I got the Le Potato Ubuntu server image up and running. Then installed the Mate desktop environment. Most everything is working fine, but the system freezes hard at times, mostly when I try to run several large programs concurrently. Problem with memory? Also, some resolutions have the refresh rate set at 68.5 Hz that don't work on most of my monitors. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the work you guys put into it, and I look forward to the continuing progress!

Good Morning, I would like to Power ON or Wake the Board by IR Remote. However I cannot find instructions anywhere on how to enable the IR wake or what the code is for wake etc. Can you please point me in the right direction? From: https://loverpi.com/blogs/news/first-look-at-libre-computer-board-aml-s905x-cc-le-potato-hardware-overview it states: IR Shutdown works but then I cannot wake the board by IR. Thank you for any help and for all the time the developers donate to this. Much appreciated.

I have two Le Potato boards (http://ix.io/2ykP http://ix.io/2ykN), I installed Armbian Focal on them. One of the board has defective HDMI (board from Kickstarter?), it has no HDMI output. Other board was ordered from Amazon, a year later. It has HDMI output but colors are not right (white is green, black is purple, etc, HDMI image is not nice but it is usable; it is interesting that when I use HDMI to VGA adapter, colors are right; when board runs in low resolution, colors are right on HDMI too. But when resolution is high, 1950x1200, then HDMI colors are wrong - I swapped HDMI cable without any effect - is this known video driver issue??). So because only one…

Dear all, first, as being new here: Many thanks to all the work that went into this! Now, here's my problem on Le Potato, which I have with armbian and LibreELEC: As soon as I copy anything large to any media, some services (SSH, Samba, Kodi, tvheadend - all of them network dependent) crash after writing something between 200 and 700 MB - not always at the same point. So anything like cp /some/huge/file /home/me crashes the services. Something like this: cp /some/huge/file /dev/null is no problem. I tried writing to SD as well as to USB, and I tried via network (scp from another machine into Le Potato…

Hello, i've tried the actually armlogic Image for my six le potatos. (https://dl.armbian.com/lepotato/Ubuntu_xenial_next_desktop.7z) In the first step it looks ok. But then i found you, that there is missing a xfs Module. I need this for a ceph test deployment. After some research i found out, that you can compile you own kernel with this description: https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ I tried it and copy the kernel to the le potatos. But then a lot of strange things happens. Some of them where starting, some not, and when they started after some time the whole system brokes (looks lik…

I want to use a StromPi3 board with my lepotato board. I am using the armbian image. I used armbian-config to enable the serial ports and both show up as /dev/TTYAML0 and /dev/ttyAML6. Nonetheless I am unable to communicate on the serial ports even when connecting jumpers and a USB serial converter. I later tried to modify the divorce tree by hand. No change. Is there something else I could try to get the serial port on pins 8 and 10 working?

I am trying to use the s905x on the Le Potato board to encode a 1080p video to stream via RTSP. Using software, the video is encoded anywhere in between the 5-7fps range. I want to use the hardware encoder that is available on the chip but I haven't been able to find any libraries that let me use the hardware on this specific board. I have tried installing the Mali-450 GPU drivers here (https://wiki.debian.org/MaliGraphics) but no luck.

I know there is a template, but this board is already on the download page as unsupported, just ran a group of tests on it after building a full desktop image, I think we can move it to supported without any issues, the S805X is the same as an S905X with some things turned off, like comparing an H3 and an H2+. Pros: SPI contains u-boot, we don't have to do anything with that. Libre Computer updates the firmware periodically (available on their site) already supports USB boot, etc, and has a "press escape for menu" option, making it very difficult to brick. UMS mode is menu selectable (I feel like we need to look at this. I hav…

