  1. Rk3588 boards now share the same linuxfamily as rk3568 and rk3566 boards. It means rockchip-rk3588 kernel won't get update longer. Here is some steps for migration: sudo sed -i 's/LINUXFAMILY=rockchip-rk3588/LINUXFAMILY=rk35xx/g' /etc/armbian-release sudo apt update sudo apt install linux-image-legacy-rk35xx linux-dtb-legacy-rk35xx linux-headers-legacy-rk35xx sudo apt remove linux-image-legacy-rockchip-rk3588 linux-dtb-legacy-rockchip-rk3588 linux-headers-legacy-rockchip-rk3588 NOTE: The steps are currently for beta branch only. Don't try on stable branch.

  2. My current setup is the tinkerboard powered by the raspberry pi universal adapter connected to ethernet and a external HDD(Maxtor M3) powered by the Tinkerboard's usb. I have used it very lightly in this configuration (ssh-ing into it and copying some files to the hdd) but from what I have gathered from the information available here this powering setup is inedequate and will lead to problems. So I want to follow the recommended method and power it through the GPIO pins. I am considering using this or this powersupply. (I realize 10A on the second one is overkill for the tinkerboard, but the price difference from the 3A rated one is minimal and I could find some othe…

  4. I installed Desktop images with Armbian Linux v6.1 Ubuntu 24.04 (Noble) Gnome (Zero 3W) And out of the box after installation I get the message -bash: fork: retry: Resource temporarily unavailable (I have to work through the com port, because because of this error ssh and the desktop cannot work) I checked the performance of the equipment by installing Debian 11 from Radxa, the equipment works correctly (CPU RAM eMMC). Has anyone encountered this problem?

  5. Hi, On the download page of Tinker board "Ethernet driver needs some fixing" is listed as known issue. Are there any details about? What is the problem with the ethernet? Who should fix it? (Asus, armbian) Are there any plans for fixing it? I'm asking it, because I would like to use my tinker board as a headless 24/7 home cloud. Thank you!

  6. Radxa Rock 5C · Started by nemonein,

Board : radxa rock 5c lite with NVMe HAT and SPI Flash Module. OS : Armbian 25.11.2 stable 6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx (Debian trixie) Overlays : rock-5a-spi-nor-flash SPI Flash is on /dev/mtdblock0 Boot from SD : OK Boot from SD system on NVMe : OK ---- I want to boot from Flash, so I tried `Install/Update the bootloader on MTD Flash` menu on `armbian-config'. Then I got this message. No SPI image found. I also updated SPI with `rsetup` from Radxa OS, but it does not work(boot from NVMe failed) either. What do I have to do?

  7. On my Odroid M1 I have a display that will not work, other displays do work. Unfortunately, I need this display to work. When I plug it in, I see "PHY PLL not locked" in dmesg. If I boot with it plugged in, I see the Hard Kernel logo, then the screen turns off as Armbian boots. I booted into the Ubuntu 20.04 Gnome image provided by HardKernel and that one works. 1. What could I change to allow this display to be detected? 2. Can I just force the board to boot with output to 1024x768@60. I just need the output. Thanks all.

  8. I have 23.8.1 Jammy installed with kernel 5.10.160 and I'm getting plenty of kernel errors during any video playback, and these also cause the playback to freeze. From my research, these error messages come from librga - which I assume come from the panfork and rockchip repos but I was wondering if anyone has been able to resolve these errors.

  9. Hi all, Since most of Armbian's Rock 5B images are currently bricked (although hopefully not for too much longer now that we've figured out what the root cause is) I've been using the Ubuntu 26.04 image, which works, but doesn't have hardware video decoding and encoding. Since I wanted to use it with RDP, I needed hardware video encoding at least to make things not super-slow, so I figured, why not port it myself with Claude and Codex. So that's what I did. The kernel and some of the auxillary stuff like ffmpeg, librga, mpp, a mpp -> vaapi bridge, and a gnome-remote-desktop build that encodes using ffmpeg, are all in a PPA. Details here: https://github.com/…

  10. I just installed with the latest KDE image, but I'm able to reproduce this with any of the images available. After going through the initial configuration, wifi works great. I updated apt and upgraded everything. Then I installed the armbian-firmware-full package. After rebooting wifi still works. Then I setup Bluetooth for my mouse and keyboard. They work correctly. After rebooting I no longer see any networks to connect to for wifi. If I disable Bluetooth and reboot wifi works again and so does Bluetooth. Is this an issue of daemons or drivers loading in the wrong order?

