  2. Anybody got PCF8563 configured and running on current armbian (25.8.2 noble aarch64) on a C2? i2cdetect -y 0 is seeing the device ID (0x51) and I have added module rtc-pcf8563 but no joy. HWCLOCK does not see the device. Any help would be appreciated. Scott

  6. Some time ago a I was desperate to have ZFS on an Odroid HC4 and after some trying found Armbian 21.05.8 Buster with Linux 5.10.57-meson64 on which I could compile ZFS module. Then I moved everything from the SD card to filesystems in a ZFS pool. It boots from SD card, though. And has been working fine for several months. Recently I bought another HC4 and took the current Armbian image for it: Armbian 22.08.8 Jammy with Linux 5.19.17-meson64 Everything works fine. Tried this image on the older HC4 and it doesn't see the second SSD. In the syslog I found this message: ata1: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) …

  8. Hello all, I am using an Odroid N2 with a 16Gb emmc and Armbian Bookworm. However as this got a bit small, I installed Armbian Bookworm to a new 64Gb emmc (Armbian is installed on an SD and can then be copied/installed to emmc). This seemed to work fine, and I had a running system. However, on the 3rd or 4th reboot, I got the error that the file "boot.scr" wasn't readable. With that, the emmc was not bootable anymore. I reinstalled multiple times, and each time, the emmc would work for a 2-5 boots, but no more. Each time, i got the error as above, or the error as below (partition could not be found) I never had this issue with the 16Gb emmc? Does anyone …

  9. Hi guys. I'm the maintainer for the Khadas VIM3. There are 2 small issue's with the Armbian images for VIM3, and also for VIM2. armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/46L9 First off, the VIM3 has all its cores clocked to 1.5Ghz by default. I created a Jira for that a while ago. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1094 My simple fix is in /etc/default/cpufrequtils MAX_SPEED=15xxxxxxx → MAX_SPEED=2400000 But I have no idea how/where to adjust this so it is correct for all VIM3 images. Then for VIM2 and VIM3 (maybe VIM3L and VIM1 too) the HDMI audio isn't working as it should. https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-1095 I once was…

  12. Banana Pi M5 · Started by gene1934,

This is NOT a support request, more of a brag. Needing a backup system, I was enamored of the low power requirements to run the bpi-m5. But they have no sata ports to drive bigger SSD's. But I bought a 5 stack of 4Tb TMSC built SSD drives at $200/copy, figuring on using a USB3.2 hub and startech's usb3.2 to sata adaptors, a big drive cage and a 50 watt 5 volt psu. More than 3 drives plugged in was too much current for the hub, itgot hot & shut down, so I bought another hub & glued it to the otherside of the drive cage. Problem solved. Printed the shelves to hold the drives and a BPI-m5. I configured the 5 SSD's into a software raid6 of 11TB. A friend that i…

  14. I have some Banana PI M2 Pro, and I have successfully booted CoreElec, even I managed to copy the whole system to emmc, but I can't boot a SD with Armbian. For coreelec, I erased the emmc using the Image burning tool and a usb cable. Android boots up normally and I execute reboot update and the SD with coreelec boots up correctly. For armbian, I insert the SD card formated with Armbian_24.11.1_Bananapim2pro_bookworm_current_6.6.61_minimal.img and Android boots up, next, I execute "reboot update" and Android shows a error page. Attached there is a serial log, the one from coreelec is from cold boot to coreelec using a SD card, without ne…

  17. hi all, I'm very new here, just got my first potato and am playing around with it. I noticed my top left USB port wasn't working at all, which googling led me to this thread here: It's a pretty old thread, but it seems to still be doing it, at least in the version of jammy I downloaded today. Not a dealbreaker for me, since I only really need 1 port, I can use one of the other 3 and it works fine, but thought maybe someone would want to know if you didn't already know. I DID confirm that it's not the board/port. If I put Ubuntu on it, I can see the drive just fine in blkid even when it's plugged into that pesky USB port.

  18. Hello, I have tried Bullseye CLI image 30nov from https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m5/ flashed with etcher to ensure integrity on sdcard sandisk A1 64G It appears that it loops in /scripts/local-block giving up to mount armbian root even with correct UUID why does it loop like this?

  19. @Igor I tested the XFCE, CLI and Minimal Bullseye images from https://armbian.com/bananapi-m5 (2022-11-30). I tried to build myself one from master (current and edge - bullseye/desktop/xfce), same outcome: it shows the Splashscreen and then stops here: I don't have a USB-to-TTL adapter, so I can't provide more debug informations. The only images that still boot (reliably!) from the SD card are the ones archived here https://imola.armbian.com/archive/bananapim5/archive/ that still used the Kernel 5.19.16. 21. Hi there, yesterday I tried to use nand install skript tool to move the content from my sd card on odroid n2 to emmc card for booting and using emmc card only. The process itself worked and the content of the sd cards was moved, but after unplugging sd card and plugging emmc card the boot process is not starting and nothing is shown on the hdmi monitor. I compared the /boot filesystems and both are identically. I checked the "armbianEnv.txt" file and it is ok for the new uuid of the emmc card. Everything seems to be identically but why is it not booting. Does someone have a hint what to check additionally what is maybe missing at beginning of the boot process.…

