought Odroid N2+ (4GB) as a replacement for my raspberry pi 4. With legacy kernel 4.9 boars seems to be working fine. But when I flashed latest 5.10 kernel version it boots but without HDMI signal. I've read some topics here and in hardkernel forum and my conclusion is that my monitor resolution (3440x1440@60Hz) might not be supported by the kernel. I use this monitor. After some tinkering I was able to boot with video by passing following string to bootargs: setenv bootargs ${bootargs} "video=HDMI-A-1:2560x1440@60" Unfortunately the image is flickering and almost unusable in most cases. Here is an excerpt from 4.9 kernel bootlog wi…

  24. Hi all. A few improvements have been made lately for the Odroid N2/N2+. HDMI sound for example. There are just a few little things I'd like to see happen to make it even better/perfect for desktop use, and for gaming when the GPU drivers for it are ready. Make HDMI resolution selectable in Armbian itself instead of in boot.ini. This would fix multiple issues. Like with mainline it always defaults to 4K on my 4K display whatever resolution I set in config.ini. The N2+ can work well at 1440p, but 4K is just too much for it. In legacy 1440p works when setting it in boot.ini. But can't be changed in Armbian itself. For gaming this will be a huge problem(on mai…

  26. Radxa Zero · Started by MichaIng,

USB gadget mode does currently not work OOTB on Armbian, but it can be enabled easily with a device tree change or overlay: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "radxa, zero", "amlogic,g12a"; fragment@0 { target = <&usb>; __overlay__ { dr_mode = "otg"; }; }; }; I can open a PR for adding this as device tree overlay, or enabling OTG OOTB on Radxa Zero, like vendor did: https://github.com/radxa/kernel/commit/775a467 The latter would be simple. In case of an overlay, I'd need some hint about how to do it best: Adding it to the general meson64 overlays patch seems to be right: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/p…

  29. I have recently acquired a AML-S905X-CC. (Le Potato) Single Board Computer. The manufactures website (https://libre.computer) does not find any documentation (at least, I cannot find it) Their website refers to the LoveRPi Forum and this forum. It is impossible to sign up to the LoveRPi Forum due the confirmation email not being sent. This might not be the appropriated place to ask this question, but since this appears to be the only place where I can ask, I'll ask it anyway here. 33. Hello, I've got a Le Potato, and a Tritium (I like the Tritium better, but I "feel" that Le Potato is a little bit quicker for longer). 38. Yakov, Why do you list Armbian 23.5 Jammy as a supported load on https://www.armbian.com/radxa-zero/ Armbian 23.5 Jammy works on the 2G version of the Radxa Zero board. 46. Title says it all.... Installed the latest on download for Le Potato today and so far I've found 2 issues... 1. On first boot, text was cropped left and bottom, had to press enter a couple of times to get the prompt to show at least so I could make the right selections. 2. After it booted, jumped right on to Chromium and was super laggy. Installed Firefox as an alternative but it's still kinda laggy while loading page, but it works great after page loads. I would like to have Chromium instead though. PRO: My rtl8821CU which was not working on any distro of Le Potato is finally working. I'm guessing it's a Kernel issue? This has kernel …

  48. Hi. Looking for help. I have uploaded Armbian v6.12 Desktop Ubuntu to a card and run on my device. You can see in the screenshot (video of the boot here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_1dm1rP33tbYISPUsta7nZV1eKPy3Plq/view?usp=drive_link) that some rubbish is displayed. I would also add that the device is sending a signal that is only displayed by the TV. No other monitor in the house is able to display anything that is sent from the device. This is even stranger, as when I upload the old ubuntu 18.04 to the same card, the device connected under any display displays my desktop. Any suggestions or suggestions? Maybe an older version? I want to make myself a RetroPi …

  49. TL;DR Where in armbian build system correctly can be make N2-only related changes: 1. /boot ext4 volume have to have symlink . as boot, can be created with command ln -s ./ boot 2. kernel env variable set in boot.ini contain part but it shouldn't. This substring need to be removed if btrfs choosen. 3. /boot ext4 partition have only 4 MB free. I am not sure but think it's too small; for example there no space to run update-initramfs -u. I think it should be larger, like 500 MB. Long: I want to run my oDroid-N2 with root on BTRFS filesystem. I use manual on armbian image build and did time ./compile.sh BOARD=odroidn2 BRANCH=cur…

  54. Hi, I am using the Odroid N2, and I have recently switched from the Hardkernel-supplied Ubuntu Mate, to an Armbian version with kernel 5. I was hoping to combine a homemade NAS using CPU accelerated LUKS-encrypted disks with a Kodi mediacenter, and the N2 seems to have excellent properties to do both. Installing these Armbian functions immediately fixed a few problems that Hardkernel's Ubuntu had (unstable BTRFS driver, and I also see no sign of the USB3 disconnect problems that Odroid used to have). However, this version has a problem to recognize audio hardware - in the GUI, I am unable to select HDMI audio or analog audio. - Fo…

I see the following in the log messages: pi@lepotato:~$ dmesg | grep Camera [ 4.431905] usb 1-1.2: Product: Arducam IMX477 HQ Camera [ 8.798501] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Arducam IMX477 HQ Camera (0c45:636d) [ 8.806595] input: Arducam IMX477 HQ Camera: Arduc as /devices/platform/soc/d0078080.usb/c9000000.usb/xhci-hcd.2.auto/usb1/1-1/1-1.2/1-1.2:1.0/input/input3 But I have no idea how to test further. I've tried cheese: cheese …

  89. https://www.loverpi.com/collections/le-potato It says open-source support. Free software is software you may use, share, modify and redistribute. Can le potato run entirely on free software, such that there is no piece of non free software on the computer? If so are the armbian le potato images free software images? https://www.armbian.com/lepotato/ Thank you.