bananaoi-m5, Armbian 25.8.1 bookworm installed I can login via ssh as first user, gene, and sudo -i just fine. Buuuttttttt, at reboot the local screen ask's for the pw for amandabackup, a user lock down tightly which has never had a pw assigned. as its intended to be pw--less for the amanda backup system. What miss-configure can cause this????? Also I ordered 2 more of the keyboard/mouse combo''s which are the same as I'm using with a similar install for klipper running a 3d printer, but the dongle doesn't init when plugged in ack dmesg output, refusing its on discovery assigned address. Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a severe boot delay on my Banana Pi M5 running Server Armbian Image (v25.2.2 - Banana Pi M5 - Armbian Linux 6.12.21-current-meson64) when no HDMI monitor is connected. Hello everyone, Upgrading from distro isn't supported officially but I tried it anyways and thought I should share my findings. In short, it worked for me. Others have reported issues so maybe we can figure out what causes these issues. My N2+ is fairly vanilla, so I didn't heavily modify it. Running 5.10.x kernel since that is recommended for de N2+ Step 1. Fully upgrade your system on Focal sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Step 2. Shutdown you N2+ and make an image backup of your emmc using dd or Win32DiskImager in case something goes wrong Step 3. Boot up your N2+ a…

Hi everyone! For about a week now, I have been using armbian 22.11.1 on my new Odroid HC4, which is my Nextcloud server. As alway, armbian is rock solid 😉 I have just a little question: Can one modify the information presented in htop? I'd like to have "CPU temperature" and "TX today" (meaning sent bytes) showing. The welcome screen already shows "CPU temperature" and "RX today". I know that the CPU temperature can be read here /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp and but I can't find it in the htop-configuration under "available meters".

So, I've noticed there were some updates available, so decided to do so, now running 20.08.7 Focal / 5.8.13 kernel. Now, I did run the nand-sata-install when I first installed armbian a month ago to an external SSD and all's working perfectly. The thing is, a couple of weeks ago, even after this latest update and rebooting, the sbc won't boot up, I had to pull the plug and back about 20 times for it to boot. So this is what I found running dmesg. X windows system on term 7. turns black and then the Monitor goes in Power Saving modus. But the others terms still work ( not 100 percent sure ). Strangely enough that this happens only shortly after switching on. But if I cut the Power or reboot then it will run 24 hours or longer. Haven't tested more than 24 h. I recognize that late that I could switch to other terms i.e. term 1. At first I thought that the N2+ was under powered and tried another PSU but later I saw that only X window system on term 7 has crashed. Music per bluetooth continued playing. What I did was making updates before it happening.

I had my banana pi M5 installed with Armbian 24.11.1 Noble Gnome. I had trouble with the wifi dongle which is TP-Link (RTL8188 skew) product. Just a warning for everyone, the new kernel update (6.18.xx I think?) absolutely wrecks the system (atleast it does on Ubuntu Noble). It doesn't boot at all anymore I needed to recover an old kernel from an old backup I had and overwrite the current kernel from rescue mode/petitboot. Kernel 6.12.xx seems to work fine(ish) Just a heads up because I don't know enough to pinpoint the exact cause. p.s. for me the kernel means the files in /boot not sure if I used proper terminology

Good day! I have a Banana pi m2s with Amlogic A311D, 4GB RAM and 16GB emmc. Official images from Banana pi work on this device (both emmc and SD card). The problem is when I try to install Armbian on SD card - using BalenaEtcher on Windows / Disk tool on Ubuntu Mate: - the m2s either doesn't boot (when Armbian is written on emmc memory) - or m2s boots from emmc storage (when Armbian is written on SD Card) SD card has boot priority over emmc and works fine with official .img from bananapi. This post is not a criticism but I suppose that noobs with experience with linux since 2006 like myself might get caught out by: * Desktops are very simple and minimal but containing standard features such as Chromium, Firefox browser, Office tools etc. This Ubuntu based "noble" distro DOES NOT have any browser installed as part of the image. Since I rarely use snaps, as they are controversial, I did not understand at first that "synaptic" will not install Firefox or Chromium. In fact you have to use the CLI terminal to manually install Firefox or Chromium with the "snap" program. May I suggest that the webpage description be amended to:…

Hi there, yesterday I tried to use nand install skript tool to move the content from my sd card on odroid n2 to emmc card for booting and using emmc card only. The process itself worked and the content of the sd cards was moved, but after unplugging sd card and plugging emmc card the boot process is not starting and nothing is shown on the hdmi monitor. I compared the /boot filesystems and both are identically. I checked the "armbianEnv.txt" file and it is ok for the new uuid of the emmc card. Everything seems to be identically but why is it not booting. Does someone have a hint what to check additionally what is maybe missing at beginning of the boot process.…