  11. I'm booting it from Armbian_24.11.1_Rock-5c_bookworm_vendor_6.1.75_minimal.img.xz image from a SD card. When launching `armbian-install`, there's only one option: (5) - Install to SD card I would like to install the bootloader to the SPI flash module but the option is not present. Furthermore it seems that my SPI module isn't detected either when running ls /dev/mtd* -> no mtdblock I decided to move on and I flashed https://dl.radxa.com/rock5/5c/images/loader/spi/rock-5c-spi-image-20240528.img to my 5C lite SPI flash module. However, there's no display and both LEDs are lighted up (green and blue) without blinki…

  12. Hello, i'm using Armbian 23.11 Jammy-amazingfated Gnome. Kernel 5.10 If to seek a couple of times in h264 1080p BD remux'es it will cause system restart. Any video players are affected. Tried mpv, vlc, kodi and others. Problem affect just h264 1080p remuxes, that typically are 30..40 Gb, smaller h264 or even larger h265 files seem to work fine. I tried fresh install of armbian, where no rkmpp is installed, then h264 files plays/seeks fine, in software mode of course. Once I did sudo update/upgrade, that also installs rkmpp and other rockchip stuff, then videos start to play with rkmpp and problem is back. I've tried disabling hw deco…

  18. I have an Orange Pi 5 Plus 16GB board, revision "1.3.1". I've been using it for about a year with official Armbian, Vendor kernel 6.1. The only issues I noticed were a non-working Type-C port and FAN connector. I thought it was an OS or DTS (Device Tree) bug... But it turned out to be a hardware problem. 20. Hi. I've got a ROC-RK3399-PC SBC with a JMB585 PCIe to SATA extension card. 21. Hey guys, i want help to install anydesk in tinker board with armbian focal

  22. I'd like some help please. The ethernet device naming seems inconsistent. Sometimes one interface comes up as eth0 and sometimes as eth1, and sometimes not at all. The enp1s0 interface seems to reliably come up, but not with the right config (sometimes it uses the config for enp1s0 and sometimes for eth0). I am trying to assign status IP addresses (on different networks) to each interface, but because of the unreliable bringup of the network interfaces, I can't get a config that starts up correctly and consistency on reboots or cold boots. As a test I ran the friendly-core-lite-focal from FriendlyCore and it does not have this i…

Because I'm using the Board as Server and i don't need much CPU Power but I don't like to buy every 2-4 years a new board because the support ended. The reason of this question is, the odroid c1, there is no stretch image for this board. 2. Is there a good howto, how to build a kernel on a thinkerboard with own config? Reason for this question is, I have installed the latest armbian stretch server image on my tinker board and the kernel has no ebtables support. Second Reason ist question 1, build a own Kernel and update to Debian 10,11, ...., n.

  49. Hi friends, I have one nagging thorn in my side that I just cannot figure out. I need someone who has a 1password account for help with this one. The problem - their desktop app and browser plugin work in tandem -- and it will not synchronize on Armbian for some reason. I've tried everything I can think of - ensuring nothing is downloaded from Flatpak and therefore sandboxed and preventing any connectivity issues. But still not working. If someone can take 5 mins and create a free trial account on 1password, then here are the steps to reproduce: Download the latest arm64 version of 1password Desktop: curl -sSO https://downloads.…

I have only just got it working again. (I had to restore the kernel and supporting files from a recent backup, and restore symlinks in /boot). I don't know the root cause. I have ordered a second MicroSD card so that I can try booting from a fresh 20.08 image, and I will report back on what happens. In …

  58. So, if you use the mainline DTSI files, you'll encounter an issue when loading the Mali Midgard GPL kernel module, since the main ARM kernel maintainers changed how the "compatible" properties of Midgard GPU nodes should be defined. Don't ask me why, they created an entire documentation stating that now the Mali Midgard GPU nodes have to harbour the chip series number, a vendor-specific statement, and drop the "arm,mali-midgard" property. The additions are nice, since they allow a quick detection of the chip number and the chip vendor using /sys nodes names. However, turns out that the Mali kernel driver used the dropped property to detect the GPU. So, I've …

I'll admit I am new to linux so perhaps i'm missing something ovbious, but if someone could explain how I can up the resolution to 3,840 x 2,160 that would be great. After seeing trunk recently added the patches needed to use the "gofaster" option for panfork, and having seen reports of glmark2 scores of 4000 and 5000 while never coming close to that myself, I decided to pull together the various bits of info out there and just try all of the options. A number of things done below are often described vaguely -- hopefully it's helpful here to lay out a concrete set of steps to follow and what to expect. There are two options for accelerated video: panfork and ARM's closed source "blob" driver. With either option, it sounds like you should switch from X11 to Wayland. If you are looking a…

  96. Hi everyone, I've been working with Armbian for a while on my Rock Pi S, I got to a stable situation on version 24.11.1 with kernel 6.6.63 where everything worked perfectly... but recently this last week I applied an apt upgrade, which applied strong base modifications (linux-current-rockchip64 and dtbo going from 24.11.1 to 24.11.3), after applying this update and rebooting, I can't get it to boot again, either from the Micro SD or from the eMMC installation. I wanted to report this bug, but I don't have a TTL cable at hand to be able to do the corresponding debugging... I've tried to flash older versions, or even flash the 24.11.1 version again …

  98. I was running on Armbian_23.02.0-trunk.0112_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_cinnamon_desktop. For the most part, it worked but the mouse cursor would randomly disappear while remaining functional but invisible. I tried to upgrade using apt-get update and apt-get full-upgrade and after a reboot, it now just displays a flashing underscore. I can SSH into the OS so it's partially functional.