  90. I just in installed Ubuntu 22.04 and planning to use the board as photo frame on cron job (script) during certain hours of the day. This is how I did on my raspberry pi(, that fried recently after about 7 years of service)! However, I can not turn off display. Commands I used on RPI do not work. Tried all kinds of various methods to turn off display - xset - vcgencmd - xscreensaver - tvservice - All of the above as my <username> as well as "sudo" All of them either don't do anything or blanks the screen but does not turn it off. For some of the above commands it complains regarding - VCHI initializ…

  91. I have some Banana PI M2 Pro, and I have successfully booted CoreElec, even I managed to copy the whole system to emmc, but I can't boot a SD with Armbian. For coreelec, I erased the emmc using the Image burning tool and a usb cable. Android boots up normally and I execute reboot update and the SD with coreelec boots up correctly. For armbian, I insert the SD card formated with Armbian_24.11.1_Bananapim2pro_bookworm_current_6.6.61_minimal.img and Android boots up, next, I execute "reboot update" and Android shows a error page. Attached there is a serial log, the one from coreelec is from cold boot to coreelec using a SD card, without ne…

  93. Hi guys I'm new to this type of computer. I recently got the Le Potato and have tried flashing the armbian package for it with USBimager and Balena and still get no boot. I was able to use the Raspberry PI imager and got Raspbian installed. I'm not sure what exactly is going wrong. I am using a Sandisk Extreme V1 32g but was able to get raspbian on a Samsung Evo select 256g.

  94. Hi, is posible to add Canbus by a MCP2515 in a spi port ? thanks!

  95. Hello, I recently updated my N2 server from Bullseye to Bookworm. Reboot went fine. I then noticed I still had the old kernel from the linux-image-odroidn2 package (4.9.190-odroidn2), so I ran armbian-config, and told it to switch to linux-image-current-meson64. It installed packages for a bit, then rebooted on its own without asking. Since then, every boot is stuck with a U-boot logo at the top right of the screen. What I tried: Fixed a couple of issues in /boot (zImage was a symlinked to the old `vmlinuz-4.9.190-odroidn2` that no longer existed, I made it point to `vmlinuz-6.1.11-meson64` instead; `boot.ini` referred to `boot/dtb/a…

  96. Hi, i use a AML-S905X-CC board and since the last kernel update, something start moving on the hardware acceleration side, i got mpv hwdec working. I would like to make some tests and start using kodi for media reproduction, but i'm scared that 256M of default cma memory is not enough. I have tried to set the cma memory size from kernel parameters using armbian-config. I have tried to add "cma=350M" and "extraargs=cma=350M" to boot environment. Both commands does not work. The strange thing is that i'm sure "extraargs=cma=350M" pass the command to the kernel parameters because i have already used it to disable a faulty composition output. I h…

  97. Hello, The mission: to change display resolution for "None-1" ('unknown display') - when no physical screen/display/monitor is attached. Machine: Banana Pi M5 (Bpi M5). I use it as a headless machine (without any monitor connected) and access it via a remote control/share screen application (such as: Teamviewer). The problem: the display is very small as the resolution is set to 720 X 576. I couldn't find any way or method to define/change the resolution in such a case. How can this be done? I'll appreciate any assistance you can provide. Thanks in advance! This is the information of the machine and Armbian version installed…

  98. Hi On fresh installed Armbian_23.5.1_Odroidn2_jammy_current_6.1.30_xfce_desktop when starting chromium-browser I get odroidn2:~$ chromium-browser Gtk-Message: 20:49:33.686: Failed to load module "xapp-gtk3-module" libva error: vaGetDriverNameByIndex() failed with unknown libva error, driver_name = (null) [18372:18372:0625/204934.172288:ERROR:gpu_init.cc(537)] Passthrough is not supported, GL is egl, ANGLE is [18372:18372:0625/204934.232251:ERROR:gl_display.cc(508)] EGL Driver message (Error) eglQueryDeviceAttribEXT: eglQueryDeviceAttribEXT [18372:18372:0625/204934.232523:ERROR:gl_angle_util_vulkan.cc(189)] Failed to retrieve vkGetInstanceProcAddr [18372:18372:06…

  100. I can not reiterate enough just how easy it is to "clone" your modified emmc, or microSD card OS, ... into an image file that you can easily restore with (balena)Ethcher afterwards, and all withiin Linux. 1:/ you'll need a USB-card-reader-adapter. 2:/ no matter how your USB-reader card reader sees your emmc, microSD card, ..., it'll most likely be mounted on a /dev/sda1 partition. 3:/ sudo dd bs=4M if=/dev/sda of=~/tmp/armbian_odroidc4_11_01_2025.img (you don't dd the partition, you dd the drive). 4:/ (optionally) sudo xz -v armbian_odroidc4_11_01_2025.img (this will take some time). ...and that's it, ... and you know the rest.