Hi have two N2s (an N2+ and N2). Both are connected to a Viewsonic 2560x1440 2 HDMI ports monitor where they both work well. I have two Odroid C2s. One I have been using as NUT server for Eaton UPS. Today NUT clients report no connection. What seems to be the problem is the C2 (this happens with both, same SD card) are not seeing devices plugged into USB ports so the USB connection to the UPS is not working. I have verified the Eaton and USB cable are fine. I regularly update the C2 I wonder if a recent update has affected the USB port functioning? Any way to troubleshoot? I tried a few USB flash drives and then lsusb but none are seen.

But later they are disconnected for an unknown reason. https://paste.armbian.com/jucovipaxo lsusb only lists two devices: Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. Hub Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub The suggested hack "usbcore.autosuspend=-1" for USB-problems is already activated, but USB doesn't work anyway Maybe there is a solution for this strange behavior of my C2.

(Sorry this tagged as C2 since C4 tag not available) - Not trying to ruffle any feathers mentioning dietpi. I have an Odroid C4 with petitboot on sd for booting os's. I have a couple usb3>sata cases with 120g ssd's installed. Blazing fast and about $25usd 🙂 I can then download images and write them to the drives. Dietpi 9.11 and using the netboot function builtin to petiboot a few different flavors of other os's including debian 12. I have Armbian on SD as well. My problem is that it is incredibly slow running from sd on my c4. It runs VERY WELL though and detects audio properly on my tv through hdmi (shows as unknown display). W…

Hi, after a long time I started up my C4 and tried both the standard download kernel as well as a home compiled one. I need SPI on the C4, so I changed the device tree to meson-sm1-odroid-c4-spidev.dtb, and see spidev kernel modul loaded, but no driver, and I don't get any signals on the corresponding pins. Any help is appreciated - would be great to have SPI working again... See you, Michael

I have a Odroid C2 that was being used as a TV box with Coreelec, and has now been retired due to upgrade. I want to repurpose the C2 for a completely different role, so I am trying to install Armbian in it. I downloaded the Armbian image from here and followed the official install instructions, but the C2 refuses to boot. The red light turns on when powered but nothing more happens, no other lights, no screen, nothing. Coreelec was booting with no issue, so it must be something I'm setting wrong. Just in case I tried a different SD card and two different images, Bookworm minimal (the one I'm interested in) and Ubuntu Noble XFCE (just to test). Sam…

Hi guys, I installed the latest Armbian (Buster) release for my Odroid HC4 and - after getting rid of Petitboot as that just wouldn't let me boot the image - it's working great so far. Only big problem I have is that it does not recognize any SATA devices, in neither of the two slots. I tried different HDDs / SSDs that I verified are recognized on a Windows PC and another Ubuntu PC. Did anyone get that working already? I assume the required Kernel drivers for the PCIe-Sata-chip are probably still missing. Many thanks and best regards Daniel

Hi all How can I enable the rtc clock in the Odroid HC4? I know nothing about device tree and overlays, but the Hardkernel Ubuntu image has an overlay to enable: wiki. I didn't find anything similar in the armbian image. Could be related to this this PR for the N2 model? Thanks

I recently installed the latest precompiled Bullseye image on my Odroid HC4 and plugged in two Samsung 870 QVO 8TB SSDs. After configuring the system I noticed that they were not present, checking output from `/var/log/syslog` I can see the "SATA Llink down" messages for both channels. After several reboots I tried seating them after booting, both drives cause some messages about a soft reset failing, then eventually within 30-60 seconds are recognised until I reboot. I then one Crucial MX500 4TB SSDs which was recognised at first, after some reboots it would no longer be present, or strangely, be present with a much lower capacity (1TB). When seating the d…