This is how I did on my raspberry pi(, that fried recently after about 7 years of service)! However, I can not turn off display. Commands I used on RPI do not work. 31. Hi, I am using the Odroid N2, and I have recently switched from the Hardkernel-supplied Ubuntu Mate, to an Armbian version with kernel 5. I was hoping to combine a homemade NAS using CPU accelerated LUKS-encrypted disks with a Kodi mediacenter, and the N2 seems to have excellent properties to do both. Installing these Armbian functions immediately fixed a few problems that Hardkernel's Ubuntu had (unstable BTRFS driver, and I also see no sign of the USB3 disconnect problems that Odroid used to have). However, this version has a problem to recognize audio hardware - in the GUI, I am unable to select HDMI audio or analog audio. - Fo…

  39. Hi, I'm curious, is there any qualitative difference between the dedicated application images and the Minimal image followed by a "normal" manual installation of the given application? For example OpenMediaVault (OMV) which comes with tailored installation instructions for Armbian. IOW, does the dedicated application image "only " take care of the OMV installation for you, or is there more to it which I might miss when installing OMV myself (on top of the minimal image)? Thanks!

  42. I have an Odroid HC4 I've used as a NAS. Back around 2021, it worked fine. I think I installed plain armbian back then and installed openmediavault on top of it. Then I did all kinds of updates to it. I believe it's now on a hybrid of Debian Bookworm and Debian Trixie - don't ask. The update mechanism is not super clear. I wanted to run a fresh, plain Armbian and install dietpi. But there is a well documented flaw where Armbian cannot exit boot in some cases. In my case, it happens only when SATA drives are attached. I have two WD Red drives that it can't boot with those attached. It seems like the bootloader code was changed over time…

  45. Banana PI M2S · Started by baryon,

The USB-C port and lsusb results suggest to me that this board should support USB 3 under Armbian, but I have no earthly idea how I would succeed at this. My first, naive attempt used the PinePhone docking bar. This looked like it might work as it passed power through to the M2S, and it also powered the WD Passport HDD I used to test, but no devices appeared. Is there a better fit? Perhaps the PinePhone device only works with Pine devices? This would be better posted on the official Banana Pi forum, but I'm apparently IP banned despite having never posted there. This is an Armbian system, so I reckon it's not too off-topic to ask here.

  60. I upgraded the kernel today via apt-get update/upgrade and it seems kernel for armbian 23.08 is being pushed to users with 23.02 breaking a bunch of stuff. After upgrading the kernel ethernet stops working and requires the user to manually downgrade kernel, uboot (and dtb?). I am currently on "current" kernel (6.1.11-meson64) I'm thinking of downgrading to legacy (5.xx) via armbian-config, does anyone know if this is safe?

But when I flashed latest 5.10 kernel version it boots but without HDMI signal. I've read some topics here and in hardkernel forum and my conclusion is that my monitor resolution (3440x1440@60Hz) might not be supported by the kernel. I use this monitor. After some tinkering I was able to boot with video by passing following string to bootargs: setenv bootargs ${bootargs} "video=HDMI-A-1:2560x1440@60" Unfortunately the image is flickering and almost unusable in most cases. Here is an excerpt from 4.9 kernel bootlog wi…

The only "graphic" thing I'm doing is running standard Klipper-Screen through HDMI and this seems to be working as always... It definately wasn't there like half a year ago. can I get rid of it? Is it something to worry about? my armbian is running on a Banana-Pi CM4 module of of the eMMC. It's a rather standard installation with Klipper installed via KIAUH. sincerely - cad435

  96. I'm trying to use a Pixel Qi screen with Odroid N2 running armbian. I've made EDID file myself and had it set in armbianEnv.txt like this: edid=0 disp_mode=1024x600 extraargs=drm.edid_firmware=edid/qi.bin But in nowhere it's loaded by the system.

  97. Hello all, As subtitler guy, I experienced many troubles making aegisub work. , I finally made the subtitle editor, working with hardware under armbian jammy but having still annoyances. 98. Hi, I've been using the /dev/ttyAML1 UART port on my Odroid N2+ at the GPIO pins 8 and 10 with buster. With the update to bullseye, the /dev/ttyAML1 device disappeared. Also now in bookworm it is no longer present. Now I happen to need the UART at GPIO 8 and 10 again and did some more persistent research and came across this post over in the DietPI forum. It provided an alternative meson-g12b-odroid-n2-plus.dtb which I installed in my system. Since then my /dev/ttyAML1 device is back and I can use the UART at GPIO 8 and 10 as I wished. However, I am a bit nervous, since I just installed some binary dtb file to my system at a path which …

  99. hello everyone, can anyone tell me how to install the driver for the RTL8811 WiFi USB dongle?

  100. I want to run some legacy program written in .NET on some of my arm SBCs. When I run it on the board natively connected to screen, I got same issues drecribed in https://stackoverflow.com/questions/28674759/running-simple-winforms-application-on-mono-for-arm and https://github.com/mono/mono/issues/13049 I tested it does not work on LePotato and Orangepi3B, but works on Rock 5B so I think this is more general than specific board, but not affecting all boards. On the other hand, the program executes correctly when I run it through SSH with X forwarding. It also works with vendor provided image on Orangepi3B and Rock 4B. Some answer in the stack…