Hello, I was running OpenMediaVault on Armbian Buster some time ago and after an update (I suppose) the system would not boot normally anymore. Had to move places shortly after that, so the board stayed in a box for about a year and now I would like to put it back into service. A Bullseye image is required for OMV 6, so I went to the website and downloaded the latest image for my Odroid N2 board : Armbian_23.02.2_Odroidn2_bullseye_current_6.1.11.img.xz I then flashed the 16GB eMMC and plugged it in ... no boot (fixed red led / no network) If I do the same with an SDCard, it boots up normally (blinking blue led / working SSH) …

Good morning, after some time using armbian on my OdroidN2 with great success (got Nextcloud with working Talk installed, external USB, Minecraft server, nginx, LetsEncrypt, Netdata...) I encountered some problems I am not able to solve by myself: I bought a RTC battery and a LED power button to "finalize" my Odroid (hardwarewise), and to my surprise both did not work as expected. RTC: It says: chris@OdroidN2:~$ sudo hwclock hwclock: select() to /dev/rtc0 to wait for clock tick timed out cat /proc/interrupts |grep rtc ...gives me also no return (empty string), so i guess there is a module missing in the kernel : chris@Odroi…

I am having trouble installing specific hardware dkms because the dkms requires the linux header files for the installed kernel version which are not available or do not exist. Armbian 23.05.1 Ubuntu 22.04 desktop version is build with kernel 6.6.63 but an apt search for the relevant headers finds none. Headers exist for 6.2, 6.5 and 6.8 but not for 6.6. Hello all, I am using an Odroid N2 with a 16Gb emmc and Armbian Bookworm. However as this got a bit small, I installed Armbian Bookworm to a new 64Gb emmc (Armbian is installed on an SD and can then be copied/installed to emmc). This seemed to work fine, and I had a running system. However, on the 3rd or 4th reboot, I got the error that the file "boot.scr" wasn't readable. With that, the emmc was not bootable anymore. I reinstalled multiple times, and each time, the emmc would work for a 2-5 boots, but no more. Each time, i got the error as above, or the error as below (partition could not be found) I never had this issue with the 16Gb emmc? Does anyone …

Hi all. I've recently received the Odroid N2+. Since nobody else started a topic about it, I'll be the one. All works fine with Armbian since not much hardware changes have been made vs the N2. Except for the CPU frequency. With the Odroid Ubuntu you can set it to 2.4Ghz for the big cores A73 as overclock (2208 stock)., and 2016Mhz for the A53 cores (1908 stock). With Armbian the max clocks are 2Ghz for all cores. Using Armbian Focal 4.9 legacy. I tried setting the higher values in config.ini. Also tried with the "meson64_odroidn2_plus.dtb" file from the Odroid Ubuntu. Doesn't boot with that. (What do I know ) Other changes are the RTC b…

Install of Armbian 21.02.2 Buster with Linux version 5.7.15-meson64 and gpiod package installed on the Odroid N2 does not work for gpiomon. The gpiod command gpioinfo and gpioget work fine. Gpiomon fails with message "No such device". Searching for hours I believe the issue is that interrupts have not been assigned to the gpiopins, so appropriate devices don't exist. Any information on when/how to get a fully functional gpiod and associated python package going. Python code using python3-libgpiod also fails on the line.request function with the same "No such device" error.

Odroid-C2 (there was no adequate tag) After I upgraded my ssd install from 23.11.1 to 24.2.1, the board didn't boot. When starting 24.2.1 from a fresh sd card, usb and disk leds are on, and the board boots. But they don't show in lsusb. If I reconnect them after the board is booted, the leds stay off (and obviously they don't show in lsusb). Of course, booting from external ssd stops at some point, because usb is lost during the boot (when connecting a display, the failures start to happen on armbian services). Had to restore previous release 23.11.1 from backup on my ssd. Everything works again.

Hi I had to upgrade my Odroid N2 from Armbian Buster to Armbian Bullseye to run newer versions of Nextcloudpi (24.x). So I did the upgrade by writing the Armbian 22.05 version to the eMMC and started Armbian. Works fine. After a restore of my nextcloudpi backup everything was well. But the next reboot did nothing, i.e. no output on the HDMI Interface, nothing. So, I did a power-off and looked at the eMMC via a Micro-SD adapter I have. Of course, no logs, nothing. …
